Short size 2 flavor (Leather & Mixmaster)

Late night sweet craving, Satisfied! Cute shop with a fun vintage dry-cleaning atmosphere. We came around 10:30 PM and the line was already stretched down the alley. Everyone was fun, friendly, and energetic. They even came outside to offer samples which made choosing a flavor even easier. They offer rotating flavors, all unique and creative. My favorite was the "Leather" flavor, chocolate chip cookies and brown butter, absolutely delicious! If you're visiting San Diego, definitely add An's Dry Cleaning to your dessert list.

An's really lives up to its reputation as the #1 ice cream shop in the nation. We had a different gelato the night before that was really good, but An's beat that too. First, I love the interior design that maintains the dry cleaner theme so creatively. It's both quaint and charming. Though there's a long line, it's worth the wait because of the wonderful service they provide you. You are given an experience when it's your turn. First, they have you started with a palate cleanser (ginger, lemon, honey) - so refreshing! Then, they have you try each gourmet flavor. Each flavor is unique and they swap them out every month. Though we were feeling gluttonous and wanted to get absolutely everything, we practiced self restraint and landed on four flavors: 1. Strawberry, jasmine, mochi 2. Honey, lavender, oat, white chocolate 3. Brown butter and chocolate chip cookies 4. Goat cheese, apricot, and saffron Everything was so good texture and flavor wise, and I already can't wait to go back to SD next month just to try new flavors! My wish: that they'd sell and deliver online to all parts of CA. Feels too far from LA and too good to stay local.

A super fun ice cream spot themed like a dry cleaner. The flavors were all super unique and super tasty. There's a tasting experience where they let you sample every flavor and explain the ingredients. The staff were so friendly and the interior was super cute!!

    Great service from this peeps!

North Park just keeps delivering--this spot is officially a new favorite. Tried a few standout flavors and every single one hit: Vicuna Wool (goat cheese + saffron + apricot) -- sounds wild, but it works. Creamy with a slight tang from the goat cheese, floral notes from the saffron, and just the right sweetness from the apricot to balance it all out. Shibori (strawberry + jasmine + mochi) -- bright and refreshing. The jasmine is subtle and the mochi adds a chewy texture that makes it fun. Kasuri (panda + matcha) -- must try. Rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced without being overly sweet. Yes, the line was long--but worth it. You're greeted right away and they let you sample all the flavors, which makes the whole experience even better. If you're in North Park and want something beyond the usual, this place is it.

This place is really unique. The flavors are non-traditional but delicious. For first timers? They let you try all of the flavors which was very helpful. I can see why this place is on many of the "best of" lists.

We've come here a few times and the service is always amazing! There is always a line but you get to sample every flavor before making a decision so it really is worth the wait. All of the flavors are very unique. The decor of the ice cream shop is so fun!

Ans is one of my favorite places to take friends and family when they visit San Diego. Not only is it a unique experience with their flavor tours and different shop themes, but the flavors are genuinely the best you will find. They have vegan and gluten free flavors that aren't just watered down sorbets.

If you haven't heard of this place, it's worth the trip to North Park to grab a scoop. I stopped in on a Thursday around 5 PM and was in and out in under 5 minutes, but by 7 PM, the line was out the door. Inside was a little small, but smartly decorated with little ironing boards on the wall to go with the theme. I noticed most folks eat at the tables right outside the shop, it was a really nice day, so we did the same. The staff is warm and genuinely enthusiastic, offering samples of every flavor without hesitation. That generosity is probably what keeps the line moving slowly, but honestly, I don't blame anyone for taking their time, the flavors rotate frequently and you'll want to try before you commit. I went with the Leather, chocolate chip cookies and brown butter. The crispy brown butter bits were the star of the show, adding this incredible texture and depth that you just don't expect from gelato. It was rich without being heavy. I was told the menu is constantly evolving, so no two visits are quite the same. Pro tip: Go early on a weekday if you want a quick in-and-out, and always sample the flavors , they earn that extra time.

Long line but I thought it was worth it! They encourage you to sample all of the flavors on the rotating menu which causes the line to move on the slower end. The service is really fantastic though and you can tell they're really proud of the unique flavor combinations. After sampling all of the 7 flavors, I went with the termeh (saffron, pistachio, vanilla) and leather (chocolate chip cookies, brown butter). I got the short size (smallest) and felt like it was quite hefty and a very generous portion. The flavors here are unique and delicious, I'd come back again!

Honestly this was just ok. I saw a lot of good reviews and we were close by for dinner, so we decided to try it. The consensus in our group was that of wasn't worth the long wait we had, it took us about 40 minutes at least. Parking here is tough, so plan ahead and hope you get lucky. The line wrapped around the building, so i did appreciate them bringing around multiple samples for us to try some we waited. Also as soon as you get up to the counter they have you sample all of the flavors so you can choose what you want. I did a cone with Leather and Coppola. Leather was a brown butter flavor with chocolate chip cookie pieces of their in house made cookies. The Coppola also had the same cookies, but also add Nutella. When i tried the samples in small tastings it tasted good, but once i got a cone full it was just too much... of everything. I couldn't finish it unfortunately because it was just too rich and sweet. I think i should have balanced it out and not gotten 2 cookie flavors. I will say the cone itselfwas amazing, and one of the better ones ive had. It definitely tasted. Like it was made in house. If you like gelato they definitely have some interesting flavors, and the rotate them periodically, so I'd say check them out to see if you think it lives up to the hype and you don't mind the line. For me i just don't think it was worth that long wait, so not sure id go again, unless the line were very short.

Honestly, the experience at An's Dry Cleaning Ice Cream was surprisingly good. I never understood why people still crave ice cream during cold weather... until I tried this place. You don't have to try every flavor, but tasting them one by one was actually fun. Even the goat milk flavor gave me such a unique and hard-to-describe feeling though besides that one, almost every flavor was delicious. I even ended up buying two boxes to take home. The only downside was waiting in line for over 30 minutes...

Overview: busy even on a Monday afternoon (3pm!), unique flavors, great gelato, fun experience ---- Pricing is pretty similar to other gelato places. There's also a 7.5% tax charge even with cash. Pricing Sizes: - short $6.65 (after tax $7.15) - tall $7.75 (after tax $8.33) - XL (pint) $13.50 (after tax $14.51) - w/ Starch (with waffle cone) $8.45 (after tax $9.08) I ordered a tall which is supposed to be 5 ounces. ---- Flavors change every 2 weeks, which keeps this place fresh and interesting. Flavors as if 3/16/2026: - L.E.D. (vegan) - guava, pineapple, passion fruit, and blood orange + Meyer lemon jam - Termeh - saffron, pistachio, vanilla - Vicuna Wool - goat cheese, apricot, saffron - Leather - chocolate chip cookies and brown butter - Léine - Irish cream liqueur, cold brew, coffee ganache - Kilt - coffee, Irish whiskey, vanilla shortbread - Matelassé (vegan) - chocolate and mint ---- My favorite flavors were Termeh (saffron, pistachio, vanilla) and Leather (brown butter and chocolate chip cookie). I loveee the bits of pistachio in the Termeh, while the chunks weren't big as the actual nuts, the amount was frequent so that you have a taste in each and every bite. Leather was an underdog for me and the most I think about it, was the real star of the show. I thought it was going to be the most basic tasting one, but the nuttiness of the browned butter really comes through. I expected all of the flavors to be good, but this one was the most impactful, surprisingly. Honorable mention L.E.D. which was a punch to your mouth with guava flavor. I wasn't able to distinguish the other flavors they had listed (guava, pineapple, passion fruit, and blood orange + Meyer lemon jam) aside from the dominance of the guava taste, but I like guava, so if you like guava it's very guava-y. ---- It took 13 minutes to get my gelato from the time I walked inside the shop to having the gelato in my hand. There was a line of 10 or more people (some grouped together), and each one had to go through their "flavor tour" which was pretty thorough. Having to go through the script of what to say for each flavor is very repetitive so thank you to the hard workers for having to explain it in the same way every single time, to every customer, I appreciate you guys. Jay conducted a "flavor tour" and provided samples of each flavor that they had, starting with a palate cleanser that was light and a bit citrusy. Then they moved from right to left on their menu. The little spoonful they give is surprisingly enough to be able to taste the depth of flavor for what they offer. That was my determining factor of which were standouts to me. While I love their variety of flavors, with there being 7 available, I thought that Léine and Kilt were a bit too similar. Both were coffee-based with an alcoholic infusion. Léine is made up of baileys (Irish cream liqueur), cold brew, coffee ganache and Kilt being coffee, Irish whiskey, vanilla shortbread. The difference between the two is the coffee ganache (white chocolate and coffee) and vanilla shortbread, which aren't strong enough flavors to distinguish between the two (at least on the little spoon I had of each). So to me, they were both just fundamentally coffee flavored gelatos, which I think could have replaced with a different flavor. Nit-pickiness aside, I fully understand the amount of time, effort, and energy it takes to put into flavor creation and testing so I am in awe and completely appreciate An's for having the capacity to have a rotating flavor menu every 2 weeks. ---- The theme of the shop is a dry cleaners with their flavors named after different fabrics which is a cute concept. The decor matches cohesively with "ironing table" tables and their merch hung up on clothes hangers. The space inside is quite small to stand around and sit in bc there's always a line of people, but they have a few outside seats if you're lucky enough to grab one. Parking is also pretty tough, with street parking available but luckily I snagged a 15 min parking spot near the shop. ---- Overall: it was a great first experience, hard to find parking, a little bit of a wait to order but worth it for their flavorful gelatos. My recs are Termeh and Leather (check them out if they ever have those flavors again in rotation)!

The flavor tour is perfect for an indecisive girl like me; I always feel rude asking for multiple samples but An's makes it the norm! Of course, that combined with their recent fame may contribute to the long lines... still worth tho! Lines are less long on weekdays; I've seen it (or the lack thereof) while grabbing coffee at Little While or Nomade! What a perfect little block - if you can find parking.

The service here is always really good and relatively quick. The place is pretty big so there's plenty of seating. Parking downtown sucks, can't avoid that. The ice cream, all the chocolate toppings, and the Ghirardelli Square they throw in on top is always delicious. Can't deny how good it is. I wouldn't recommend bringing a large family here because it's pretty much $20 a person if you get the normal size Sundays. It's too bad they stopped handing out samples. Looks like business has slowed down a bit.

The flavor selection was pretty vast and they were generous with letting you try samples. They made sure to ask me if i had been there before, so they could explain things to me. He let me know they make their own ice cream. I sampled several flavors all of which were good. I was torn between the chocolate pecan and the bourbon butter pecan as they were both good. Thinking back maybe i should have gotten a combo of both, but i went with the bourbon pecan in a cup. The portion size was pretty good, and actually i couldn't finish the whole thing, even though i got a small. It was very creamy and has a good flavor, even though i didn't really taste the bourbon much, but there were plenty of whole pecans.. They also sell other baked goods that look really amazing. I will definitely need to come back to try more ice cream and maybe the carrot cake.

There wasn't much of a line on a Saturday night. We didn't sample, we just picked Pistachio and Banana Pudding. I liked that the banana pudding had bits of vanilla cookie mixed within. The pistachio left much to be desired as the flavor had an artificial flavor to it. Maybe it was just me but my bf also remarked that he was disappointed with the flavor as well. We did get a nice serving of each flavor and regretted not trying some other flavors before finalizing our choice. Ambiance is a typical ice cream shop with a few seats outside to enjoy your treat. Service was friendly and pricing was pretty good.

The cheesecake smob that I am I took home something that I took a a chance on because I am trying not to be a creature of habits. A lemon strudel cheesecake out of the refrigerator the next day is probably better freshly made. When I go back I will defiantly make space for everything. When my kids started looking at ice cream flavors, the man asked me if I could pay for a cookie and some ice cream for him. When I turned him down, he then asked me if I could buy him some milk and a cookie. After I turned him down for a second time, he then asked my wife. Finally, he asked my son. At this point, a second person behind the counter asked the man to leave. I'm ok with people asking for a handout, but it is totally not cool to repeatedly ask inside an ice cream shop and asking a minor after his parents already said no. That interaction really put a damper on things, but we eventually ordered a few scoops and a few cookies. Thought the cookies were spot on again (warm from the oven). The ice cream temperature wasn't quite right - a bit on the melted/soft side. Not quite what we were hoping for this time around.

I've worked in Little Italy in the past but have never tried Caffe Italia. I got their Italian sandwich, with the default bread being focaccia. Inside there were prosciutto, salami, ham, provolone, tomato, and house made balsamic vinaigrette. It had a good balance of deli meats, and the focaccia bread was thick to hold it all together. I thought it was tasty as well as their coffee, however my coffee wasn't filled up all the way. It is strong and their roast is bold! I liked it a lot, although a lunch meal can get costly so it would just be from time to time if I were to revisit. Not only that, but they also have a small selection of gelatos which look pretty authentic like Spumoni! Other desserts I saw were mousse, tiramisu, cannoli, cheesecake, carrot cake, and rugelach. The cafe is small and the service may take a bit if you are waiting for the food, but overall, I enjoyed my coffee and sandwich.
