Great service, they allowed us to try multiple flavors. Chose the lavender and honeycomb and it was delicious with a nice crunch. Plenty of seating. Highly recommend!
I have my favorite ice cream of all time, and for the first time ever, I genuinely thought I had a contender to replace it. Cali Cream was a great experience when visiting San Diego. Set in the heart of the Gaslight District and close to Petco Park, the house-made flavors are not only unique from your standard flavors but full of the ingredients that the flavor is named after. For me, it was Graham Central Station and a Lemon Cookie and Cream that was maybe the best single scoop I've had in a long time. In addition to flavor after flavor of ice cream (get a sampler of four flavors if you can't choose), they also have an assortment of cookies, treats, and Rice Krispy treats. There is literally something for everyone if you need a sweet treat on a hot day or after a downtown meal. At the end of the day, I still have my favorite ice cream establishment, but Cali Cream has solidified itself as my second favorite, which is still saying something!
I stumbled upon this place while walking by, and I'm so glad I did! The employee told me it's a family-owned shop that makes all of their ice cream in-house. There were so many flavors on the menu that I wanted to try them all, but I ended up going with the Butterscotch Toffee. It's so rare to find butterscotch or toffee flavored ice cream - this one combined both of them! I was sold the second I saw it on the menu. The best part? It had little crunchy toffee pieces mixed in, which gave it the perfect texture. So creamy, flavorful, and delicious. I'll definitely be back to try more flavors!
Yooooo this Cookie Monster flavor was unreal. Not too sweet so you could differentiate the taste of the cookie pieces and the ice cream. It's on the pricier side but honestly it was worth the treat! Waffle cone was average and not worth the extra charge. The staff member who helped us was super nice and let us try multiple flavors. There is outdoor seating but it's not the cleanest and you'll see some characters at night. But don't let that stop you from enjoying this great ice cream shop!!
Cali Cream always is great ice cream for the value you pay. Skip the chains and visit to get amazing ice cream, portions and variety of flavors for everyone. Service is great as employees are always so patient. This visit I tried Banana Pudding which was great after a few bites but became way too sweet. The marshmallow fluff or condensed milk mixture overpowers the banana ice cream and wafer (or cake) pieces. The following days I ate Kahua Coffee and Lavender Honeycomb and these were a home run.
The ice cream had so much good to say about it. It actually tasted like strawberry cheesecake and had the most delicious jam on it. The staff were amazing and had sit out and got us any samples we asked for as well as getting our ice cream as soon as we asked. The environment didn't have much to say about it. I mean it was pretty boring, they had some outside seating, but no chairs inside but honestly, the ice cream and service was too good for the environment to bring down the score.

We didn't sample, we just picked Pistachio and Banana Pudding. I liked that the banana pudding had bits of vanilla cookie mixed within. The pistachio left much to be desired as the flavor had an artificial flavor to it. Maybe it was just me but my bf also remarked that he was disappointed with the flavor as well. We did get a nice serving of each flavor and regretted not trying some other flavors before finalizing our choice. Ambiance is a typical ice cream shop with a few seats outside to enjoy your treat. Service was friendly and pricing was pretty good.
Ordering if a bit confusing when you get there, I think they need a much clearer way to explain the type of cup topping and cone options. Almost everyone that entered had to ask what the options are and also if there are kids cup options. The portions are very large, they do warn you! The mocha almond fudge was okay, the fudge wasn't enough and the mocha was not as strong as I've had at other places. The strawberry was okay as well. The Cookie Monster was okay as well, my child did not want to finish it. Which is a first! Ice cream is the favorite in our house! Everyone in our group wasn't a big fan of the ice cream, even with 10 different flavors that were ordered. This place didn't hit the spot like other places we have been to. Maybe when we're back in the area we'll try another flavor to give them another chance. Employees were nice, but they do need a better system with remembering a larger order and making sure everyone had their ice creams. I had to remind them how many ice creams we ordered and was still waiting on my ice cream when they finished checking us out. Little kinks they can work out and I'm sure they can improve.
70 flavors good ice cream and great portions. Price isn't bad for downtown. $6 and change for two scoops and sugar cone.
I stopped here while i was waiting for an event to start that i was attending. It was in waking distance for me, which is good because parking is only street parking or to find a paid lot. The flavor selection was pretty vast and they were generous with letting you try samples. They made sure to ask me if i had been there before, so they could explain things to me. He let me know they make their own ice cream. I sampled several flavors all of which were good. I was torn between the chocolate pecan and the bourbon butter pecan as they were both good. Thinking back maybe i should have gotten a combo of both, but i went with the bourbon pecan in a cup. The portion size was pretty good, and actually i couldn't finish the whole thing, even though i got a small. It was very creamy and has a good flavor, even though i didn't really taste the bourbon much, but there were plenty of whole pecans.. They also sell other baked goods that look really amazing. I will definitely need to come back to try more ice cream and maybe the carrot cake.
Cali cream was awesome! The ice cream tasted like it was homemade, we got 4 flavors for $9! The only I didn't like was the toffee bc it didn't taste like toffee. Thank you
Fun and good creamy flavors. The scoops are pretty big. I really liked the Oreo flavor. You can try flavors, but I fee kind of bad because the vats of flavors are spaced pretty far apart so the staff have to run around. There was a line Wednesday evening, but it was good to have a bit of a wait since it's hard to choose between all the fun flavors!
They close at 11pm. We got there at 10:39pm. First time coming here and we're not locals. Read good reviews so we thought we'd give it a try. They have so many unique and different flavors so I was excited to try something new. My daughter wanted to try the Purple Dinosaur because what in the world would that taste like? Right? But the answer we got was "We don't give out samples because we're almost closing." Um, you still have 20 minutes before you close, lady! So instead of spending 5 seconds to get a little taste of Purple Dinosaur she just told us "It's like grape skittle flavor with something something..." Huh? What? Thanks? That was a huge disappointment! HUGE! Since we were already here, we just ordered normal flavors that we knew what they'd taste like: Cookie Monster Oreo Dough Peanut Butter Salted Fudge They tasted average. Nothing exciting. My daughter couldn't eat the Oreo Dough. She said it tasted off. She held it in the cup until we got to our hotel (25 min). The ice cream never melted. I wish we had gone to Ghirardelli instead. So hard to choose when there's so many unique and delicious sounding flavors. We loved all the flavors we got. My husband got the coconut cream pie which is something we've never seen elsewhere and it did not disappoint. I got the bourbon pecan pie and one of the top 5 flavors which was a peanut butter mix. Both were really good. My daughter was so happy with the fizzy cotton candy which had pop rocks mixed in. They also a huge assortment of baked goods and will warm up the brownie for you. The service was very friendly and this will definitely be routine stop for us when visiting San Diego. read more
Cali Cream is still one of our favorite ice cream spots and a place we're always happy to come back to. The service continues to be excellent, and that goes a long way in making the whole experience feel welcoming. This time I had the strawberry and chocolate chip cookie dough in a cup, and my partner went with vanilla and rocky road, also in a cup. Everything was fresh, creamy, and exactly what we were hoping for. We also really love that they offer puppy ice cream cones for the dogs, which is such a fun extra touch. Perhaps one of the best ice cream places I've been to in a while! So many flavors to choose from! We ordered the doughy and got the Cookie Monster, Ube, dark chocolate, and black cherry. The black cherry by itself was meh but combined with the Ube was excellent! My favorite was definitely the Cookie Monster. Friendly staff. Clean shop. Limited seating outside. read more

The ice cream here was SO delicious. I am an ice cream connoisseur. I am obsessed with ice cream and I have to say this place absolutely impressed me. The staff were extremely friendly and nice. The prices are extremely fair for the quality and amount of ice cream you're getting. I wish I had more time in San Diego to try more of the flavors. I got the four scoop sampler and the lavender honeycomb. I went back the next day before I left to get more of it!!! 10 out of 10 recommend and I can't wait to come back! read more

We stopped here for a snack as we toured the Gas Lamp district and found our way to the waterfront. The kid and wife had ice cream. I had a chocolate brownie. The brownie was moist and flavorful. I was expecting there to be nuts but instead it had chocolate chips. That's a lot of chocolate! It tasted fresh and was a decent size for $5.50. Ice cream was $6.25 for a small dish and $6.25 for a small cone. The kid got some chocolate sauce for $1 extra. The bill came to $23 after tax and tip. read more
Cali Cream is such a delightful spot with great vibes and even better service. Glenda was absolutely amazing, a perfect example of warm hospitality paired with strong product knowledge. She made us feel completely at ease, encouraged us to try different flavors, and genuinely cared about helping us find something we'd enjoy. We ended up going with the Black Cherry, and it was phenomenal. Their ice creams are classy, incredibly tasty, fresh, and clearly made with a lot of love and care. They also make ice cream cakes, along with a few non-ice cream cake options, which is great for celebrations and special occasions. The store itself has a really great atmosphere, and a nice added touch is the water refilling station located near the cashier area, thoughtful and convenient. Ice cereal, ice cream, we all scream for Cali Cream! This spot was amazing, and the associates were fantastic. Bea was an absolute angel super knowledgeable and walked us through all the flavors. I highly recommend trying as much as you can. This was my last ice cream outing of the month, so I wanted a spot with a true wow factor, and Cali Cream delivered. Bea explained how fresh the ice cream is and that it's made weekly in-house, which really shows in the quality. And no artificial flavors all organically flavored and if you like nuts they're all from local nut farms! So go nuts I ordered the vanilla fudge sundae galore, and it was delicious. What a discovery! This not so hidden gem in the gaslamp district of downtown San Diego is serving up 70 different HOMEMADE flavors of ice cream is incredible! Generous with their samples as ice cream shops should be, the service was spectacular and the line moves fast. I went on a Wednesday night and the line was out the door, I suppose because it's spring break that folks are out and about. Rather than just ice cream that they're serving up, they also have cookies, brownies, homemade rice krispy treats, carrot cake, a paradise for people with a sweet tooth. I love the combination of salty sweet and sampled a few of the popular items, but the one that was suggested to me was divine. It was the salted caramel truffle and had a perfect combination of salty and sweet ratio. I'm wishing I discovered this place sooner, but this will be my go to whenever I am downtown. I wanted a little sweet treat after dinner, and found this spot on Yelp. After going in, I realized this is exactly like Handels which is one of my all time favorite ice cream spots. I got to try the graham central station, cookie monster, and oreo dough in a 4 scoop sampler with my friends. This is definitely the best deal you can get. Their flavors are all so unique, and the texture of the ice cream here is spot on. Highly recommend! read more

Cali Cream Ice Cream is a fun ice creamery offering a variety of ice cream, brownies , cookies, and cheesecakes. The offerings are very large desserts portions giving you the option to share. The customer service from the team was great, each attendant was courteous and yielded efficient service. If you're in Gaslamp quarter and looking for dessert Cali Cream Ice Cream has it; I definitely recommend! read more
This was the final place on a food tour I went on. They were known for their homemade ice cream and had a number of flavors to choose from. The staff was patient as the flavor was decided. I had a creamsicle and chocolate peanut butter brownie. The creamsicle was exactly what one would want when ordering this flavor. There was a nice mix of cream and orange flavoring here. It was light and refreshing too. The chocolate peanut butter brownie also had a nice balance. There was not too much chocolate, brownie, or peanut butter. It was very creamy without the scoop being heavy too. Will I go back? No doubt. read more

Are they open again yet? The temp closed notice on Yelp was taken down but i can't get anyone to answer the phone. I don't think i could take the disappointment of driving all the way down there in stupid traffic only for them to still be closed.
