Yiko Yiko is a hidden gem! We came here for the first time after hearing so much about it and we were pleasantly surprised. The interior is quite cute, the decor is nice & the bathroom is clean. It's a smaller sized shop with incredibly kind staff. I ordered a slice of the matcha crepe cake and a snowball (might be the wrong name) mochi to go. I believe my total was $18 before tip. The cake slice was $14 and mochi was $4 and some change with tax. I do feel that the prices are slightly high for a singular piece of cake but maybe there's more to it that I'm unaware of. Overall the cake and mochi were delicious and the service was great! Not an everyday or weekly treat by any means, but definitely a wonderful place to grab a sweet treat from!

This is my first time leaving a review, but not my first visit to Yiko Yiko! It's easily one of my favorite dessert spots in Convoy, especially whenever I'm craving mochi. I always go for the strawberry snowball mochi. I love how it's simple, fresh, and not overly sweet. The combination of the soft mochi and the strawberry is perfect and hits every single time. The service is consistently quick and friendly. The ambiance is also super cute, with decorations and cozy spots to sit and enjoy your treats. I absolutely love this place and will keep coming back!

They offered cakes and filled mochis. We got 4 mochi for $20. The options were strawberry, mango, red bean, durian and oreo. We chose everything but oreo. The mochi was pillowy soft. Each one was filled with cream and the fruit or bean. 10/10.

This dessert shop is decorated adorably & you can see the pretty desserts on display as you walk in. However, the prices for these desserts are quite high to keep in mind. We got to try the popular matcha mochi balls, which we thought was a bit underwhelming. * Matcha Mochi Balls - 7.6/10 (the texture of the mochi was almost runny-like, which we were not expecting. we prefer mochi that has more bounce and chewiness to it. the mochi itself was sweet, but the matcha flavor was not present despite how it looks covered in the powder. the cream was delicious & we enjoyed dipping it into the crunchy matcha flakes which were very yummy. overall, we are glad we got to try this, but it is more of a one and done deal for us)

One of my favorite dessert places in SD!! On a Saturday evening, we waited close to 30 minutes in line to order then another 20 minutes for them to make the desserts. Aside from the wait and limited seating, the desserts are sooo cute and fresh tasting! The mochi snowballs were delicious, I liked the mango while my bf liked the strawberry. They are a bit overpriced (~$5.5 for one) though

Melt in your mouth mochi. Flavor options are: Oreo, red bean, mango, strawberry, and durian. If I had to pick only one to recommend, it'd be the Oreo. Unique filling and, you guessed it, not too sweet. Steep price per piece hence the one star drop.

I've had Yiko Yiko in the past and wanted to get their popular mochi balls again and try some new items! Mango Cream Mochi (3/5): The mochi design is adorable and has a flower on top. The mochi consists of cream and mango filling inside. Upon a bite full of just cream, there only seemed to be little pieces of mango inside. The cream also did not have any sweetness to it, but was a great texture. Overall the mochi needs more mango! Matcha Crepe Cake (3/5): It tasted like it sat out all day so it was dry. Also, we got the matcha flavor, which pronounced this bitter taste, and no sweetness to it since they used the same crème as the mochi. Their mochi balls remain my favorite item as they are so chewy and fresh! Their mochi flour so fresh here so these were great with the dipping cream and crushed cookie bits. Yiko Yiko is definitely a must try dessert stop in Clairemont and could be a great choice if you're looking for smaller portioned desserts. They have cute cake designs that are unique and fit for any occasion! I do wish there were plates for sharing as it was a bit tricky to eat things like the cake slice.

okay, this review is long overdue. My buddies and I randomly discovered this place while looking for a dessert spot in the local area. Hands down, the best mochi I've ever had! Texture is soft, chewy, and fresh. Not overly sweet either, perfect for that Asian dessert palate :D Tried the mango, strawberry, and oreo snowball mochis. Each one was so incredibly delicious - fruits inside were ripe and oreo flavor was perfection. The dusted mochi balls were equally amazing if peeps aren't fans of cream fillings! Trust, this mochi place does it right! The shop has a handful of tables for people to hang and catch up with friends while snacking on the treats. Friendly service as well :)

A friend recommended this place to me and now I make sure to visit this place every time I come back to SD! It's a small shop with a good amount of seating, and the service is quick! Their mochi is extremely soft and stretchy and the filling is not too sweet. My favorites are definitely the durian and strawberry mochi! I'm excited to come back and try all of their other desserts~

I tried the mango mochi snowball (cream filled) as well as the chocolate mini mochi The mango mochi was super light and the cream was very fluffy and not too sweet at all. The mango was a lot smaller than I imagined, but maybe that's because it's not mango season. It was more like a cream mochi to me, but still good. The chocolate mochi was dusted in coco powder so it had more of a coco flavor, I think I'd try a different flavor next time but I loved the mousse you dip it in and the little crunchy flakes add the perfect crunch and sweetness.

Yiko Yiko's Durian Mochi lives in my mind rent free the durian is so fresh and has a custard-like consistency while the mochi is soft and pillowy. I also tried their strawberry mochi and their mango mochi, both of which were amazing as well! Plenty of seats if you're looking for a place to chill with friends or study. Staff was friendly and patient as I went back and forth on what I wanted to get so shoutout to them!

    Alan L.

The cake was amazing. The pistachio lava cake and the creme brulee crepe cake was out of this world. It was super crowded when we came so come early or do not expect to sit and eat. The cake was not too sweet, which was a plus and they have alot of variety as seen in the photos. They have many drinks too, but I mainly was eyeing on those cakes and so my daughter lol.

First time coming to yiko yiko, kept getting recommendations to go and try their mochi out. We got the red bean, mango, and strawberry mochi! It was very soft and so yummy. It was not busy during the time we came so we got to sit down anywhere. Definitely one of the places you can take aesthetic photos in along with the food.

Their cakes may be pricey, but…read morein my opinion, for the amount of work, effort, and quality of ingredients, I think they continue to be fair. For example, some other specialty bakeries/shops are charging similar prices for cakes and cheesecakes that are much simpler. In comparison, Extraordinary Dessert cakes take 3-4 days to make, have 6-8 alternating layers, and are typically adorned with edible gold and/or flowers. The key is to find which items you like and which are okay to pass on next time. What we ried this time: -Match Misu Cake (7/10): ricotta cake layers soaked in matcha and layered with marscapone whipped cream. This one was pretty good and ranks in my middle to high range. I only wish there was more matcha flavor (maybe if you dine in and get the sauce, this would help) or the matcha was paired with another flavor ... either go fruity (maybe a raspberry sauce, strawberry pieces, white peach pieces, or like a peach oolong cream layer) or go chocolately/coffee (maybe had some crushed up chocolate covered espresso beans). My go to's: -Ivoire Royale (10/10) - my ultimate favorite still. If you like light desserts, white chocolate, berries, and moist vanilla cake, thus one is for you. Classy and unpretentious -Shangrila (10/10) - my other favorite and will make you feel like a princess with all the pink chocolate curls. A little bit adventurous and innocently elegant. Ones to skip: -Au Chocolate / La Bete Noire / Dame Chocolate - get the Viking instead. That's my favorite of all their chocolate cakes -Lemon ricotta - get the Passionfruit Ricotta instead -Torta misu - the matcha misu is better. The tortilla misuse made me want a regular piece of tirmaisu than a cake version -Coconut cream - not bad, not amazing though

We politely asked if it would be possible to purchase a small cup of fruit , even just a couple strawberries cut up, because one child in our group cannot have sweets due to very strict dietary restrictions . Instead of simply saying they were unable to accommodate the request or offering another option, we were told to "go somewhere else," despite already spending the amount we did . The complete lack of professionalism and basic customer service was honestly shocking. It's disappointing to be treated that way at a place we have supported so consistently. This place has been going downhill , management for this place needs to step up .

Flour Atelier is a small bakery right next to the hovering Mitsuwa. They carry two refrigerated sections' worth of original treats and pastries, many with Asian flavors such as their ube leche flan and calamansi cheesecake. I'm a gluten free girly nowadays, but when I could eat their desserts I did love their cheesecake: a balance of cream-to-crust is important to me. And those flavors? Standout. Hard to find many other places. They also have tea and coffee, and my husband and I LOVE their hojicha latte, which boasts a nice earthy-to-sweet ratio. If you want a grounded flavor without getting another coffee, try the hojicha latte! The store itself is quite small, selling sweet treats, drinks, and even flowers through a collaboration with a florist. They have about 4 tables outside -- recommended for small parties, unless you come when it's empty with a group. BIG TIP: Bring your mother or mother-in-law here to impress -- that is, if she likes cute, sweet treats and a tea party vibe! My mom always loves coming here, and bringing the whole family, too Keep up the great work Flour Atelier!

Lines are always better with a friend and even though we all arrived before opening there was still a healthy line. I was really excited, to finally get to check them out, I saw on their socials that a new chef had taken residency and that they came with some Filipino flair. As a fellow Filipino I definitely wanted to support. I ended up ordering a lumpia roll, ube butter ensaymada, a halo halo tart and a egg sando sandwich along with an iced matcha with honey, with tip my total was $48, which isn't horrible considering these are meant to be higher quality pastries. My girlfriends and I found a table and decided we would share, I shared my egg sando sandwich and the lumpia roll, while they shared their ube butter ensaymada and the turon kouign amann. My matcha, was a horrible, it was a muddy green and really lacked any matcha flavor, my friend didn't like her matcha either and she had the miso caramel matcha. I didn't even finish my matcha and I can really take one down. We joked about how we should have opted for the orange juice instead. Now for the pastries, I was really underwhelmed by them, the ensaymada was just fine, I honestly cannot remember the taste of it, it lacked something. The egg sando sandwich, the filling was plentiful and flavorful BUT the bread was dry, was that potato bread? The texture was off for me and I ended up just scooping out the filling and eating it like that. Where the sando had a good amount of filling the lumpia roll lacked it, it was so sparse I figured it would be more like a sausage roll so I was taken aback by how little there was in it. Flavors were fine, the pastry was buttery but I just wanted a little more. The one pastry we agreed was better than the rest was the turon kouign amann, the crunchy bits of sugar was so reminiscent of turon but the filling, for me was like uncooked banana bread batter, that threw me off entirely. It was better, but not the filling. So overall, I would say it was okay, I guess for the costs it just didn't meet my expectations.
