Went to try the smoked Salmon bagel here because my wife raves about it so I went during my lunch break. Pretty cool spot to hang out with friends for some coffee and pastries. The workers were very nice and you can tell each one had their designated task so they were pretty efficient. I ordered 4 of the smoked salmon bagels togo and my order came out pretty fast even though there was a line with 6 people in front of me. When I got home I was amazed on how the bagel was prepared. It was super delicious! By far the best type of lox I've ever had. It had capers, pickled onions, the basics of a lox, some cucumber and tomatoes, seasoning, and I didn't notice until my relative mentioning there was lemon zest. I think everyone should try this.
Love this little gem! This place is super cozy for a quiet/chill study area or little hangout with friends. I love getting their scallion cream cheese bagel for breakfast + the almond cakes! They just added a biscoff latte to their menu & I asked if they could make a biscoff matcha instead & they did! Always friendly service & a nice cozy spot to check out!
Finally got a chance to try the Cakery. Got a slice of their passion fruit basque cheesecake and it is a little pricey for the size you get. The taste is amazing though! Definitely a place to go to if you want a little treat for yourself. Service is attentive - ordering was easy. Ambiance is pretty minimal and great for folks those who are remote or students.
Long due in draft review and finally I have the chance to write wonders about this fantastic place. My first time was during Valentines weekend one of my besties invited me to go there and we had the famous caneles and there were exquisite. The Cakery is very minimalist Japanese style although the pastries are so very French. If you have to be in the Sorrento Mesa area, do not think twice and go get your sweet stuff there, is it very worth it!
One of my favorite new cafes Go here if you want a matcha forward drink that's not too sweet. Space This business is in more of an industrial area and not on the main road. We went around 1pm on a Saturday and it there was seating space and no line. Glad it's not overcrowded. Aesthetics The aesthics are a trendy style of light wood, minimalism neutrals, and metals accents with the dishware and chairs. The menu is Korean inspired, and reminds me of the trendy cafes in South Korea. They have plants from The Plant Daddies that I really adore. This is the kinda place I'd love to come and journal or work on my laptop Food & Drink What I like is that you can adjust the sweetness of the drinks, you just have to ask. Matcha latte - 25% sweetness, I can actually taste the matcha, which is rare for San Diego. Injeolmi matcha - 50% sweet, I can taste the injeolmi flavor but it's not overpowering so a good balance Sweet rum flavored canele - I've been getting into canele recently so I tried this one. Unfortunately this canele was pretty mediocre. The outside is supposed to be crispy and crunchy, but this one seems not as fresh. The inside is still nice gooey Ube cheesecake - a good cheesecake. If you like cheesecake, they have so many flavors available.
Service was great. My Matcha Cinnamon Almond Milk Latte was delicious. The Egg Sando was bland, which is why I'm giving them 3 stars. I'd like to come back and try their cheesecake. They have plenty of other pastries, along with an assortment of cheesecake flavors. I also liked how clean and minimally designed their cafe is. Parking was also a breeze because they're situated in a plaza with plenty of space. The Mon Chourie Cream Puff was delicious. They happened to have a pop up and we preordered them!! 10/10 you gotta try it.
I tried the Eggy Sando (3/5). It had a very mild flavor. I also tried the Jolly Brown Latte (5/5). It was not too sweet and did not taste too strongly of coffee. I want to go back to try other sandwiches and cheesecakes. Mon Chourie had a Pop Up there. I really enjoyed the Korean style cream puffs that we preordered. They were ready at our pickup time. Service was good. They have indoor seating only. It was easy finding parking.
I stopped by The Cakery Cafe and had a bit of a mixed experience. The matcha latte was really good--perfectly smooth, earthy, and well-made. However, I was pretty disappointed with the carrot cake, as the texture and flavor just didn't hit the mark for me. It's a cute spot with nice service, but for a place with "cakery" in the name, I expected a bit more from the baked goods.
I'm so glad we decided to grab lunch at Cakery Cafe! The interior has a great vibe--it's extremely clean, tidy, and inviting, and the friendly, helpful service makes you feel right at home. We tried the Greenhouse and the Cakery Grilled Chicken, and I was seriously impressed. The food came out straight from the kitchen steaming hot, incredibly fresh, and bursting with flavor. The chicken was tender and perfectly seasoned. We paired our meal with a hot pistachio latte and an iced matcha with cream, both of which were crafted perfectly. Great vibes, pristine space, and phenomenal fresh food!
This place is amazing! First of all, it's spacious and you can sit in there and work or meet friends, & enjoy a nice, quiet atmosphere. Their desserts are truly exceptional and delicious! Next time, I want to try their Matcha and sandwiches. There is ample parking, which is always helpful. I would highly recommend The Cakery Cafe for any dessert needs or just to relax with a yummy snack & beverage. Definitely a great place to buy a special gift from. A special & big thanks to EJ!
Cute little place that's somewhat hidden in the village area. Inside is very simple, clean and bright. The cheesecakes are tasty but texture is a bit denser and tops less carmelized/burnt than the basque cheesecake. Prices are a bit high for the portion but still overall nice for an occasional treat.
My friend and I stopped by The Cakery Friday morning, and no wait! Parking was a breeze, the cafe was clean, and so photogenic! We received great service and quickly got our drinks - we ordered the iced earl grey matcha and it was so good! I think they add earl grey syrup in the foam and the drink itself. It was perfectly balanced with the earthy matcha! I'm looking forward to coming back and trying out the basque cheesecake and caneles (:
Love the cheesecake. We saw an Instagram of the cheesecake and we love it once we ate it. It was not like any other cheesecake. It was not overly sweet as it balance with the cheesecake. It had that awesome crunch to it. It was worth the 21 dollars for this cake and even though it was kind of on the high end side, it was a limited time dessert that is worth once in a while. Didnt know there was gold on top of the cheesecake as it was my first time eating anything like it. The pistachio latte was delicious as well and kind of balance the sweetness with the bitterness. Will come here again and will order the lemon dessert for my daughter. If you want to come here for the Dubai chocolate cheesecake, I would recommend calling the Cafe to see if they have any as it is only for a limited time and only on the weekends. The staff and owner are really nice people.
I was looking for a new cafe to try on a Saturday morning and found this place on Yelp. I stopped by around noon, and it wasn't too busy. There were so many sandwiches, cheesecakes, and bakery items to choose from that I had a hard time deciding. The staff was so kind and recommended some items. My favorite was definitely the greenhouse sandwich. The vegetables were incredibly fresh, and the bagel was warmed just right. I also tried a few bakery items. The double matcha canelé had a great texture with a crisp exterior and soft interior, but my absolute favorite was the double early grey financier. The earl grey flavor really stood out and made it the winner for me. I also tried the yuzu cheesecake, but honestly, it didn't taste too different from the lime cheesecakes I've had elsewhere. The cafe has plenty of tables and chairs, making it a comfortable spot to sit and enjoy your time chatting with a friend or working/studying. Overall, this place literally made my Saturday morning perfect, and I would definitely come back as a regular on weekends. read more
Came here to study one morning as their nyc apollo bagel dupe caught my eye on social media. My boyfriend really enjoyed his hojicha but my pear sparkling drink really didn't have much pear going on. As a bagel lover, I can say this was no nyc bagel but it got the job done. It was a little soggy and kinda overkilled with too much dill and pepper. But, I will say that I still craved it the next day. They need a big fat sign saying they stop serving food at 2 pm because I did come the next week with some friends and they had all the food in the display still but told us they stopped serving food. That was enough for us to take our business elsewhere and not even bother with the drinks. They have an okay amount of seating but really only one big table in the back for people that are studying/working. More of a place to come socialize with friends for a bit than a study spot which is okay too. read more
I've tried this cute cafe a few times, and their pastries are pretty good. I've also recently tried a bunch of flavors of their cheesecake but only a few were really good. Yuzu - really good yuzu flavor, one of my faves Chocolate - I forget the exact name of this one but it has chocolate in it, really nice rich chocolate flavor, also a favorite Matcha - the matcha flavor is there but it's too bitter, it needs more sweetness Ube - very mild ube flavor, was ok Coffee - this one was also ok, kind of tastes like those coffee candies you get Black sesame - the most disappointing flavor, it was such a faint black sesame flavor, totally NOT the rich roasted black sesame flavor you would expect, maybe they are using unroasted black sesame I would only get the yuzu and chocolate cheesecakes again. I've also tried their matcha latte but it was standard, not memorable, but I would try their other drinks. read more

Finally stopped by for some coffee and desserts since we were in the area. The space is small yet gave minimal aesthetic vibes. The baristas were friendly, knowledgeable, and offered excellent recommendations. We ordered the yuzu financier, flat white, and pistachio latte. The financier had a dense texture and leaned a bit too sweet for my preference. However, both the pistachio latte and flat white were well-balanced, smooth, and full of flavor. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area. read more
The Cakery Cafe is another new place that has organized itself in a suite amongst the industrial warehouses in the Miramar neighborhood. There must be a good deal on the leasing terms as the area has become an incubator for these kinds of fledgling businesses (e.g. bakeries, cafes, dessert shops, etc). Open parking spaces were not an issue as this was not a high traffic district. I was surprised at how many customers were seated when I arrived. The dining area was not huge with assorted stools, benches, and small round tables making up most of the seating. Two four-top tables were the largest accommodations available. On two ledges leading up to the service counter were models (artificial?) of some of the available desserts. More savory and sweet products were on display inside separate glass cases next to the counter. Two menu sheets were spread out in front of the register. The left one listed the six sandwiches and a pastry (Espresso Muffin). The right page showed the coffee and tea offerings. I decided to order a Ham & Cheese sandwich along with a slice of Cookies & Cream cheesecake. Ham, cheese, tomato, lettuce, and mayo were placed in between toasted artisan bread, cut in half, and wrapped in wax paper. It was a little pricey ($13) for the size of the sandwich which tasted okay. The piece of cheesecake was dense. You could see the dark spots of the cookies blended in with the cream to make up the middle of the dessert. The slice was taller rather than longer, but the product was still creamy and filling. The service was friendly and efficient. If it wasn't for the driving distance, then I would come back more frequently to sample other goodies from The Cakery Cafe. read more
The assortment of desserts and drinks here are amazing! Try to go here early in the day because they definitely run out of items quickly. Also, they don't have a lot of seating, so you can either wait for a table or just take it to go. One slice of the black sesame basque cheesecake was $8.50, but it was really filling. It was the perfect balance of flavors, and I love how the black sesame flavor really came through. The yuzu white chocolate financier was so unique, and I like how it wasn't too sweet. I also got the iced earl grey matcha, which is a matcha latte with an earl grey cloud. This was also pretty pricy at $8.25, and then adding oat milk costs an additional $0.50. It was a tasty drink though, and I'd order it again. On a different day, I was in a savory mood and got the Signature Club sandwich ($14.50) which came with turkey, ham, bacon, cheese, lettuce, and tomato on wheat bread. This sandwich was pretty filling, but my friend's Cakery Grilled Sandwich ($14.50) looked really juicy so I think I'd get that instead next time. Overall, despite the higher prices, this is a solid choice for desserts and drinks. read more
I visited for the first time recently and loved the vibe! The earl grey matcha latte was amazing, not too sweet, and had great flavor. Delinda, the worker at the front counter, was super pleasant and gave us great recommendations. They also have free wifi and good seating. I would study here or just come for a coffee chat. amazing beautiful wonderful the matcha is sooo strong and yummy, you can tell they use high quality matcha powder. also not too sweet even with their amazing cream tops. you have to try the earl grey and the injeolmi cream tops, they are so delicious. the cakery grilled chicken sandwich is also a must try. the mustard bbq sauce is life changing and all the ingredients taste so fresh and healthy. such an adorable cafe too that's not too busy because it's tucked away. read more
I absolutely love the basque cheesecake from the Cakery in Carmel Valley and was so excited when they opened one closer to me here! There's some seating inside this location which is nice. We ordered a couple slices of cheesecake which were delicious as always and this was the first time I tried their drink. I tried the injeolmi matcha and it was soo good. I usually like drinks that aren't too sweet and it was the perfect balance for me and I love the nuttiness of the injeolmi. Prices aren't cheap but I love their food & drink so much, I can't help it :') read more
This place is great! The space is has a nice small cafe feel and has a lot of natural lighting adding to the chill vibes. We tried the injeolmi matcha latte and it's definitely a must try! I got 30% sugar but I think they recommend 50%. If you're a less sugar person for boba I feel 30% is fine. The yuzu cheesecake is always hits but nice to try hojicha. read more
Located in Miramar. They have a small parking lot but there is also street parking. Check their instagram as their hours may change. You walk in the right side, look at the desserts in the middle for a close up. The display case and menu are closer to the register. They sell desserts, drinks and food. Staff are nice and everything comes out quickly. They have one large table, two tables in the middle and small benches along the wall with chargers but I would not recommend to work from here as it is very small as seating is limited. Tried: The Garden Turkey $12.99 Turkey, Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, Red Onion, with Mayo and Mustard. Make sure to ask for it to be toasted. Onions were very sharp. Usually pretty good. The Signature Club $14.50 Turkey, Ham, 2 slices of Havarti Cheese, Bacon, Lettuce, and Tomato on toasted Wheat Bread. Good, I switch between this and the other sandwiches as my fav's. Iced Earl Grey Matcha $8.25 - good Iced double Hojicha $8.25 - good Vanilla Latte $6.50 - good hot but small Cookies & Cream slice $8.50 - just okay Matcha slice $8.50 - just okay Prices are a little high for the desserts which are very small. The drinks are also priced fairly high as well. I would come back for their sandwiches. I love that you can get them for breakfast! read more
This place feels pretty new, when asked they said they've only been open since November 2025. It's a great spot to study or get some work done, and there's plenty of parking in the lot, which is great. I ordered a latte, which was good, but they didn't have a "for here" cup, which was a bit of a bummer. I also tried the cinnamon coffee muffin, and it just wasn't for me, although they had a lot of other pastries, so maybe I just picked the wrong one. The staff was friendly and clearly working hard, which I appreciated. All the high tables were occupied, so I ended up sitting at one of the lower tables on the floor and honestly, it turned out to be surprisingly comfortable. read more
The Cakery opened it's own cafe?!!! Their lil shop in Carmel Mountain was already a hit, so I was so excited when I heard they opened a cafe. My favs are the earl grey n white chocolate earl grey madeleines!!! Not overpowering, but such great earl grey flavor. Light but creamy filling and a moist, airy cake. GET THE YUZU CHEESECAKE It was my first time getting their yuzu flavor and the light citrus pairs soooo well with the cheesecake. Quite literally mind blown. Not heavy like other cheesecakes! And how did they make the yuzu taste fresh?! The matchas were on the pricier end, but had great flavor and they perfected their earl grey flavor for their matcha. It's a cute, small, but open cafe. I wouldn't say it's the type of cafe meant for people to study, but will be going back for the desserts :) oh and I will say some of their desserts sell out quicker than others, so I recommend going earlier to see all their options read more
Such a cool new cafe and bakery sandwiched between Sorrento Mesa and Miramar on Trade St off Camino Santa Fe. Luckily for me, it is also a coffee shop and they offer some great coffee. I ordered the Golden Croissant breakfast sandwich and a drip coffee. The croissant sandwich came with a fluffy egg scramble, savory ham, avocado, and cheese for $10.00 plus tax. The eggs were well prepared and lightly seasoned. The croissant was very good. It had a good butter texture with a nice crispiness on its exterior. It was a delicious croissant breakfast sandwich. The cakery offers a melee of decadent desserts, including espresso muffins for $5.50 and a variety of beautiful cheese cakes. The Cakery offers a full espresso bar and offer teas as well. If you need to get your matcha fix, they have you covered. The young ladies at the counter were very nice. There's plenty of room here to lounge, chat, and have meetings. The Cakery is nestled in the warehouse roads in Miramar and can be a bit of a journey to get to but its worth it. They make a killer Canele and Madeline. I wanted to try a financier but my wife ate it all before I had a chance. I look forward to trying everything else on the menu! read more
A new dessert shop and cafe tucked away in Miramar! It is a beautiful space with a good amount of parking. There are some chairs and tables for seating as well. A great spot for coffee/matcha, desserts, and conversations! The madeleines were the moistest and softest madeleines I've EVER had! They were not dry at all and had amazing flavor. We tried the Dark Rocher (highly highly recommended trying!!) and White Chocolate Earl Grey. We also tried the Espresso Basque Cheesecake, which was creamy and rich with coffee flavor that perfectly complimented the richness of the dessert. Now, the drinks here are also a hit! We tried the double hojicha and earl grey matcha. Double hojicha was perfection and had amazing hojicha flavor. Best hojicha latte is SD! The earl grey matcha was also very delicious and had a good balance of flavors. Sweetness was great at 100% for both drinks. Definitely check out The Cakery Cafe if you have a sweet tooth and need a little sweet treat! read more
The Cakery Cafe is a new Korean-French fusion bakery that just opened up in the Miramar area. My girlfriend and I decided to try it out on a Sunday afternoon and it was pretty busy but still plenty of seating! They had smaller tables and bigger tables for those who want to sit and chat, or sit and get some work done. They had decorative displays of their pastries by the area where you line up and the rest of what they have to offer on the shelf on the front counter. They offer savory sandwiches, madeleines, and cheesecake. We opted to try their sweet pastries and ordered some drinks to go along with it. I ordered the Double Hojicha Latte and I was blown away. I am a big hojicha fan and typically don't see this type of drink offered in cafes so I knew I had to try. The hojicha cream paired with the hojicha latte itself had a very rich, roasted tea flavor that I loved. My girlfriend got the Earl Gray Matcha Latte, which was amazing as well. The Earl Gray cream top wasn't too sweet and had a great flavor to it. You can really taste the quality of the matcha and we were pleasantly surprised with how good both drinks were! With the pastries, I can go on and on about them. I thoroughly enjoyed all of them. The Dark Rocher Madeleine was my favorite, surprisingly. I was scared it would be too sweet with how much chocolate but they truly nailed the flavor. The chocolate wasn't overpowering and the madeleine itself was very soft and moist. I don't think you can go wrong with trying any of their flavors! Overall, this cafe truly surprised me with how good everything was and I can only give my highest recommendations! I've only tried the whole cheesecakes and bagel sandwiches and both were delicious. The sandwich is really refreshing with a chewy bagel. The flavor is not too strong. Their basque cheesecakes come in a variety of Asian inspired flavors like ube, black sesame, early gray, yuzu, and mix more! You can get slices or a sampler to try things out. You can also order ahead of time online (no earlier than 3 days ahead I believe? ) Service The owner is very nice and friendly! I have seen her at both store fronts and the craft markets in San Diego and she's always smiles and positivity! One weird moment I did have was when they asked for my name. The desserts here are delicious! It's a very minimalistic space that's perfect for studying, but is a little bit small so can get packed easily. Service is quick and easy. I would come back to try more flavors of their different desserts for sure! read more
My husband has stopped by twice in the past few weeks to surprise me with mid-morning treats, and somehow each visit outdoes the last. This morning's delivery included cakes, a hojicha latte, madeleines, and a croissant breakfast sandwich... every bite was delectable. I haven't even visited in person yet, but honestly, the experience already speaks for itself. When he walks into my office with those beautifully packaged goodies...branding polished down to the smallest detail, even the cutlery--it turns heads. My coworkers are equal parts impressed and envious. If this is the impression from takeout alone, I can only imagine how delightful it must be in person. read more
friend ordered the regular matcha for me. regular sugar and asked for no ice since it was for later and wow. i expected the cup to be a little emptier because of the ice but the cup was more than half empty the cup is already small as it is and the portion they filled was the skinnier portion of the cup as well. for $7.5, that was a little crazy and very disappointing. the matcha was decent, definitely can taste the matcha and the quality was good. i got normal sugar which was perf for me and the oat milk made the matcha flavor standout imo read more
Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon and surprised it wasn't busy. A lot of seating area with minimalistic interior. The baristas were super friendly! Ordered a hojicha latte with hojicha cream too, top tier if you like hojicha! Not too sweet and a great balance with hojicha powder and milk. We tried the lemon and vanilla Madeline and both were sooo soft and good flavor. You could definitely taste the lemon and vanilla. The canele had a nice outer crunch and soft vanilla flavor inside. Love minimalistic modern decor. Maybe a few more community tables for people who want to dine in. My Turkey sandwich was simple (Turkey, tomatoes, lettuce. Red onions, and mayo) but tasted fresh and delicious. My wife's espresso cheesecake was light and tasty. The server was especially nice, prompt, and friendly. read more

I've been wanting to come to The Cakery for a while now and then I heard that they opened a Cafe version. This location is in an odd spot, sort of surrounded by businesses. The lot is very small and so even though they have some seating it is not a place to stay for a long time. In my opinion! -- Which I don't mind...buy a drink, eat some pastries, and enjoy! Then continue your day. The interior is modern and minimalist. I like the plant they chose to have around the space as it felt very open and bright. The price is a little on the expensive side compared to other bakery spots, but it definitely evens out because the quality is high! The textures, consistency, and taste was all superb which is hard to come by in pastries (like what they offer). We ordered Espresso Basque Cheesecake. I am actually not a cheesecake fan, but always wanted to give these a try. I know of them having no crust and a slightly creamy texture. It's supposed to be lighter than the New York style cheesecakes. Originally, I thought the basque cheesecake slices in the case were small, but after eating I think it's the perfect size or actually quite generous. My brother and I shared one and near the end of it we were slowing down and getting full. This one I think actually had a slight crust and I'm not complaining since I do enjoy the crusts! The basque cheesecake was actually a bit more firm than I thought it would be, but not as firm as the OG style you'd eat. The cheese notes were not super overpowering, slight tang, and the espresso was lightly there. I personally would enjoy more of an espresso oomph especially for $8 slice. But overall, it was not bad! I think next time, I'd try maybe one of their other flavors like Ube, Chocolate (Valrhona), Passionfruit, or Cookies & Cream! I also purchased 2 Cannelé de Bordeaux. These were absolutely DIVINE!! They were $4 each, but mini in comparison to other bakeries that have sold it. Despite the size, the flavor was UNMATCHED!! I've never ate a better tasting cannelé in San Diego! This cannelé reminded me of France. You had that delightful caramelized exterior and the interior was beautifully custardy with specks of vanilla bean and what tasted like a hint of rhum at the end. I could have eaten the entire case if I saved up $$! They also have drinks like coffee, matcha, and hojicha. I think they are more known for their matcha and hojicha. My brother ordered their $8.25, Iced Black Sesame Matcha with Oat Milk (+.50 cents). He said it was flavorful without being overly sweet and the matcha was prominent. Although the size was smaller compared to other matcha locations and lots of ice was given, making the quantity less than other places. Which in the end, he thought the price a little too high for him to make this a place where he comes back to for a drink. And I'm an iced coffee lover, but $6.50 for a vanilla latte is a bit steep. It was our first time at The Cakery so if they had any special deals (like 4 for $ or 6 for $) for the pastries, I think it would be nice to mention to people who might be ordering. Kind of like upselling, but not in a pushy way of course. Something else would be, making the tags a little more clearer as to which pastry it belongs to & with the price. There was a floating sign that mentioned salted caramel and I was almost thinking that they made a salted caramel cannelé lol. I think it would be cool if they made different flavored cannelé since they have such a great base already! I will be back to try other pastries- aka the Madelines. read more

The Cakery Cafe is a beautiful cafe and has excellent drinks and desserts! I came here specifically for the matcha and was not disappointed. But note that they do run out of supply closer to the end of the day. I first visited on a Friday afternoon at 1:30, half an hour before they close but they were sold out of matcha and their earl grey cloud, which is what I came for. So instead, I got their black sesame hojicha, which is a roasted green tea drink similar to matcha. It was a well balanced drink and the black sesame flavor complimented the tea well! I came back on a Saturday morning and got a earl grey matcha and canele pastry. The earl grey cloud was sooo tasty. The matcha itself wasnt too sweet, which was perfect for my taste! It is good quality matcha. I also tried one of their caneles, which had a crispy exterior and soft interior, and a delicious vanilla flavor! It is a bit expensive at $4.50 for a small dessert, but it is so yummy so I think it is worth it. I also tried their espresso cheesecake, it was a very subtle espresso flavor, and again, not too sweet. The slice was small but dense, and again a bit pricey at $9. They do have a nice minimal, classy interior. I love the clean look and their cool plants. There is a sun roof too so a good amount of natural light coming in. It is always busy when I visit, so most seating areas are full. They have some small benches and tables, and a smaller number of tables for working. It looks like a nice place to hang out but maybe not to stay for long to work. Overall, this is a great addition to the Miramar area and I will be returning for my matcha and dessert fix! read more
