The baristas were very friendly with helping me choose my drink and made sure my first experience was the best it could have been. I tried both the banana matcha and hot chocolate marshmallow drink. Both were fantastic, but I liked the matcha more personally. It had a clean aftertaste, with mellow notes of sweetness and creaminess. One of the better matcha I have had in the city for sure. Picked up two delicious drinks - the Coco Ube Latte and the Ube Matcha - and both were delicious, 5/5 drinks. Our service was great, and though it was semi-busy our drinks came out within 5-10mins. The cafe is spacious and modern with plenty of small tables if you want to hang out and study with your laptop for a few hours. Parking is easy in the adjacent lot. I've been to Em's a couple times now due to the convenience of how close it is from my place, what got my attention were the variety of matcha flavors! So far I've tried the Einspanner, Ube, and now the banana matcha and they were pretty good! The flavor tasted smooth and balanced instead of overly sweet like some places, I'd say this place has a slight grassier taste. The only thing I'll say that kinda bummed me out was how the banana matcha tasted, I don't know if it was because I got oat milk or if I got less sweet or if it was just the drink itself--I couldn't taste the banana flavor at all and had a weird consistency in my mouth, kinda like slime lol. It might've been the adjustments I've made, still a good drink however for it being $11 (I got a large) I wouldn't really recommend. I forget the cashiers name but it was a nice gentleman working yesterday (Wednesday) around 12pm that helped me and my mom. Ordered the egg vietnamese coffee and of course it was amazing. Theres not a lot of places that can make Vietnamese coffee with a twist with all these other flavoring without taking away that strong vietnamese coffee flavor. Em Coffee House really has that down. Lovely coffee place, I like that they have a coffee flight option so you can try out several flavors without committing to a full size drink, however it was a bit of a bummer that the flight cup size had a bit too much ice in it and the sizing resulted in a higher "cream" to coffee ratio. It is an economical way to try several flavors, but probably not the best representation of the flavors. The matcha drinks were solid and they were running a buy one get 50% off promo when I visited, so we did opt to get full size drinks of this. The flavoring tends to be on the sweet side for my taste, so we ordered at least 50% or less sweetness. Interior is clean and modern, but limited seating when they are busy. They don't have a water dispenser, but you can ask a staff member who will give you cups of water upon request. Parking seemed decent as it is in a large shared lot. read more

Em was very busy on Saturday morning with nearly every table occupied. It was great to see so many people enjoying coffee, matcha, food, and flights of different drinks. I ordered a small Em while the hubby ordered a large. It's the classic coffee that was iced with condensed milk. It was more bitter than I'd like but had the right amount of sweetness and creaminess to it. Their matcha options look interesting and a few people ordered the flight of drinks. Every time I'm in Mira Mesa, this is my go-to spot for an iced matcha fix. I usually order the banana iced matcha with almond milk or the pandan iced matcha--both are so good. I love how clean and comfortable the space is; it's perfect for getting some computer work done or journaling. The staff is always kind and helpful, and they'll easily provide the Wi-Fi password and bathroom code when needed. Must be my lucky day because the service here was quick and easy on MLK Day! I absolutely enjoyed the Pandan Coconut Matcha. They use ceremonial grade matcha, which I've learned is the highest quality available. The quality really shows it's delicious. The flavor was so smooth, vibrant, and naturally sweet without any of that harsh bitterness. I also tried the Marble Latte, which was okay. I think it would taste even better with traditional condensed milk instead of regular milk for that extra richness. It's a cute spot with lovely decor. This is a great place for studying - tons of tables and outlets along the booth tables. Wifi and restroom available. No issue with parking. Relatively quiet inside. Tables have signs suggesting a maximum 3 hour stay. I came on a Friday night and it was basically empty. I got a lychee tea while I was here. Quite sweet, basically a sweet tea you would get from a boba store without the boba. My friend got the matcha and thought it was average. They seem to be better known for their Vietnamese coffee so would try that if I came back. The do have rewards and offer a free size upgrade for leaving a Yelp review which is very customer service oriented. IMPORTANT: Their yelp hours are wrong, they close at 7pm everyday! Located in a busy plaza in Mira Mesa, Em Coffee House is a cute local cafe perfect for studying. I say busy, but parking isn't super difficult to find. There's also plenty of indoor seating for studying solo or in groups. I stopped by here after grocery shopping at the next-door Seafood City. One coco pandan matcha for myself and a matcha einspanner for a friend. I'm a sucker for pandan, especially when mixed with matcha, and this pandan matcha was decent. It was a good balance of both matcha and pandan, but definitely not the best I've ever had. My friend got the matcha einspanner and enjoyed how creamy it was. Both lattes weren't too sweet or too milk-forward. While they do have great drinks, I feel like their drinks are too sweet for me. I know I could go for less sugar and have more caffeine but it's still really sugary for me. But their pastry they have is pretty good when warmed up.
