Matcha tea with original cheese cap
Jennifer C.

Decent matcha option and the space is really nice. Came on a Tues after lunch and it was pretty busy but we were able to find a spot to sit right away. Lots of tables that make the space nice for smaller and bigger groups. I was surprised to see they also had ice cream but I was there to try the matcha drinks. They also had hojicha. I got the matcha tea with the original cheese cap on top. Adjusted it to 25% sweetness. The matcha tea is not just matcha and water. They use a matcha base that has some dairy in it which I thought was kind of odd. The drink itself was actually fairly light on matcha flavor even though the color was pretty dark. Not sure I'd come back since there are so many good matcha options in SD but happy I tried.

Black sesame

The cafe is gorgeous, and very work friendly . There are outlets everywhere , something I appreciate as someone with a chronically dead computer . The colors inside are warm and cozy. The parking lot is insane , but there is street parking too. I will say, I am not a fan of the black sesame matcha here , however the pumpkin is to die for . Definitely worth a try if you're in the area, might even become your new work place :) Just make sure you bring noise cancelling headphones, the music is loud. Also could do without the ai pics ! Update : the music was so loud I had to leave, and the lack of soy milk has me subtracting a star.

Got the Banana Pudding Matcha and was really good. The inside was clean and spacious. Would recommend if you're looking for a good matcha.

Cute place, very clean and aesthetic. The matcha was delicious. They have many options including ice cream and cheese cake and they offer samples. The salted matcha was delicious. Highly recommend and the ube ice cream! The parking is horrible but you can find street parking outside of the parking lot usually.

Coming from OC/LA, matcha is quite mid. We were recommended some banana matcha as their most popular drink and it just tasted like an average sweet starbucks drink or something. The drink was also 9 dollars lol so yeah that's a hard pass for me. It was a decent place to study/work but wifi is SUPER slow and rush hour gets pretty packed. Drinks: 4/10 Service: 5/10 Atmosphere: 8/10 Vaue: 4/10

Definitely recommend this place. A friend said the only other location they've had this was in Las Vegas. The service was very fast and efficient. Some of the best matcha I've ever had. Ambiance is aesthetic. The Matcha Kuromitsu was very smooth and delish. I added jelly which made it taste amazing. The whipped cream was a little too much. Could order without it. The egg sandwich was very delicious. Amazing place. Would come here again. Matcha Kuromitsu: 4.5/5 Egg Salad Sandwich: 4.5/5

Matcha lychee sparkler
Beverly E.

I had this place bookmarked for a while and happened to be in the area, so I'm glad I finally got to try it! If you're a matcha lover, there are plenty of options to choose from--from lattes and sparklers to desserts. I ordered the matcha lychee spritz, and it definitely hit the spot! It was super refreshing, especially on a hot day. If you like lychee and matcha, I highly recommend this option. They go so well together, and the shot of matcha on top was a nice way to end the drink. Location: They're in the same plaza as China Max, so there's plenty of parking, but the plaza can get crowded pretty quickly! I'll be back to try other things

Friendly service. Plenty of space inside. Welcoming for those to meet up and work. Clean bathrooms. Seasonal drinks. Lots of flavor and matcha tastes fresh. So much yum and good vibes!

Matcha yuzu sparkling refresher
Kimberly T.

Got the matcha yuzu sparkling refresher. Originally was planning to get a matcha latte with a cream top but it's been hot and I wanted something light and refreshing so when I saw this on the menu I thought it'd be perfect. One of the employees in the front also recommended this one out of the 3 or 4 refreshers they offered. This was really good! Think matcha lemonade from Starbucks but like way better. You can really distinguish the matcha and the yuzu and they pair very well together! Lots of space to study or work. Saw outlets against the walls which was very nice. Note that there is a rush sometime between 6-8 or at least when I came in on Wednesday and that's when it gets quite crowded. I'd definitely come back to try another one of their drinks! No complaints here.

Banana Pudding Matcha

This is my favorite matcha place in San Diego at the moment, specifically for their banana pudding matcha! The matcha itself is sweet, smooth, and well balanced. The banana pudding topping is creamy, thick, and has a lovely banana flavor! The drinks are made fairly quickly. There are lots of tables and outlets, and WiFi is available, so it is also a great place to study!

Came during soft opening! Matcha Lychee Sparkler - I didn't expect to like this but the way this is a perfect mix of lychee and matcha.. it's a good sweetness and sparkling too?? I'm not mad at it. This is a refreshing drink, surprisingly I'm sure I'd order again Banana Pudding Matcha - good quality matcha and the banana does not overpower Appreciate how they have sparklers + soft serves :)

Matcha pumpkin latte & matcha with strawberry cream & vanilla ice cream
Zay S.

If you're a matcha lover, Urban Matcha is definitely a spot to check out! The matcha was so good, and I love finding places that actually deliver on flavor. The whole matcha vibe is a 10/10, and it's definitely worth adding to your list if you're always on the hunt for your next matcha fix! The service is always very quick

Desserts: 5/5 We got a blood orange scone and a strawberry danish. The scone was warm and delicious. The orange essence was well infused. The danish was crispy and creamy. Everything was so picturesque. Food: 3/5 Unfortunately, the food was not the best. We got the smoked salmon sandwich which was not very flavorful. The salmon was also slimy. The pesto spread was good though. It was creamy and the artisan bread it was served had great variety. Ambiance: 5/5 This place is such super cute. When you walk in, the desserts all look super appetizing. The seating areas are super cute and the floral decor are stunning. Service: 5/5 It is an order then sit down establishment. This was not our first time visiting Extraordinary Desserts, which makes this experience even more disappointing. Sadly, every time we come back, the service seems to get worse. The waiter's attitude and level of attention were unacceptable, and the overall customer service was simply not there. For a place that is supposed to be about enjoying beautiful desserts and having a nice experience, the quality of the service completely ruined our visit. Service, attention, and hospitality were all a zero.

Alex helped me choose my gelato flavors, and she was so patient, friendly, and kind. There were so many different gelato and sorbet flavors to choose from that it was honestly hard to pick! The moment I tasted them, I felt like I was back in Italy. The flavors were rich, layered, and complex--you could actually taste the different ingredients, rather than just tasting sugar like you sometimes do at other places. He intentionally did it because the can was far and he had to reach over the gelato display for it. I called him out and he got a clean spoon. That took us back and we made sure to watch his every move. Absolutely disgusting. Other issues were the gelato wasn't smooth and creamy, as if it was old and had freezer burn. I had a scoop of the Stracciatella and Tiramisu (2 scoops on cone, $7.53 after tax). You also had to pay for the gelato before getting a sample or what you want, which is different from the norm and confusing. The workers repeated this to several people. Overall, would not return and don't recommend.

It was a warm day but we got there at 5:15pm and the sun was starting to go behind the downtown buildings. Negative: service. It seems if you are a regular, like the two tables near us, they chat it up and talk about how things are. If you aren't a regular, they just quickly come by and say "anything else?" the two times they came by. Im a huge water drinker so the carafe they brought only refilled our cups once. Never got another one until we were done and they came by asking about dessert. They weren't busy by any stretch on a Tuesday evening but apparently the frequent customers either tip really well or they prefer familiar faces. I assume the latter. So, I mean the food itself was great but service was not good. I mean we went when it was slow too and the host was talking it up with a frequent customer also asking about the changes recently to parking in their area nearby.... So, it puts this review as a 3/5.

So we decided on Nonna's for their variety of pastas and pizza. The evening was packed with people up and down the streets. However, when we arrived at Nonna's we only had to wait no more than a couple of minutes before being seated. We thought most italian places would provide some sort of complimentary bread, but this place did not. We ended up ordering the Carbonara, Fusilli Alla Vodka, Pappardelle, and Salsiccia pizza. Each were fantastic, but the family really enjoyed the Fusilli and the Pappardelle the most! The short rib meat was extremely tender and flavorful. Portions were a little smaller than expected, but it was enough to feed each of us with a couple slices of pizza to spare. Ambiance was nice and the staff was great. A drink we ordered was forgotten, but it's understandable since it was quite busy. Overall, great experience and glad we ended up at Nonna's even though it wasn't part of the batch of recommendations provided online.
