It's was $9 for a cup of milk. They put some sort of cream topping but it's not necessary with how milk heavy this drink is. I read somewhere that it's 4 shot but I don't think that's true. An interesting and fairly new coffee shop and hangout in Kearny Mesa near the intersection of Convoy and Clairemont Mesa. It's right next to O Zone Billiards. The interior is really spacious and minimalistic, with a grand piano in the center of the room, plenty of seating, and lots of electrical outlets to boot. Strangely enough, I had a kind of reverse experience here. Usually, I find that coffee shops tend to mask the lower quality (or burntness) of their beans through their fancier espresso drinks. At The Keep, the straight Supernova espresso shot was absolutely delicious and super high-quality. On the other hand, the latte was overly milky, to the point that I couldn't taste the Ethiopian espresso at all. I think they need to balance the milk and additives in their drinks to help make their very tasty beans shine. I'll have to come back sometime soon to try another drink and a pastry so I have a more well-rounded understanding of The Keep's offerings. It sure seems like people love it--the place was packed and my latte took about 15 minutes to make. Update: My second visit to The Keep bumped the cafe from 4/5 to 5/5. This go around, I ordered the Ethiopian espresso I first tried in the latte my first visit. It was delicious! The roasts they're using are incredible. I like the Supernova a bit more due to the citrus notes, but this one was solid as well. I also had a cortado with Brazilian beans. It was really good too. Finally, I tried a pastry, opting for the chocolate croissant. They heated it up for me and it was super flavorful and flaky. I have a feeling this place got stars knocked off from being so hyped up and busy during its opening months, which likely led to a pace of business that was extremely difficult to serve consistently. I'd heard that this new coffee shop had opened and popped in when I got a chance. Be forewarned that at the time of my visit there were only 2 parking spots that The Keep Customers can use. And the adjacent lot posted a sign to The Keep Customers that they would be towed if they parked there. So I ended up parking on the street. After ordering we were handed a beeper to pick up our coffees. I do question tipping percentage in this scenario when they don't have to come to the table to take or deliver an order. I originally went to Keep Coffee hoping to get a Matcha drink, but I must have misunderstood the menu, because I ended up ordering an Iced Mocha topped with Strawberry Cold Foam. It's located in a little strip mall with several reserved spots for other businesses but not for Keep Coffee. I ended up parking on the street, which wasn't ideal. The ambiance is fairly basic. It's clean and simple, but I do personally enjoy a café with more decorative charm or cozy touches. They did have good music playing in the background, which helped create a pleasant and relaxed vibe while I enjoyed my coffee and bagel. Awesome coffee shop in convoy area. I popped in here on a Tuesday around 11:30 and it was pretty busy inside with only a few seats open. Seems to be a pretty popular place to chill and work from. I found the menu to be a bit confusing with the names of the drinks and many having very similar ingredients so I had to ask a few questions. I chilled here for a few hours and ended up trying two different drinks. The first one I don't remember the name of it but it was an espresso with pistachio and a black sesame foam. The drink is on the smaller side but was so tasty. Every flavor stood out and yet was balanced at the same time. Really nice espresso. The second drink was keep matcha. I still don't fully understand how this was different than other matcha drinks but it was definitely on the creamer side and had whipped cream on top. Fairly sweet for matcha but not overly slow. Matcha was a deep green color and flavorful but a bit lost in all the cream. They have multiple different single origin coffees and have them in different grinders which is also a nice touch.
