The Drafthouse has always been one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants. However, my visit after work yesterday was disappointing. I felt rushed throughout my meal. The server repeatedly asked how I was doing, but the interactions didn't come across as warm or caring. Instead, they felt rushed, matter-of-fact, and as though she was trying to wrap up my visit. She took my plate while I was still eating and offered me the check before I had asked for it. I left with the impression that the table was needed for something else, and I didn't feel welcome to relax and enjoy my meal. I hope this was just an isolated experience because it was not the level of service I've come to expect. 3 stars because I really love couple of items on the menu. read more

This visit ended up being way more fun than we expected. A friend is staying with me for Comic-Con this week, so we came here to grab a couple beers and catch up. As if that wasn't enough, we walked in and realized it was trivia night, which immediately made the evening even better. While looking through the menu, I spotted a salmon bowl. I'm still pretty new to seafood and have recently discovered that I'm actually a big fan of raw salmon, so I figured this was the perfect opportunity to branch out. Well... surprise! For some reason I had convinced myself it was going to be a poke-style bowl with raw salmon, avocado, cucumbers, and all the usual toppings. Instead, it came out with cooked salmon. Even though it wasn't what I expected, the bowl was actually delicious. The funny part is I learned something about myself... I definitely prefer raw salmon over cooked salmon. Not a bad discovery to make over a good meal! The atmosphere was lively without being overwhelming, trivia kept the energy up all night, and the service was friendly from start to finish. How have I not left a review here in so long when I love this spot and try to frequent it when I can or if I am in the area. We use to live pretty close by here so it was our go to spot for a drink when we wanted to watch a game on TV and I came back recently and forgot how much I enjoy this spot. I will say for being so close to Balboa Park the parking here isn't too bad I have always been able to find a spot! Most are metered but there are some that are not. They have a great happy hour here but even if you don't make it for happy hour the pricing it pretty good and I love the variety of food options and the food is actually really good for it being a sports bar vibe. I love grabbing a seat at the bar because the staff here are so friendly. They have fun events during the week like bingo and trivia so I would definitely check those out! read more

I came here to watch the World Cup, and the place was absolutely packed! Despite the crowd, the staff did an impressive job. From what I could tell, there was only the bartender, one server, and possibly the manager working the floor. There may have been another employee, but regardless, they handled the rush incredibly well. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and kept things moving despite being clearly understaffed. The place itself is super cute and has a really fun atmosphere. There are TVs everywhere, making it a great spot to catch a game, and they have a nice craft beer selection. What I ordered: * Chimichurri Sliders ($16) - One of their specials. You get two sliders with no fries, so I'm not sure how much of a "special" it really is. They were decent, but nothing memorable or worth going out of your way for. Overall, I'd definitely come back to grab a beer and watch a game because the vibe is great. Food-wise, though, I found it pretty mediocre for the price. Burgers are around $25 with fries, and the appetizers (or "bites") range from $18-$25.. I was still hungry after the sliders and wanted to order a side of fries, but they don't list sides or prices on the menu, so you have no idea what anything costs. I ended up passing because they only offer steak fries, which just aren't my favorite. One big bonus is that they're dog-friendly, which I always appreciate. Came here Saturday afternoon for a quick bite. Place wasn't too crowded and they are big on the beer with 70 beers on tap. Had a ribeye hogie and chicken wings. Timing was good and bar service was decent. San which was a perfect size portion and fries were solid. Chicken wings we a little off, seasoning was good but a big difference in some of the sizes leading to a couple burnt wings. Divey feel to this spot with a bunch of mugs having over the bar area, but has a nice open feel. Overall not a horrible spot, and it's worth trying. read more

If you are looking for a spot in San Diego with amazing service, Corner Drafthouse is the place to be! My recent visit was absolutely fantastic, largely thanks to the incredible staff. Weston was our bartender, and he completely knocked it out of the park. Alongside him, the other bartender and server, Sherwin, was equally excellent. You do not always see that level of seamless teamwork, but they had it down perfectly. What really stood out was their genuine customer service and attention to detail. Weston and Sherwin were both incredibly accommodating, making sure our drinks were always full, offering great recommendations, and checking in to ensure everything was exactly to our liking. Drinks, appetizer, dinner. Overall a really nice time. Wes, our server and bartender was amazing. Great ideas on drinks and tips on food. The place was moderately full and they seemed slightly understaffed but we were well taken care of. Drinks were very good and the Brussels sprouts app was tasty. Asian flavor inspired and use the lime- it makes the difference. The burgers - we both got the Fig Burger were excellent -but we had a snafu.. my dining partner does not like really pink meat so I orderedmed rare and he ordered the near medium. When Wes took the order I told him that near medium still meant juicy. He said he got it. The near medium burger came out dry. When Wes came over to check on us I let him know that. I had traded burgers with my friend and I was ok with the dry burger. Sometimes things happen. Well... Wes asked, almost pleaded to let them give us another one to make it right. We agreed. A bit later the new burger came out and it was perfection. Wes thanked us for letting them make it right versus taking the original burger and not being happy. We managed to get a table at the back. This place has a huge long bar and a couple of tables for families/party to enjoy their dinner. They had the inside decorated with Christmas decor. Place is so cozy and quaint. We were immediately greeted by our server. We ordered nachos and oh my goodness the thing is never ending and huge. 5 people can share this! Hubby loved the beer here. It's been a while but I remember going on a little happy hour kinda sorta date with a former coworker who ended up being a total weirdo. We sat outside and shared Brussels + Buffalo Cauliflower. I believe he had the fig burger while I sipped on a couple vodka sodas prior to heading over to Balboa Park for their haunted trails. I really enjoyed everything about this kinda sorta date except for the person I was on that kinda sorta date with. The Corner is definitely a locals spot with a menu that's approachable but still fun. I mean come on, a fig burger? Buffalo Cauliflower? YUM. I used to work nearby and would see this place packed in the evenings. It's just one of those places that could creep up and make your belt loosen a few notches because great service and comfort food mixed with good ol' buzzy booze and your furry companions on the patio can seriously do that to you. read more

3-4 Stars. I came around 2:55 pm when it was on and off sprinkling. We sat on their side patio since we had a group of 8. They luckily had thick sun sails to protect us from the rain above. They also turned on 1 heater, they had another one but it only lasted for a short period of time. The workers were really nice and patient when it came to us looking at the menu to order. Just something to note, there's a surcharge and for parties of 8 or more, they have an automatic 20% gratuity (even if you ask for the checks to be split). I ordered the $21 Corner Drafthouse Burger with a side of fries (regular). I requested no onions and they also ask you how you like your burger to be cooked. I'm not particularly sure, so I just said "well." The burger comes with tomato, leafy lettuce, cheese, and a secret sauce. The sauce didn't have lots of flavor if you were to compare it to 1000 island vibe. The bun was toasted, but quite fluffy as well. It also came with a very very juicy slice of pickle. The fries were beautifully done with a nice and light crisp and a fluffy interior. It was a good lunch, but I'm not sure it's worth $27.72! Notes: To drink, most of us just had iced water. In my opinion, the water didn't taste very good. The waitresses didn't think to give us napkins except for the 4x4 napkin under the French fry holder. We had to go back in to ask (we are on the patio). She did ask if we needed anything else, and at the time-- I personally didn't need anything. But half way through, I wish she came back out to ask-- I would have liked more ketchup...Maybe next time, they can fill up the little metal cup more. On the other hand, some people would say it's nice that she left us alone so that we could all converse. My friend had the $21 Cubano with Sweet Potato Fries. It contained mojo pork, ham, swiss cheese, pickles, mustard, garlic aioli on a pressed hoagie roll. He said it was delicious, and saved half to take home for dinner. The waitress said it was a popular menu item! My other friend, ordered the ~$23 Mushroom Bacon Swiss Burger but subbed the actual meat patty with the Impossible Patty. She said it was a little freaky with how much it looked like a real patty when cooked. I also had to do a double take! Overall, it was a nice spot near Balboa Park (easy straight line walk from the bridge) to come with friends. For me personally, the price is already on the higher side and having the surcharge + the gratuity was a bit of an overkill esp since the gratuity was 20%. If I'm alone, I probably wouldn't come again. But I did hear that the pretzel bites are a crowd pleaser-- which is great for people that drink beer as well (because they pair well together). Absolute perfection. A very cozy place with a very welcoming staff, I came here for dinner recently. Indulged in one of their varied offerings of local craft beer. The Harland Brewing Co. Japanese lager was wonderful. The real surprise was the quality and variety of food offered here. While most drafthouses or breweries generally only serve pub food, The Corner Drafthouse goes beyond that. I opted for the Chinese Chicken Salad, and let me tell you, it was marvelous. Great mixture of greens and add-ins within the salad, but perfectly cooked, warm chicken strips on top really made this dish special. I initially looked at it and thought I'd never be able to eat it all, but sure enough, I took it all in and enjoyed every minute of it. A definite place to stop that has an ample amount of indoor and outdoor seating. The pretzel bites are a must-buy every time. We got the Fig Burger and Cubano today to share and both were delicious. That burger is incredible. With friendly staff and a good beer selection, this is a great spot for foodies and beer lovers alike. My friends and I decide to go here for our annual holiday drink meet up. We used to go somewhere else, but this year wanted a place that took reservations. The decor here was cute (look at my picture for the sign with lights), so it passed our vibe check. I managed to find metered street parking. The sign said 2 hours from 8-6, so I only had to pay for about an hour since I got there at 5. We loved how the holiday drinks came in cute cups (check my pic of the peppermint czar). We asked our server what he recommends, so one of my friends ordered the ahi poke bowl and I proceeded to have order envy. My other friend ordered the pork bulgogi bowl and I got the fig burger hut asked for onion rings instead of fries. We all needed to go boxes because we got full after making it through about halfway through our orders. It was the adult fig burger (she had the fig jam on the side), but she really enjoyed it and there was some left to share. The fries were also cooked and seasoned well. The chicken tenders for my other daughter were larger and plenty of food for her. They were also fried just right and were juicy as well. We sat at a regular table this time and the service was a little slower and we had to flag down our server a couple times for drinks. The food was decent. The only thing I can recommend is check your tab before you pay. We asked the server kindly to print out our receipt since it seemed a little more than what we had ordered.
