This restaurant was wild in the most wonderful way. The architecture and decor were over the top and fabulous. The food was to die for. The soufflé pancakes were delicious and the Turkish eggs were amazing. I've been trying to recreate both at home but with no success The staff was extremely friendly throughout the restaurant. I've been before and had a great experience so I decided to take a friend who was visiting San Diego for the day. The wait was an hour which was expected. I told my friend the food was worth the wait. After an hour we got sat at the bar and our first server was friendly. There was a transition of servers (not sure if he left for the day or went on lunch) and the new server would check on everyone at the bar except us. My water remained empty for most of the meal. The bartenders in front of us were clearly having a conversation and I didn't want to interrupt. My friend claimed her Irish coffee was sour? And didn't realize cheese came on a side of eggs (she should've checked when she ordered but the server never clarified either). We weren't checked on during the meal until the bill came and by then we just wanted to leave. I ordered the fluffy pancakes and found an egg shell inside. The cracking of eggshells in my mouth made me loose my appetite. We paid (still tipped of course) and left. It was great the first time and mediocre the second time. Came here on a Saturday late morning and quoted 1 hour and 15 min wait after waiting 15 in the line to put my name down with the hostess. You have 10 min to return after you receive the check-in text. There is a farmers market on the block and nearby so we decided to nibble and come back for the soufflé pancake instead of a full brunch since we were already hungry. There is a disclaimer that each batch of pancakes could take a little while to come out. Soufflé $17 for 2 pancakes, whipped cream and butter. These were the densest soufflé pancakes that you will ever come across. They are so heavy and eggy and reminded me of the egg cake that my mom would steam. I can also taste what I think is baking powder. Completely awful. The soufflé at other tables also looked super dense. Saying that the Glory Morning is hip and trendy would be a literal understatement to this establishment. It's as if you are stepping into Alice in Wonderland for Breakfast but end up getting a dose of amazing food and trippyness. It's located on the 2nd floor, just look for the long line along the staircase. Even on a Monday around 9 am there was a long line but the line moved fairly quickly. We didn't know but you can make reservations ahead of time. If you didn't, it's ok. We didn't have to wait too long. We were seated right away once we got to the front of the line. However some of the couples ahead of us had to wait about 30 minutes. I think it's because there are more larger tables vs smaller ones. The restaurant is pretty spacious with seating inside and outside. Very bright and fun decorations with lively music just added to the whole experience. We ordered the French omelette with goat cheese cream, the soufflé pancake and the chicken and waffles. For drinks we had the mocha latte, vanilla latte and iced americano. Everything was delicious! One of the best soufflé pancakes we have had. Usually soufflé pancakes can taste very egg forward but this one didn't. Super light, fluffy, and honestly just melt in your mouth. Definitely worth the hype. I also tried the crispy hashbrowns. I'll say this... they're interesting. Not your traditional hashbrowns at all. They come in these little deep-fried square blocks and are very rich and decadent in flavor. Different, but still good. We also had a side of sausage , which was solid, and the hubby ordered the French omelette. He said it was just okay, nothing that stood out. The vibe in here is fun and upbeat. The music is loud, the energy is high, and the staff all seemed genuinely happy, which always makes a difference. Such a unique dining experience! The vibes are immaculate and there's no reservations for a reason. We got there at 7:55 AM, and there was already a line. I was helping my friend with their SD bucket lists before moving and this place was on the top. The restaurant is on the second floor, which gives you a pretty view of main street Little Italy. The entire place is well decorated with pretty colors and exotic displays (the big flower?). Honestly, just looking at all the little details kept me entertained, they even had a champagne vending machine! We got: Souffle Pancake w/o add ons - a good souffle pancake should be fluffy, but this was on the thicker side and felt like I was just eating a taller thick pancake. The syrup (heated!) and butter complemented the pancakes well. In general, this dish is perfect for those who can eat a lot of sweets (but not for me lol). Halfway through I wanted to switch for a savory dish as the two pancakes were very heavy. 3.5/5 Fried Chicken w/ Waffles - All I can say is that the hot syrup carried this dish. The chicken was well seasoned, but still kind of dry. The waffles were crispy and helped balance out the savoryness. 3/5 Turkish Eggs - My favorite dish of the three. Maybe I was just in flavor fatigue from all the sweetness, but this was such a good light savory dish that I felt good about eating. I would even go as far as trying to recreate this dish at home. What I really enjoyed was that I was able to taste all the ingredients within like the mint and garlic that paired really well with the yogurt. They texted me when the table was available, great communication. The vibe is very funky and fun, and they play great music. They open at 8am on Saturdays and we were 4th in line at 7:30am. There's always a long line so glad we decided to come before they even opened. We were seated right away and our waiter Lucky made sure we had a good dining experience. No rush on ordering and he made recommendations on what to order. The matcha latte and chai latte were both delicious. The chai latte was served in a pretty glass goblet while the matcha was served in a traditional coffee cup. We prefer the traditional cup. The chilaquiles was delicious with crunchy tortillas piled high with salsa Verde, crema and topped with scrambled eggs. I opted not to add chorizo or birria this time. I had plenty of leftovers. A trip to Morning Glory is not complete without their fluffy souffle pancakes. Delicious! We added the fruit compote too. It's served with whipped cream, berries, and warm maple syrup. The hash brown side pieces was dry and pretty plain so skip that. Parking is an issue in Little Italy since most street parking is only for 2 hours. The paid parking lots can get pretty pricey.
