Went in for breakfast around opening time, around 10:30 AM, and unfortunately left very disappointed. We were told they were already booked with reservations, even though we could see quite a few empty tables/seats inside. What made the situation even more frustrating was that a couple who arrived immediately before us was accepted as a walk-in. However, shortly after, the male host turned us away and told us they don't accept walk-ins and that reservations are prioritized. We completely understand prioritizing reservations, but the inconsistency was disappointing, especially when we had just watched another walk-in party get seated. If walk-ins aren't accepted, it would be helpful to have that policy clearly communicated upfront so guests know what to expect. Also, if you're visiting with a baby or stroller, be aware that the restaurant is not particularly stroller-friendly. We had to carry our stroller up the stairs, which was difficult and inconvenient, especially with a baby. Overall, the experience left us disappointed before we even had the opportunity to try the food. We were really looking forward to having breakfast here, but the way the situation was handled made us feel unwelcome. We came to Coco Maya for brunch to celebrate my friend's birthday, and honestly, the vibes were SO cute! The whole place gives very Miami vibes colorful, fun, and just a really beautiful environment. The bathroom was even super cute! The food was absolutely amazing. Everything we ordered was really good, and the drinks were also delicious. I thought the prices were pretty reasonable for the quality and overall experience, and I definitely do think this place is worth the hype and worth the money. The only thing that really brought the experience down for me was the customer service. Our waiter was nice, but I feel like we only saw him once or twice after getting our drinks and waters. One of my friends ordered guava juice, and it took probably 30-40 minutes to come out. She really wanted it when she ordered it, so it was a little frustrating that no one checked on us during that time to see if everything was okay or if we needed anything. When we were finally asked how everything was and how the food was tasting, we did mention it. I just feel like the service could have been a little more attentive and personable overall. Sometimes it's the little things that make a huge difference -- asking how our day was going, acknowledging that it was someone's birthday, asking what we had planned for the day, etc. Those little interactions can really make you feel welcomed rather than just being another table. That being said, they did bring out churros with different dipping sauces for my friend's birthday, which was such a sweet touch! And the churros were SO good. One thing to know before going is that it can be a little tricky to find. It's next to Salt & Straw and you have to go upstairs, so definitely keep an eye out for it. Overall, I really enjoyed Coco Maya. The food, drinks, aesthetic, and atmosphere were all amazing, and I definitely think it's worth checking out. Being on a brioche made it on the sweeter side, which at first was a surprise but overall it was delicious. And would have wished for a bit more of the lobster, but it was still yummy, so a solid 8/10. Also shared the truffle fries and the french toast, which was the right amount of sweetness, 8/10 to both. My friend's boyfriend had the Coco Maya breakfast. I didn't taste it, but it looked good. The only thing was that they messed up on his eggs by bringing him sunny side up, when he ordered scrambled. Our server still corrected the mishap right away. Good vibes and ambiance overall. The service was pretty quick for our large party. We've been to Miss B's Coconut Club before, and you can definitely tell they're sister restaurants. If you like one, you'll probably love the other. The Caesar salad chicken wrap was absolutely incredible and a decent sized portion. We started with the coconut shrimp which were delicious, however the sauce is better at Miss B's. Our friends shared the truffle fries which is a great snackie order for large parties and their ketchup is super fresh. Can I give this place 10 stars?! We were a group of six celebrating my bachelorette weekend in San Diego and were heading to brunch across the street from Cocomaya--but we were completely lost. Someone noticed and kindly asked where we were trying to go. He mentioned he was a cook at Coco Maya and suggested we check it out, and although we hesitated at first, we decided why not, even though it looked busy. When we walked over, we figured, why not give it a try? And honestly, we got so lucky--there was a table available for all six of us! But that was just the beginning. The service, the food, the drinks, everything was incredible. The views and ambiance were beautiful, the music was great, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations. Love this place! The bar upstairs has a really fun vibe, not to mention how you can see the sunset if you're there when the sun goes down. Lots of interesting people come here. All ages are welcome. If you can't do stairs, they also have an elevator you can use to go to the 2nd floor. Do handicap accessible. The bartenders are all very friendly even when it's a Saturday night and it's crazy busy. Drinks are good and food is also delicious. I had the poke which was actually really good. We also had the espresso martini. It's pretty loud with everyone having a great time so expect this when you come. They also have TVs in the bar area with sports events.
