Right in the middle of Little Italy, this place brings Miami tropical vibes to San Diego. The pink umbrellas, neon signs, and feathered chandeliers rightfully deems this place a perfect spot for brunch with the girls. It overlooks the little Italy promenade, so it's a perfect place to people watch especially during weekends. Came here with my friend and her boyfriend visiting from out of town and we had a great time. It can be a bit hot since it's an indoor outdoor venue. My friend and I shared the lobster Benedict. Being on a brioche made it on the sweeter side, which at first was a surprise but overall it was delicious. And would have wished for a bit more of the lobster, but it was still yummy, so a solid 8/10. Also shared the truffle fries and the french toast, which was the right amount of sweetness, 8/10 to both. My friend's boyfriend had the Coco Maya breakfast. I didn't taste it, but it looked good. The only thing was that they messed up on his eggs by bringing him sunny side up, when he ordered scrambled. Our server still corrected the mishap right away. Good vibes and ambiance overall. I'd love to come back to try out their dinner menu, as I heard the crispy shrimp was good.

The vibe is really nice. However on the day we came, service was very slow. We asked for water 3x, the libations we ordered were very slow to come out. There was no dedicated bartender. The same guy that made the drinks, brought out the food, filled the water, etc. We were there with a group of 5 celebrating our daughter's 22nd birthday. The food was good, as were the drinks, just really slow, an issue when you have a limited time on the parking meter.

Coco Maya is such a cute brunch spot in San Diego! The whole place has this pink, white, and green tropical vibe that kind of reminds me of the Beverly Hills Hotel. It's super pretty and definitely a spot where you'll want to take pictures. We got the Mango Guava Spritz and it was so good. Very refreshing and not overly sweet. For food, we tried the French Toast, eggs breakfast, truffle fries and the Lobster Benedict. Every dish was really good, although I do wish there was a little more lobster in the Benedict. Overall, I really enjoyed this place. The atmosphere is definitely the highlight. It's fun, lively, and really pretty I'd definitely recommend Coco Maya for a girls' brunch or a fun weekend brunch with friends.

This is such a cool bar! We came in for an evening nightcap and Coco Maya totally delivered! The rooftop patio was great! The service was spot on! We put our order in and had drinks fast. We enjoyed some amazing cocktails as we watched the sun set over the water. We love the vibe here, so relaxing and trendy at the same time. I can't wait to get back!!! Great venue, great cocktails, great service!!!

Really enjoyed this place! The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Everything we tried was delicious, and the lobster flatbread was definitely the highlight of the meal. The atmosphere is fantastic. The bar is beautiful, and the entire restaurant has a stylish, well-designed interior that makes it feel warm and inviting. It's a great place to enjoy dinner, especially in the evening. The service was attentive throughout our visit, and overall it was an excellent dining experience. I'd definitely come back and highly recommend it.

Fun spot for a weekend brunch. We had reservations but waited about 10 min for a table. We ordered the chicken and waffles and pork belly Benedict. The chicken and waffles was okay, the chicken was a bit thin but the pork belly Benedict was delicious. Highly recommend. The best beverages here are the frozen margaritas, so refreshing for a rooftop vibe! There's a dj who places form 12pm-3pm, it was house music. I'd recommend playing bossa nova that's a missed opportunity with the cute tropical decor but overall, fun ambiance and perfect for a big group, good food and service.

We came to Coco Maya for my girlfriend's birthday with a group of about 16 people and had such a great time. The vibe is fun and energetic with a Caribbean feel that's perfect for celebrating. The service was pretty quick for our large party. We've been to Miss B's Coconut Club before, and you can definitely tell they're sister restaurants. If you like one, you'll probably love the other. The Caesar salad chicken wrap was absolutely incredible and a decent sized portion. We started with the coconut shrimp which were delicious, however the sauce is better at Miss B's. Our friends shared the truffle fries which is a great snackie order for large parties and their ketchup is super fresh. The drinks were good overall, but I'd probably skip the coconut margarita next time. One tip is to plan for parking ahead of time or just Uber because parking downtown is a challenge. We'll definitely be back!

This time around was not a great experience. From the moment we walked up to check in our hostess was rude. She just stood there said nothing. No greeting I literally thought she was a customer. I recommended the restraunts since I actually like the food even if it did need some salt. Its just the service is so bad. Our waitress took forever to bring our drinks. We got there at 11:30 and we didnt leave till 1pm. The food didnt come till around 12:30. Not sure what was going on today, it was not even as packed as the last time I came.

Very cute brunch spot with plenty of picture opportunities. Lobster roll was filling along with fries . The coco vaya frozen drink was prefect for this weather . Service was a little slow but accounted for when the restaurant is full at all times .

Good food, good music, good vibe, good service. Lauren was our server and she was top notch. My boyfriend and I were visiting and decided to try this spot out and we were not disappointed! We got the coconut shrimp, ox tail tacos and wagyu meatballs, chef's kiss **

First time here. It's a cute trendy place, located on the 2nd floor right off the main strip of Little Italy. Parking can be difficult, street parking or park at a nearby structure. The space is not very big, but can accommodate small groups and there is an outdoor patio. Our server was friendly and attentive. She was quick and willing to make a change in our order. Our food came out in ample time. Everything was delicious! Good portions and flavorful. The poke was our favorite and the Pork Belly Benedict was different from your typical egg benedicts. I like the uniqueness of it: one toast with toppings on top. The potatoes were surprisingly yummy, too. Reservation is highly recommended.

This is my favorite place to hangout when I stay in Little Italy. Such a cute restaurant with a great rooftop. I've tried a bunch of the food and not had anything I didn't like. My fave is the tuna poke though. The drinks are great and the staff never have any issues accommodating an ingredient substitution for me when needed. Coming here during the week I have never waited for a table and the staff have all been pleasant and attentive.

Corina I.

Pork belly Benedict was AMAZING. First time here and it was the best choice I ever made. I almost ate the whole thing and I usually never finish my food. It was a very hot day make sure to bring a fan if your sitting out side of you get lucky the staff can provide you one. I came here for a birthday and definitely a great vibe for that. Drinks were great as well.

Ask the Community - Coco Maya

What time does food service stop?

10 pm tonight.

What is the average pricing?

The average drinks range from $12-$16. They do have more expensive drinks but Only 3-5 of them are expensive. We did not eat there so I don't know How much is the food cost.

Is there an elevator?

Yes

Are they celiac friendly?

Yes!

How's the parking?

It's Little Italy so it can be difficult, but there are a lot of self park lots but can be costly if you can't find street parking.

Is this place kid-friendly?

I would probably suggest taking your kids here either for breakfast , lunch/ early dinner. It gets crowed at night. Feels more like an adult hang out spot. There is no kid menu.

I don't see many vegan options on the menu - do you have a separate vegan menu, or vegan substitutions that are not listed on your website?

Unfortunately they don't; food selection is very limited at this time while they're still trying to find their groove. Otherwise vibe is great and the patio is the bomb.

What are their hours?

Our current hours are listed on our Yelp listing, but I've added them here for your convenience. Please check the actual listing for our most up-to-date hours in the future as they may change.…

Are there any vegetarian options?

Many of their menu items do not include meat and or dairy. Check out their menu on their website.

Are dogs allowed up there?

I would definitely recommend parking around Corner Bakery or near 24 Hour Fitness for the closest way in. This was my very first time going to Raised by Wolves. I made a reservation on OpenTable, and if you are reading this right now, I highly recommend booking one. When we got there, the wait was two hours for people without a reservation. I booked for 9 PM on a Saturday night with my friends after dinner. We actually arrived at UTC earlier than expected, so we let the host know and they let us in about 20 minutes early. As for parking, they do not validate here. Parking is free for the first hour and then two dollars per hour after that, so just be aware that you may end up paying for parking when you visit this bar. It is set up like a speakeasy, which is really cool. You get to see where the actual bar is hidden. We ended up ordering a bunch of cocktails and the drinks were super great. I really loved the vibe overall. It was lively and chatty, and the staff was super friendly. The ambiance is very dark and classy. Keep in mind they do not serve food here. It is purely drinks only. You can essentially sit wherever, but the bar is the best seat in the house IMO. The scenery was cool and had the prohibition era feel to it, however the music was current and WAY TOO loud. There is nothing more annoying to have to shout to the person sitting over the next barstool for a conversation. So there's that. We ordered the Island Old Fashioned, which sounded interesting, but...alittle disappointed. I wanted to order another cocktail, but we had dinner reservations. The bartender(s) barely spoke and if they did, we wouldn't have been able to hear them, you know, because of the loud music. Maybe we'll come again for other cocktails when we visit San Diego again. Until then, RBW is a "check off the list" kind of thing.

For what it is worth, the parking lot next door to False Idol and Craft & Commerce should be renamed Butch Cassidy, not because of the entertaining movie, but because it charges highway robbery rates. We paid $40 on a Friday night. That is...outrageous. The menu at False Idol is long and delightful and the drinks are delicious. As far as I can tell, none of the drinks are blended, so sorry for you Pina Colada fans, which includes me. They also offer three mocktails. We tried a Mac Nut Chi Chi (macadamia based) and a Chi Breeze mocktail (also macadamia based). They were both very nice. I appreciated the detail in the menu. If you want stronger and boozier drinks, they are available. If you want something lighter, they have that, too. Most of the drinks seemed reasonably priced. The lighting and music were excellent. When someone ordered a shareable "bowl" drink, loud volcano rumbling noises played and the lighting flickered. That was fun. As a tiki fan, I would return, but I would never, ever park in that evil thieving parking lot next door again.

Reservations can be made on OpenTable if you are fast enough. We weren't... on our last trip to San Diego. So when I found availability for 2, I made a special trip down to San Diego just for this speakeasy. After 2 and a half hours of driving, I reached San Diego. I miraculously found street parking on the same block as the bar and made my way inside Asa Bakery. My friend was already waiting for me at a table. He, a San Diego local, told me that he took the bus to avoid the parking situation entirely. Smart man. We were still quite early for our reservation, so I had a latte from Asa Bakery while we waited. During this time, we were trying to figure out where the speakeasy was located. Then we saw a couple enter Asa and press a handicap assistance button near the door to the bakery. A big section of the wall opened up and revealed a swanky looking bar behind it, complete with hosts wearing sleek black vests, button ups, and bow ties - a complete vibe change from the modern bakery we were sitting in. Once it was our seating time, we also made our way over to the secret entrance. Kamon itself felt like a rift in time, as if we were stepping straight into the 1920's. The room was heavily inspired by the Taisho Roman era, the period when Japan was influenced by European romanticism. Decor featured visual harmony between traditional Japanese motifs, such as screen doors and woodblock prints, and influences of the Western Roaring 20's, such as glamorous Art Deco chandeliers, red carpet, and lounge chairs. We were seated next to a beautiful zen garden. The concept of the menu is "omiyage" or souvenirs from different regions of Japan. My friend started with the Tokyo Banana, inspired by the iconic Tokyo Banana cream pastry found all over souvenir shops in Tokyo and Haneda Airport. The spirits in this cocktail were Suntory Toki and rum. I started with the Yame Matcha, inspired by the city of Yame in Fukuoka prefecture, which is reveled among matcha snobs for producing matcha with nutty flavor. The matcha was prepared as a cream top, a nod to matcha lattes, and sat on top of a spirit base of mezcal, Mizu green tea shochu. This drink was so fun and creative. I would've never thought about pairing matcha with mezcal, but surprisingly, it worked very well. The smokiness of the mezcal paired well with the creamy, nutty matcha top and roasted genmaicha flavor.  Because of the amazing theme of the menu, we couldn't resist ordering a second round. My friend got the Ao Ichigo, featuring strawberries from the Tochigi prefecture. The spirit for this was a reposado tequila and vodka. This is good if you want a light, refreshing, sweet drink. My second drink was the White Lover, inspired by Hokkaido and its dairy and pastry culture. The spirit for this drink was Sotol, which was also quite smoky. The body of this cocktail was composed of kefir and Calpico, with notes of yuzu and croissant as well. This drink also comes with a "surprise," and to maintain the integrity of said "surprise," I won't tell you what it is! This was probably my favorite drink of the night. As an alum of Asian American college party culture, I have had many drinks mixed with Calpico, so this was my favorite drink of the night because of how close to home it felt. You could almost call it an "omiyage" of USC ahaha... However, I was not the biggest fan of the food here. We both weren't that hungry, so we just got some appetizers, but honestly, I don't remember the food menu being that big anyways. We got the tuna tartare cannolis and the karaage. The tuna tartare was a bit weird for me. I kinda expected it to be fresh and light and silky, as a tartare should be, but I would describe this as more of a... tuna salad? Heavier than I expected... and creamy. And strange. I think it's the mayo. I just didn't like it very much. And the cannoli presentation was fun, but I don't think it's needed. I think just a classic tuna tartare would have been more enjoyable. And the karaage was fine. Not good, not bad. I wouldn't get food here again though. The drinks at Kamon, however, are phenomenal. I love the theme of 1920's Taisho Japan. The ambiance is impeccable. The theme is even integrated into the menu's concept. There's a story behind each of the signature drinks, giving you a glimpse into what makes each featured region of Japan unique. I definitely want to return to Kamon one day.

The space is inspired by 1920s Taisho-era Japan, so the whole concept carries into the decor, Japanese ingredients and cocktails. Their menu gets pretty creative with Japanese whisky, shochu, sake, highballs, clarified cocktails and small bites. After bakery hours, finding the entrance wasn't difficult. Just enter through Asa Bakery and you'll see where to go. Reservations are recommended, especially on weekends. We were able to grab one the night before for a Friday without any trouble. We had already eaten dinner, so we came for drinks with a small appetizer to share. We ordered the Karaage, Tokyo Banana and Yame Matcha. Service was incredible throughout the night. It took a little bit to get seated since nobody was standing at the host area when we walked in. Someone eventually spotted us through the curtain then quickly came over to help. From there, everyone was attentive. The Karaage came out first. I wish the outside was just a little crispier, but it was still really good. The slaw was actually my favorite part because the acidity paired perfectly with fried chicken, especially while sipping on cocktails. The Yame Matcha was so decadent. It had this beautiful matcha cloud on top with a deeper roasted flavor underneath, almost smokey, that lingered after each sip. Definitely not your typical sweet matcha cocktail. The Tokyo Banana was my favorite. The presentation alone was gorgeous. You get that banana flavor right away, but it still tastes like a proper cocktail rather than a banana dessert. It was definitely strong, so this was one I slowly sipped throughout the night. The hojicha mixed with the banana worked SO well.

Always a 5 Star experience when gathering for drinks here…read more Over the years, the names have changed for the provider of Polite Provision's delicious orderable food to go along with their polite provisions. Items such as scrupulously prepared meatballs, fried polenta, spaghetti with mushroom sauce, etc., from the prior next-door, connected purveyor "Soda and Swine"...but those days are done ...I digress. And where is Soda and Swine's Yelp page? I know I did a review, but now the page appears gone completely in search? Nah, it's just hidden, presumably to accommodate Fortunate Sons, which opened about a year ago after re-construction of both establishments. I'm too lazy to see if still owned by Consortium Group. I did search my reviews and found my updated Soda & Swine review dated 8 & 10 years ago. O_o !! Now, food is still served, however, there's a new name in town called "Fortunate Son" (next door, connected). Apparently, food now served is Asian-inspired. I've not visited recently to taste. The North Park area is a great neighborhood with many different types of food close by. While you're there, don't forget to stop by "An's Dry Cleaners", where the most inventive gelato's, ice creams and sorbets come from.

You can order from the bar or your table. Lots of different seating options indoors and outdoors…read more Very extensive drink menu almost too many options. The drinks we ordered were good and service didn't take too long. Right next to Fortunate Son so you can order food from them and enjoy in their bar.

It has been a while that I wanted to check out this place. You have to make reservations and they…read moreare open two weeks before the day you would like to go. The Speaksey is located inside Common Theory restaurant. Parking is a little tight in the shopping strip due to the amount of businesses in the same area. You can also do street parking, but do plan because on a Friday night it does get challenging. The hostess were super nice at the Front and showed us the way inside this hideout place. We were a party of 2, so we were seated at the bar. It was perfect because we had a lot of attention from the bartender. Each cocktail is handcrafted delicately. Beautifully presented and the flavor was exquisite for each one of them. We had the Lalisa, Softly Spoken and Purple Petunias. For the food we ordered the Scallop Ceviche, spicy but so delicious. Pork Loin dish which was tenderly soft and an explosion of flavors with the sauce, salad, rice and egg. For a different twist we also ordered the Korean Fries Quail..... what an amazing dish. One of my favorites now. Ambiance is Japanese style decor like being totaly immersed in that culture. Perfect lighting and background music at perfect volume to be able to enjoy a good conversation. The only thing that you have to be aware is that the time limit, doesn't matter the size of the group, 2 hours maximun at the place to enjoy.

Housewives and mommies, I'm not calling out to you directly, but you know why soap operas and…read moreromance novels were so popular? Because they transport you away from your humdrum lives and gave ladies the dream of wild lives, adventure, and adult conversations that transcend daily menial tasks. You deserve to come here and escape for a night, to be treated well, eat some tasty food and sip beverages that toddlers can't stick their little fingers in. You are a grown ass woman, and you deserve a reprieve in a nice, 21+ atmosphere while wearing a fancy dress, your finest sandals, and for goodness sake, when was the last time you did your hair? This location would be wonderful for anyone, but as someone who rarely gets out and about I really enjoy myself here. This was only my second visit, but already look forward to the next time.
