Fun, funky and delicious!! Interesting takes on breakfast food. Reviews said the pork belly eggs Benedict was yummy ..yes!!! Servers are kind and attentive and really add to helping you feel at home. Easy walk from any hotel in the Gaslamp district

If you're looking to go to brunch but don't want to succumb to a overly fried or sugary brunch option, the steak scramble at Werewolf is a solid choice! Tortilla is folded up on the side in case you want to skip the extra carbs. Sauce on the scramble is really tasty. Potatoes are perfect. Little bits of corn are a nice surprise! I also tried La Mariposa and it is perfectly floral and light. 100/10. Jasmine was a super friendly waitress and so attentive. Ambiance is a lively and fun--the perfect spot to start an afternoon pregame or have brunch in the morning.

Chose this spot for breakfast because I assumed it was a cool, interesting restaurant due to it's name. I was completely surprised to realize that it was more a sports bar than anything. There's a decent amount of seating and the walls are plastered with random prints and posters. There's at least six TVs. The spacing of the seating is kind of weird and the bar takes up about half the restaurant. It was half full when I got there with two bartenders and one server. I sat at the bar assuming I would get quicker service, which was not true. I ordered a coffee and a blue plate, which was basically cheesy chive scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, and a biscuit. The original plate comes with bacon but I subbed it for avocado. The food came out warm (not hot), but I was hungry so I didn't say anything. The eggs, although delicious, were not made with chives, but rather with green onion. The biscuit was dry and came with a pat of butter and some packaged jam. The breakfast potatoes were crispy and well seasoned, however, most of them were burnt or just the scraps at the bottom of the fry basket. Disappointing. The one good thing about this place (other than the friendly staff), is that it might be the cheapest breakfast you can get in Gaslamp. I would say this place is more of a hangover restaurant/bar for people to come to after a Padres game.

Inedible frisbee pancake. There are two. I barely had a few bites with the top one.

I do not see the wins here. A. Service is horrible. Our server had no clue on certain items on the menu. She forgot an item extra fee for house salsa (tiny cup) no less which she got later. She gave us a cranberry spritizer when a person asked for cranberry juice. I had the short stack with eggs, and chives. Ditched the cheesy part. For San Diego and California they didn't offer egg whites. That makes no sense. Almond milk? Nope Oat. She offered to heat it. Nice that would be cool. Showed up coled. The short stack,, well the pancakes were solid as in a frisbee and downright awful. Inedible would have made more sense Pricing could have been better. The place is tiny And the vibe wasn't cool or hip. Just blah, like the food itself

Came here for brunch after a morning at the swap meet! It was a hot day and I really appreciated how cool it was in here despite the front all being open. Much needed cool down for me. This place was packed and the reviews were really good so I came in with high expectations. All staff I interacted with was super nice and friendly! We got biscuits and gravy (no egg), country fried steak, and breakfast balls. The breakfast balls were amazing, little fried balls of mashed potato seasoned so well with bacon and gravy. It was sooooo good. I may end up just getting that for breakfast next time. The biscuits and gravy were just like my mom makes. Good country gravy with a nice soft but crispy biscuit. The potatos were not that good imo, they needed a longer cook but they tasted decent. The country fried steak was cooked and seasoned amazingly, and were the eggs. I will be back!!

Great cocktail selection and nice bartenders! Jasmine and Taylor were outstanding--friendly, attentive, and on top of every request. The drink quality was excellent across the board. If you're walking by, definitely stop in and grab a cocktail--you won't be disappointed. Good music, cool vibes, and great drinks.

Finally after months and months of eyeing this place, I brought some friends over and we had an incredible dinner. It's a cozy bar with decent seating indoors and at the bar itself. The staff is amazingly friendly and welcoming, open to sharing recommendations. Shoutout to Taylor for making our night special! I ordered the Chicken Red Hot Sandwich sand bacon and I ate the whole plate. Left no fry or piece behind. The whole night we kept talking about how we were all ready to come back and try more items, as well as their brunch, and their karaoke nights. This place is definitely worth all the hype and that gut feel I got when I first saw it months ago. Great quality, flavor, and atmosphere. Even when it got crowded, it didn't feel overwhelming or obnoxiously loud. Looking forward to our next night out here.

Came on a Sunday morning for brunch and surprisingly it wasn't crowded at all. First we sat at the bar but noticed a table in the back that opened up and the waitress was kind enough to let us switch tables. Service was super nice and great vibes. Restaurant looks a lil small and almost like a dive bar in a way. Tried their espresso martini and it was super good. I usually don't drink because I hate the taste of alcohol but this drink hid the taste very well and it was nice and sweet. We tried the breakfast ball hush puppies as appetizers and wow it's filling! I love their flavor in the country gravy!! Soo good. My bf ordered their country fried steak and eggs and loved it. I ordered their steak and egg breakfast bowl thing that was kinda like a deconstructed burrito lol my dish was more on the dry side sadly so I kinda just ate from my bf's plate more haha

Werewolf has great food and a great atmosphere! We walked over to grab some lunch, and it was pretty quiet. Not sure if it's normally like that on the weekend during lunch or if it's because the streets were closed for the annual pet parade that was happening. We entered the restaurant to some awesome music by an awesome DJ! There's a bar that takes up half the restaurant and eclectic decor all over. We ended up ordered off the brunch menu as there was so much good stuff on there! We ordered: Country fried steak Chicken Hash California Burrito Oreo Cookie Cakes The prices here were fair and the food was good! We all liked what we ordered! I especially liked the Oreo Cookie Cakes (pancakes), it even came garnished with a deep fried Oreo! Our server was really fun and told us when the pet parade was going by so we could go outside and watch it. She also handed us permanent markers before we left so we could write on the walls. She even invited us back for karaoke happening later in the evening. (We didn't make it) If you're ever in the Gaslamp Quarter, Werewolf is worth a visit!!

Great place for a brunch any day of the week. The decorations and vibe of the place are done really well. Nothing too fancy or flashy. Just clean and still retro/funky. The service was great with all of the staff making sure everyone was taken care of, being super friendly, and very professional. The food was fantastic. I had the steak scramble and it was very well seasoned, a great portion, and the steak was cooked perfectly. This is a great place in the Gaslamp

This is such a cute breakfast spot! I loved the vintage/comic book theme of the restaurant and the servers were super sweet! We had the pork belly Benedict and country fried steak. The pork belly was a bit on the sweet side, so I would recommend getting the avocado with it. The country fried steak was soooo good and I loved the gravy. The brunch themed drinks were also awesome! Would definitely come back for more!

    Werewolf Reviews in Other Languages

    Ask the Community - Werewolf

Is it 18+ for karaoke hours?

You can't bring babies or toddlers.

Where is the easiest place to park?

Try to park as close as possible to the restaurant. Best parking will be with the closest paid parking lots and meter parking close to the restaurant.

    Do they have Take-Out?

Yes. I don't know which services deliver if using an app.

    Is this place kid friendly?

Yes, you can take a kid there, I would recommend breakfast or lunch though.

    Is kitchen open past 12am?

    Open from 8AM until 2AM

Do you broadcast the boxing fights on Saturdays?

Is there still karaoke? If so, which nights?

    Tuesday - Saturday from 9pm to 1am. https://thewerewolf.net/pages/karaoke

Are we able to make a reservation for two? I called and was directed to make reservations via yelp, but I only see a waitlist option.

Hi Kristen, we offer a waitlist, but we do not offer reservations.

Dogs ok? Just wondering if Werewolf is Fido-friendly.

I believe so! I have been here multiple times and seen dogs inside and if I am wrong, there is an outside eating space where pets are welcome.

    Outdoor eating- out door eating?

    Yes!

    Do they offer Bottomless mimosas?

    No you buy the bottle.

Hey! I don't see the waitlist on Yelp anymore, is there still a waitlist?

Absolutely. It's 90-120 mins right now on a Sunday around 11:30am. Yikes!

    Is karaoke back yet?

It is now! Went there a few times to sing this week!

Can you make a reservation for brunch?

They have a waitlist and take reservations over 10 ppl. Call and ask them. They were very helpful for our party of 8.

Can't find the happy hour menu?

I've only done brunch here but your best bet is to call and ask.

Did they get rid of the lottery tickets?

I didn't see or read anything on lottery tickets there.

    Is it celiac friendly?

I'm not saying this place is not celiac friendly, but I am saying, "damn! Your eating our choices/experience is greatly limited!!!" That's crazy man. Good luck. I have no idea if this place is your peoples friendly.

    Are there gluten free buns?

I'm sorry I don't know. I do plan on going there again though 🙂

    Is this establishment dog friendly?

Last time we visited, we sat at the bar (inside the restaurant) and there was a dog with the party seated next to us. So i assume yes!

    Does it have bottomless mimosas?

    I don't think so.

I actually didn't know that until two days ago when a Yelp-friend at home here in Richmond, Virginia, exclaimed excitedly when I told her we stopped in. The host who greeted us was kind, informed us there had been a line to get in that day, but that they had one barrel left; we jumped on it of course. It was happy hour, so the first cocktail I ordered was dirt cheap at $9. It was the Imperial Hawaiian with gin, rum, lemon, pineapple, and orgeat. I really shouldn't have ordered a second drink after that one, but I did have the classic Saturn later on in the night and it was absurdly good! Definitely my favorite of the two. The moody tiki vibe was so cool and fun. They even had frogs you could play on the tables. We had some fun neighbors too, which livened up the experience even more. At one point, there were rumbling sounds and subtle vibrations through the chairs, which made the whole experience feel interactive and different from your typical bar. The drinks were creative and fun (one of my friends even kept the drink garnish as a collectible), and the staff was friendly and welcoming throughout. It's definitely more about the ambiance and experience than anything else. I'd come back again--especially around the holidays to see how they switch up the decor. If you're looking for something a little different and don't mind a cozy, darker setting, it's worth checking out.

The waiter that came by mid-video to do the torch component of the butters we added on to our meats was great, I love that it's table side because it enhances the experience to the ambiance and you can squeeze a little video in. This is a nice establishment, especially for lounging with a date. Very clean and nice drinks too…read more A little pricey however that's the norm in this area for the more popular out of towner type spots. The servers are friendly. But you have to be patient as they are often quite busy. The record store and records theme is what they present online but to be honest that is only a minute section of the establishment. It definitely doesn't describe the theme of the place neither. The worker in the record section simply ignored me when I tried to purchase a record and after a minute I had to ask for him to please ring me up. No apology from him. No biggie, I still had a decent time drinking here.

The entrance is pretty cool but I'll let you experience it :). The interior is definitely a vibe and intimate. Its definitely for smaller groups. They actually recommend to stay in your seat unless you need to use the restroom, which I appreciated. The service was all around very good! I got the Saigon Dreamer and it was so good! It had such a good mouth feels with the clarified milk. Highly recommend if its still on the menu. For food, I got the charred gai lan and the KFQ. The gai lan had a nice smoking taste and very tender. KFQuail was succulent and was fried to perfection. The only downside would be it was pretty expensive what you get. Will definitely be back for the cocktails but may get food somewhere.

The vibe inside is dark, tropical and cozy. It's a decently large space and tables are spread out nicely. Because it was our anniversary they gave us complimentary sparkling wine to start which was a nice touch. I know they're known for cocktails but I ended up getting wine to drink as well. My partner got The Saigon Dreamer that was coffee based. He really liked it. For food I got the burger (bunless as they didn't have option for a lettuce wrap) and my partner got the quail. We split the gailan (Chinese broccoli). All the flavors on everything were great. Seasoned but not overly so and a good balance of savory and sweet. Portions are not huge and a bit pricey so docking a star for that. Service was great from start to finish and they were patient with all the questions I had before ordering.
