We had so much fun at brunch today! Our waitress (I think her name was Jessie?) was so friendly and upbeat. She asked for our names which was a nice touch. We had the biscuits & gravy, the pork belly Benedict and the Oreo cookie cakes. Everything was sooo delicious. My bf also likes the Bloody Marys. There was a DJ playing upbeat music, I was loving it! It was fun singing and dancing in my seat while eating. The overall vibe was really fun but not too over the top. I liked the casual decor throughout the restaurant. I've been here twice now, and both visits were before a Padres day game for brunch. Both times the food was absolutely phenomenal. My first visit I ordered the sausage and gravy, and the second time I went with the Cali burrito. They were completely different dishes, but both were fantastic and packed with flavor. The service is what really sets this place apart, though. On both visits our servers were attentive, friendly, and always one step ahead. I especially love that they actually ask for your name and then remember it throughout your meal. It's such a small touch, but it makes you feel genuinely welcome and says a lot about the quality of people they have working there. And I have to mention the tiramisu martini because I ordered it both times and it did not disappoint. It's the perfect brunch cocktail. Had such a great experience at Werewolf! The food was so good! We had the breakfast burrito, chicken inna biscuit, steak scramble, and the cinnamon roll cakes, and everything was flavorful, fresh, and delicious. The drinks were just as amazing. I had the Blossom Something and the Juicy K, and both were great recommendations from the hostess Jazzy who was also wonderful and made us feel welcomed from the moment we arrived. I absolutely love this place. The customer service is amazing. I ordered the cinnamon roll pancakes and it was so big and so fulfilling and tasted so great. The mimosas are also very tasteful. If you're interested in a Mexican style breakfast and American breakfast, this would be the place to go to. The blueberry lemon pancakes are refreshing and the Oreo pancakes are a little too much to chocolate my friends enjoyed the California burrito, but said it needed a little bit more flavor. On a Wednesday evening, we stopped by Werewolf for dinner. While I'm a vampire, I was willing to make an exception to check out this highly-rated bar. Located in Gaslamp, street parking is your best bet. For most spots, you have to pay metered parking until 10 p.m. I was able to find an exception to the rule around 8:30 p.m. Ambiance (3/5): Werewolf is a pretty laid back bar. Which is right up my alley. This happened to be karaoke night. This may be an unpopular option but I'm not a fan of karaoke. If you are, you're golden. I would've enjoyed the ambiance a bit better on a standard night. We sat at a wooden booth in the back of the restaurant. Service (3/5): You order at the bar (both food and drinks). They were fairly busy on a Wednesday and only two bartenders were working. As a result, service was a bit slow. After placing my order, I closed out. Their cocktail list doesn't list prices. Not a fan of that. I asked the bartender how much some particular cocktails cost, and he didn't go. Not a good look. Drinks (4/5): Werewolf has an interesting list of craft cocktails. Plus a full bar. Just list your cocktail prices on the menu! Food (4.5/5): The food is surprisingly quite good. I went with the wings appetizer (and made them sticky for a dollar extra). Sweet with a little kick. The wings were fried just right with a crispy exterior and juicy inside. Finger-lickin' good! I also couldn't say no to papas balls lol. This appetizer is their version of hushpuppies. Taken to a higher level. Stuffed with mashed tater, bacon, cilantro, cotija, and drizzled with house sauce. Normally, papas balls would scare me, but these are scrumptious. The two appetizers combined were filling for a full meal. read more

Chose this spot for breakfast because I assumed it was a cool, interesting restaurant due to it's name. I was completely surprised to realize that it was more a sports bar than anything. There's a decent amount of seating and the walls are plastered with random prints and posters. There's at least six TVs. The spacing of the seating is kind of weird and the bar takes up about half the restaurant. It was half full when I got there with two bartenders and one server. I sat at the bar assuming I would get quicker service, which was not true. I ordered a coffee and a blue plate, which was basically cheesy chive scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, and a biscuit. The original plate comes with bacon but I subbed it for avocado. The food came out warm (not hot), but I was hungry so I didn't say anything. The eggs, although delicious, were not made with chives, but rather with green onion. The biscuit was dry and came with a pat of butter and some packaged jam. The breakfast potatoes were crispy and well seasoned, however, most of them were burnt or just the scraps at the bottom of the fry basket. Disappointing. The one good thing about this place (other than the friendly staff), is that it might be the cheapest breakfast you can get in Gaslamp. Came here for brunch after a morning at the swap meet! It was a hot day and I really appreciated how cool it was in here despite the front all being open. Much needed cool down for me. This place was packed and the reviews were really good so I came in with high expectations. All staff I interacted with was super nice and friendly! We got biscuits and gravy (no egg), country fried steak, and breakfast balls. The breakfast balls were amazing, little fried balls of mashed potato seasoned so well with bacon and gravy. It was sooooo good. I may end up just getting that for breakfast next time. The biscuits and gravy were just like my mom makes. Good country gravy with a nice soft but crispy biscuit. Visiting for work, and I was looking for something different and interesting to try. It had been years since I have been down to the gas lamp area so part of the allure besides the name was the location. It is the quintessential college town, bar area, downtown (city) collection of people. Some homeless people (not too many) really add to the grunge essence, with the streets providing the fairly grimey feel. Werewolf had quite the vibe for 4pm on a Monday, good music, young adults chatting about some food, the music, and everyday life. One young man was journaling, memorializing his thoughts. BOOM, there's Fiona, a friendly face, interactive, formal intro (she did this with each patron), and it gives you a welcoming feeling. She is attentive, and patient as you navigate the menu. Menu had strong suggestions, happy hour had 50% off appetizers, and prices were very fair. I ordered the Beets/ Brussels/ and Blue salad. It stated it had golden beets which you don't see on many menus and unfortunately is the reason I am giving a 4 for this location, there was not one golden beet in my salad, in fact, there wasn't even one beet. Blue cheese crumble was minimum, and the Brussels were pan fried, to the edge. I also ordered the Hot Chicken Sandwich. This was good, the chicken thankfully slathered in Franks red hot was trying to hide the "blackened" fried chicken. Just on the edge but it was still enjoyable. The star of the food... was the fries. Crisp, hot, lightly salted, and retained the heat and crispiness through me eating the whole sandwich. I am eating healthier today and wasn't planning on any fries, but I did enjoy a few. I would bet anything fry orientated here had to be a winner. Garlic fries, etc. I did buy a t-shirt for my wife, selection was minimal compared to the online store, but seriously, point of sale is where it's at for your merchandise. Not sure if it's normally like that on the weekend during lunch or if it's because the streets were closed for the annual pet parade that was happening. We entered the restaurant to some awesome music by an awesome DJ! There's a bar that takes up half the restaurant and eclectic decor all over. We ended up ordered off the brunch menu as there was so much good stuff on there! I especially liked the Oreo Cookie Cakes (pancakes), it even came garnished with a deep fried Oreo! Finally after months and months of eyeing this place, I brought some friends over and we had an incredible dinner. It's a cozy bar with decent seating indoors and at the bar itself. The staff is amazingly friendly and welcoming, open to sharing recommendations. Shoutout to Taylor for making our night special! I ordered the Chicken Red Hot Sandwich sand bacon and I ate the whole plate. Left no fry or piece behind. The whole night we kept talking about how we were all ready to come back and try more items, as well as their brunch, and their karaoke nights. Garlic fries are good and their ranch is flavorful. Only thing to note is that when a DJ is playing for brunch, it gets LOUD. I've been at night one time and had a lovely time, it's a small, reasonably crowded bar but the energy from karaoke is electric. During the day they have the most delicious (and VERY reasonably priced) brunch!! While it's not bottomless, you get an entire bottle of champagne for like $15, which comes with a couple juices from their LONG list of options. Some are more standard juice, while some like the passion fruit are much more like a syrup. Either way, tastes great in champagne!! The food is unbelievably good for a small dive-bar-looking spot. I knew they were popular for their breakfast, but we came around 4:30pm on a Sunday eve for some snacks. We were in the Gaslamp district for a fun evening, and the name alone was matching this evening's expectations - which is evident from our outdoor and inside pics. Our waitress made a point of remembering our names and was very attentive. Her suggestions were quite good. We read about the Werewolf Nugs and weren't disappointed. Even though these nuggets of dark meat were deep fried, they were super moist inside. As you can see in my pic, they provided 3 sauces: a mayo based, cool sauce, a spicy BBQ sauce and a spicy/sweet sauce. All quite good. My pic doesn't do justice to the Waterfront Sliders. Basically, mini cheeseburgers. Albeit a bit salty, the mini hamburger patty was generous for a slider and cooked enough, yet remained very juicy.
