Great service and good food. This place puts down a small bowl of what appears to be Lays potato chips drizzled with a white sauce and similes with Parmesan cheese. I wish I know what the sauce was, but I was a half bottle of wine in and forgot to ask. But it was tasty -- and where besides a Mexican place do you get a free snack as you pride the menu? I had the frito misto which may have been hand breaded -- lightly -- and fried calamari and shrimp. It tasted very fresh. I also had the lasagna, which was described as having béchamel sauce, a very typical ingredient but not always in the recipe. Unfortunately I couldn't distinguish and béchamel. I was slightly disappointed. But, the oxtail meat used and the richness it gave the red sauce was very good. An umami bomb in my mouth.
The best part of our experience at Roman Wolves was our server, Gian Luca. He was attentive, accommodating, and genuinely interested in making sure we had a good experience. Unfortunately, the food and overall concept didn't quite meet our expectations, especially since this was a special occasion. From the beginning, I was a little concerned when we were served potato chips topped with a some type of creamy cheese as an opening bite. We decided to take a cautious approach and ordered a Pinsa and some wine to see where things went before committing to entrees. Unfortunately, the Pinsa was a flop for us. The dough was thick and chewy rather than having the light, airy, crisp texture I associate with a good Pinsa. Looking around the restaurant also gave me the impression that Roman Wolves is catering to a different type of diner than what we were looking for. The cheese wheel presentation and the specialty chicken pasta reinforced that impression. I was hoping for something that felt more traditionally Roman and authentic. At that point, rather than order entrees and potentially be disappointed again, we decided to cut our losses and leave after the Pinsa. Gian Luca was extremely accommodating and even asked us for feedback. I didn't want to launch into a long explanation at the table, so I simply apologized, tipped him well, and thanked him for his service. I think Roman Wolves has some things to work out. There is clearly an audience for the concept, but for someone looking for a more authentic Roman dining experience, it wasn't what we were expecting. The bright spot was Gian Luca. He handled the situation professionally and graciously, and we really appreciated that.
This was a great spot for one of out many date nights while on vacation. We ordered the polpette, pappardelle, mezze, and some broccoli (for health). The polpette was divine - moist and sizeable meatballs!! The pastas were delicious and filling but not too much where I felt horrible after. Our waiter was lively, kind, and attentive. We had a great time here!!!
Walked into Roman Wolves on a Saturday night around 8pm and was seated in 5 minutes. Our lovely server made us feel welcomed as it was our first time with their Caccio e Pepe chips that you get to savor on while you read the menu. Eden and Natalia were a so charming and a delight assisting us with our questions and making great suggestions. We started with the Caesar salad anchovies on top- We love, please ! I went with the special, an oxtail ragu stuffed pasta with a drizzle of olive oil. The flavors were complex with the acidity of the tomato sauce, combined with the rich beefy, oxtail and umami from the truffle oil. Would come back here next time we're in SD.
My wife and I originally had reservations elsewhere for our anniversary dinner, but seeing the reviews here, the menu, and photos, we made a very last minute decision to switch it up and come here instead and it was the BEST DECISION EVER. Everything about this place just could not have been more perfect. ** SERVICE / STAFF - 5 STARS - AMAZING! ** I'll start with the staff because great people deserve credit. We were very early to our reservations, but luckily there were available seats at the bar so we were seated there until our table was ready. The hosts were super welcoming and friendly. The bartender Dillon was super nice and made my wife a very good looking, carefully crafted cocktail. Our server Jason was honestly one of the best we've ever had anywhere. Like, elite lol. He was extremely friendly, attentive, funny, and very helpful with us trying to decide what to eat because everything on the menu sounded delicious. ** FOOD - 5 STARS - AMAZING! ** Fritto Misto - Very good, crispy, flavorful, large portion, and with great dipping sauces. Would definitely order this again. It comes with shrimp and calamari, however, I think I would have preferred to just have the calamari. Trio Bruschetta - LOVED THIS. One of the best appetizers ever. It came with 3 different toppings - (1) Tomatoes, parmigiano, garlic. (2) Ricotta, prosciutto, walnuts and honey. (3) Roasted artichoke and pesto. All three of them were insanely good. My favorite one was the ricotta and prosciutto! Lasagna - I was deciding between the lasagna or the crab ravioli and our server recommended I go with the lasagna and I'm so glad he did! Honestly, this was one of the best lasagna's I've had. As our server said, it was "MEATY". The Oxtail Ragu was amazing. Never have I had an Oxtail Ragu lasagna before, but it was epic. I highly recommend this to all lasagna lovers. Carbonara - My wife ordered this. She said it was good. I prefer a red sauce pasta, so I can't say much here, but it was a big portion for her and she enjoyed it. Desserts were very good. We had this cream puff type of thing. Honestly can't remember the name of it. It was almost like a whipped cream sandwich? Very fluffy and light. Simply delicious. The cannoli was amazing as well. ** AMBIENCE ** - Vibrant and energetic scene. Clearly everyone there was having a great time. It was exactly what we were looking for. NOTE - There is a 5% surcharge added to the bill for whatever reason. As annoying as this is, we did feel like the dining experience was pretty amazing and made up for it lol. I personally think that restaurants should just make their pricing inclusive of whatever other costs they need to cover and just do without these surcharges.
Cassie was our server tonight, she was very sweet and helpful took time to explain the whole menu and made each of feel welcomed and attended very well to all of us the whole night. Food was supper yummy and very fresh, we were celebrating several birthdays and she brought out a dessert for every one of them. Ambiance is very chic and moody perfect for a date night or girls night out.
This was place was amazing , I found this place on TikTok just looking for a place to spend my birthday and anniversary and we decided to pull up. The outside and inside was beautifully decorated and the staff was friendly , we didn't know we need rsvp it was super busy but we got to sit and the bar with full service ... the food was amazing , fresh and we loved everything we had. This is definitely a small gem and I will come back... our server Luca and Dylan was so much and thank you for the beautiful service
I love the decor here! I've been here twice now- once for happy hour and for an event so far. For happy hour, we shared the calamari and pinsa caprese, and also got a few drinks. I also had to get their cheese wheel pasta! The pinsa was really fresh and delicious. For our entree, we opted for the Filetto di Manzo, which is a grilled filet mignon. It was beautifully presented and beef was tender. The pasta was also flavorful. For dessert, I wanted to try the maritozzi, which was creamy and delicious.
Cacio e pepe was fantastic. Pasta was cooked perfectly. Loved the Super Tuscan wine and my cocktail ("pornodivo") was amazing. The service was very fast and very friendly - felt so welcomed and taken care of. Would def go back!
This is one of my favorite restaurants in San Diego. Such a cute vibe and the pasta always tastes so fresh! Great service and friendly staff. Parking can be difficult in this area so plan ahead. The paccheri picanto al gamberi was delicious!
My boyfriend and I had such a wonderful experience at Roman Wolves! From the hostess to the food runners, bussers, and our server, Luca. Every single person provided exceptional service and made us feel so welcome. If you're lucky enough to have Luca as your server, you're in great hands! He was attentive, kind, and truly went above and beyond to make sure we had an amazing experience. We started with the calamari, which was delicious, and the ribeye was cooked perfectly. I originally ordered the gnocchi vodka pasta, but it just wasn't for me--it was much cheesier than I expected, and I personally prefer a creamier pasta. I felt so bad because I've never sent a dish back before, but Luca made me feel completely comfortable and reassured me that it was absolutely okay. He quickly brought me the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken instead, and it came out so fast! It was incredibly creamy, flavorful, and exactly what I was hoping for. The food was great, but the outstanding hospitality is what really made this experience unforgettable. We'll definitely be back, and we'll be asking for Luca again!
I was finally able to visit Roman wolves with a friend a couple weekends ago and boy was I impressed! It's a beautiful spot with many intimate and inviting spaces to dine. I arrived to find an incredible happy hour which is offered 4-6 pm Sunday -Thursday. There were many dishes to try and I wish we had a larger group so we could've tried them all. We chose the Roman margarita pinsa and the stuffed zucchini blossoms. Both were outstanding and more than enough for two people to share. Now on to the drinks... I ordered the Romantini (their espresso martini) and my friend ordered a Lucius spritz. Both were crafted with extreme care, tasted delicious, and were served with creative messages attached. The service was attentive, and we felt very welcomed and taken care of. Overall, we had a great weekend happy hour, and I am anxious to return. Thank you so much!
RETURN visit to try out the Happy Hour ....greeted and seated by FABRIZIO ...love that he explained each menu item..and we ordered almost half of them... authentic flavors and hearty portions....!

Stopped by in Little Italy while waiting for our friends to land at the airport and popped in for a quick happy hour. We tried the martinis, specialty cocktails, and a charcuterie board. The martinis were delicious, and the charcuterie board was abundant with a great selection--definitely one of the best I've had in Little Italy. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, which made our visit even better. The ambiance is modern, romantic, and elevated, making it a lovely spot to unwind. Che buono! We popped in one night for an impromptu dinner and were seated immediately. I got the Pappardelle Ragu di Roma while my friend went with the Spaghetti Carbonara. Everything was absolutely delish! The Pappardelle Ragu di Roma featured wide ribbon pasta, ground beef, and Italian sausage ragu. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauce was to die for! While I'm usually a red sauce gal, the Spaghetti Carbonara might have converted me. It was honestly some of the best Carbonara I've ever had. It was rich and creamy, yet not overly so. Oh! They also give you complimentary potato chips topped with parmesan and a white cream sauce. I've personally never seen this before! Being a savory snack fanatic, I absolutely loved these! read more

We checked out Roman Wolves for Restaurant Week, they had a great menu with a good variety of options that we enjoyed. To start we got the Fritto Misto and Mozzarella in Carrozza. The highlight between those for me was the Mozzarella in Carrozza, it was a fun and taster twist on mozzarella sticks, I highly recommend. The Fritto Misto wasn't my favorite, so I personally would pass the next time we go, but it also may be a personal flavor preference. For our mains we had the Grilled Octopus and Spaghetti Carbonara. Again, the octopus wasn't my favorite based on the texture (I'm a big grilled octopus fan) but the flavors they went with were great and a nice twist. The start of the show was the Spaghetti Carbonara, it's the best I've had in the States and I highly recommend. The guanciale was thin and crispy, and the sauce was perfection. Finishing up we each had a slice of their Tiramisu and wow, it was delicious! Definitely a must if you saved room for dessert. read more

Roman Wolves was one of the highlights of our trip! The atmosphere, food, and drinks were fantastic, but what truly made the experience unforgettable was our server, Jason. He provided outstanding service, made us feel incredibly welcome, and even took the time to recommend local places to explore during our honeymoon. His kindness, professionalism, and genuine enthusiasm made us feel like more than just guests. Thank you, Jason, for making our honeymoon even more special. Definitely get reservations as they are packed but they do have limited bar seating for first -come first- serve. The pasta is made fresh daily and you can taste the freshness, especially with the gnocchi which was my favorite dish of the evening. It has a delicious , cheesy vodka sauce and some zucchini mixed in too . Highly recommend . I also enjoyed the burrata, caesar and artichoke ravioli. The Caesar comes with anchovies on top but our server warned us and they kindly removed it per our request. I would definitely come back here again next time I'm in the area . read more

We had an amazing experience at Roman Wolves. We ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara and the cheese wheel pasta, and both dishes were absolutely delicious, rich, flavorful, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. For dessert, we tried the bombolini, which were outstanding and the perfect way to end the meal. Everything from start to finish was spot on. Our server, Jason, was amazing! He did a great job explaining the different dishes and recommending some of the best options on the menu, which really enhanced the experience. The decor inside the restaurant is also beautiful--stylish, warm, and very inviting. Highly recommend Roman Wolves if you're looking for excellent Italian food and great service in San Diego. read more
For pasta, Roman Wolves was a beautiful dinner party experience and very welcoming for our visiting friends. The hostess seated us in a nice, intimate booth of clamshell sofas and were patient when we took some time deciding (our group had staggered arrivals), and introduced the cheese wheel pasta and seafood special. The cheese wheel pasta is a good amount of food for sharing and during preparation here they bring the wheel to table side and you watch the Parmesan get torched and your pasta tossed. Seafood special was likewise just as hearty, the seafood not overcooked, and very tomato-rich. I enjoyed the Artichoke Ravioli- delicious, generously plated in pasta sauce. The pesto flavor they have is similar between the ravioli cream and the cheese wheel special. The texture of the shell is just right. Overall my friends and I are very happy we chose Roman Wolves and look forward to having more Italian in our rotation. Thank you to the staff for seamless service. read more
Service - had a reservation for 9 on a Saturday night and was seated right away. Kyle, our server, was great and super helpful and attentive throughout. Apps - ordered the calamari, oxtail meatballs and mozzarella in carrozza. Calamari was best I've had in a while, perfectly cooked with tasty and slightly smoky aioli. We wanted to get the zucchini blossoms but seemed pricey for the amount we'd get but we'll try it the next time. Drinks - every cocktail was great! Pornodivo had a prosecco shot on the side you could drink separate or mix in. Limoncello spritz, spicy marg, and espresso martini all good reviews at the table. Food - I ordered the seafood pasta special and loved how much it came with. Everything was fresh and for a large party the food came out fast too. Space - cute decor, dim lights for vibes. bar space, tables for small and big groups with one larger booth for probably 10ish at the end of the restaurant as well. read more

Tried this place and loved it! Pretty sure they are fairly new in the area. Food is delicious, service is great and the vibe inside is chill and elegant. An incredible birthday dinner where I felt I was truly dining with the Romans, Roman Wolves deserves its hype! From the food, to the ambiance, to the service, everything was impeccable. They brought me a mini champagne flute for my birthday immediately once we were sat which was such a little treat. The cocktails were delicious if you like a sweet drink. The bread was herby and fresh with some fun and delicious dips to accompany it. The pasta were truly the star of the show though. Pillowy soft gnocchi with creamy vodka sauce had me loving every bite, and the incredibly rich and fresh parpadelle ragu had layers of flavor that were incredible. Just as we couldn't take another bite, they finished us off with a tiramisu on the house for my birthday which was light, flavorful, and a great way to end the night. We chose this place for my celebration of ArtWalk weekend. It was Sunday night and it's pretty busy here. We love the atmosphere, and the service is really impressive, our waiter Kyle is very friendly, patient and sweet, we liked him a lot. We ordered some drinks, wine and cocktail. We had fried calamari as appetizer, a Caesar salad and a carbonara pasta. I have to say, the carbonara pasta probably the best I've ever had. The calamari and Caesar salad are nice as well, I'll recommend this place to anyone who wants to have a date night or some type of celebrations. read more

So our Uber driver misunderstood which Italian restaurant we wanted and dropped us off at Roman Wolves so we decided to stay. Happiest of accidents. Our server Jason (with the ascot, lol), was seriously amazing. His recommendations were spot on for each of us and he was enormously entertaining. Everyone besides me opted for the chef's cheese wheel which turned out to be our party's favorite. I opted for the gnocchi with the pink vodka sauce and a mocktail Jason recommended which were fabulous as well. Appetizers were the truffle fries (amazing) with an order of calamari (equally good). Cheese wheel pasta tonight ROCKED MY WORLD, and I don't say that lightly!! Flavor changes nightly so call ahead and see if this one's available. SERVICE, completely on point! Thanks to Fabrizio, Eden, and Jason, couldn't have felt more welcomed. Pinsa was a surprise. Seeing it more and more now in America, but still difficult to find. It's so much better than pizza -you won't feel weighed down after eating. Was one of my favorites in Italy, and now it's here, in Little Italy...LOVE THIS NEIGHBORHOOD! Fiori di Zucca (squash blossoms) were stuffed with cheese, just like everywhere else around here, but these were on a pepper sauce that separates them from all the others. Yum! Polpette (ox meatballs) are great for meat lovers and anyone on Keto. Not as tender as beef meatballs at nearby restaurants, and didn't taste like ox, but at least it wasn't gamey. It's the one item I probably won't order again, but only because I'll want more room for pasta. Calamari was good but nothing to write home about. If you like calamari, order it. But it's really the cheese wheel pasta and pinsa that make this restaurant a destination. As for the ambiance, it's cozy, clean, and with quality decor -truly appreciate the heavy chairs that aren't easily tipped over. It's dimly lit at night, which makes it romantic, but the noise level makes it difficult to hear one another. Come on dates when you're not interested in conversing (wink wink), LOL. read more
Not at all sure what the hype is about this place. We were a party of four on a Saturday night. We sat outside. There were plenty of tables and heaters to keep us cozy. Our server Kyle was very nice and helpful. Unfortunately the food was just ok. We ordered the arugula salad and the artichoke appetizer to start. Both dishes were perfectly fine but definitely nothing to rave about. For our mains2 of us shared the cheese wheel, then we added the chicken and the mussels special. Again everything was five but nothing at all worth raving about. There are plenty of excellent italian restaurants in San Diego- think Piattis and buonapetito for two. This place is just not at that level. read more
