I love the decor here! I've been here twice now- once for happy hour and for an event so far. For happy hour, we shared the calamari and pinsa caprese, and also got a few drinks. I also had to get their cheese wheel pasta! The pinsa was really fresh and delicious. For our entree, we opted for the Filetto di Manzo, which is a grilled filet mignon. It was beautifully presented and beef was tender. The pasta was also flavorful. For dessert, I wanted to try the maritozzi, which was creamy and delicious.

So we made a reservation for inside but it ended up being a so nice we asked to sit outside. The hostess sat us in a breezeway at the world's smallest table. We asked to move to a 4 top in a 85% empty restaurant and she really was unnerved by it. She eventually allowed us to move. They brought lovely chips with toppings to start. Crispy and not too salty. We started with drinks. My friend got the Remus. It was bright and refreshing. 10/10. I got the Romantini. It was perfection. They both came with little inspiring messages. Next we ordered the lamb lollipops. They were served with a arugula salad. The temperature was a little more than I normally eat lamb, but still juicy and delicious. We ordered the carbonara. Delicious and eggy, exactly how a carbonara should be. For the main we ordered the barazino. It's a dramatic plating and served with a large amount of bright veggies. We did find 2 stray pin bones so be careful. We ended with the tiramisu. It was not the best. Dry and the cream was very heavy. They had put a lot of cocoa powder on the top that made it feel even drier. Service was really good. Attentive but not overwhelming. The table settings were beautiful in their simplicity. They do have very poorly cared for plants bordering the patio which attracted lots of bugs.

First time diner to Roman Wolves. I frequent others which are considered the top Italian Restaurants in SD. But, Ive heard the hype and figured it was time to give it a try. Greeted and quickly seated inside by a friendly staff member. First thing I noticed was its was very loud inside. The acoustics are not good. Voices travel and seem to amplify. We had a hard time hearing staff asking about water preference. The restaurant is small/quant with nice decor. We were quickly greeted by our server Ashlin. I noticed she bent down when speaking with us so we could hear each other. Ashlin was amazing all night and service was outstanding by all, but Ashlin was genuinely friendly and gave us drink advice which was spot on. We ordered a Remus (spicy) and it was a great drink. For appetizer we had Fiori Di Zucca - Stuffed Squash Blossoms which were nothing extraordinary but good. I dont recommend this at a price point of $21 for THREE small stuffed blossoms. The two entrees were Ravioli di Granchio (crab stuffed) and Salmone Al Mango. Both of these dishes were tasty but the Ravioli were thin w very little crab stuffing. And at the price point $32 for six ravioli is high. The Salmone was very well cooked and the Risotto was perfectly cooked and delicious. I would order this again. Be aware they add a 4.90% IFL charge to the total bill. I am not a fan of hidden costs and feel it should be added to the prices of the menu items. I understand its for the employees, just add it to the menu prices. If you want a quiet romantic Italian spot, I suggest you go elsewhere due to the noise level. You literally have to raise your voice to be heard across the table. But if want a place with great service with an electric atmosphere give Roman Wolves a shot.

Stopped by in Little Italy while waiting for our friends to land at the airport and popped in for a quick happy hour. We tried the martinis, specialty cocktails, and a charcuterie board. The martinis were delicious, and the charcuterie board was abundant with a great selection--definitely one of the best I've had in Little Italy. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, which made our visit even better. The ambiance is modern, romantic, and elevated, making it a lovely spot to unwind. We can't wait to return with friends and family!

We chose this place for my celebration of ArtWalk weekend. It was Sunday night and it's pretty busy here. We love the atmosphere, and the service is really impressive, our waiter Kyle is very friendly, patient and sweet, we liked him a lot. We ordered some drinks, wine and cocktail. We had fried calamari as appetizer, a Caesar salad and a carbonara pasta. I have to say, the carbonara pasta probably the best I've ever had. The calamari and Caesar salad are nice as well, I'll recommend this place to anyone who wants to have a date night or some type of celebrations.

Che buono! We popped in one night for an impromptu dinner and were seated immediately. I got the Pappardelle Ragu di Roma while my friend went with the Spaghetti Carbonara. Everything was absolutely delish! The Pappardelle Ragu di Roma featured wide ribbon pasta, ground beef, and Italian sausage ragu. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauce was to die for! While I'm usually a red sauce gal, the Spaghetti Carbonara might have converted me. It was honestly some of the best Carbonara I've ever had. It was rich and creamy, yet not overly so. Oh! They also give you complimentary potato chips topped with parmesan and a white cream sauce. I've personally never seen this before! Being a savory snack fanatic, I absolutely loved these!

My husband enjoyed a lovely dinner at Roman Wolves last night! The service was stellar, super friendly and attentive. The spritz was incredible and refreshing. The burrata was delicious! The flatbread was great. The burrata was really good (not amazing). It felt like every table was celebrating a birthday (including me!) and the whole place would chime in and sing happy birthday. They gave me a birthday cannoli that was delicious! Would definitely recommend this place. There were babies, young couples, families, everyone welcome!

We had an amazing experience at Roman Wolves. We ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara and the cheese wheel pasta, and both dishes were absolutely delicious, rich, flavorful, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. For dessert, we tried the bombolini, which were outstanding and the perfect way to end the meal. Everything from start to finish was spot on. Our server, Jason, was amazing! He did a great job explaining the different dishes and recommending some of the best options on the menu, which really enhanced the experience. The decor inside the restaurant is also beautiful--stylish, warm, and very inviting. Highly recommend Roman Wolves if you're looking for excellent Italian food and great service in San Diego.

    Artichoke Ravioli w pesto cream
    Grace G.

For pasta, Roman Wolves was a beautiful dinner party experience and very welcoming for our visiting friends. The hostess seated us in a nice, intimate booth of clamshell sofas and were patient when we took some time deciding (our group had staggered arrivals), and introduced the cheese wheel pasta and seafood special. The cheese wheel pasta is a good amount of food for sharing and during preparation here they bring the wheel to table side and you watch the Parmesan get torched and your pasta tossed. Seafood special was likewise just as hearty, the seafood not overcooked, and very tomato-rich. I enjoyed the Artichoke Ravioli- delicious, generously plated in pasta sauce. The pesto flavor they have is similar between the ravioli cream and the cheese wheel special. The texture of the shell is just right. Overall my friends and I are very happy we chose Roman Wolves and look forward to having more Italian in our rotation. Thank you to the staff for seamless service.

What a terrific meal in Little Italy. The restaurant was charming, the service was stellar and the food delicious. Shared the Caesar salad, had the Gnocchi special and the shrimp and pasta which were perfectly cooked. Highly recommend

Service - had a reservation for 9 on a Saturday night and was seated right away. Kyle, our server, was great and super helpful and attentive throughout. Apps - ordered the calamari, oxtail meatballs and mozzarella in carrozza. Calamari was best I've had in a while, perfectly cooked with tasty and slightly smoky aioli. We wanted to get the zucchini blossoms but seemed pricey for the amount we'd get but we'll try it the next time. Drinks - every cocktail was great! Pornodivo had a prosecco shot on the side you could drink separate or mix in. Limoncello spritz, spicy marg, and espresso martini all good reviews at the table. Food - I ordered the seafood pasta special and loved how much it came with. Everything was fresh and for a large party the food came out fast too. Space - cute decor, dim lights for vibes. bar space, tables for small and big groups with one larger booth for probably 10ish at the end of the restaurant as well.

Restaurants and bars filled to the brim. Lack of street parking availability. With that being said, after circling around for a while, I found a free parking spot on the street five minutes away by foot. Ambiance (4/5): While Bencotto has a nice interior, I went with some al fresco dining on their front patio. There are 20 or so seats available right off the street, so it's not a large patio by any means, but it's nice. The weather was a little chilly by San Diego standards, so they had some heaters out there. It always reminds me of Europe when I'm dining al fresco. Service (3/5): A little slow at times, but overall, pretty good. My waiter was friendly, he just could have stopped by a little quicker. Still solid though. Drinks (4/5): They have a nice selection of wine. I ended up rolling with an Italian beer I had never had before instead. It was a lager and they served it with a chilled glass which is always a nice touch. Food (4/5): The reason I came delivered. Their most popular entree is pasta cooked in a cheese wheel. The pasta is in a creamy truffle sauce with mushrooms. No protein but you can add some for an additional charge. I added grilled chicken. What's awesome about this dish is that they cook it for you inside by the hostess stand. So you can go there and see it happening. My server didn't give me a heads-up (shame on him) but luckily, someone at a table close to me did after me, so I joined to see their food being prepared. I also ordered the gnocco frito which is puffy fried bread. You get four pieces and I had never had this type of Italian bread. Not amazing, but it complemented the pasta well. All of their pasta is made in house and you can taste the difference. The cheese wheel pasta was absolutely delicious. I was pumped to cross this bucket list item off my list.

One thing we learned: if you decide to make a reservation here, especially on a weekend night, arrive early to accommodate the time it takes to find parking. The restaurant does not have its own parking lot, it's street parking-only and space is tough to come by. We circled around for at least 15 minutes before securing a spot and wound up a little over 20 minutes late for our reservation. Thankfully, we still had a table set up and waiting for us. It was very busy when we walked in, it appeared as though the restaurant was near-capacity. The restaurant has a nice, rustic charm to it, but I'll admit some of the charm is taken away by the crowd of noisy people. The restaurant space is small with as many tables and chairs that can possibly fit, which inevitably means tables are very close to one another. It would help if the restaurant acquired a much larger space, or if it got rid of maybe 30% of the tables/chairs so that seating could be more spaced-out. Service was initially slow, but understandable considering the completely packed venue. Our servers were incredibly friendly and provided exceptional service. They were patient and informative in answering our questions (particularly about the "cheese wheel"). We ordered the house specialty bread with 3 different spreads as an appetizer, the lamb shank was my date's entree choice while I ordered the pappardelle pasta with short rib. The bread was truly excellent, we both devoured it. My dish was also excellent, the short rib was very rich and flavorful and the pasta was cooked well. I tasted my date's lamb dish, which I felt was bland compared to mine and I wasn't crazy about it. My date seemed to enjoy it, though. We were too full to order any dessert, so I can't speak for their desserts. The food I did try was mostly amazing. We will likely be back, although we might try coming on a Monday or Tuesday night to avoid the crowds and have an easier time with parking.
