I recently visited Fig Tree Café and had four delicious dishes. The classic Eggs Benedict was outstanding--flavorful with perfectly runny eggs and bread cooked to perfection. The fried chicken sandwich brought bold Southern flavors (a bit unconventional for breakfast, but still excellent). The egg breakfast sandwich with sausage was delightful, and the California omelette with avocado, served with an English muffin on the side, was fantastic. It was all topped off with their delicious coffee. If you're in the Point Loma area near Liberty Station and looking for a great breakfast spot, look no further than Fig Tree Café. Came here with some friends from out of town. Extremely solid location for breakfast! We had everything from pancakes to a bagel with lox to pancakes. Each was great. Of all of them the sandwich may be the fave. The sauces on that thing were hella tasty. Special shout out to Ro! Went above and beyond in our service. Was quick, attentive, kind, but more importantly wanted to make sure we had a great experience and catered recs to us. Really fantastic service and will absolutely ask for Ro next time we are in. Numerous places to sit outside. The courtyard is very lovely with a few tables inside too. There tends to be a wait. They don't take reservations but considering where it's at we just took a nice stroll and had a table for four within 15/20 minutes. Parking is street and there's plenty of it. You can park in the parking lot in front of Trader Joe's but we have always gotten lucky nearby. read more

I was a little underwhelmed with this place, and maybe I ordered the wrong things. I got the short rib Benedict and it was honestly soggy and flavorless. It tasted more like water and oil than anything else, really bummed out. The man candy was good, but I expected it to be crispy, mine was super soggy and floppy. My Mexican mocha was frickin fantastic, it's the perfect sugary sweet morning drink, not very coffee strong. My friend got an espresso martini that was also super good. The service was alright, we were seated right away, but every time we needed something or were ready to order or pay the waiter went to everyone but us, it was like he was avoiding us. Not the biggest deal, but it got to be a bit frustrating. The place itself is actually really cute, the liberty station one is outdoor, with big open window areas, great on a super nice day, shaded so you aren't in direct sun, but then allowing airflow and you feel like you are outside. Dined here for lunch the other day with two pals and had a great time! Service was beyond excellent! Yelp shout out to Ben, one of the FTC managers who visited us at our table and was both hospitable and helpful. He gave us his favorite items as well as what's most popular. Two of us ordered their Grilled Turkey sandwich with side salad (instead of fries). I can't recall what my other buddy ordered but he couldn't finish it and told the rest to-go. Sat in their covered patio and it was a great day so it was perfect. I also ordered a cold brew and a blackberry mocktail, both of which were tasty & refreshing. Food quantity was adequate, prices reasonable, my order was served hot and fresh. Restrooms were clean, all in all, no complaints. Ordered the sampler plate and asked for the lemon ricotta pancake, apple fritter pancake, and fig jam & ricotta French toast. Waited around 30mins for the sampler to arrive and they gave me one wrong item. They gave me one lemon strawberry French toast instead of the lemon ricotta pancake and I told the waiter about the confusion. Waiter then apologized and fixed the issue and then proceeded to tell us it would be free of charge. Turns out they charged us an extra $5 for their mistake. Won't be coming back. read more

Came for a work luncheon. Great area of course with ample free parking. They seated our group of 9 well. The menu is pretty simple and I can tell by the hot sauce on the table they are affiliated with another restaurant chain (I'm thinking breakfast republic? Rooster on the bottle). Staff was excellent and friendly. I got a delicious hot chocolate and the traditional Benedict (one in English muffin and one on focaccia). This came with potatoes as was good but nothing amazing to me. I do prefer it on the English muffin. I feel like I should've ordered something else. Everyone's food did look delicious. Oh my. Where the HECK do I starts. First, the service. It took us 20 minutes to see a waiter and when he showed up he was uninterested and unhelpful. We saw him a total of 3 times in our whole visit. 1: taking our order 2: giving our food 3: getting our check. Not a single check in. Second, the cream cold brew is disgusting. It comes as a glass of milk with coffee ice cubes that takes 20 minutes to melt and is gross. The sad part is the food was good, but when the coffee and service is bad I can't recommend a place like this in good conscience. read more

I recently visited Fig Tree Cafe with a large party of 11 at Liberty Station, and overall it was a mixed experience. We called ahead and were quoted a 30-minute wait, but when we arrived, we ended up waiting a little over an hour. It was clear they were busy, but it was disappointing to see other groups being seated while we continued to wait. Once seated, it seemed like there may have only been one server handling multiple tables. Service wasn't terrible, but it wasn't very attentive either we didn't get check-ins for things like extra napkins or refills unless we flagged someone down. That said, the food was honestly the highlight. Everything we ordered was delicious. The fig and ricotta French toast with lemon was especially good definitely a standout. For a large group, not all dishes came out at the same time, so just be prepared for a staggered service. We were there for about two hours total, so between the wait time and the pacing of service, it does require some patience. When our table was ready, I was pretty disappointed that they sat us at a two seater when we had three people (me, husband, & toddler). I noticed that there were three other couples (with dogs) that all got 4 seaters, so that was already kind of annoying. Our table didn't have enough space for all of us, so it was just a very hectic experience. We got the huevos rancheros, meatloaf hash, yogurt plate, man candy and arugula potatoes. The chips on the huevos rancheros were really stale and didn't taste fresh. I wasn't a fan of the flavor of the meatloaf hash.. the menu said it was basil pesto, and I love basil pesto.. but whatever they actually used didn't taste like it. It had the texture of lemongrass.. which I'm not a fan of. The man candy was underwhelming.. I was expecting it to be crunchy/crispy, but it was limp and super soggy. There's plenty of parking around the area, we came during the week and didn't have a problem finding a spot. We were seated quickly and there were several tables in side and outside. It's a very relaxed setting and you can have large groups there. The menu was large enough to give options without being overwhelming. Nice portions sizes and reasonable prices. The Apple fritter pancakes had a nice bunch of Apple bits throughout. The breakfast burrito was so hearty my husband didn't even touch his potatoes (though our son ate them by the handful). I don't really like places that pre-fill that many water cups and let them sit there. Especially at a place where bugs and birds can just come in. It's fine to have the pitcher sit there and I understand it gets busy, but I just think it's not so sanitary and there must be a better way to do things. Their water doesn't taste so good. Just regular tap water, which makes me not really want to try their drinks. I had their rose latte before and it was delicious though, many many flowers on top (if you're into that) The food was delicious, but not up to temp. I like my food hot, not warm. My first bite of the short ribs on the Benedict was lukewarm. Only the egg and potatoes were hot. Although I'm sitting outdoors and know the food can get cold fast, it shouldn't be that fast. Service was just okay. They know they're popular. Always a good experience here at Fig Tree. Came at 8am on Sunday, after taking a family member to the airport, for a quick bite before a very long planned day today. My Husband and I were seated immediately in the covered patio. It's very nice because there are heat lamps throughout for warmth on this crisp cool air day. The SD Half Marathon was going on and so the place was not packed, which was great for us. Our server was very attentive, friendly, and customer service oriented. We ordered: Short Rib Benedict (my fave dish) with Avocado Brioche French Toast with Bananas Foster upgrade Cranberry Juice Hot Green Tea Everything was PERFECTLY prepared and delicious. Our food was out within 10-12 minutes from ordering. That chef has a wonderful prep system I suppose because everything was freshly prepared and made when it arrived at the table. Tables are a little close together so be prepared to be nice and cozy. Good menu selection with a little something for everyone. I got the Turkish Toast which was phenomenal!
