On my visit, I was looking for something light since I'm on a nutrition plan, so I went with an egg and cheese breakfast sandwich on an everything bagel. The sandwich tasted pretty good, but I was a bit surprised that they wanted to charge an extra $3 just to add a side of bacon. It felt like something that should've been included in the base price rather than a pricey add-on. Needless to say I was disappointed not to have the bacon because I did not want to pay extra. Stopped by here at opening time to try their breakfast as on weekends it's been relatively busy. We started off with their miso Carmel latte and a cappuccino. The miso is apparently their most popular drink. Both were okay. I'm a cinnamon roll fan so we got that to start too and that was tasty! It was sweet and yummy. A solid choice. They have been having problems with their walk in fridge so some items on the menu weren't available. We ended up going with their egg sandwich (with bacon jam) and their simple breakfast (toast, eggs, bacon and potatoes). The clear winner was the bagel egg sandwich with bacon jam. That jam was insane! So tasty. Highly recommend. Their simple breakfast was okay but the potatoes were the star of that dish. All in all the food took a long time, the coffee was meh, and most of the food was solid but didn't blow our minds away. I think should we have waited in line on the weekend we would have been disappointed but as a weekday breakfast it was a solid choice but was still rather expensive. We sat inside (but there was a lot of seating outside). I recommend trying to sit outside as the bench inside isn't the most comfy. It's Liberty Station so there's plenty of parking lots or street parking (assume the street parking will be taken if it's the weekend). read more

I love this place! A much needed delicatessen in San Diego! And it's in beautiful Liberty Station. They are only open for breakfast and lunch. We had some outstanding eggs, potatoes and bagels with lox. It's kind of hard to find because the sign doesn't say that it is a restaurant. They have an amazing bar with a fun rum selection. It's sophisticated and lovely inside. They also have a lovely little selection of bakery including a sesame Babka! So go without question! The mortadella sandwich on the other hand, sounded very appealing on the menu, but if I had seen a photo of it beforehand, I'm not sure I would've ordered it. I especially disliked the bread, however, my dear Bailey- see photo below, loved it. I was only able to eat half of the roughly 9"x9" sandwich. The cheese and the mortadella were tasty, but the thick bread drowned out all the flavors. I kept peeling away the thick bread to give to Bailey. She couldn't get enough of it, lol! I loved the locally made pottery used to serve the coffee and sandwich as well. Sadly, the PB store that sold the pottery has closed down. As with every restaurant in Pt Loma, I found the noise level due to the constant overhead planes to be excessive, even inside, since they leave their doors open. Love this place! Everything was delicious and we can't wait to come back. After a short stroll around Liberty Station, we stopped at Wildflour for the first time for lunch. For drinks, we got an iced matcha latte and an iced americano. Super cute jars and garnishes in the drinks. Both were tasty and I love the pebble ice. We decided to try the sandwiches and ordered the Mortadella and the Prime Rib. We both ordered full size sandwiches and it was definitely a lot and enough to take home. The Mortadella had mortadella (haha), stracciatella, and pistachio cream on a focaccia. The Prime Rib came with delicious warm prime rib, provolone, and supposed to be horseradish cream. I don't like horseradish so I asked what could be subbed in instead. The guy at the counter recommended the chermoula aioli and that ended up being so tasty. Our favorite was the Prime Rib, it was so flavorful, warm, and delicious. The focaccia was soft on the inside but had a nice crust. Yum! For dessert, we got the banana pudding. Not sure if the middle was supposed to be almost frozenish but it was actually very nice and welcome. It actually made it taste even better. We sat outside and they had umbrellas for shade. Plenty of seating options inside as well. To order, there's a counter and your group seats themselves. Wildflour is always good. It's in Liberty Station so parking is typically pretty easy since there's a bunch of parking lots/curbside parking all over. I got the BLT sandwich and added avocado and it was super tasty. We also ordered the Kale Salad and Sweet Potato Hash to share and I haven't stopped thinking about the Kale Salad since. I also ordered the banana espresso tonic but I just don't think it was for me personally. It was kinda too sour... Service was kind of slow when we went but the servers were all friendly and helpful. Wildflour Delicatessen is Chef Phillip Esteban's newest entity in his growing empire. The combination deli/bakery/cocktail bar was located in a suite at one of the former barracks in the Liberty Station complex of Point Loma. There was a soft opening in February followed by a shutdown period before it reopened earlier this month. You can park in the lot on the opposite side of Historic Decatur Rd where there were plenty of spaces and walk over. I didn't notice any prominent signage to indicate the presence of the business which they may want to do in the future. The ambiance felt more like a bistro than a traditional delicatessen. There was seating outdoors on the front patio, indoors in a dining area, and at the bar. Table service was available if you wanted to dine in which was what I did. A service counter processed to-go orders from the bakery and deli. The menu boards featured sections that were available for different parts of the day. Sandwiches, salads, small plates, large plates, vegetables, and sweets were the categories that were served for dinner. I chose the Octopus from the small plates and the Pork from the large plates for my meal. A grilled tentacle was sliced into small pieces and served with confit fingerling potatoes, espelette pepper, and olive oil. The last ingredient was used too much as it made the dish very greasy on the bottom. I also prefer the tentacle to be served intact as one piece for such an item. A grilled pork chop on the bone was topped with capers, golden raisins, pine nuts, and verjus. The meat was cooked perfectly, however for $38 there should have been another component on the plate like mashed potatoes or a green vegetable. I wonder if the menu will be expanded and/or items will be rotated. The opening roster was solid, however I felt there needed to be more charcuterie to reflect the second part of the business name. There were limited meats, cheeses, and salads on display at the counter. This goes back to my observation that the place felt more like a bistro. For now, I gave a 3.5 star rating for my dining experience at Wildflour Delicatessen. read more

Came into here during the wine event happening at the winery sharing the space. The bartender was amazing. Got their ube based cocktail and enjoyed their pork skewers. Kitchen was limited sadly but still the food was good and just what I needed. Indoor and outdoor seating available with nice interior decor of modern simplicity. Full bar available but no bartender present. The deli case displayed some bakery and a couple of veggie dishes. An overhead menu listing offerings of breakfast, small/large plates and sandwiches. No host to greet customers present at the front. There were staff in the back chatting away with no conscious effort to help customers despite our standing there waiting, was not a pleasant experience and Lack of Service definitely makes a very Bad first impression... :( read more

Stopped by Liberty Station to grab something to snack on and came across this new restaurant called "WILD FLOUR DELICATESSEN", it's their 3rd day of soft opening today. Got seated outdoors because the inside was already packed. Outdoor has a lot of seating with a nice Breeze. Mark took our order and got the PRIME RIB SANDWICH, OCTOPUS and BELLINI cocktail. The Bellini cocktail was refreshing. The octopus has a good smooth texture and seasonings. The PRIME RIB Sandwich was Big and good portion of the meat on my Sandwich but it took 40 minutes before it got delivered to our table, but it was a good Sandwich. Mark and Megan were alternating taking care of our table, both were very friendly and so was Okwan checking out our table too. A few on the Menu were not available yet since they are still in their Soft opening. They mentioned to us that their Grand Opening is Next Friday and they will add more items to their menu. They also don't have much to offer on the menu. The lunch menu is confusing for what little there was. Both the left and right side said "until 8pm" but the waitress told us only the left side was available. The GOOD news! The Cesar kale was DELICIOUS! I can not in good faith say I'd recommend this establishment off of the first experience. Though the bagel was flavorful with the right amount of kick from the bacon jam, and the cortado was ok; the service was almost completely abysmal. I understand the establishment is new (waitress go to statement) but the energy given off was almost a "I don't care what you want this all we have" type attitude. This energy was felt by all at the table. Also be aware as stated by the waitress initially they do not separate checks, will only split down the middle, though she did actually split our checks. I heard about Wildflour from a friend and I wanted to go check it out at my first opportunity. Newly opened, Wildflour serves a limited breakfast, lunch, and dinner in their beautiful and aesthetically-pleasing space in Liberty Station. There's plenty of free parking on the street and in the lot across the street. As my visit was in the morning, I ordered a flat white ($6) and a "Salt Twist" pastry ($8). The flat white was made with Oat Milk and it was fine, albeit extremely small (6 or 8 oz. cup). It was also overpriced. The little heart on the top was a cute touch. The "Salt Twist" consisted of croissant dough twisted around a centerpiece of guava and cheese. It was tasty enough. The guava and cheese part was the highlight. The croissant part was light and flaky, as expected. Overall, this was a quick visit and I was mostly underwhelmed. Wildflour has potential for sure. For me, it wouldn't be an everyday coffee place because the value really isn't there. I hope they continue to get better and add more items to their menu. Best wishes! read more

Excited to try this new addition to Liberty Station. Today was day one of soft opening so we expected things to not be perfect (yet). We did have to wait 40 minutes to get the bread and butter we ordered but it was delicious with an amazing seaweed honey and butter. After the long initial wait the food was great! Besides the bread, we had the pastrami sandwich, mortadella sandwich, cauliflower, and grilled octopus. Everything was flavorful and perfectly prepared. We initially had a different server who we didn't see for a long while so waved down Qi ("Key") who helped get our bread order, and took over serving our table. He was great! Solid addition to Liberty Station area - this one is right across from Con Pane. Came here with a girlfriend on a random Wednesday as a walk-in. Plenty of seats were open around 5 as we had just missed happy hour (1-4pm). The inside is very quaint and cute, and while it was fairly open when we walked in, by the time we left it was completely full. 4/5 Bread and butter: bread is just a slightly a bit more burnt than I would have liked. Comes with a dollop of honey and seaweed salted butter on the rim. We are both not huge butter people but felt this could use more butter! Seaweed butter was savory umami forward and delicious with the charred bread. 3/5 Octopus: the portion is on the smaller side. The fingerling potatoes are slightly sweet and the octopus was well cooked. Mostly disappointed in portion size here 3.5/5 broccolini: ordered this because I wanted to try the bagna cauda but everything was dried and grated on top of the broccolini. Flavors were nice. 4.5/5 chicken: do you see the portion on this lol? It's a huge half roasted chicken with a spicy dry rub of za'atar - a bit smoky, very savory, and somehow the breast remained tender and juicy along with the dark meat portions of thigh/drumstick. I would totally get this again. Only downside is there are no bigger knives to use to cut into this with and it can get quite messy. I also wished the skin was more crispy! 4/5 Panna cotta: the miso caramel makes this a surprisingly savory dish. The crumbles add to the texture and I liked the smoothness of the panna cotta with the passionfruit topping and crumbles. Would get again. Next time I'm going to try some of their fish dishes - they had run out of the mackerel and whole grilled fish this night. I'd also like to come back to try their sandwiches for lunch! read more

Food, service, and aesthetic 10/10 I visited from the LA area for an event hosted at Wildflour. The event served several dishes including the prime rib, chicken, and asparagus. All dishes were perfectly seasoned. Truly cannot remember the last time I had such well seasoned and flavorful meats. The service was top tier--the servers were attentive and friendly. The decor of the place was fresh, clean, and hip. The location was great in the arts district of the area. The only thing that makes the area not ideal is the planes loudly flying overhead rather often. They're located near the airport and I believe a military base so it can get quite loud outside where me and my party were seated. Just a small thing, but other than that, this place was the perfect spot. I'm not from the area, but I would love to return! I'm not a huge coffee drinker but espresso martini was smooth and well-balanced, with a nice kick without being overly sweet.
