Really cute café with great customer service! I came here with a friend and had a really nice experience. When we arrived, they had just finished making the chocolate croissants, and they were so good--warm, flaky, and not overly sweet, which I really appreciated. The café itself is super cute and aesthetic, and I loved the little detail of them putting edible printed paper on top of the drinks. It's such a fun and unique touch! The space is also a good size and would be a nice spot to catch up with friends or hang out for a while. There's also a food spot connected to the café, and everything I saw coming out looked really good. I didn't get a chance to try the food this time, but I'll definitely be back to give it a try. The only thing to keep in mind is that parking can be difficult, so definitely plan accordingly. Overall, really enjoyed my visit and would definitely come back for the croissants, drinks, and to try the food next time!
Cute, very pink and Instagram-worthy café near Fashion Valley. Parking is limited to one hour, but there were multiple spots available when I went. My only issue was the heat. The café was quite warm when we arrived, and the AC was initially off despite the warm weather. Since it's attached to a pizza place with an oven, that may have added to it. I mentioned it to the owner; she adjusted the fan and eventually turned the AC on, which helped. Coffee was good and reasonably priced. Overall, a cute, quiet spot for coffee with friends, and I'd come back.
4/5 Iced matcha latte was tall! They also add this cute butterfly edible wafer that was a surprise. The best version is lavender. 5/5 decor and size, it's a very big size and really nice 3/5 experience: maybe because it's summer there was no AC on except for 1 or 2 floor fans that only reach a couple of chairs in the area. Maybe if it's busier they turn on AC? I was the only one in the afternoon
Oh, so terrible service! Asked 4 water, never received. Even their own menu says two poached eggs; mine arrived over hard. Without follow-up. Definitely not worth it. No salt, no pepper, no napkins, no service at all, no water (I even asked for water; no, how am I doing? etc. Very disorganized, totally hit and miss. Difficult parking. High price point: $19.00 for two eggs only. Never Again!
Had a lovely quick brunch. Mary was so attentive and friendly! We kind of filled up on dessert first because I changed my mind at the last second to add the Shakshuka but it was delicious! Zero regrets on the change, bread was hot, fresh and tasty! The mango dessert was gorgeous and tasty! (I dug in too quick to get a picture) Carrot cake and coffees were good as well! Definitely give this adorable spot a visit!

I had the most delightful experience at Kouklas Café! From the moment I walked in, Mary, the owner, was incredibly nice and attentive once I arrived. I told her what I was looking for, and she suggested a caramel macchiato. There were plenty of syrups to select from, but I kept it classic. The café is bright pink, super clean, and full of charm. Mary also gave us three delicious flavored macaroons which were strawberry, red velvet, and chocolate. and They were a perfect treat. I also did order the mango dessert which was incredible!!!! It's not overly sweet but sweet enough. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and it's connected to a pizza place with a little bar at the back. Mary told us she'll be hosting a grand opening soon but no exact date just yet! So definitely keep an eye out on that by following her Instagram @mary_nafso . There is also plenty of parking outside so parking shouldn't be an issue. I can't wait to go back!
In search of this hidden pink cafe, I finally spotted them at the same location as Lucca's Pizza (they share the space). Aside from the usual cafe items, you can expect a menu of Italian entrees like pasta and flatbreads, shelves of wine, and aesthetic looking desserts all in one location. As I was interested in the food, that would have to be a review for a future visit! I loved their butterfly printed latte art that I've seen all over their photos. The coffee does come at a steep price with tip and a sub of oat milk. Any hot latte can be made with the design so I opted for a caramel latte. It was topped with rose petals and came in a medium sized mug. I was met with friendly service from Mary, the owner. I wanted to get some work done here, and although possible, didn't find it the coziest setting as it is shared with diners of Lucca's. I'm not sure if they will have their own space but it definitely would make their overall theme of the cafe more coherent! Usually pink themed cafes are a bit overdone and are expected to be overpriced, but I didn't mind Kouklas cafe. My rating would be a 4/5 stars!
Great coffee shop to go when you are in the mood for something special. When you walk in the ambience is done to the max. It's an explosion of pink flowers and totally bougie, perfect for your Instagram photo shoots, but ironically, they don't have an Instagram page. I checked! The owner helped us and made us a cappuccino and a latte. My cappuccino had a little butterfly and flower petals and was so lovely. I selected a dessert sampler which she upfront told me was $36. A bit steep, but you've got to see these desserts! Handcrafted and absolutely beautiful. If you're not wanting to spend that much, you could just get a slice of cake or a single dessert but we were having a special occasion. I also appreciate her, letting us know the price so there was not a sticker shock when we got rang up. The coffee drinks were superb and the desserts tasted as good as they look. Each one totally different. The back of Kouklas is kind of a convenience store/wine shop. There are a few tables and it looks like folks could come in for special events if they wanted to. We saw a few other food items go out, woodfired pizzas, some hummus arrangement, etc.. that looked very good. This café is tucked into the side of a little shopping center below an apartment complex in Mission Valley. You would never know it was there unless you were looking for it. There is a small parking deck available.
This place is really hidden away! But such a cute surrounding area! This was also a recent place I visited that was oh, so very, very pink. I'm not sure what the obsession is with tiny pink shops, but I don't love it. Decor was pretty unimpressive. It's pretty weird that the pink just stops mid-store to show a small market. My mom got a latte, which she said was unimpressive and she's definitely had better. I ended up getting a Raspberry Mascarpone treat of sorts. It was overly sweet and you couldn't taste any raspberry, just mascarpone. Pretty disappointing. I don't think the treats were made here considering the hostess wasn't too knowledgeable about what each treat was.
One word: PINK! Went here for Galentine's with my girl Serena!! We took in all the aesthetics. Love the butterflies on my matcha latte. Loved the big mirror. This is my kinda café. The owner Mary was so friendly and made us feel at home. We'll definitely be back. You can park in the complex and/or across the street by the shopping. center. Everything I needed and more. Check them out ladies and gentlemen. Thank ya! Enjoy!

Absolutely amazing coffee, but somehow even better vibes and I am not sure I've ever received better service anywhere literally??? I'm obsessed. Couldn't recommend this pace higher!!! If you're looking for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, coffee, wine,... they have it all. Coffee shop is attached to a lil Italian restaurant. Both are AMAZING.

Found this gem with the fam, and we had to check it out. So glad we did, the service was 10/10. They were so thoughtful and sweet. The chef even came out to our table to ask us how we liked everything. The ambiance was pink and cute and so aesthetic. My latte was so good and rich and creamy. My avocado toast was the perfect size. The shaksuka that my mom had was amazing, great flavor, perfect spice level and the homemade pizza bread that came along was hot and fluffy. We left with some sweets and got to try the macaroons. We will be back ! thank you for the amazing experience! read more

We came here yesterday for the matcha and they blew it out of the park! I first tried the strawberry matcha but I wanted it a bit more sweet so I asked for a couple of pumps of lavender syrup and she was more than happy to give it to me. She came back around to our table and asked me if it was good and I said yes but she read my face and told me she will remake it for me. I didn't want to ask her to do that but the fact that she did makes me a return customer for life. Not only is the cafe super cute, it is attached to Lucca's pizza and Market. We ordered a Pizza margarita and chicken Alfredo and they were so good. When I was ordering, I asked the man for extra Alfredo sauce and he said don't worry about it, it is included. Both the people there were so kind. My daughter was giving us a hard time about eating the pizza and the lady saw her crying and gave her a cookie for free to cheer her up. We will be coming here every time we're in town and I recommend you guys try it too! They also have all kinds of desserts that are so yummy! read more

Great ambiance, the most adorable desserts, and great service! Employees were very helpful with what was popular and what to choose. Lots of great options, and everything was beautiful. I got the butterfly chai latte and a raspberry pistachio cloud cake. All the desserts looked so good! My latte had great flavor and was the perfect amount of sweet. Very cute place tucked away in the Promenade. We were a little confused, is a market or is it a café? It's both! We were greeted by the lovely lady behind the counter. The beautiful desserts and pastries drew us to this spot but unfortunately it was a miss. We came close to 2:00pm and there were only a few pastries left. Though the desserts looked good, I wasn't convinced they were made in house. When I inquired if they were indeed made there she said yes. We settled on the Crème Brûlée Cheesecake. She plated a slice with two forks to share. I look over at the frozen beneath the drink menu and see a box labeled cheesecake. That was utterly disappointing. I don't mind eating desserts that are made elsewhere. I just don't appreciate being lied to about it. Honesty is important when I am supporting local businesses. The cheesecake flavor was good the freshness was questionable. Definitely had the defrosted taste. While this place is super cute, I don't like the lack of integrity. Will not return. read more
This is my 50th review... and I'm happy to recommend Kouklas Cafe. I went here with my fiancee on a weekday afternoon. We both had a craving for coffee and a pastry, and decided on Kouklas after reading the stellar reviews. In short, I give five stars to the service (thank you, Mary!), the flavor of the coffee and pastries. I wasn't the biggest fan of the interior seating area 4 stars, and it's not because I don't like pink. I do. The cafe is situated in a multi-use apartment complex, and shares space with a convenience store and restaurant. Inside, I experienced a lot of random traffic and loud talking coming from the restaurant side. Next time, I'll try the outdoor patio. read more

This is literally a HIDDEN Gem! A friend found this on yelp for us to meet and since I arrived first I was surprised it was part of a residential community but also I couldn't find the coffee shop based on my map. Before leaving the parking lot I had to call the place and ask where it is. Hiding in plain sight at the exit of the community inside the pizza place. Once in I loved the whole decor. A mini pink wonderland! The woman who helped us was super sweet and the mocha latte I ordered was delicious. Plenty of seating for an afternoon coffee date and cute seating outside with spots for IG opportunities. Can't go wrong to visit this spot! read more

Overview: Café made for Instagram pictures, super pink, more expensive, no prices on baked goods :( ---- My biggest gripe is that they have NO PRICES on any of their baked goods. And all of the items look so delicious so it's such a shame that you have to ask the price for each of them, it gets tedious and I'm sure it's annoying for the workers as well. ---- Chai Latte $7: - super cute - good level of sweetness and flavor - texture of the flower petals and rice paper butterfly is a little weird when you eat it but it's very beautiful ---- Notes: - many 2 seater tables inside and outside - the pink aesthetic is so fun - there's a plaza across the street with plenty of parking - service was great ---- Overall: You're basically paying for the aesthetics of the drink and the pinkness of the cafe. It's on the more expensive side, there's also no prices on any of their pastries and baked goods, (I asked how much their pistachio cake slice was and it is $8.50). Their drinks are good but if they had prices on their other items it would be perfect. read more
What a cute coffee place. Great customer service and great coffee. This place is good for catching up with friends or just having a nice cup of coffee. This coffee shop shares a pizza place and apartment complex. There is limited parking but definitely worth looking for parking and trying this place out. I can't wait to come back and try some of the pastries and a different coffee. read more

Lucca's Pizzeria and Market converted its extra space at The Promenade Rio Vista Apartments in Mission Valley to Kouklas Cafe. There was no outside signage yet which made this business a little difficult to find if you were a first timer. I had previously visited the pizzeria so it wasn't an issue. There were parking spaces in the loop to the complex which were all free for up to one hour. The pizzeria, market, and cafe are all open until 9 pm nightly. Pink was the theme with lots of flowers, cakes, and tea sets on display. The seating was rather limited with one long table and a few round tops on the inside. The adjacent narrow outdoor patio to the west had several more small tables. I came during the late morning so the breakfast menu screen was still being displayed. I imagine there's also a lunch/dinner menu, however I didn't see a hard copy of those offerings at the service counter. Various pastries and baked goods were on display at the counter. Twelve breakfast offerings were shown on the screen. To the right of that was a wall menu featuring the beverages... coffee, hot/cold tea, hot chocolate, smoothies. I picked the Eggs Your Way and a strawberry banana smoothie. The first was two eggs (sunny side up was my choice), turkey sausage, and crispy tater tots. The cashier asked if I wanted milk or juice for the base of my smoothie so I chose the latter. I sat inside and waited for my food and drink to be delivered. The smoothie was served in a glass with a butterfly made of rice paper added to the top. The blend was fruity and not diluted as I have experienced elsewhere. The Eggs Your Way took a bit of time to be prepared. The eggs were alright, but to my disappointment the tater tots were lukewarm and not crispy at all. The turkey sausage was two links sliced in half lengthwise. They could have used more time on the grill. Note that if you pay with a credit card, the prices will be boosted by 3.5% That was made very clear at the register. The service was spotty as there was no follow up after my plate was brought from the kitchen. Bussing of dirty tables was on the slow side as I watched another party ask for a table to be cleaned so they could sit down. I gave a four star rating for my dining experience at Kouklas Cafe. read more
A Hidden Gem That Delivers on Every Level! I recently visited this charming café, and I couldn't be more impressed. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was super cute and dispensing decor everywhere. We came for my mom's birthday brunch and we enjoyed a lot of the delicious items on the menu! The coffee was absolutely outstanding. Rich, smooth, and perfectly brewed. My latte had beautiful latte art that made it almost too pretty to drink. As for the food--wow. Every dish we ordered was fresh, thoughtfully presented, and full of flavor. We noted their famous shakshouka eggs dish! So flavorful. The avocado toast was delicious. We also ordered a couple of flat breads and wow the bread was so freshly made. Mary the owner made the whole experience feel personal and genuine. She's the sweetest lady and we loved her hospitality. It's rare to find a spot that nails both food and coffee, but this café does it effortlessly. Highly recommended--this will definitely become one of my go-to spots! read more
Kouklas is Greek meaning beautiful girls... Kouklas Cafe opened over a month ago. Located inside LUCCA Pizzeria in the Rio Vista Promenade in Mission Valley. One hour free parking if you're lucky to find one along the curve/driveway. The cafe occupies a fraction of the pizzeria and only the pizza shop has signage outside. Once inside, the small cafe seemed to make the best of their limited space. Decided with typical faux flowers throughout in hues of pink with limited seating indoor and outdoors...all quite feminine and lovely. Earlier in the day included some power shopping and a stop here post shopping was nice to take a few minutes to relax and have a cup of tea and a treat. The display cases were filled and arranged with appealing treats all visually tempting, but I selected the petit L'orange topped with a mini daisy. A perfect pairing was the matcha latte made with organic coconut milk, topped with crushed rose petals and an edible butterfly made with rice paper. At first, I was reluctant to have the butterfly added, because I'm not into having any insects on my food or drink. I was assured by the helpful owner, the butterfly was NOT a real one and so I was at ease. Once seeing the finished drink poured into a pink porcelain cup and saucer, J'Adore the contrast of the pink and green reminded Me of my hometown Beverly Hills' colors as green and pink ...love it!! The orange dessert tasted not too sugary sweet and small enough to be guiltless ;) but looked better than it tasted. Service needs improvement, no follow up from the staff to check if everything was ok, if they did, I would have order more to possibly eat there or take togo, but no follow up at all by the owner or staffer. No table service; I had to pick up my drink and take it to my table...if I had known it would be self service, I would NOT have tipped 20% !! No relaxing background music to add to the ambiance. No napkins provided, no service station for utensils. No water offered in the cafe area. The water was across the room in the pizzeria side and the water didn't seem fresh, my pup rejected it :( These are just some things that may be minuscule but it's the details that matter and earn my return or recommendation. Kouklas Cafe is probably the perfect place for those more interested in tea sets and selfies. The shop has lots of sweet treats, pastries, and shelves with porcelain cups, saucers, tea pots, wines and liqueurs perfectly for your next tea party with the beautiful girls or just for lovely you. read more

Super cute coffee shop. Hidden gem for sure. You'd miss it if you didn't know it was there. Has outdoor and indoor seating. The staff is very friendly. Earlier today I hosted an afternoon coffee/tea and dessert at this beautiful cafe. Pink was the theme and the owner Mary did such a lovely job decorating the cafe. She personally bakes fresh pastries every morning around 9am, so if you want fresh pastries like croissants and danishes, stop by the cafe at 10am and they are still warm from the oven! I ordered a Matcha Latte with oat milk and it was not only beautifully decorated, but it was made with high quality organic matcha powder and organic oat milk. I could taste the difference between Kouklas vs. other cafes that use the cheap stuff. Mary made beautiful edible butterflies out of rice paper and sprinkled edible dried rose pieces on top of the matcha latte and the result was a masterpiece. Honestly, it was too gorgeous to drink. The contrast between the green matcha color and the pink cup, butterflies, and rose pieces looked WOW! My friends all agreed that while all of our lattes were beautifully crafted, mine stood out as the most stunning. My friends ordered a variety of lattes and teas, almond croissant, pistachio cake, chocolate mouse cake, lemon cake, coconut cake, red velvet cake, and cookies. We were all extremely pleased with our coffees, teas, and desserts! Everything was beautiful and delicious! For all the goodies out there, this is a feast for your eyes and tummy! We had such a wonderful experience that started with the ambiance and pink decor, and then the friendly service, followed by the beautiful desserts and drinks that were a feast for our eyes and phones, and ended with very happy tummies! Note this cafe is still in its soft opening phase and the grand opening date is to be determined. If you have trouble locating it, it is in the same suite as Lucca's Pizzaria. The husband runs the Pizzaria while the wife runs the cafe on the opposite end of the suite. read more
Wow! This cafe is inside of Luccas Pizzeria market, and exceeded our expectations! Not only were all of the desserts and pastries beautiful to look at but they tasted so good! Our favorite was the pink pistachio dessert, and I also really liked the lemon cake which was a good balance of sweet and tart. The drinks can be made with the pretty pink butterfly decorations, which are made of rice paper, and they add a sprinkle of dried flowers. So cute and tasty! They can customize the milk you use, and the owner uses organic ingredients. Mary, the owner, was very welcoming and told us all about her cafe and and how she makes the pastries fresh every day. Her cakes are beautiful as well, and her and her husband also own the pizza place next door that is connected to the Cafe. They also do breakfast until 1pm which we had just missed bit will definitely be back to try. The Cafe is pretty and pink! Very cute floral decor and seating inside and out. There is a little market in the Cafe that also sells various items like tea, tea cups, candy, and many other items. After all of the treats we ate, we went next door for the pizza which was some of the best I've had. I highly recommend checking out this new place. read more

I came to visit this place while I was in San Diego and it's a beautiful place, I highly recommend. I ordered a French toast with a hot butterfly latte and it was delicious. Coffee is surprisingly beautiful presented. The service was great as well very friendly. read more
I didn't realize this little cafe was in the middle of this apartment complex, but once you know that you'll be able to find it easier :) as for parking-not sure if you're "supposed" to park in the spots there because like I said, it is an apartment complex....but I parked there and nothing happened! Now onto the cafe-it's share with a store, so there's lots to look at. I ordered a matcha latte. It was prepared beautifully. The taste was okay-the lady did tell me that the matcha taste wasn't very strong and advised to add a syrup, I added pistachio and it was really good after that! There is a great assortment of desserts to choose from. The key lime pie is highly recommended! It's a really cute spot, but very small. read more

My daughter and I drove down from North County for the "aesthetic." This cafe is located adjacent/attached to Lucca's Pizzeria. It was such a lovely afternoon. We had tea, iced chai and black teas, a cheesecake and the zaatar flatbread. Everything was (chef's kiss)! Thank you for wonderful service and experience. read more
