Tuna on croissant
Stanley R.

The family decided to brunch here last weekend. It is a street front breakfast/ brunch/lunch type spot with a health focused menu. There were plenty of flies on the sunny patio which was rather warm. We moved to the shade of the bar and I ordered a couple of Negronis for the girl and me. The gal behind the bar gave me a blank stare and told me she wasn't a bartender and I had to order at the counter but she would check. I never saw her again. No Negroni, no happy smile. The chicken salad croissant was okay the roast sweet potatoes were okay. Parking is a nightmare all day every day. They refused to put college football on the bar tv for me! We can all do better than this place!

Avocado Toast with egg

Really nice vibe at Molly's They were playing 70's music and it was a nice change from the average dance-thumping vibe of San Diego restaurants near the beach. I got the avocado toast which was really pretty. I had a scone as well which was very good. The first bite of a scone is everything...it shouldn't be like a biscuit but more like a large cookie with a soft texture inside and crunchy outside. Nice patio area and friendly service.

Breakfast Bowl - amazing!

Still my favorite spot in San Diego. I look forward to getting to come enjoy the food and coffee at Molly's whenever I'm in town. The menu has a lot to offer and they portions are wonderfully filling. The cold brew, lattes, iced coffee and hot coffee are really tasty as well. The cinnamon rolls are so hard to pass up, so if they have one, do not miss out! My all time favorite it still the Mission Beach Breakfast Bowl. It's filling and full of so many good things. The outdoor patio, indoor space or even upstairs - there isn't a bad seat in the house!

We had a large group, 11 of us, for brunch. We made a reservation a few weeks ago, needed to change the time and after 3 calls, 2 voicemails and an email, never got a hold of anyone. When we showed up at our original reservation time, we checked in and the girls at the counter seemed very confused that we had a reservation and just nonchalantly said "yeah we can do 11" and asked if we wanted a server or counter service. We figured 11 girls individually ordering counter service would be cumbersome for them, so we requested a server and headed upstairs to the rooftop area and the girl helping us put our tables together seemed a little annoyed to be helping us. Once we were sat, service was great. Very attentive, but on top of drinks, gave some off menu recommendations. She was great! I had the breakfast sandwich, which was bacon, egg, cheese, pickled onions, a harissa spread and I added avocado. It was huge and delicious! I also had an espresso martini which was perfectly balanced. Not too strong or too sweet. Most of the other ladies had the shashuka or breakfast sandwich and I didn't see too many plates with anything leftover so we all enjoyed our meals to say the least. The last thing to note is the view. If you can snag a rooftop spot, I highly recommend as the view is just so much better up top. Oh, and definitely start with a cinnamon roll, they're heavenly!

Waffle with syrup, whipped cream and fresh fruit (blackberries and strawberries)

Best turkey sandwich. Get the turkey sandwich. Okay other stuff... sandwich comes with a side and you should get the cauliflower salad to go with it. It's a big place with multiple indoor/outdoor seating options. Cute. We ate there every morning for breakfast because it's the best option nearby and opens early. It has baked goods, all do the coffee options, a full bar that opens later in the day, and good prepared meals. Didn't like the waffle as much as I thought I would, maybe 4 or 5 on the star scale. The fruit, whipped cream, and syrup for it were solid. My friends tried chai bowls, fresh fruit, banana bread, breakfast burritos, and other pastries if not enjoying the (delicious!!!) turkey sandwich. I did find myself wishing there were fresh juice options. A fresh OJ or green juice would have hit the spot and I couldn't find plain fresh squeezed I the area. All and all, super delighted by this find and scores a 5.

Egg White Frittata

I am very impressed by the breakfast here. I ordered the Egg White Frittata. It was delicious and felt very light. I also got the matcha with vanilla and caramel and it was made perfectly. Service was good. You order from the counter in the back and pick a seat. Tad bit confusing when you first walk in since they are located in the back and no one was at the bar to greet you. The ambiance is very beach bohemian vibe. Loved the patio upstairs. And plenty of seating downstairs inside and out on a shaded patio. No beach views but nice little walk to the actual beach. Parking was pretty easy as it's a week day in the AM.

Blueberry Lemon Muffin

This was a café that had a rooftop patio along with other outdoor seating available too. They had a number of baked goods to choose from and a few brunch items as well as a bar. The staff was patient as we took some time to order at the counter. I had a blueberry lemon muffin ($4.75?). It was unreal. I am not a big fan of muffins, but this was very tasty. There was a lemon curd filling and a crumble on top. It was a nice compliment, and it was well apparent that it was fresh based on the feel, smell, and look. Will I go back? Easily.

Stopped here for breakfast and ordered the Mission Brunch Breakfast bowl and it was so amazing! My husband ordered a breakfast sandwich and the croissant was to die for! Definitely will be back! Nice cozy place with great adult beverages and coffee. Taylor and Macy were so bubbly and amazing!

Stopped here during our bike ride around Mission. Cute spot with a nice large patio, which is mostly shaded. Got the shakshouka, tuna salad, broccoli salad, cauliflower, and Belgian waffle. Shakshouka was really good. Had a bit of kick to it. I added the bacon and was happy to see a giant slab of pork. The focaccia was nice and fresh, light. Tuna salad came in a nice buttery croissant. Nicely made and not dry like other places. As far as the sides, I'd skip the broccoli salad. Flavor was flat. Opt for the cauliflower instead. Belgian waffle was a Belgian waffle. Well made and simple. Cute spot to stop for breakfast, lunch.

The Rooftop

We went to Molly's for brunch on the 4th of July before heading to the beach, and it was a great start to the day. When we arrived, the host offered inside, outside, or upstairs seating -- but didn't mention that upstairs is actually a rooftop! Definitely go for the rooftop if you can. We enjoyed singing along to the country throwbacks they had playing and were surprised the host didn't encourage us the check out the rooftop (instead of just upstairs seating). We tried a Bloody Mary (which came out quickly, with a mini grilled cheese and bacon garnish -- so good!) and an espresso mojito. I was a little unsure about the mojito being too sweet, but it was balanced and had great flavor. Our food came out fast. We ordered the paleo bowl and the breakfast burrito. The paleo bowl was super filling, and I was especially impressed with the tuna salad. The burrito was flavorful and unique -- definitely recommend both. Our server Turner was fantastic -- really attentive and made a great Bloody Mary. Note: The tuna has onions (I enjoyed but it doesn't say it on the menu)

Egg, bacon and cheese sandwich.

First time visiting, we were going to just order to go but decided to sit at the bar and enjoy the vibe. We had expected the place to be packed for brunch, but we were able to grab a couple of seats at the bar with the coolest bartender. She made the meanest loaded bloody mary and took good care of us. We chose this place for the egg sandwich, we substituted sourdough bread for the croissant, loaded with bacon - so delicious. There were football games going on the TVs. What a great time.

Don't order absolutely awful
Jessica J.

Great coffee, solid pastries, ok service, nah on the breakfast. The egg white "frittata" was like ground up broccoli and spinach no eggs no cheese and no flavor. The avacado toast was not like packaged "guac" with so freshness on top (which is what saved it) but the bread wasn't toasted and without the tomato and egg it would have been awful. The coffees were great from the salted cold from to the vanilla cinnamon. The lemon blueberry muffin was a nice tart muffin just the perfect addition of sweetness.

As soon as you walk in you're greeted by the friendly bar tender, and are instructed to take a seat anywhere you'd like. The menu is available via QR code, and you order both your food and drinks at the bar. At the time we came in there weren't many people, but a crowd started gathering after about 30 minutes or so, which was nice! Our food came out - with a decent amount of wait time - and it looked great! We ordered a couple of cocktails from the menu as well, which we got right away. I had gotten something similar to an Espresso Martini, but the drink fell short in both the taste and the presentation. My beer battered fish tacos were good, but nothing extraordinary. I believed they lacked a bit of taste...perhaps seasoning? The jam burger on the other hand, extremely juicy and flavorful! The fries were nice and crispy & seasoned. Overall, the food and drink were a bit inconsistent, but it may also very well be the items I ordered. For that, I'm docking it one star, but again it may come down to my taste buds and previous items I've had from other grills. I'd definitely give it a try, again, and keep exploring their menu.

Onion rings were ok. Nothing to rave about honestly. The seasoning on it made them seem nicer but I think it just took away from a good ol fashioned onion rings, they also added a seasoning to the ranch to pair with the onion ring and I wasn't a huge fan. Next time I definitely want to try a different burger and opt for the elote fries or no fries at all. I'm just happy to finally be able to cross this place off my list of must tries, lol. Everything is fresh, cooked to perfection, and explained very well when brought to the table. I forgot the name of the burger I tried, but it was chicken based that was like a curry infused (it was yellow) and I thought it was a nice edition to the menu. Side note, you might want to wear gloves or eat with knife and fork as you'll be using a lot of napkins for sure (haha) I will continue to show the love for this place and enjoy this as one of my "special treat meals". They apparently have happy hour all day on Sundays. I tried the peach mocktail and it was very yummy, so I appreciated the $5 off. For dinner, I ordered the branzino (the one on the menu and not the special). I was told while the one on the normal menu was $47, the special was $55 and the only difference between the two was the special would be lit on fire table side. I didn't feel the flames were necessary, so I skipped that. (However, the special did mention a sauce that I'm not sure was actually on the regular one, so I don't actually know.) A few minutes before the food came out, they asked if we wanted it all together or if it would be ok for my husband and our friends food to come out first since they were still finishing my fish. I said to just bring it out when it was ready, however they ended up bringing it out together anyway. The confusing part though, all of our meals weren't served warm? You'd think if they were waiting on mine to be done it would have been at least warm? It wasn't. The branzio was very plainly seasoned, tasted heavily of oil and was also somewhat dry? I got it with the whipped sweet potatoes, which was very creamy, which was unlike any way I've ever had sweet potatoes before, but they didn't taste particularly good? We each tried them and none of us could figure out what it was like, but we all agreed we didn't enjoy them. My husband got the arrecherea, it was fine, but also cold. The fries it came with was probably the best part, they were crispy even while being cold. Our friend got the stuffed Mediterranean Stuffed Pepper, his meal also wasn't warm, and he said some of the rice wasn't cooked all the way and it was hard. We also got the Puccia Bread & Spreads after seeing positive reviews. I normally love feta cheese, but the feta dip was kind of sweet? Same with the eggplant. The only spread that was good was the butter. Personally, I thought the bread was fine? But it was almost a bit doughy. Overall, we weren't very impressed with the meal. It had a lot of potential, but the food just didn't hit the mark.

I was already leaning toward what I ordered, and he reassured me I was making a great choice. His knowledge of the menu and genuine hospitality made the experience even better. The lobster and shrimp roll was hands down the best I've had in years. The mahi slider was just as impressive--perfectly seasoned, lightly breaded, and fried to perfection without the excessive batter that so many places use. Every bite let the fresh fish shine through. The atmosphere was exactly what you'd want from a beach bar--laid-back, welcoming, and fun. It felt like the kind of place where you could spend the day at the beach, walk over for a drink and some amazing food, and just relax. The entertainment setup was impressive too, with huge TVs and a really cool in-wall fireplace-style display. I can only imagine this place is the spot to be on game day.
