    chicken tortilla soup $8.75

Hey-these guys are open late or should I say early (2 am!). Thank you for providing drinks and food after 9pm when other establishments didn't have chow in the area. I really liked the chicken tortilla soup. Staff was crazy fun.

Wow--another great find in Mission Beach! The server (who was also the bartender) was incredibly friendly and helpful. We stopped by in that in-between time after lunch and before happy hour, and it ended up being the perfect moment to visit. The drinks were delicious--so much so that we were tempted to order more, but since we were bar-hopping for the rest of the evening, we had to pace ourselves. We're definitely looking forward to trying more of their cocktails next time. The queso was one of the best I've had in town, the homemade chips had just the right amount of salt, and the taco was equally delicious. All in all, a fantastic spot--and we can't wait to go back and sample even more.

Guava has some of the best local bar food in the area. Everything is fresh, flavorful, and consistently good. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and Mel the bartender is fantastic -- friendly, attentive, and really makes the place feel like a true neighborhood spot. Definitely one of my go-to places. Highly recommend.

First I want to say that the staff here is great! They were super welcoming and accommodating. Decor is beachy and laid back. They had a huge TV for sports and a few smaller ones near the bar. We had been traveling all day and I was ready for a DRANK. I asked if it was still HH and was told it ended at 6pm. Just missed it but NBD. I ordered a Paloma. The waitress asked if I wanted Paloma Margarita? I said no, just a regular Paloma. What I got came in a margarita glass and either was not a Paloma or the worst one ever. Like I said I was ready for a DRANK and couldn't take more than a sip. I thought maybe the waitress would notice my drink went untouched and would ask if it was okay, but she didn't and that's fine. I wasn't looking to complain but would have appreciated being offered something different. We ordered the ceviche, which was a huge portion packed with fish and delicious, but SPICY. My friend loved it. I had a couple bites but it was too spicy for me. We also ordered the Coconut Shrimp. The shrimp were huge and beautiful but it was like they breaded and fried cooked shrimp? Idk how to explain it but the shrimp looked like it belonged in a shrimp cocktail and the breading didn't really stick to it. It was okay, but I wouldn't reorder it. For my entree I ordered a cheese burger. After she walked away I thought it was odd she didn't ask how I wanted it cooked. I prefer my burger medium well but thought it'll be fine. It was raw inside. I couldn't even eat it. The meat was so cold my cheese didn't even melt so I had a raw burger with cold cheese. Yuck. The waffle fries were hot and delicious! Maybe we just ordered the wrong thing? Idk I feel like a burger at a bar and grill is a standard but this missed the mark. The waitress never asked if my food was okay or I would have mentioned it, but that's fine. Again I was not looking to complain or anything I just wanted a good meal and strong drink after traveling all day and to kick off my vacation.

Good ass burger and smash burger they really took care of us. I think this place deserves five stars. Goodbye good environment. Good owner.

Super chill place..... came after the World Cup... 5 stars. Good owner, good vibes hell yeah #go USA

Kelly was an energetic and great server. We had a nice dinner here while staying in the area. There are multiple TVs going inside with sports going. We sat inside on a comfortable booth, this a casual place. Music is blasting and the servers are all friendly. We got the warm chips with great queso, salsa and guacamole. My kale and quinoa salad with grilled chicken was delicious! The salad had so much flavor and chicken added a nice touch. It was a few strips of flavorful and moist white meat. The chicken tenders were a little over done but fine. We will return if ever in the area.

I rarely visit the beach, but if I do visit PB, this is a good stop. I'd recommend this as a stop for any friends visiting that want to go to the beach. The happy hour is ideal, because beach prices can be tough. Food is great, drinks are cold, and the staff is friendly!

This is a must stop if you are in Mission Beach. It's the best blend of casual and delicious dining. Sarah, our server, was attentive and so helpful. If you come here make sure to get the Mahi Mahi plate- it had the best coconut rice and the fish was flaky and delicious. My friend also highly recommended the veggie tacos. So far this has been our favorite restaurant from our visit to San Diego!

Swing by every time we visit. Can't beat the Guava-Rita margaritas. Also had some chips and queso dip. Super friendly staff, Sidewalk seating available as well as indoors. Fun ambiance. All the games on big screen TVs. Highly recommend!

Good service , good food and a very homey feel to this bar restaurant. We had fajitas and tacos with a trio of salsa, guac, and queso with chips. All in all very tasty. The steak being my fav. Nothing like good Mexican food and a cold beer to make your day.

First time visit with my boyfriend. We came in on a Saturday around 1:30 pm, so it was a little busy but not too bad. Regardless, it's very possible they were understaffed, it took about 45 minutes to get our food. Based on their suggestion we ordered the Lobster and Shrimp roll to share, and it was super disappointing to be honest, especially after waiting so long. I would avoid this dish because it was pretty much all shrimp and hardly any sauce. Stick with a classic Mexican dish and I'm sure it will be a better experience. The waffle fries, and (huge) Pink Dragon margarita was delish tho! And the staff were still very friendly. I've heard great things about the fajitas, trying this next if we return.

I've never in my life had a better server than Ben. He was amazing had great suggestions and did not miss on one thing. Best experience I've ever had with a server hands down!!!! All the food was very good loved the chips and Queso. The drinks were cold perfect for a night on mission beach!! Highly recommend!!

Recommended for the atmosphere, drinks and service! The mango margarita was great! The service was attentive and quick! The food was presented well and sitting outside was great! There is ample seating inside and out for larger groups as well! The big fish tank with an adorable pufferfish was fun to see and the music was on point. The food was fine. Mozzarella sticks were ok, coconut crusted mahi mahi sandwich was fishy but the sweet bun was yummy as well as the tots. The blackened shrimp taco was fine and the kicken chicken sandwich adequate to good. The onion rings were very bready. If you are looking for a cool hang out for drinks with friends I would visit again.

Great recommendations, super genuine and fun, had the best energy and was CONSTANTLY checking in on us; however, a couple of the other workers could have been a little bit more open with communication. We were sitting against the window at the high top wraparound bar tables (feels like an extension of the bar), so the bar is easy to order from and was our go to as soon as we arrived. The bartender took our order, but was standoffish as if we were doing something foreign or a big "no no". Finally the server in charge of our area told us that the bartenders are in charge of the bar and there are other servers for all the other tables/zones. Our bartender Mike was great, and may Mai Thai ($14) defiantly did what it needed to do. It was sweet, strong and served with the cutest bear-shaped glass with a beautiful purple flower on top. One drink had a girl feeling tipsy. We ordered from the late-night "midnight Bites" menu, which was the only thing we could choose from at the hour of our visit. Everything we selected was really good. Wed got the Frito Pie ($12), Chicken thigh tenders ($7), and Tots ($7). The frito pie presentation was my second favorite part (after the bear glass drink), It came in a all-clad style bowl with the chip bag cut open inside, loaded with Texas-style chilli, melted nacho cheese, and shredded cheese. It was so good I even started adding tots in there too. The tots and Thigh tenders had the perfect crisp! They have sweet and sour chili sauce for dipping with the chicken which was fab! The retro decor made the place even better. I loved seeing the old Blockbuster VHS tapes and music cassettes displayed around the bar. My little eye also spot the Dallas Cowboys flag! Texas energy is definitely in the house. There's also a small arcade area in the back, and my eyes instantly lit up seeing PAC-Man. We didn't get to fully explore the game room because we were trying to make it to Ghirardelli Ice cream & Chocolate shop for dessert before they closed at midnight too. Thankfully everything worked out perfectly since our car was parked right in front of Ghirardelli. NO military discount was honored here even though the owner is a veteran, but overall I still had a really good experience and would definitely come back whenever I'm in the Gaslamp district in SD, Cali. (Oops posted it on a smoke shop in Texas. This review was meant to be shared here) Update: Response to owner: Joe V. That was the best response from any owner I have ever received!!!
