Angie was my bartender. She was super attentive. Asked what I needed right away. I think everyone hates waiting. Luckily I didn't have to lol It's a big area with a lot of tvs. Right in the heart of north park across the street from the parking garage. So you won't have any issue getting here. People watching is also key here lol. The food is fast to come out which we all appreciate. Is a good space with lots of daylight. It has that open San Diego bar feel that everyone likes.

True North is a True Testament to Dive/Sport bar culture in a sea of gimmicks, novelties, and aesthetic. It's simple yet reliable, as a True Tavern should be. With affordable drink options for the common bargoer, to various tvs and comfortable seating options for any sporting event. As for food, they're one of the rare venues that allow for outside food from nearby venues - allowing for an established sense of community from a reliable source.

It's always a great place to grab a drink. You'll have to order food next door but the vibes are great and the music, if they aren't blasting sports, is great too.

We stopped by for a group outing at True North! It was my first time here and was nervous when I heard it was in north park because parking is always a challenge! Luckily there is a parking structure right across the street that is a life savor! It is a very spacious bar ! We sat down and we were asked for drinks almost immediately and explained happy hour. We ordered the Slider Burgers with Fries , Nachos and Mac & Cheese and tacos . Everything was 10/10! I was soo impressed especially being from a bar! The Mac & cheese was my favorite ! The drinks were great and our server was awesome ! We will definetly be returning ! And highly recommend !

Nice place for a drink and to watch a game, but it ended there for us. Busy afternoon as the music festival was in full swing. First round, great no problem, very professional friendly bartender. Second round, served by a gentleman, assumed was a manager as he looked like he was jumping in to help. Asked for 2 vodka drinks (call brand) and watched him heavy pour one drink and miss the second one completely. Thought it was my mistake and took our drinks back to the table, took one tiny sip of mine realized I was right, brought it back to the bar. I told him that he missed the pour and he started arguing with me saying that I saw him do it right in front of him. I brought him back a full glass. Continued to argue with me, so I canceled our order and told him we would just take out check. Attitude changed, offered to replace my drink. We finished and as I was returning to the bar to pay our bill, I watched him say something to another bartender, who looked over to identify me, and proceeded to serve every customer around me, as I waited to close the tab. Too bad, but it is safe to say, as I am not a young guy looking for a free drink, we will spend our $$ somewhere else.

I think I found my spot for Sunday NFL food. Tons of Teats, tons of drinks, and lots of food !! I got the Diablo burger and made it a double ! Also my wife got the carne asada Mac n cheese which she loved. We shared the Buffalo wings and siracha wings and I think those are a must try !!! Definitely coming back here ! Our waitress was amazing and was so helpful. Great atmosphere! Follow me on Instagram, YouTube, and Tiktok for more delicious food @cerogrubs !

Came here Saturday night to watch the UFC fight , Sterling vs O'Malley . It was a $10 cover to enter , which wasn't that bad . Got lucky and found setting . It did take a while for the server to come by. We ordered chicken wings , Brussels sprouts and seared mahi . All 3 dishes we're total miss, not good at all. How can you kiss up Brussels sprouts ?! You can see by the picture it was way under cooked. However, in the beginning the server was better at getting our drinks. Towards the end of the night , she was no where to be found. We had to walk all the way over to the bar to close out . They need to be careful because people could easily walk out. Overall, come for drinks not so much food.

Fun Saturday vibes... good DJ... good bartenders... margarita is legit. Clutch sports and fights on every TV. Not sure what all the negative press is about. I've been to a dozen bars or so here in North Park and this is on par.

Popped in for a quick beverage and to check the score of the Padres game between errands today. Ordered 2 drinks off the HH menu (1 draft at $5 and a glass of wine at $6). When the bill came they changed us for 4 drinks. When we pointed out the error, the waitress seemed annoyed, but eventually came back with a new bill... and the new bill STILL had the wrong prices! They charged us $5 for the beer and $8 for the wine. We didn't bother arguing a second time... but seriously?? Do better.

Ask the Community - True North Tavern

Do they have patio/outside seating?

Hi Tere! Yes we have 3 patios to choose from. Thanks and hope to see you soon!

What time do you open during nfl football Sunday's?

Hi Phillip, True North will open at 9am on Sunday during football season.

Hi You guys showing the pacquiao fight this Saturday ? July 20th

Absolutely! Hope to see you here.

Is there an age limit to get into TN before the DJ starts on weekends? If so....When is it too late to be there if someone is under 21?

Liquor license requires everyone to be 21+ at all times. We do love celebrating everyone's 21st birthday though!

We came on a day that was quite sweltering hot and they do have large fans that kind of helped. The food that you order comes out and quite generous portion sizes! And several of the hot plates are definitely piping hot when they arrive! My friend got the Spicy Rita drink which was refreshing like Agua Fresca. Its base is Watermelon juice. She also ordered the Dutch pancake was delicious like custard and flan. It appears like a Thin layer crepe but fluffy filling on a hot skillet. Crumpets are kinda like an English muffin sliced with side of butter and two berry jams. Fresh hot tasty and crunchy. Not crumbly or dry. Short rib crumpet was like this delicious breakfast sandwich with thin sliced short rib well marinated! Service was awesome. Dog friendly patio and they offered our sweet Rosie some water, and scrambled eggs if desired. Awww My favorite was The Galaxy lavender lemonade. It was not too citrus heavy and you actually get a delicate infusion of lavender. It comes in a kettle shaped pitcher you can share among friend in cute little shot-sized glass cups. I tried the strawberry salad since I wanted something light and cold on a faltering hot day. Again portions were very generous. Staff was very friendly and checked on us frequently. I'm curious to try the happy hour wings at a different time. We came here for brunch and it was great despite the hot weather. Would love to try their food at different meal times.

It looks like they have more seating outside than inside. - There's a variety of brunch items that are not your typical brunch items! We ordered shrimp corncake and short rib omelet. The omelet came in a little personal skillet. Very cute food presentation! - Service was nothing to write about, but not in a bad way! We didn't really interact with our server much. Cons: - The ceiling fan was crazy intense. Pretty fair considering it was hot, but I kind of wished that we were seated inside instead with AC. - Shrimp corncake needed some crunch IMO. I'm curious to try to try the other food items and it seems that people like this place for HH.

We were in the area looking for a brunch spot and striking out, and everyone was getting to the "we…read moreneed food NOW" stage, so we ended up at Common Stock. When we sat down, we were a little surprised that the brunch menu was pretty limited compared to the photos that originally caught our attention. I'm guessing those were from the dinner menu. Our server was actually so great about it--he told us to take our time looking it over and that if we weren't excited about anything, we were welcome to leave and he wouldn't take it personally. That honestly won us over. Even our kids were impressed by how straightforward and nice he was and decided we should stay. And I'm glad we did. The Crispy Brussels were delicious--seriously, one of the highlights. My daughter loved the Strawberry Shortcake French Toast. My son liked the Japanese Potato Hash, although he wished there was another way to add more protein besides bacon. I had the Hot Chicken + Waffle and really enjoyed it, and my husband had the Nashville Crispy Chicken Sandwich. The food took a little longer than expected, but the service more than made up for it. Our server was genuinely kind, honest, and attentive, which can make such a difference. We came in mostly because we were hungry and running out of options, but left really happy we gave Common Stock a chance. Great food and, more importantly, really great service.

Our server was friendly and answered our questions, we had no complaints there. However the menu was very limited and the food was okay. We may have had to do more research but it didn't seem very family or kid friendly (menu wise). We ended up getting the pizza rolls, rotisserie chicken, crispy Brussels and chicken sandwich. The pizza rolls I was picturing something like a Totino's pizza roll or a savory cinnamon roll, so I asked about it and our server described it similar to an "empanada". It ended up being closer to a wonton than anything. It wasn't bad but was fairly oily. Wouldn't order again. The rotisserie chicken was really good and I liked the sauce it came with. The chicken was pretty tender as well. The chicken sandwich was okay. There was a lot of mayo/creamy sauce. Combined with the fried chicken it felt a bit heavy. The bun was really good though. We really liked the Brussels sprouts. It has a great citrusy taste and was cooked well.

Great recommendation! Absolutely delicious!!! I felt reallly good after eating it, and I am sensitive to certain breads and cheese. And I got a Shirley temple to go from the bar and they don't use regular grenadine, but some other delicious syrup that is so much more flavorful and not full of red dye 40. Only thing I would suggest for anyone coming is to know the sign on the building is hard to see, so you will see the Chinese restaurant sign, that is basically where you are looking to go. The BBQ bacon burger was good, but the bacon wasn't crispy--it was very thick and more like a slice of ham. It was okay, but I would have preferred traditional crispy bacon. The Greek burger was also good, but not quite great. However, the boys' basic cheeseburgers were amazing! We would definitely come back just for a basic burger. The fries were also amazing--definitely a highlight of the meal. They have a great selection of beer and alcohol, and I tried the watermelon drink, which had a spicy kick and was absolutely delicious. Overall, a solid spot with great fries, drinks, and burgers.
