    All-American Classic char-grilled burger
    Cory S.

I was visiting Coronado with my wife as she had a work conference, and I was on vacation. I was feeling like getting away from my hotel to find some local food, and I walked by Nicky Rottens and thought a burger sounded right up my alley for lunch that day. The menu consists of appetizers, entree salads, big plates, char-grilled burgers, a lil champs menu, cocktails, draft beer, wine, and cans and bottles. I kept it simple as I ordered a char-grilled burger called the All-American Classic, consisting of two prime patties, seasoned with Nicky's steakhouse rub and grilled. It came with Patriotic cheese, lettuce, chopped onion, tomato, pickle, and special sauce along with a side of French fries. The special sauce was similar to a thousand island dressing, and I had that on the side. The burger was very filling and delicious along with French fries that I couldn't stop eating (until I ran out). Yum!! The staff were very friendly and helpful during my time there. I learned that Nicky Rottens considers itself to be "Coronado's Original Spot for Great Food, Good Times, and Local Flavor." It is a family-owned bar and grill right on Orange Avenue with tasty food, reasonable prices, and great service. They also consider themselves to be a "community hub grounded in American values, hard work, and a love for good food and even better company." While I went to Nicky Rottens on my own, I could see the sense of community there and certainly got some good food and service. They are open daily at 11 AM closing Sunday through Thursday at 9:30 PM and Friday and Saturday at 10 PM. I didn't notice until after I left that they even have a dog-friendly outdoor patio. They also offer catering, reservations, menus, information about private events, and an online shop all on their website (https://www.nickyrottensoncoronado.com). While I'm not on Coronado too often, I will certainly remember Nicky Rottens for my next visit!

Come to watch sports and drink beer, not to eat with any expectations. They Jamaican jerk burger tasted NOTHING like Jamaican jerk. The smash burger was not a smash burger by definition. SO MUCH (too much) cheese on both. The patties are so small. The buns are stiff and flat. The ribs and wings had so much sauce on them, we had to scrape most of it off. Good beer options and lots of TVs inside.

Nicky Rottens Bar & Burger Joint in Coronado is a fantastic spot for anyone looking for great food, cold beer, and an unbeatable view. Located right on Orange Avenue, this lively sports bar offers a casual and inviting atmosphere, perfect for a laid-back meal or catching a game with friends. The place has a fun, upbeat vibe, with TVs everywhere playing sports, making it a great hangout spot. The staff is friendly and efficient, even when the place gets busy. The beer selection is solid, featuring a mix of local craft brews and popular favorites. The Bac-Avo Burger is another standout, featuring a perfectly cooked patty with crispy bacon and avocado. The portions are generous, and the fries are the perfect side. Fish n chips was another hit. I love the lightly battered fish and crispy fries. I advise you get there early to find parking or you can take the ferry from Downtown San Diego. Whether you're here for a burger, a few drinks, or just to soak in the atmosphere, you won't be disappointed. My hubby and I will be returning and this time for their happy hour Thank you!!!!

Great spot in Coronado for a little hair of the dog after a busy night out in San Diego. My Michelada here was pretty tasty. I love that they use the cutwater Bloody Mary mix. It's so good!

Solid spot for a quick lunch in Coronado. It was easy for 7 of us to get in on a Saturday. Great drink and food menu. We started off with fried pickles, most of us got the Burger with Avocado, my brother did a BYO with bacon and an egg, and we also tried the fried shrimp plate. Will be coming back here when we come to Coronado again!

Great spot to grab a couple drinks with friends and have a nice view of the city. I ordered the Bad A** Chicken Sandwich with sweet potatoes fries. The sandwich was delicious. The serving size was huge. I ordered a margarita and that was also good. The first one was a lot better than the second. The second was a little more on the margarita mix side. The dining area is pretty big. Lots of seating. They also have a ton to TVs so multiple Games on at the same time. Service was good. Street Parking or there was a public lot a block down.

Came with the family and got wings, burgers, and salads! Best burgers in town! Love how soft the burger buns are and everything tasted so good! We come every time we are on this side of the bridge! Loud ambience and big groups of people, a fun time! Highly recommend the wings, do half buffalo-half bbq sauce best wings here! And not usually a bbq wing fan but their bbq sauce is too good to pass up!

This was taken after I asked them to cook the steak more.

Our visit to Nicky Rottens was a huge bummer. I ordered the nachos because they looked so good on here and the reviews were awesome. When they came out it looked nothing like the pictures. The steak was really undercooked and looked like it had been sitting out a while. It was in big slices too so I had to ask for a plate so I could cut it up. I asked them to cook the steak more and they did. There was no sour cream or guacamole on the nachos. When I asked for it on the side they said they don't even have sour cream. The queso and salsa that it came with left the chips really soggy and watery. They were not good at all. My husband ordered a cob salad and added chicken for $8. When it came out it was almost half the size of what they used to serve. It was a $30 salad after adding the chicken. When we asked why all the food was different, they said they changed the menu 3 weeks ago to cut down on food waste. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because my daughter liked her chicken tenders and the service was fine. Our dinner ended up costing over $100 after tip. We didn't even get any drinks besides water or desserts. Such a waste of money. I would not go back here again.

I came to Nicky Rottens and ordered the Mai Tai along with the smash burger and tater tots -- and wow, everything was on point! The smash burger was sooo freakin' good -- super juicy with perfectly melted cheese. The tater tots were crispy and cooked to perfection. And the Mai Tai? Perfectly balanced, just the right amount of alcohol, a little sweet, and honestly one of my favorites I've had. I loved everything. Definitely a 10/10 experience! Customer service was top notch!!!

Helpful and friendly service for our very large party. We had appetizers and drinks and one person ordered food The fries were so good! They tasted battered. Sports bar meets ocean cafe, albeit very large. Reasonable prices for Coronado too.

I've been here twice now. I started with a mocktail and hubby got a beer. I ordered the famous rotten burger and hubby opted for the jalapeño burger. Their burgers are huge and loaded! It comes with fries, so I upgraded to the garlic fries and it was great. I love their carne asada fries too! They are nicely seasoned and they don't skimp on the meat. The onion rings were so crispy! The first time I sat outside, so service was a bit slow and we weren't checked up on enough. I wanted dessert, but didn't want to wait 30 minutes for it. The second time I went here, we sat inside and service was more attentive. We ordered mocktails and mine was so refreshing. The cheese sticks were piping hot too. I wanted to try their grilled hot pastrami sandwich this time and it was very flavorful. I forgot to add garlic to my fries, so these were okay lol. My friend got a mushroom burger and a side of onion rings. For dessert, we shared the cookie bomb, which was pretty good, but had too much whipped cream for me. Overall, a solid place to get some grub.

We were there for the Padres vs. Cubs matchup, and the energy in the bar was incredible. This place is definitely a Padres bar -- the crowd was hyped, the vibes were great, and it felt like watching the game inside the stadium. I ordered the Dragon Mule, and it was excellent -- smooth, refreshing, and perfectly balanced. For food, I got the nachos with queso, and they were seriously good. The chips were crispy, the queso was rich and flavorful, and the toppings were stacked. I also had the buffalo wings, and they were tender, saucy, and packed with flavor. What made the night even better was the atmosphere. They had a DJ, giveaways, and raffles going on during the game, which made it feel like a full event, not just dinner. I actually won a raffle, which made the whole experience even more fun. If you want a lively spot with great drinks, good food, and the best game-day atmosphere -- especially for Padres fans -- Tom's Watch Bar is a must. I'll definitely be coming back.

They have tons of seating, both indoor and outdoor, and lots of huge tvs! A great spot for a padres pregame. Food: we ordered the honey bbq wings to start and they were decent. Unfortunately, they don't har any dry rubs for wings. For entrees, I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich, my husband ordered the grilled chicken avocado salad, and we got the kids Mac and cheese for our son. The chicken sandwich was ok, but I felt could've used some more seasoning or sauce. The giant lettuce pieces were somewhat overpowering the sandwich. The fries were just ok and actually slightly disappointing. Looked like frozen fries from a bag. My husband wasn't impressed with his salad. It was very lettuce heavy, not enough toppings, and he didn't feel the avocado or tomato were fresh. The kids Mac and cheese was small, but very cheesy and creamy. It came with a small side of fries. Service: service was pretty bad for the place being mostly empty with two servers. My husband had to go to the bar twice to ask for something because our server was not around. One of which was asking for a half cup of water with no ice and the bartender had to go and find the server to have her bring it to us...why couldn't the bartender support this simple ask? We were the brought two full glasses of ice water...we were waiting forever before getting our check (second time having to go walk around looking for our server). She didn't come back to check on us when we had empty glasses either.

When I entered the restaurant around 7:00 PM, I was stopped and questioned extensively by security regarding my service animal. Rather than being asked the limited ADA-compliant questions permitted by law, the interaction became prolonged and uncomfortable while staff repeatedly attempted to determine whether my dog was a "real" service animal or simply an emotional support animal. I remained waiting at the entrance while this was repeatedly discussed back and forth. What made the situation especially humiliating was that another patron openly laughed at me during the interaction while walking outside for a cigarette. I later realized this same patron had her own dog inside the establishment in a stroller the entire time. Staff members appeared very familiar and comfortable with her, and multiple employees, including my waitress- referred to her as a "regular." Although her dog was eventually moved to the patio area, the contrast in how the situations were handled made me feel singled out, embarrassed, and unfairly scrutinized. I later spoke with management in hopes of resolving the matter respectfully. During that conversation, I was surprised and concerned to hear that neither management nor staff were familiar with psychiatric service animals or their protections under the ADA. Psychiatric service animals are legally recognized service animals when trained to perform disability-related tasks, and this lack of awareness was deeply concerning, especially in a city like San Diego with a large disabled and veteran community. I fully understand that businesses are allowed to ask limited ADA-compliant questions regarding service animals, and I also understand that many establishments have dealt with individuals falsely claiming pets as service animals. However, there is a significant difference between appropriately verifying a service animal and making a disabled customer feel publicly interrogated and humiliated. The overall handling of this interaction lacked professionalism, sensitivity, and basic understanding of ADA service animal protections. No customer should feel mocked, scrutinized, or publicly embarrassed simply for entering a restaurant with a legitimate service animal. I sincerely hope this situation can serve as an opportunity for additional ADA education and proper service animal training for staff moving forward so that other disabled guests do not experience similar treatment. I would appreciate being informed of any steps the restaurant intends to take regarding ADA compliance and staff training before I determine how I would like to proceed further. Thank you for your time and attention.
