My first visit was for open mic comedy. I ordered a patty melt which came with hand cut fries. It was pretty good, although the onions were described as caramelized but were just lightly grilled. Probably delicious for true onion lovers but I pulled most of them off. The cheesy patty on rye bread was still delicious, and there were more fries than I could eat. Not much of a crowd except for the comics themselves, maybe 10-12 with a very entertaining host in between. All were good but many were hilarious including a first-timer. Fun vibe for sure, I would happily go again. I deducted one star because as a new guest, I asked the bartender if they had any special house cocktails. She seemed to hear the word special and thought I meant cheap. I said not necessarily cheap, but do you have any interesting house cocktails here. She said no, so I ordered something boring. Then I got the food menu which on the back had an entire list of house cocktails. But service overall was excellent. read more

No Bartender! Friday afternoon about 4:30PM. I have been going to the Scoreboard for over 20 years now with no previous issues. This particular occasion, myself and another patron sat down at the bar and waited....and waited...and..... Finally I asked the cook if there was a bartender. He told me "no bartender. the bar is closed for an hour". Now wouldnt you think that IF the bar was closed at a Bar and Grill they would maybe close the doors and not let people sit there and wait for somebody that never shows up? Just a thought. I dont know if they changed ownership possibly, but this kind of (lack of) service is not going to fly with the general public. Its a shame. I use to love this place. read more

I've been coming here since October 2023. Lately, not so much since football is not in season, but I've always had a great time. It's small, cozy, has great decorations and the service staff is cool/friendly. I've never really had any major issues. There is also a pool in case you bring friends that play. They do all sorts of activities on different days. You just need to ask so you can come prepare to play raffle, trivia, bingo, etc. I've also eaten lots here. I definitely enjoyed their mozz sticks, carne asada fries and their 1/2lb burger. I remember the second time I came here, the cook undercooked my burger. It was still raw when I took a bite out of it. After I spoke with him and asked him to cook it again, he said, "he got me and apologized." Mind you I've worked in kitchens/food service before and I know sometimes shit just happens. I recall, He was busy that night w/ lots of orders. I know some people just expect food to be served hot and fresh like "SPY KIDS" (yes, favorite childhood movie), but if you don't like waiting then don't order food and go eat at mcdonalds or whatever. read more

Stopped in for lunch. The sandwiches were good and the service was good. Prices are high, much like everywhere now. $15 sandwich plus a drink and tip will probably run $25 for lunch. Was surprised I was the only customer for lunch. Maybe the cost of eating out for lunch has people bringing their lunch to work more. It also felt like the neighborhood bar atmosphere is gone. My husband and I had just arrived in San Diego and were on the hunt for dinner and found this place. The Scoreboard has a very open inviting feel to it, definitely the local hangout. The burgers were delicious and the home style fries were so good, while it did take sometime to get our food due to a larger party of people that came before us; the staff was super apologetic and checked on us when they had the chance. New owners really ran this place into the ground. Last time I was here, there were giant cockroaches EVERYWHERE. Saw 3 of them running up the walls in about a 1 hour timeframe, then one actually flew into my friends lap. He jumped up and swiped it off, obviously disgusted. One of the owners saw everything, laughed, and said "yeah, that's why we're remodeling". I then pointed one out on the wall directly behind him, and he goes "yeah I see it" and walked away. I know several families who have been going to this bar about since they opened, and they won't go back under this ownership. It's a real shame. Edit: this is most certainly not a lie, I was there with about 10 other people who witnessed all of this go down. People who have been coming to the scoreboard since it originally opened. This was just before the "remodel" (aka putting a couple of cheap signs on the outside of the bar). I can't speak on whether or not there are still cockroaches, because I will absolutely never go back here. Truly disgusting behavior from the new owners. read more

This place is really shady. I waited for almost two hours to get my food. The lady said if I waited the food was on the house. I said no that's ok I'll wait a little bit longer. I must have misunderstood her so I decided to continue to wait a little bit longer at that point I told myself "well I might as well wait it out if it's free " After about another hour my food finally came. When I started to leave she told me the total and I reminded her that she said it was free. The lady working said "fine" I wasn't being too harsh because they were busy, but two hours of my life is valuable and plus I wasn't there to drink. I came back about a month later for food and drinks. When I checked my my bank account I noticed I got charged twice. I can assume that the lady working thought I was stupid and took it upon herself to charge me from before. That's totally not cool and in my opinion considered stealing. I just happend to be in the mood for a burger and maybe run into some old drinking buddies which I did, James, Terry, Chuck, and Marylin. He doesn't know how to EQ a sound system properly singers around music soft in the music's loud in the singers volumes and EQ are sporadic at best. He insisted that use a microphone cover he constantly complained cuz my fingers touch the edge of the ball even though I made my living at music for 40years buying a house in Imperial Beach with my income when half the people didn't use a microphone cover although they transferred spit to the microphone, when there sing into a microphone he makes no sense most people know that coronavirus 19 is transferred by spit and not by contact by fingers so if you want to come and have a decent. Stop number three was the scoreboard yay. We stopped here for a bit. Saw some friends yay. Chatted a bit, possibly drank. The bartenders here are pretty cool. The set up is a bunch of coolers for beers and they have a full bar as well. I swear every time I come here I get water though. This time I had to pace myself. I had some pretty strong drinks. I was extremely hungry and was praying this sports bar had good food. The bartender was friendly and welcomed me when I sat at the bar. He served me an ice cold beer and recommended that I order the nightly special which was Meatloaf. I was more than presently surprised when my meal came. The meatloaf was the best I've ever had in my life! It was so good I took a picture and posted it in the Photo's. Its makes me hungry just looking at the pic. I like slight new remodel. The new bar top looks great, and love the new bar stools. The food was good ordered the burger with pastrami. My only disappointment was the bill. I also ordered a tall, vodka soda with a splash of cran. When I later got the bill I saw it was $12 a drink! For house vodka? The bartender charged me double when I didn't ask for it. I really like this bar. It can get a little cramped in there, and most of the time it is hard to find a seat at the bar.
