Spicy BBQ Sauce

Cody and Ryan make this place extra fabulous! They clearly enjoy working there and it shows. They're kind, helpful, and friendly! We only tried the mac and cheese and corn fritters, but both were delicious and their honey butter is so yummy. We liked that they had a dog-friendly patio too! If you're at the Ferry Landing, I would highly recommend Lil Piggy's instead of the pizza place next door -- the service here is a 10 compared to about a 3 there.

Went here for a going away party! Chill spot by the ferry landing. Had the Fried Pickles and Jalapeño Poppers to share e everyone. The poppers were delicious and so weee the pickles. Onion rings were tasty but the star of the show was the limited menu item, the smoked pastrami sandwich. Thick slices of super tasty pastrami with the perfect mustard condiment! Hurry and go get one before it's off the menu! Service was good and gave great suggestions. Place wasn't packed but we were there at opening but more customers were showing up as we got our food

The thick Texas chili - felt more like something I'd stick in a sandwich and not like a soup

This spot is in a premium location - the Coronado ferry landing and there was plenty of parking. It wasn't busy when we stopped by, compared to the pizza spot next to it so we landed on trying this one. I wasn't too hungry, so I ended up ordering Texas brisket chili which came with a couple of their corn fritters and a side order of Mac and cheese. Mac and cheese was pretty good - at first glance it looked dry but I ended up liking this one! The Texas brisket chili might have been the bottom of the pot (being the end of day) - it didn't feel fresh and it was very thick, almost as if it was just mashed up brisket with some sauce on it. Maybe I'm just not used to this kind of chili but I was looking for something like a hearty soup. The corn fritters weren't my favorite either - they were pretty dry and my fiance went to ask for some butter and it tasted better after with the butter. My fiance got the brisket plate with beans and toast - the sliced brisket was actually not bad. This is a spot for convenience - it will definitely get the job decently done if you're in the area but wouldn't crack my top 5 bbq spots in San Diego.

We were passing by and were convinced by the yummy smells! They were helpful when ordering, as it was our first time. I got the chicken burger with onion rings. The onion rings were crispy and not greasy! The burger could use a bit more flavor on the chicken but overall very yummy! They have covered seating as well as a table or two outside. Definitely stop by for their yummy sandwiches!

1st: It's valentine's day & we love BBQ BUT at 6:30pm, they're already out of ribs, chicken. Mac & cheese & corn. 2nd: meat was cold, our brisket was mostly burnt ends. Other than that disappointment, the food had good flavor & decent portions for the cost. We paid about $70 for everything but has the groupon for $50. The brisket melted in your mouth with a great smoke ring. The corn fritters were delicious but not much corn. Definitely recommend coming earlier in the day is you want to try everything. Kind staff.

Pig Out Platter

Came here once years ago and found it to be just "ok." Glad I gave it another shot because Lil Piggy's was great this time around. We got the Pig Out Platter with brisket, pulled pork, baby back ribs, smoked macaroni salad, onion rings ($2 upcharge) and a side of fries and corn fritters. It was a metric TON of food. The brisket and ribs were the stars of the show but the corn fitters were a close second. Although it was lunch, we have enough leftovers for dinner. Friendly service and a pretty good canned beer selection. Good stuff!

Ugh, not good. I knew it wouldn't be the best after I asked if they had sweet tea, and my man says they have "iced" tea and points to the Gold Peak. Brisket was dry and tough and too lean for my preference. My knife didn't even want to cut it. Of course, legit BBQ places will distinguish between lean or fatty brisket, but this place just has it as "beef brisket." The seasoning on the outside was not bad, but both that and the sauces are just band-aids on bad meat. They had three sauces. As usual, the "spicy" one was, to me, hardly spicy at all. I actually found myself preferring the vinaigrette for some extra zest. I got potato salad for my side and thought that was better than the brisket. The white bread was white bread.

Bad Jalepeno poppers. Not fresh at all.

Very disappointing. This is not a legit smoked BBQ joint. The food is clearly prepared ahead of time and then set under a heat lamp or warming tray or something (I'm not talking about the meat). I got the grilled cheese pork sandwich and it was obvious it had been made and set aside probably hours before I got it. Everything was old and flavorless. I would compare this to a bad fast food restaurant. The thing is, going out these days is so expensive it's upsetting to spend $50 on lunch and you literally could have gotten a better meal at McDonalds. We should have sent it back or thrown it out.

The $50 meat sampler.

3 stars because the staff was so nice and helpful. The cole slaw was also delicious. Beans/macaroni salad/potato salad bland. The meat was hard and dry and cold. On the tray everything looked good. I had a few bites of chicken and one piece of brisket and gave the rest to our friends who we treated. We had a groupon good for $60 but we still spent $77 out of pocket with the tip. A suggestion is that the meat is served wrapped in foil to preserve the heat. My friend said to us that we treated sorry this meal was an epic fail. We were so looking forward to this and so sorry it just was not good. My husband said he liked the sandwich he made with the bread that I gave away because it was dry and what may have been shredded pork. I tasted a cold bundle of shards. He said I was too picky.

Lil' Market Combo

I stopped by here after checking out the Coronado area and I was craving barbecue. I ordered the Smoked Piggy Poppers and the Lil' Market Combo. The Smoked Piggy Poppers is a bacon wrapped jalapeño popper. For the Lil' Market Combo, I chose my two items to be ribs and beef brisket. It was a Tuesday and they had the Taco Tuesday special so I got a couple tacos (chicken/pork) as well. The meat fell off the bones of the ribs and they were tasty. The beef brisket was tasty as well. The jalapeños on the Smoked Piggy Poppers may vary on spiciness. There was one jalapeño that was very spicy and the rest were not as spicy. The chicken on the chicken taco was a bit dry, but the pork taco tasted good! The restaurant is located at the Coronado Ferry Landing Marketplace and there are plenty of shops and food areas to walk around the area. I would definitely come back to try the other menu items.

3 Piece Brisket Tennessee Street Tacos

Stopped by since we were in the Coronado area and I've always seen advertisements about this establishment as well as gift card options at Costco. I don't venture out to Coronado much but I'm surprised this place doesn't have higher reviews! It was in a busy small plaza beachfront that reminded me of Seaport Village. They have an extensive menu with lots of delicious options. The service was nice and quick. Shoutout to Isaiah who was super cool, thank you! Lol we're the family who knows your dad that works at the same company as my husband. Like mentioned I'm surprised this place doesn't have higher reviews/stars because everything we got was really good and I was skeptical but blown away because I'm a Phil's girl so I thought this place was pretty darn good! We ordered the Piggy Mac, Texas Brisket Chili, Corn Fritters, 4 bones Baby Back Ribs plate with smoked baked beans, and Brisket Tennessee Street Tacos. They also have 3 flavors of bbq sauce which were all good but my favorite was the Spicy Habanero but all were pretty good. It really helped kick a lot of the dishes off. *Piggy Mac was everyone's favorite! The mac and cheese was soft and cheesy topped with pulled pork and the no extra bbq sauce was needed. We loved it! *Texas Brisket Chili was not your average chili I was expecting! I was expecting watered down chili with lots of beans and small bits of meat. Wrong! It was fully loaded with brisket that there was hardly any room for sauce! Delicious! *Corn Fritters were my least favorite only because I'm not a huge sweets person and this tasted more like dessert for me. It came with a sweet cinnamon dip. It wasn't bad but just not for me. Originally we wanted the Smoked Piggy Poppers but they were out. *Baby Back Ribs and Smoked Baked Beans were delicious! Meat fell off the bone and the extra habanero bbq sauce leveled it up! The beans were also amazing they were perfectly sweet and hearty without being salty or plain. *Brisket Tennessee Street Tacos were good. The slaw it came with gave it a nice crunch and the habanero bbq sauce gave it that kick!

Meats

We ordered the " outrageous" platter which included ribs, chicken, pulled pork, sausage and brisket plus four sides. Everything was outstanding with a special shoutout on the ribs. Their baked beans included shreds of pork which took them to the next level. Definitely treating the onion rings next time. The location is great for views of the bay and it's fun to walk around the little shops after a big meal. We have already made one return visit and have put Lil Piggy's at the top of our barbecue favorites.

Brisket, pulled pork, potato salad, baked beans, brisket chili, and fried pickles.

The food was delicious. Brisket very tender and great tasting BBQ sauces. The fried pickles were a hit too as the batter is light and crispy. The employees were friendly and helpful. It was a busy Sunday and the tables were bussed right away so everything was clean. There is no wait staff as you order at the counter but they bring your food to you and we were checked on several times during our visit.

Pulled pork sandwich, beans, and their amazing corn fritters!

It's an order at the counter with a small seating area inside and a nice patio outdoors. Purchase & provided a number. Not only do that have their famous lobster rolls, but they also have additional signature sandwiches, specialty soups, salads and home made cole slaw as just one of their side options. Most people here order the classic lobster roll as did I. That said, you can also customize your roll, plus they offer shrimp and crab choices too! Not to long of a wait, but keep in mind ALL orders are made "fresh to order", so if they're busy it can take a little longer. Presentation was nice and sandwiches are served with a slice of fresh lemon that brightens the taste. The highlight was the decadent butter fried roll. It was warm, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. You can taste the butter in each bite. They provide fresh cold water that you can serve yourself which was welcome with the warm weather. Additionally, they have soda and lemonade. It could be considered a bit pricey, but everything I was eating on my San Diego trip near the beach is. Service was friendly and they brought my meal to my table which was nice. Would definitely go again. Note-There are two other locations in the San Diego area. If you have to use the restroom there is not one inside their establishment, it's a few buildings down and they will provide you a key and directions.

Out of the different options available in Terminal 2, Phil's seemed like a solid choice. I have yet to go to sit down at a Phil's BBQ in SD, but for my first time it was pretty darn good. For the airport price, I was pleasantly surprised at how large this burger was, I feel like it was a fair price. ---- Notes: - plenty of seating + bar seating available all with paper towel roll dispensers (it can get very messy with all the sauce!) - 3 different ways of ordering: 1. Scan a QR code and order directly on their toast platform. 2. Order from kiosks. 3. Order from cashiers in the front - hand wipes, utensils, and condiments all available for grabs - pretty cool seating area when you look at the hanging lights that show someone swimming through it (see the video) ---- Overall: good bang for your buck, solid humongous bbq burger, a bit heavy (but can be a good thing if you're trying to induce a food coma for a long haul flight!), makes me want to try a real Phil's BBQ outside of the airport

They are very dog friendly so they were a lot of calm trained dogs. We have tried their brisket bbq taco, french fries and I also had their spicy margarita. Brisket bbq taco: the meat was tender, I really loved the combination of spicy salsa with cold corn and warm cheese. I don't know why but it was so good! Fries were also great, you can't go wrong with some fries with cheese. And I think the lady who was working as a bartender did a good job a making spicy margarita. So I came here on a Sunday. Let me start by saying I loved the vibe and the customer service was superb. The cashier was really nice and people were constantly checking on us while we sat and ate. I'm from LA and this place was giving backyard BBQ with unc and auntie and them. lol. There is a cigar lounge type vibe to the very back serving up cocktails and playing sports on the big screen if that's your vibe. They also had some RnB playing as well. Now for the food. They are not stingy with the portions at all. I ordered rib tips, a hot link, and brisket with cornbread, potato salad and Mac n cheese. The rib tips were not as tender as I would've like them to be, however the flavor was good and their bbq sauce was phenomenal. The brisket was SUPER tender but could use more flavor. The Mac n cheese was too salty for me and my friend that came with me. However, the person who recommended the spot said the Mac n cheese was fire so maybe it was an off day which happens. The potato salad though (which they only have Fri-Sun) was out of this world and so was the cornbread. Oh AND they have kool-aid ! I did not get any but I'm sure it was fire.
