It was okay but it's hot af if it's hot outside. I know you want to feel the breeze but this restaurant is far from the water and parts of it is not shaded outside. Even if it wasn't that hot I would have to give it 3 stars because the Mac n cheese was like cafeteria Mac n cheese. You can't have that kinda mac at a barbecue spot. The brisket! Get that brisket sandwich! It's so good! Great views but way too hot in there!
Location, location... nestled in the middle of the ferry landing, this little BBQ spot hits the mark if you're in the mood for some good brisket, or pulled pork while strolling around the beach town. The idea is simple; pick your meat, pick your sides. There's sauce too, from your classic tangy BBQ, to a variety that brings the heat. This makes for a delightful meal on those days where the sun just takes it out of you. And you really can't beat the atmosphere. Grab a table outside and watch the buzz, or get out of the sun with a table under the covered patio. I've tried most of meats on the menu... my absolute favorite is the California burrito with brisket! Of course, an ice cold cerveza always pairs with BBQ. Always a good time here, but do be expecting a wait as they prepare your meal. It'll be worth it.
Went here for a going away party! Chill spot by the ferry landing. Had the Fried Pickles and Jalapeño Poppers to share e everyone. The poppers were delicious and so weee the pickles. Onion rings were tasty but the star of the show was the limited menu item, the smoked pastrami sandwich. Thick slices of super tasty pastrami with the perfect mustard condiment! Hurry and go get one before it's off the menu! Service was good and gave great suggestions. Place wasn't packed but we were there at opening but more customers were showing up as we got our food
This spot is in a premium location - the Coronado ferry landing and there was plenty of parking. It wasn't busy when we stopped by, compared to the pizza spot next to it so we landed on trying this one. I wasn't too hungry, so I ended up ordering Texas brisket chili which came with a couple of their corn fritters and a side order of Mac and cheese. Mac and cheese was pretty good - at first glance it looked dry but I ended up liking this one! The Texas brisket chili might have been the bottom of the pot (being the end of day) - it didn't feel fresh and it was very thick, almost as if it was just mashed up brisket with some sauce on it. Maybe I'm just not used to this kind of chili but I was looking for something like a hearty soup. The corn fritters weren't my favorite either - they were pretty dry and my fiance went to ask for some butter and it tasted better after with the butter. My fiance got the brisket plate with beans and toast - the sliced brisket was actually not bad. This is a spot for convenience - it will definitely get the job decently done if you're in the area but wouldn't crack my top 5 bbq spots in San Diego.
1st: It's valentine's day & we love BBQ BUT at 6:30pm, they're already out of ribs, chicken. Mac & cheese & corn. 2nd: meat was cold, our brisket was mostly burnt ends. Other than that disappointment, the food had good flavor & decent portions for the cost. We paid about $70 for everything but has the groupon for $50. The brisket melted in your mouth with a great smoke ring. The corn fritters were delicious but not much corn. Definitely recommend coming earlier in the day is you want to try everything. Kind staff.
Came here once years ago and found it to be just "ok." Glad I gave it another shot because Lil Piggy's was great this time around. We got the Pig Out Platter with brisket, pulled pork, baby back ribs, smoked macaroni salad, onion rings ($2 upcharge) and a side of fries and corn fritters. It was a metric TON of food. The brisket and ribs were the stars of the show but the corn fitters were a close second. Although it was lunch, we have enough leftovers for dinner. Friendly service and a pretty good canned beer selection. Good stuff!
Ugh, not good. I knew it wouldn't be the best after I asked if they had sweet tea, and my man says they have "iced" tea and points to the Gold Peak. Brisket was dry and tough and too lean for my preference. My knife didn't even want to cut it. Of course, legit BBQ places will distinguish between lean or fatty brisket, but this place just has it as "beef brisket." The seasoning on the outside was not bad, but both that and the sauces are just band-aids on bad meat. They had three sauces. As usual, the "spicy" one was, to me, hardly spicy at all. I actually found myself preferring the vinaigrette for some extra zest. I got potato salad for my side and thought that was better than the brisket. The white bread was white bread.
Cody and Ryan make this place extra fabulous! They clearly enjoy working there and it shows. They're kind, helpful, and friendly! We only tried the mac and cheese and corn fritters, but both were delicious and their honey butter is so yummy. We liked that they had a dog-friendly patio too! If you're at the Ferry Landing, I would highly recommend Lil Piggy's instead of the pizza place next door -- the service here is a 10 compared to about a 3 there.
We were passing by and were convinced by the yummy smells! They were helpful when ordering, as it was our first time. I got the chicken burger with onion rings. The onion rings were crispy and not greasy! The burger could use a bit more flavor on the chicken but overall very yummy! They have covered seating as well as a table or two outside. Definitely stop by for their yummy sandwiches!
Sorry Lil Piggy's, after today's visit your rating dropped from 5 stars to 2. I've been here numerous times, and if you get here when they first open, you have to tell the cashier you want your food fresh, not yesterday's leftovers. Today I didn't say anything, and sure enough, my brisket sandwich was cold and dry. They did give me a good fresh one after I called them out on it. Why don't you let the employees take left overs home at closing time. If it's a customer's first time eating at your place, they might not be back again. I know what your food should taste like. That's why I said something.
This Cali brisket burrito...my goodness was this heavenly. Packed with rich smoky flavor and the brisket was expertly made. Everything about this burrito blew me away. 10/10.

Very disappointing. This is not a legit smoked BBQ joint. The food is clearly prepared ahead of time and then set under a heat lamp or warming tray or something (I'm not talking about the meat). I got the grilled cheese pork sandwich and it was obvious it had been made and set aside probably hours before I got it. Everything was old and flavorless. I would compare this to a bad fast food restaurant. The thing is, going out these days is so expensive it's upsetting to spend $50 on lunch and you literally could have gotten a better meal at McDonalds. We should have sent it back or thrown it out.

We decided to have BBQ right after getting off the Coronado ferry since we were gonna go biking around Coronado. We also wanted to watch the USA game, so this was a perfect spot for us. This restaurant is in the middle of all the other restaurants, so it was pretty convenient. You place your order at the front and then find yourself a table. Pretty convenient, honestly. I ordered the Tennessee tacos with brisket. I did enjoy my tacos. I ended up adding their original sauce to the tacos to add a little flavor since I found the brisket a bit bland. Unfortunately, my boyfriend was not happy with his meal. He ordered the ribs and brisket, and they were dry and bland as well. My boyfriend is not big on sauces, so when he needed to add sauce to his BBQ, he definitely was not happy about it. So I would say don't expect much especially if you've had some good bbq elsewhere. It gets the job done if you're hungry, but unfortunately, nothing special about their BBQ. Also, they only have outdoor seating, but they have a nice setup with plenty of tables on the patio. Customer service was pretty on point as well. From the lady who took our order to the folks who served our food, they were all pretty friendly. read more
My friend and I went to listen to some blues by the Coronado ferry landing on Sunday afternoon 2-5pm. There's usual a band on Sunday. Then we decided to stop by Little Piggy's for brisket and pulled pork. It was a busy time but we ordered in about 5 mins. We got our number and found a table on the side of the building. 15-20 mins later we wondered why the food was taking so long since it was BBQ. We were informed they don't serve in that area! Wow! They couldn't even poke their head around and yell out our number. Our food was cold but we ate it anyway because we were hungry. Friend said her pulled pork sandwich was good but Mac n Cheese was not worth the extra price and wouldn't recommend it. I got the brisket plate with potato salad. My brisket was cold and a little dry but a good sized portion. The BBQ sauce was tasty - with just the right amount of sweetness and acidity. Potato salad was alright. I had asked the cashier what are the most popular sides - Mac n cheese, potato salad and beans. read more

I stopped by here after checking out the Coronado area and I was craving barbecue. I ordered the Smoked Piggy Poppers and the Lil' Market Combo. The Smoked Piggy Poppers is a bacon wrapped jalapeño popper. For the Lil' Market Combo, I chose my two items to be ribs and beef brisket. It was a Tuesday and they had the Taco Tuesday special so I got a couple tacos (chicken/pork) as well. The meat fell off the bones of the ribs and they were tasty. The beef brisket was tasty as well. The jalapeños on the Smoked Piggy Poppers may vary on spiciness. There was one jalapeño that was very spicy and the rest were not as spicy. The chicken on the chicken taco was a bit dry, but the pork taco tasted good! The restaurant is located at the Coronado Ferry Landing Marketplace and there are plenty of shops and food areas to walk around the area. I would definitely come back to try the other menu items. read more
Stopped by since we were in the Coronado area and I've always seen advertisements about this establishment as well as gift card options at Costco. I don't venture out to Coronado much but I'm surprised this place doesn't have higher reviews! It was in a busy small plaza beachfront that reminded me of Seaport Village. Lol we're the family who knows your dad that works at the same company as my husband. Like mentioned I'm surprised this place doesn't have higher reviews/stars because everything we got was really good and I was skeptical but blown away because I'm a Phil's girl so I thought this place was pretty darn good! We ordered the Piggy Mac, Texas Brisket Chili, Corn Fritters, 4 bones Baby Back Ribs plate with smoked baked beans, and Brisket Tennessee Street Tacos. They also have 3 flavors of bbq sauce which were all good but my favorite was the Spicy Habanero but all were pretty good. It really helped kick a lot of the dishes off. *Piggy Mac was everyone's favorite! The mac and cheese was soft and cheesy topped with pulled pork and the no extra bbq sauce was needed. We loved it! *Texas Brisket Chili was not your average chili I was expecting! I was expecting watered down chili with lots of beans and small bits of meat. Wrong! It was fully loaded with brisket that there was hardly any room for sauce! Delicious! *Corn Fritters were my least favorite only because I'm not a huge sweets person and this tasted more like dessert for me. It came with a sweet cinnamon dip. It wasn't bad but just not for me. Originally we wanted the Smoked Piggy Poppers but they were out. *Baby Back Ribs and Smoked Baked Beans were delicious! Meat fell off the bone and the extra habanero bbq sauce leveled it up! The beans were also amazing they were perfectly sweet and hearty without being salty or plain. *Brisket Tennessee Street Tacos were good. 3 stars because the staff was so nice and helpful. The cole slaw was also delicious. Beans/macaroni salad/potato salad bland. The meat was hard and dry and cold. On the tray everything looked good. I had a few bites of chicken and one piece of brisket and gave the rest to our friends who we treated. We had a groupon good for $60 but we still spent $77 out of pocket with the tip. A suggestion is that the meat is served wrapped in foil to preserve the heat. My friend said to us that we treated sorry this meal was an epic fail. We were so looking forward to this and so sorry it just was not good. My husband said he liked the sandwich he made with the bread that I gave away because it was dry and what may have been shredded pork. I tasted a cold bundle of shards. Turns out this place rates as it should and has 3 stars because it's not terrible but it's not great and quite mediocre. The meats don't have any Smokiness to them nor much seasoning or flavor. The brisket was tender and the service was prompt, good cans of beer selection and plenty of seating. So a one and done for me as there isn't much to desire for coming back. read more
I went here with my GF since she had a Groupon discount and plus I love barbecue. The staff were very nice and the prices for plates and sandwiches were reasonable. I got a BBQ Chicken sandwich with a side of Smoked Mac Salad. I honestly enjoyed the Mac salad more than my sandwich. The chicken tasted flavorless in my mouth and I had to add lot of BBQ sauce to make it taste better. My GF got the bbq pork grilled cheese which she loved. After 15 years of only going to Village Pizza for office events for lunch we decided to try LiL Piggy's BAR BQ. They did not disappoint during our visit! Super friendly and professional costumer service. Location and the facility well maintained. No issues with over 15 meals ordered. The outdoor setting definitely match the theme of the area. Besides our large group everyone was enjoying their food and the friendly atmosphere! Highly recommended for a visit. read more

What went well? Good Happy Hour $5 Modelo, tremendous pulled pork sandwich on a big, fluffy potato roll, delicious beans with bits of pulled pork in it, and the amaze-balls corn fritters with honey butter. This is legit 'que, quickly served, hot and delicious, with a view of the bay! What more do you want? HINT: I did not see the corn critters on the menu. ASK!! They're not quite hushpuppies (IYKYK), but they are almost that good! read more

This cool restaurant is hidden away at the corner but OMG what a gem. It was extremely hard to pick an item. I wished I would have been starving so I could order more stuff but I had a late lunch and couldn't fit more in :). The staff was super helpful in talking about the menu. The place was packed but they take your order quickly and then bring your food to your table. They had cool country music playing which pairs up so well with a BBQ place. We ordered the Cali BBQ Sandwich with jalapeño; avocado and a Potato Salad a la Carte and shared it. Portions were great size for the sandwich and potato salad. We absolutely loved loved the sandwich and it was cool that they have 3 sauces at the table, Texas BBQ, Original BBQ and spicy BBQ. I definitely went for spicy one and yes it was burning my mouth because of the additional fresh jalapeños on the sandwich. I loved that it was fresh and added a great crunch to it. I really appreciated and was equally surprised at the vast selection of beers they have. I think there is something for everyone here. I added a video of their drinks cooler. Little bbq shop on the beach, you don't eat here because of the food, you come here for a seat overlooking San Diego harbor from Coronado island. I had the bbq jalapeño sausage sandwich and onion rings and shared some Mac n cheese. They were all good. You go to a counter and order and they bring it to your table. One of my pet peeves, they ask you to tip before you even sit down. Parking is for the whole shopping complex next to the bay, the first two hours are complementary and $9 after that. The bay is spectacular here. read more

Found a Groupon just while looking up things to do in San Diego. We ordered the combo and rib sandwich. The restaurant was clean with ample parking and seating. Inside, we were greeted and helped right away. The food came out quickly, hot, and flavorful. My favorite was the rib sandwich. Tried Lil Piggy's Bar-B-Q and went for the Gone to the Market sampler platter--definitely the right move if you want to try a bit of everything. You order at the counter and then find a table where someone brings your food to you. The brisket and ribs were the stars of the show--tender, smoky, and packed with flavor. The pulled pork had great taste but was on the dry side, so not quite as memorable. One unexpected standout: the mac n cheese. Super creamy, cheesy, and comforting--next time, I'm ordering a double portion of that for sure. The baked beans were solid too, and the portion size overall was huge. Even with two people, we had plenty of leftovers to take home. Was a nice day to sit outside and enjoy watching the scenery! Bonus tip: check Groupon before you go--we scored nearly 50% off, which made it an even better value. All in all, a satisfying BBQ experience with a few standout bites. We throughly enjoyed this casual BBQ spot. I liked how they had sauce options on the table as I don't like my food drenched in sauce. We ordered the Salad with Brisket and the Slider Trio. It was exactly what we expected and wanted. I appreciate how clean the restaurant was. Staff were cleaning a glass door while we were there too! Cashier was friendly and helpful with food selections. Hate to give 2 star but an 8oz, maybe less, of Texas brisket chili is not worth $12! I ordered the LARGE so I wonder how the small is, probably a scoop of it? Just saying. In picture green mug is 14oz & other mug is 10oz. I moved the contents to the 10oz cup to reheat and it was just a little over half the 10oz mug. I got mainly onions, celery, & other add ons, probably like 4 pcs of meat. Don't get me wrong, they have tasty food. Just a little too much on pricing. read more
Food 10/10 Service 10/10 Ambiance 10/10 Recently came here happy hour and had such a good time! Our cashier was a sweetheart and great at answering questions I had about the happy hour menu. My bbq pork sliders and fried pickles were scrumptious! Paired it with a happy hour wine as well. All hit the spot!
