Looking for a quick snack, we ended up here at Lobster West because this is also where we found easy parking on a busy weekend in Coronado. Got the CLASSIC LOBSTER ROLL and my son got the BOSS LOBSTER ROLL , my wife ordered her FLIGHT OF ALL THREE SIGNATURE SOUP , which is the Lobster Bisque , New England Clam chowder, and Maryland Crab . Everything is okay, no complaints about the taste. I was expecting the Boss Lobster to have a much bigger size difference from a Classic lobster roll, but it seems the Classic and Epic do not have much difference. Also, it would be nice when I'm paying to the cashier, if he had told me that they offer a Military discount, it's obvious I'm wearing my Retired Hat that says Retired Navy in Big Bold letters. They do have a sign but it got covered by other customers standing next to it so I didn't see that part until the other customer left and I already paid. Few seating only available inside but they do have a few tables outdoors. They don't have a bathroom but when you ask they will give you a Key for the upstairs floor that you can use, it belongs to multiple businesses in the building.
The cashier was friendly and promptly took our order. They may have been understaffed, but getting the gluten free lobster roll took around 15 min. I was happy to find a gluten free roll which turned out to be a hot dog bun shape. It tasted good, everything was served cold. It was a cold bun that had cold lobster with a little oil and spices on top. It was pricey, around $27 out the door. I have not had a lobster roll and expected it to be warm, but it did have a good flavor, but was a small portion. The place is smaller inside, but cute decor and lots of outdoor seating. I took mine to go to eat at the beach. If I wanted to splurge I might order something warm if I went again.
Yum! This spot definitely satisfied my lobster roll cravings. The bread was crunchy and buttery. The lobster tasted fresh and they give you a decent amount for the standard lobster roll. The crab roll was also very good. We tried the soup trio and the lobster bisque and clam chowder were my favorites. I would skip on the coleslaw since it was lacking flavor. The baked beans were sweet and tasty. The seating is first come first serve. Decent amount of beer selection as well.
We honestly didn't expect to eat a lobster roll in San Diego. I was so elated to stumble across this place on 3/23/25 while on a weekend jaunt with my daughter, Kaylah and her friend, Sergio. The restaurant is small and clean. Limited seating inside. However, there is additional seating outside. We placed our order and paid up front and then were served our food. We decided to eat outside under the sun. It was a beautiful day. It had been awhile since I had eaten Lobster roll. My daughter and I ordered the Classic Lobster roll $23. She had a side of Lobster bisque. I had a side of coleslaw. We both really enjoyed it. It was flavorful and delicious! Sergio got the Junior Sampler: Crab roll and Lobster roll $21 which he enjoyed as well. The prices were reasonable. Service was great. We would definitely return when back in San Diego! =)
I've been wanting to try this place for a long time. I DoorDash it today and I knew I wanted to try a little bit of everything, so I got the Nor'Easter which includes the Jr crab roll, Jr lobster roll, Jr shrimp roll. I also got a cup lobster bisque and a toasted roll to go with it and two Whoopie pies for dessert. Finally, I got the tarragon lemon aïoli on the side. The sandwiches were small (hence the "Jr") but after eating them and the very generous cup of soup, I was very full! For some reason, I was expecting the sandwiches to be mediocre, but immediately when I opened the bag, the smell was heavenly and the taste was even better. They were delicious! I got them all Connecticut style, which I think means warmed up? My favorite was the crab roll but they were all amazing. The bisque was good too -- not my favorite I've ever had (there's some flavor I usually like that was a little lacking. I think it's the sherry flavor? I'm not sure.) but definitely very tasty. I'm too full to try the whoopie pies yet but they look just like my mom's so I'm very hopeful!! I'm so pleasantly surprised and will absolutely be stopping by this restaurant to grab some more food soon!
Went here on a weekend with our puppy around lunch and it wasn't busy at all. They have outdoor patio seating so that's really nice if you want to bring a dog along. We had the classic lobster rolls, lobster bisque and Maryland crab soup. The lobster rolls were good, but the bread is really what carried the lobster rolls! The bread was soft, flaky and buttery. The classic is a little expensive for the price though as it's literally just the lobster roll with no sides or anything. They could also add a little more lobster to the classic but they want you to pay more for the meat upgrades. The soups were okay. I thought the lobster bisque was solid but wasn't a fan of the crab soup. Overall I'd say it's a cute little spot if you want a quick lunch in Coronado or want to take your dog out while you eat. Parking is hit or miss since it's street parking in Coronado. You might have to walk a bit to get to the place.
The lobster rolls here are so delicious! I usually add even more lobster but this time I didn't, and it was a good portion size. The bread and lobster is buttery and full of flavor. There aren't many tables here, but you do have the option to sit inside or enjoy the ocean air on the patio. My only complaint is the price. If they were a few dollars cheaper, I would eat here more often.
I want to give this place a higher score, but really it was just overall...OK. Pete's Seafood remains my favorite place for lobster roll and clam chowder. Apologies for the redness of the food photos (the umbrella above our table was red), but here is my feedback about the things we ordered at Lobster West: - Lobster roll classic ($24): The lobster meat was tender. The bun was nicely buttered (although I did not realize until halfway through eating that they forgot to cut the other side of my bun or something, because it looked like a hot dog bun still & did not have much butter). I think the light touch of mayo and spice was a good flavor addition. - Lobster roll boss ($32): I would just stick with the Classic size. I do not think there was actually 50% more meat. - Flight of soups ($15): This is definitely the best deal if you want to try all three. But in hindsight I did not enjoy the lobster bisque or the Maryland crab soup, so I probably should have just ordered the clam chowder alone. Although the clam chowder was just ...OK. -- Lobster bisque: Is it wrong to expect lobster meat inside a lobster bisque? This had zero meat. It was all cream. If I had known it would be lobster-scented broth, I would have skipped this entirely. So I recommend that you skip the lobster bisque. -- Maryland crab soup: This is a tomato-based soup. It tasted fine, but it was not what my palate was looking for that day. -- Clam chowder: The chowder was good enough, but I have had better. Luckily it did have the promised clams. Both packets of soup crackers were STALE. Taste one before you add some to the soup. The crackers almost ruined the whole chowder. Indoor and outdoor dining, but technically everything is outdoors. There is a hand sanitizer dispenser at the entrance. I did not realize until the meal was almost over that there is a bathroom available with a code. Service was quick and friendly (just involved giving the order at the cashier, and then interacting with the service who dropped off the food at the table). Parking: I walked here from an event I was attending, so I have no idea how hard/easy it is to park here.
This is a walk up and order but you'll be greeted with a smile. The food came out hot and fresh. Gotta love the toastiness of the bread roll is just the perfect amount of crisp to the filling. I got the "Nor-easter" lil mini rolls packed with shrimp, lobster and crab, seasoned nicely to compliment the seafood not overpower. I did order a delish side of lobster bisque and some lemon tarragon dipping aioli for an extra $1 just incase, while the rolls really didn't need it I did use some of it and it complimented the sandwiches nicely. They have a nice lil outside patio and a few inside tables, it worked perfect because it stopped raining earlier in the day for us to enjoy a smidge of sunshine while we ate.
Honestly 5 stars for the lobster roll alone! The bread is perfectly toasted and buttered along with the buttery lobster on top. Just to die for! I will say it's kinda small for the price, but most lobster rolls are. You can always upgrade to their larger lobster roll portions, but didn't seem to be a crazy difference in portion for price either. I absolutely loved their lobster bisque as well! Just getting the classic lobster roll and the scoop or cup of lobster bisque is the perfect meal. I did try their meal option with iced tea and coleslaw and added some chips. The iced tea was unsweetened and I enjoy my tea either way so it was perfect for me, but don't expect sweetened. The coleslaw was okay, not bad, just okay. Main focus was definitely the lobster roll. Easy to get to this location by finding street parking and walking over. Plenty of outdoor seating with a few indoor seats as well. Fun vibe inside, very East Coast decor.
Such a great little hidden spot just off the busy street (and easy parking, which is a plus!). The young guy working there was super kind and attentive, which made the whole visit even better. The food though... wow. The lobster bisque was rich and full of flavor, and the lobster roll was buttery, fresh, and just plain delicious. The shrimp and crab rolls were also tasty, but honestly the lobster stole the show. Even the cole slaw was amazing--creamy, crunchy, and the perfect side. A bit pricey, yes, but worth it! We would come back for a laid-back afternoon bite. Definitely recommend if you're craving some seriously good lobster rolls !

Stopped in for a late afternoon lunch while visiting Coronado Island on a beautiful sunny Monday. Open Ambience. It's an order at the counter with a small seating area inside and a nice patio outdoors. Purchase & provided a number. Not only do that have their famous lobster rolls, but they also have additional signature sandwiches, specialty soups, salads and home made cole slaw as just one of their side options. Most people here order the classic lobster roll as did I. That said, you can also customize your roll, plus they offer shrimp and crab choices too! Not to long of a wait, but keep in mind ALL orders are made "fresh to order", so if they're busy it can take a little longer. Presentation was nice and sandwiches are served with a slice of fresh lemon that brightens the taste. The highlight was the decadent butter fried roll. It was warm, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. You can taste the butter in each bite. They provide fresh cold water that you can serve yourself which was welcome with the warm weather. Additionally, they have soda and lemonade. It could be considered a bit pricey, but everything I was eating on my San Diego trip near the beach is. Service was friendly and they brought my meal to my table which was nice. Would definitely go again. Note-There are two other locations in the San Diego area. If you have to use the restroom there is not one inside their establishment, it's a few buildings down and they will provide you a key and directions. read more

The service was 10/10 and there's seating inside and on the front and back patio. Self serve water and it's easy to order at the counter, grab your number and they bring you your food. The lobster rolls are delicious, the bread was on the slightly saltier side for me but the coleslaw was good. The soups were tasty. Lobster grilled cheese was good but was smaller than expected, if you're hungry make it a combo. read more

Very friendly staff! Service was fast! The prices seemed reasonable. We tried the lobster roll which had a very generous portion of lobster. The flavor was excellent. We liked being able to sit outside on the patio. We would definitely come again! read more
Nice spot in near Main Street in Coronado. The guy at the front was nice and friendly. Small menu, but who needs many options when lobster rolls are on the menu. We got the basic lobster roll, my fiancé didn't care for it as much but I thought it was delicious. The break is nice and crunchy and flavorful. The coleslaw was good and they have old school root beer. Definitely up my alley and would recommend if you like seafood and lobster rolls as they have other options as well with a crab and shrimp rolls as well. read more
The lobster roll is so delicious. The bun is buttery and perfectly toasted and there is a decent amount of lobster. I got the Flight of Soups and all were good but I really just love the Lobster roll so if you order one thing go for the Lobster roll and you won't regret it read more

Delicious lobster rolls! Order the Boss Lobster rolls which came with 50% more meat, and it was definitely worth it! Filled with delicious chucks of meat! We also ordered the New England Clam Chowder which was also delicious! It paired so well with the rolls we were dipping the roll into the chowder. We'll definitely be back! Parking is a little limited due to street parking, but easy to walk to if you're already walking around Coronado Island! read more

If you're roaming around Coronado, Lobster West is a must stop. They have a couple tables inside, and a few tables outside on the patio for dining. It's a small spot so not really made for large groups. I got a lobster roll (duh) but went with the Boss which packs in 50% more meat. It'll cost you a pretty penny though, at $31 but to me, it's worth it. An extra $4 will make it a combo which offers two sides. I enjoyed the baked beans, as they weren't too sweet. The cole slaw was just okay.. you're probably better off with their kettle chips to add some crunch to your meal. The lobster roll was everything I wanted it to be. It was packed full of succulent lobster and the roll was buttery soft. It looks small but add on the sides and it'll fill you right up. The lemon wedge with my roll was kinda small so I do wish they would have given a larger piece, but it's okay. FYI - It's only a short walk from the Old Town trolley stop. If you took the tour, their little booklet has a coupon for a free scoop of soup. I had the clam chowder but there are 3 soup options. Add extra black pepper and you have something warm and hearty to round out your meal.. plus it's free! If it's free, it's for meeee. read more
Salt water in the air, a beach picnic with a Maine lobster roll - pretty much as good as it gets! This Coronado get away is perfectly situated right next to the beautiful historic Hotel Del! They also have a location in La Jolla, but it's a little off the beach. Ordered the epic Maine lobster roll (the rolls are offered 3 sizes - depending on how much lobster or crab you would like). Rolls are served up on a perfectly toasted warm garlic roll! I recommend to ask for butter on the side, so you can choose how much you want to add. The lobster meat is very sweet and tender, very fresh! But they also offer crab rolls as well. You add sides such as baked beans, coleslaw (yummmmm), and others! Sides are offered in 3 different sizes - which is great depending on how big your group is. Or, if it's just you! I really liked the casual beach vibe of the location in Coronado - patio tables and the restaurant was very clean, with fast friendly service! Lovely spot to stop for a lunch and walk near the Hotel Del! Highly recommend! read more

This place was so cute and in a nice area. Employees working were very nice and fast. Myself and my friend are very bias about our lobster rolls especially just coming back from Hawaii and having one out there. We honestly agreed this was our second on our list. We absolutely loved how crunch the bread was but soft at the same side. We definitely recommend getting boss portion it was completely worth the money! read more

The service was good and they definitely took care of me... I had the lobster bisque which was pretty good and I also got the lobster roll... upgraded to the "BOSS" because extra lobster won't hurt. I'll just say that I may or may not still be chewing on it! Lawd it was rubbery in the worst way but the bread was absolute fire Appreciate the service... Their infamous lobster rolls were unfortunately a tad skimpy. Service was nonchalant and the front wasn't consistently manned. It took a few minutes before someone took my order but the food came out quickly. The tables indoors and outdoors were sticky and trash wasn't cleared. *Lobster Roll: the roll itself was the best part. It was buttery and warm with a subtle toasting on the outside. The amount of lobster inside was a bit underwhelming and tasteless. The lobster tasted overcooked, hence the rubbery texture. *Soup Flight: came with scoop of lobster bisque, New England clam chowder and Maryland crab soup. The lobster bisque was incredibly bland and watery. The clam chowder had a few clams inside and was mostly cream. The crab soup was the best of the three given that it had proper seasoning and some depth of flavor. Although the pricing was reasonable, the quality across the board was lackluster. *Coleslaw: light and acidic. It wasn't too heavy on the mayo so it paired well with the salty soups and roll. Sadly the roll was the best part of the meal which is not saying much considering Lobster West specializes in seafood. Overpriced and a tad grimy. read more

Loved everything!! So happy my fiance and I found this gem to stop by before driving back home I really like that you can choose the budget on your sandwich: the more meat, the more expensive. Lobster roll bread was buttery and crispy. Good amount of meat on the cheapest option. Soup flight was delicious as well. read more

This is the #1 lobster dish in San Diego county according to Yelp. This is our second time here and it was what we expected. They don't have that many tables so you may need to wait for one. You order at the counter, but we had to wait a while for someone to take the order. Food came out really quick. The clam chowder was good, but could've been warmer since it was borderline room temperature. The lobster roll was delicious with lots of meat and dripping butter. I didn't expect to eat a lobster roll in San Diego, but I couldn't pass it up, especially at a spot that specializes in lobster! After walking around Coronado, we stopped here around 1:00P for a late lunch. The small restaurant has some seating inside and outside, but it does fill up quick. Although it was busy, we managed to grab a table on the patio right after we placed our order at the counter. Our food arrived shortly after we got settled and retrieved water from the self-serve station outside. Their menu features full-size lobster, crab and shrimp rolls, but for those who want to try more than one type, you can order a pair or trio of "half-size" rolls. I ordered the DUELING CLAWS ($20) which included a half-size lobster roll and half-size crab roll. The pieces of lobster were smaller chunks, but plump and sweet. The crab was delicate, with sweet and slightly briny notes. Both tasted super fresh and contained minimal mayo, so I appreciated how the natural flavors shined through. Each one had a dash of spices and a wedge of lemon came on the side. The bread was perfectly toasted and buttered in my opinion, being crispy on the outside and soft inside. Others in my group ordered the CLASSIC LOBSTER ROLL ($22) which had much larger pieces of lobster compared to my smaller roll. While seafood is generally on the pricier end and this location is also in a pretty touristy area, I still wouldn't say the prices were completely justified. I would have liked to see a side item included with any of their seafood rolls for a more well-rounded meal. If you want to add on sides, it is an extra $4 for your choice of two. All things considered, we enjoyed our visit here and I'd recommend it if you're seeking a lighter lunch or lobster roll with no frills. read more
Came here with a group of 7 and a dog, patio is dog friendly. I'm still thinking about my meal here it was so good and fresh. The server was working alone and was so busy and he was so polite and attentive. I was excited cause they had a gluten free bun! I had the two half ones and had a crab and lobster roll. They were both so so good. I tried the aioli and it was great. While the gf bun didn't look as good as the regular it was still tasty and did the trick. Will need to go here again! read more

5/5 We got the junior roll samplers and flight of soup. Everything was delicious! The soups were flavorful and came out piping out, perfect for a cold day. The rolls came out on soft buttery bread and were seasoned very well. My favorites were the lobster roll, shrimp roll, and clam chowder soup. We got in line to order our food and dine in the restaurant. Service was very quick. The place was small and clean with limited seating option. Overall the food was great and I would definitely come back here! read more

You can park in the neighborhood or around the surrounding buildings. Don't go to the parking structure because it's for employees/tenants only.
Can your lobster rolls be served warm or do you have the ability to warm the lobster?
Yes our rolls can be served Connecticut style, with warm meat, or Maine style, with the lobster meat chilled. Hope that’s helpful!

I'm pretty sure there are celiac choices, but I'm not 100% sure

Unfortunately they do not. They primarily serve lobster rolls.
