I really didn't enjoy my last visit here and I'll probably never come back. Service was terrible. No one in line, yet waited 5 minutes for my order to be taken. Food came out late, again not busy. First bite, lobster was hard and rubbery. Didn't know lobster could get that kind of texture. I got a bad batch I guess but the soup was room temp. Mind you I'm sitting outside in 65 degree weather. I thought about complaining to the staff but the girl seemed like she couldn't care less. One bad experience ruined it for me guys... Delicious! Got lobster rolls that were fresh and tasty. The bread was perfectly grilled and full the butter flavor. I was not a big fan of the Cole slaw. Strong taste of tarragon? Located in Coronado, parking is plentiful but quite scattered. The line can get a bit long during busy hours. There's a good amount of seating indoors and outdoors. Classic lobster roll (3/5): the bread was warm and crunchy. There was a generous amount of lobster meat but could some more flavor. I liked the coleslaw though. Tap to pay is accepted. My goodness, so good. The bread was toasted but so light and fluffy and didn't take away from the meat at all. It was a perfectly toasted sandwich and the meat was seasoned just right. It allowed you to taste the natural flavor of both the crab and the lobster but the flavor put it on another level. Stopped by Coronado on a weekend and so happy to find this place with delicious lobster rolls! I usually don't go out to look for lobster rolls and don't get them often when I do come across it because I always worry if it's a rip off and if the lobster is not fresh. Lobster West did not disappoint and my boyfriend and I were very happy with the food! The price is not cheap but for how many thick lobster pieces were inside the rolls and how fresh it tasted, it was worth it! We got the cup of clam chowder and that was enough to share between two people. The chowder is rich but tasty! The clam pieces were big and the soup base didn't taste too thick in texture. Overall, the flavors balance well together and the location is easy to spot. The salad was wonderful, and the portion was generous enough for two people. The server was super friendly and courteous. We came at a good time when it wasn't too crowded. We wanted lobster before we left San Diego and so this was the last stop before the airport for me. I had the Dualing Claws with chips, and a scoop of Clam Chowder...hit the spot and I enjoyed it. Clam chowder + slaw delivery review. Had a hankerin for clam chowder this week so ordered a bowl from Lobster West. It's been hot, so side slaw sounded refreshing. The chowder was good, creamy New England style. I liked that it came with 2 bags of oyster crackers which was perfect for my preference. Also appreciated the skin on potato pieces. However would have liked more clam pieces to add additional flavor and texture. Unfortunately the slaw was a big letdown. It looks nice but I stopped eating after one bite because all that I could taste was vinegar. No creamy or sweet or even veg flavors, just that one dissonant vinegar note. I wanted to love this place so, so bad but I personally don't understand how they were voted "best lobster roll in the city". I think I'm just a bit disappointed because for a lobster roll that is worth ~ $22.. I expected a bit more. The roll was like a size of a hot dog. The bread was soft but I just wish they would've toasted it a bit more since it looked pretty dry and sad. Don't get me wrong, the lobsters were fresh and cold, but I feel like there wasn't anything unique about this place. The coleslaw was way too runny. The beans also didn't taste authentic and instead tasted like it came out of a can. It was just VERY SWEET overall. Clam chowder was worse. It barely had any clams and had mostly potatoes. The clams were also not the freshest and the consistency of it was very thick. Overall, I was just a bit disappointed with this place. I bookmarked this place a long time ago and to not have a nice experience was just a letdown. We were back again yesterday and this time it just happened to be our 25th wedding anniversary. I know, I know... This isn't really a silver anniversary type of restaurant but when you've had surgery and been inside for a few months, getting out involves wanting to be outside. So the hubs and I loaded up our golden retriever Floyd, grabbed some lobster rolls, and headed over to the beach for a nice Coronado sunset. It was perfect. The service was again, very attentive. The rolls were both delicious. We asked for ours heated and with butter and they delivered. I think some of the reviews I see here are because folks are unaware that there are different types of lobster rolls. So just ask for what you want. They were more than happy to accommodate. Anyway, I know people's expectations are different but I have had nothing but positive experiences at this restaurant. Found this appt after visiting the Del Coronado hotel for their Christmas light show. Lobster rolls sounded great. It's a small shop couple blocks away and it wasn't busy on a Saturday night. They had an option to do half half rolls so I got the lobster and crab roll option. Also got the soup trip which included clam chowder, Maryland crab soup, and lobster bisque. For the lobster rolls, it had good flavor and was decently meaty. A bit pricey but that's the norm nowadays. There was however this odd bitter taste and I don't think it's coming from the seafood and it was in both. So maybe something spread on the bread? But that was not pleasant. For the soups, the clam chowder was great, Maryland crab soup was uniquely good. At first I was whatever about it but then kept going back for more scoops. It was like minestrone with crab bits and was comforting. The lobster bisque was the most disappointing and we hardly touched it. First it was concerningly not warm as if it was not held qt proper temperature and for seafood, that's a big no for me. Secondly, it did not taste like lobster bisque. It was almost like as if they just poured heavy on sherry at the last minute. It tasted so strong and thinned the bisque out too much. I would recommend stay away from that. It was an easy dinner without having sit down service and I had my dog with me so I was able to eat outside. But I would not recommend. read more

WILL NOT COME BACK. I'd like to think a lot of people agree they're willing to spend good money on good food. I'm sorry, but at lobster west the quality and taste of the food are not good enough for their ridiculous prices. We were intrigued by the sign down the street that said something along the lines of "voted best lobster roll in the city" and decided to check it out! We were excited because we've had a really good lobster roll here in San diego at the Hillcrest farmers market and wanted to see if this one was better. Unfortunately, the Lobster Roll lacked fresh flavor in the meat and was almost rubbery. We also ordered a flight of seafood soups and they were WORSE than the roll; they were almost inedible. Their selection of drinks and beverages was lacking as well. Sadly, with prices like this people expect amazing fresh food as advertised and this was just not my experience. We stopped into this location and it was busy so we figured it had to be good. They take your order at the front counter. We got a crab sandwich. Comes with chips and a drink. We got our table on the outside patio which is set up nicely. Umbrellas to keep the sun off you while you enjoy the sandwich.
