Both Dockside and Portside Coffee & Gelato are in the same establishment. We ate at Portside Coffee & Gelato before catching the Coronado Ferry. At that time, we noticed Dockside and decided to stop by after our trip to Coronado Island. So, after completing our trip to Coronado Island, we came here to try their Seafood Combo. Their service was quick, and we had our food within 10 minutes. The Seafood Combo was so good! It was fresh and well cooked. We enjoyed it very much. But the best part was the dock seating area. You can enjoy your Seafood in the dock seating area, which provides scenic overwater views. We loved the vibe of this place very much. In addition, the price was very reasonable. The staff were very friendly and cooperative. With a focus on quality and convenience, Dockside prides itself on using locally sourced ingredients to create flavorful dishes that can be enjoyed on-site or taken to go. My friend and I had lunch at Dockside when along the coast in San Diego. It's such a pretty place inside of a giant glass dome right along the water. We ordered our fish & chips and then went to seating upstairs and waited, waited, waited. No one told us that the downstairs servers didn't come upstairs so our food was sitting for about thirty minutes before we went down to check on it. That's my only gripe with Dockside not properly communicating this, but all was well in the end. The food sat under heat lamps so was still a tepid temperature when we got it, but I'm sure would have been better when crispy and hot. Flavor was great and it was a good portion size! Really fun place to dine and gorgeous views! I think the main pulling point of Dockside is being inside that cool glass dome and dining looking over the ocean. Views are 5 stars!!! read more

Actually a pretty solid option. We sat upstairs (not sure if you can order downstairs or what the situation is downstairs) and it was a nice place to sit even with it being very windy. Nice view of the water with not much on it so I suppose if you are from someplace like Kansas it would be really nice, but as a local it's whatever. If you are looking at the building we entered by the coffee shop and the stairs were to the left, they kinda blend in but this is where we went. We got the fish and chips and the double cheeseburger. The fish was not overly battered and was NOT greasy. It had a very nice taste to it that was good, but nothing that will blow you away. We also got the double cheeseburger that was also a good burger, but nothing that will blow you away, but still good. The fries that came with each meal are standard frozen fries that had good seasoning on them to hide the fact they were basic no frills frozen fries. Again, good food but nothing that will blow you away. The service was about as minimal as you can get, but you don't need more service. You order at the counter , they bring the food out and you get your own drinks and that's about it. Price was on par with the average non-tourist trap locations that was actually surprising. $20 for a hamburger is still crazy but it COULD have been a lot more for the location, so that was a win. Would I eat here again? Yes I would. Would I expect to be blown away? Maybe by the strong wind we had to deal with (ladies in flowy skirts watch out) but that would be about it. read more

Beautiful views and decent food! I'm always weary of restaurants in the most tourist-y parts of town but dockside provided that beautiful coastal atmosphere AND a pretty good meal. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, great energy. There's a bar as well as table seating both upstairs and downstairs. We got the Poke Bowl which forewarning is SWEET. Certainly not bad per se but the sauce is too sweet for my taste. Our Cheeseburger and Fries was pretty good! Nice and juicy. The Seafood Sampler was also good, calamari rings were a little small but the fish had a nice flavor and the dipping sauces were both yummy. Parking is a nightmare but if you're ubering or trolleying in it's a great spot for lunch with a view! read more

Hey, this place is pretty neat. It's in the same building as Miguel's and the Brig at the Portside Pier. Nice open air patio under a bubble, it has a lovely bay view. You can enjoy a drink and a seafood snack while people watching. We had a nice time sipping on drinks while we waited for the ferry. read more

Come for the drinks, do not stay for the food. Drinks are great, but the entire menu is fried. And I would not even say fried in a good way. The calamari is over fried and it's just like you're eating breading. The menu used to be great when it was KETCH. Since it's changed names and updated the menu it's a huge downgrade. I will no longer be going to eat there, but I will go for drinks if you're looking for not so great fried food and this is your spot. But this is San Diego enroll somewhat healthy here we prefer shrimp cocktail of fried shrimp cocktail. I really miss the old menu. read more

We stopped in unexpectedly and ordered some beers along with the calamari. While the calamari itself tasted fresh (not frozen), the seasoning was lacking in flavor, and the white sauce that came with it didn't add much. Dockside - Tacos Near Me - San Diego, California

Saw online that Ketch was CLOSED! Came downtown to see for myself and while Ketch is technically no longer the name of the restaurant, you can still go upstairs and order food. It's now called Dockside. The menu is almost identical to the Ketch menu minus a couple of things (octopus, etc). There is no hostess stand or need for reservations. In fact, you don't even need to order food. It's open to the public. You order at the check stand up front and they give you a number and deliver your food (so you can still tip for the service). Beer & cocktail menu is identical to the Ketch version but the drinks are served in plastic cups (not glass). Food is served in cardboard trays (not plates) and silverware is plastic. Food was still good though. My mother wanted a small plate, so she ordered the Kid's Fish & Chips ($10). Came to find out it's exactly the same as the main IPA Fish & Chips ($22) but with two fish vs. three. So, next time I'm just getting the kid's plate too. Happy hour is from 2-5pm DAILY. I still think this is a great place to come soak up some views and a have a great beer. read more

This is my third time here, and I really find it a nice replacement for Anthony's fisheye, which used to occupy the same spot. I had the fish and chips again, and was very happy. It was crispy and not dripping with grease. Very tasty! The chips were American style( not big honkers, but "fries", but they were crispy and salted to perfection. And for $21 not exorbitant. You can't beat the view, either. It's a 10 minute walk to the train station. They have a nice selection of beer. The bartender/ server was friendly and the service was quick. There are MANY more places on the Embarcadero that charge way more and don't deliver as much. read more

We loved going to Ketch on the harbor. Now it's known as Dockside at Portside Pier. (Right next to the Brigantine and Miguel's.) The food is delicious (my favorite is the buffalo cauliflower) and the view can't be beat. Great ambience! Best of all is the service! We needed some assistance and the manager, Anais, did everything she could to make our stay wonderful and memorable. She really is a great manager! And Maddy, our server, was pleasant, attentive, and brought us everything we asked for. It was an overall great experience and we look forward to going back soon. read more

Food portions were very well served, however... the food is served in "to go" boxes regardless of dining in or out.. yikes. Maybe this won't bother many, but for my environmental homies, you'll be pissed off. SO SO MUCH "to go" waste... drinks (wine too) served in plastic cups, all food in boxes, and plastic utensils too despite dining innnn . It just felt unpleasant for a dine in experience that's not really take out food. Bring back original Ketch!!!! read more

I come here to enjoy their Fish and Chips every time I visit San Diego. The battered cod is fried perfectly, it's fresh, tasty and the portion is humongous. It was great to see a group of US Coast Guard enjoying their lunch here. My husband had the seafood combo and he enjoyed it immensely. The food was decent. I was there for less than an hour and saw three dogs in the establishment. Be ready to eat on tables where dogs have put their paws that they walk on the dirty street on without the table being wiped down. Yes I watched this happen and the person did not correct them.
