seafood sampler

Beautiful views and decent food! I'm always weary of restaurants in the most tourist-y parts of town but dockside provided that beautiful coastal atmosphere AND a pretty good meal. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, great energy. There's a bar as well as table seating both upstairs and downstairs. We got the Poke Bowl which forewarning is SWEET. Certainly not bad per se but the sauce is too sweet for my taste. Our Cheeseburger and Fries was pretty good! Nice and juicy. The Seafood Sampler was also good, calamari rings were a little small but the fish had a nice flavor and the dipping sauces were both yummy. Parking is a nightmare but if you're ubering or trolleying in it's a great spot for lunch with a view!

Hey, this place is pretty neat. It's in the same building as Miguel's and the Brig at the Portside Pier. Nice open air patio under a bubble, it has a lovely bay view. You can enjoy a drink and a seafood snack while people watching. We had a nice time sipping on drinks while we waited for the ferry.

Stopped in unexpectedly and had an amazing lunch of fish and chips. Sat upstairs at the bar with a great view of the water. Service was friendly. I will visit every time I'm in San Diego

Fish & Chips are bombdiggity! Cannot go wrong with sandwiches either. Good quality, good deal, good view. Simple and easy.

The Brussels sprouts were the BEST I've ever had.

Great view. Excellent menu. The wine list was superb. The service was great. I've been here twice and I don't even live in San Diego and it's becoming a must place we HAVE to go to if we're in town.

We stopped in unexpectedly and ordered some beers along with the calamari. While the calamari itself tasted fresh (not frozen), the seasoning was lacking in flavor, and the white sauce that came with it didn't add much. That said, the atmosphere and view here are fantastic, making it a great spot to check out and enjoy a drink.

Saw online that Ketch was CLOSED! Came downtown to see for myself and while Ketch is technically no longer the name of the restaurant, you can still go upstairs and order food. It's now called Dockside. The menu is almost identical to the Ketch menu minus a couple of things (octopus, etc). There is no hostess stand or need for reservations. In fact, you don't even need to order food. It's open to the public. You order at the check stand up front and they give you a number and deliver your food (so you can still tip for the service). Beer & cocktail menu is identical to the Ketch version but the drinks are served in plastic cups (not glass). Food is served in cardboard trays (not plates) and silverware is plastic. Food was still good though. My mother wanted a small plate, so she ordered the Kid's Fish & Chips ($10). Came to find out it's exactly the same as the main IPA Fish & Chips ($22) but with two fish vs. three. So, next time I'm just getting the kid's plate too. Happy hour is from 2-5pm DAILY. I still think this is a great place to come soak up some views and a have a great beer.

Fish and chips, Cole slaw, a cold Mexican lager, and a good book. Not that bad....

This is my third time here, and I really find it a nice replacement for Anthony's fisheye, which used to occupy the same spot. I had the fish and chips again, and was very happy. It was crispy and not dripping with grease. Very tasty! The chips were American style( not big honkers, but "fries", but they were crispy and salted to perfection. And for $21 not exorbitant. You can't beat the view, either. It's a 10 minute walk to the train station. They have a nice selection of beer. The bartender/ server was friendly and the service was quick. There are MANY more places on the Embarcadero that charge way more and don't deliver as much.

Great snack for a lazy Sunday walk by the bay! The food was great - hot and fresh! The service was great!

Fried pickle spears, burger and fries, buffalo cauliflower and beer cheese pretzel

Amazing ambience, great views of the harbor. The food was great and a good value; I've brought friends multiple times now. You order from the app or online, and pick it up at the counter. Fantastic value!

RIP KETCH.... came on the first day this converted to "Dockside" before it was called Ketch (on the upper floor).. Food portions were very well served, however... the food is served in "to go" boxes regardless of dining in or out.. yikes. Maybe this won't bother many, but for my environmental homies, you'll be pissed off. SO SO MUCH "to go" waste... drinks (wine too) served in plastic cups, all food in boxes, and plastic utensils too despite dining innnn . It just felt unpleasant for a dine in experience that's not really take out food. Bring back original Ketch!!!!

Lovely afternoon with a Pacifico beer

There were a couple of groups dining in and someone picking up a to-go order, but there was still plenty of seating available. The employee working the counter was friendly. They also serve alcohol, and during my visit drinks were 20% off. Options included Pacifico, Modelo, Blue Moon, hard seltzers, and a selection of canned craft beers. I ordered: * Mahi Mahi Taco: the fish tasted fresh, and I liked the crispy onions on top. There was quite a bit of sauce, which made it pretty messy to eat. While the fish was good, it felt like a very heavy taco overall. * Surf & Turf Taco: this was loaded with steak and topped with two flavorful shrimp. The shrimp had an amazing flavor, and this taco was much more enjoyable and balanced. Overall, the service was great, the prices were very reasonable, and the protein quality was excellent. My only critique is that the tacos felt a little overdone with toppings and sauces when the quality of the protein could easily stand on its own. Still, it's a solid spot for an affordable late-night bite. One thing to note: there are no restrooms available inside the restaurant.

They had the buy 2 get 1 free deal which pushed me to try new meats since I always stick to adobada. ADOBADA HANDS DOWN FIREEE! I love me a good al pastor taco and they make it just right. Super flavorful, juicy and packed w/ meat. I'm always hesitant to try asada because I haven't found a good spot here in SD, but this one was bomb! The meat had great flavor, a smokey taste and was loaded with guac. I'd order one again. The lengua was perfect too, super tender and fell apart just right. They don't skimp on the meats either. Most of the salsas were tasty and had great flavor and the habanero had the perfect kick ! I heard of this spot because my friend had them cater her baby shower and I had to come try the actual spot. Def brought the same energy. Inside is nice and has a good vibe, love all the decor. Service was super sweet! Horchata was bomb too, not to sweet and they said it's homemade! The service is attentive and casual with the girls that help you very friendly and specially a girl taking the order always smiling to everyone. The ambiance is casual, non stressed with everyone enjoying and listening to regional Mexican music. I thought the efficiency of logistics to serve could be improved. They just yell and walk around looking for the name on the order. Other than that observation, I think the place delivers what it promises with good tacos, decent prices and awesome attitude

I kept hearing about this place from friends and decided to try it out today…read more I ordered a Vampiro Carne Asada, Vampiro Al Pastor, and an Al Pastor taco. Everything was delicious. This was my first time trying a taco Vampiro style (crunchy and cheesy), it was great. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. The location of the menu vs the counter didn't work well - you couldn't see the menu when ordering so everyone had to keep looking back and forth just to place each order (they need to fix the signage or layout). Service was super fast. It came with a small plate of cucumbers, radishes, and limes. They also dropped off 2 salsa bottles - a super spicy habanero salsa, and a medium spicy salsa verde. They had plenty of seating inside or outside on picnic tables. I sat outside to enjoy the weather and smell the carne asada being cooked on wood fired grill. Side note / tree hugger comment: They were a little wasteful with the plates... each taco came in its own separate basic.
