First time here! We came to celebrate a bachelorette in San Diego and wanted to eat at a restaurant with an ocean view! The view did not disappoint. Building is joined with another restaurant. Very disappointed with the service and overall experiences here. I've been here multiple times and the service every time has been lacking. The food has been average, the prices are on the high end, the service is slow, parking is $10, and the only highlight was the view. There are a few free parking stalls available. However, they close off a majority of the parking lot for the $10 valet. It was annoying, because the parking lot was half empty, but roped off for paid parking. We had reservations, but still had to wait some time. The restaurant is by the harbor and has a beautiful view. We were seated outside and had a view of the harbor. We had whiffs of sewage throughout dinner, and it was unknown if that was from the harbor or some busted pipe somewhere. There is a 25% gratuity added to groups 6 or more. Which isn't a problem, however, we rarely were checked on. We had to flag them down if something was needed and would wait long periods of time to be helped. The food was alright, nothing memorable, and the portions were small for the price. Overall I have never been impressed with this place. Out of the many times I've eaten here, I have left disappointed. If you're looking for a view, go somewhere else. read more

C Level Wagyu Burger with truffle fries (7/10): A pretty decent, average burger. You can choose your own cheese and how your meat is cooked. The truffle fries had the perfect crisp to potato ratio and a generous amount of parmesan. Ricotta, Pesto & Spinach Lasagna (8/10): A unique mix of flavors with artichoke pieces and a noticeable pesto taste. It was cheesy, creamy, and served hot in a skillet. The leafy floral garnish also made the presentation really pretty. Crispy Calamari (7.5/10): The coating was more flaky than crunchy. It tasted like it was fried in coconut oil because it had a light coconut flavor. The sweet and sour sauce paired well with it, but it was on the saltier side. I've been coming here for years and it's honestly my favorite waterfront restaurant in San Diego for dinner with a view. My new birthday tradition is treating myself to a solo birthday dinner here during golden hour and watching the boats and jet skis go by with the San Diego skyline in the background. The ceviche verde is delicious and has just the right amount of spice. For my birthday I got the complimentary strawberry shortcake which was light and not overly sweet. The manager even came over to wish me a happy birthday which was such a thoughtful touch. I had such a nice evening. If you're looking for a great date night, birthday dinner, or even a peaceful solo dinner with beautiful bay views, I'd definitely recommend this spot. A couple tips: Try to make a reservation for a table outside. They have outdoor heaters but I always try to bring a jacket just in case I get cold. Also I would recommend booking for about an hour before sunset although there really isn't a bad time to go. Yesterday when I went, it was a Sunday night so it was fairly busy. One thing to keep in mind is that the parking lot is pretty small, so I'd give yourself a little extra time in case you need to find parking nearby. The wait staff was very courteous and rapid. My water was constantly being filled! The skyline view from the outdoor seating area is probably the best view I've had in a restaurant in San Diego. I especially love the sight of the Coronado Bridge. Absolutely aesthetic! For my order, I had the Lobster Bisque and C Level Wagyu Burger. The Lobster Bisque was tasty but I had expected a stronger lobster flavor. I had the lobster bisque at its sister restaurant Island Prime a long time ago and remember the lobster flavor being punchier. As for the burger, you can taste quality in the patty. However, the burger could have used more seasoning. The bacon was delicious--as were the included Parmesan fries which were perfect in texture. This restaurant encompasses beautiful views of the Downtown skyline. We were seated right away after about a five minute wait. I did have a reservation on OpenTable but when we got there, there were several challenges I believe in the seating area. Once we were seated, I noticed Chef Deborah walking around. She was greeting customers and being her very friendly and professional self. I was so impressed. We ordered.: Tempura Artichoke Appetizer, Fish and Chips, and a Chicken Caesar Salad. Everything was DELICIOUS! It was also awesome because Chef Deborah came by to greet us and talk to us and I had a chance to express how much I really like her Casa Gabriella restaurant in La Mesa. I told her how I have been a fan of her restaurants for a long time and I absolutely miss Bo Beau that used to be in Hillcrest, and then Ocean Beach. She updated me that it is now located in Long Beach, which is still good to know. Being able to dine and speak with the actual executive chef of this brand was awesome. Such an amazing place! Everything about this restaurant was fantastic--the view, the employees, the food, the atmosphere, and the overall vibe. The fish and chips were delicious. The fish was perfectly battered, crispy on the outside, and flaky white on the inside. The fries were also nice and crispy. We also ordered the blackened fish tacos, which were packed with flavor from the very first bite. The service was excellent. The staff was attentive, professional, and welcoming. Several employees regularly checked on us throughout our meal to make sure everything was going well. The outdoor seating offers an incredible view of downtown San Diego, with boats passing by in the harbor. Combined with the perfect weather, it made for a wonderful dining experience. Beautiful views, lackluster service on a special birthday night. Took my girlfriend to C Level for my birthday expecting a memorable evening by the water. The ocean views were stunning even from our corner table by the plants, and the ambiance is top-tier. Unfortunately, things went sideways early. When I accidentally knocked over our waters and one glass broke, I quickly cleaned up the glass and ice myself. It took several minutes for staff to arrive and assist. The busboy brought a wet towel for a wet table, leaving menus soaked and our seat soggy. We never received new menus or dry towels -- I ended up handling most of the cleanup and my girl grabbed silverware from a neighboring table. Our waitress seemed distracted and gave very dry, hesitant responses when we asked for appetizer recommendations. As someone with deep respect for service industry workers (my mom's been a waitress for 30 years), I tried keeping the energy light with jokes, but the overall service felt disconnected. We understand everyone has off days, and the food recommendation we eventually got was solid. However, for a special birthday dinner at a spot with such incredible views, the service fell short of the setting. One of the main reason was the service, well, I can only based on the service from the waiter I had. We purchased a "romantic package" which includes a half bottle of champagne and rose petals on the table. This should give the wait staff a very clear indication that we were celebrating a special occasion. However, the waiter did not acknowledge anything. In addition, he appeared to be kind of depressed and acted like he didn't really care his job! After our meal, once the dishes were taken away, there was some scraps of the food on the table and he didn't even bother to clean it up. So.... It's kind of disappointing for us. We had a party of 15 and from the planning process to the actual dinner, the restaurant made the entire experience feel special and seamless. Our employees absolutely loved it. The views are honestly second to none. Watching the San Diego skyline and water during dinner created such an incredible atmosphere. The service was outstanding from start to finish and the food completely lived up to the hype. I had the lobster mac and cheese and it was unlike anything I've ever had. Rich, flavorful, and worth every bite. Then dessert happened. Our server insisted I couldn't leave without trying the peanut butter brownie ice cream dessert and now I fully understand why. Unreal. We were impressed with the coconut shrimp and both agree it was the best we've ever had! We both love good shrimp. While checking in, the staff member we spoke with wasn't very friendly. Even though there were still many open tables, we were assigned a table behind a person in a wheelchair. Since we had a small child who needed a high chair and my husband is quite tall, the space felt very cramped, and our stomachs were against the table the whole time while we were eating. During our meal, my husband asked one of the staff members where the restroom was, but she didn't seem happy to help because her conversation with another staff member was interrupted. We did have some nice interactions with other staff, but those two ladies did not make a very good first impression. The food tasted good overall, but many of the mussels we ordered were empty shells. The ahi was fresh and cooked perfectly, and they were very nice to help us put the Ahi in two plates for us to share. I've been here many times and the food is consistently on point every single visit. No off nights, no "maybe we just caught them on a good day" -- it's just solid every time. And the view? I've been wanting to come here for the longest time, and finally did during the first day of San Diego Restaurant Week. The evening was a complete disappointment, here's why... It started off with 3/4 of the parking spaces being reserved for valet only. It looks like C-Level, Island Prime, and Coasterra decided to convert their joint private lot into a money-making opportunity. I had dined at Coasterra about 1 1/2 years ago and it was free back then. I don't know when they decided to take away 3/4 of the parking spaces, leaving just a very small section that was free. Four of us ordered from the SDRW menu for $50 each and the smart one just ordered fish and chips. I had such high expectations but was deeply disappointed. I chose the salad as my starter. I asked for dressing on the side. They set my dressing on the side, but decided to just give me mixed greens, nothing else. One of my friends got a salad that came with cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, nuts and cheese. Mine looked too pathetic to be photographed... One of my friends and I got the ahi & salmon poke. It looked appealing at first glance, but it was flavorless. There was no sauce on it, nothing. They apparently forgot and we had to ask for ponzu, which was brought out about 10 minutes later. Aside from the flavorless bowl, there were other issues with this dish. There were hardly any fish, and the bowl consisted mainly of white rice. I would say more than 3/4 of it was rice. For dessert, I selected the key lime tart. I expected a regular sized dessert. Instead, I got a mini tart. It didn't taste good, so I suppose it wasn't too bad that it was small because I wouldn't have eaten it anyway. The meal was definitely not worth $50! It was overpriced and underwhelming. This was notably the saddest salad I've had and the most disappointing poke bowl. The dessert was a disappointment as well. Two of my friends got the lobster Mac and cheese as part of their SDRW experience and commented that it was a tiny kid-sized portion with barely any lobster. Except for the friend who ordered the fish and chips, we were very disappointed and walked away hungry. The evening was a disappointment and service was pretty bad as well. It was unfortunate that we had to pay a 5% surcharge on top of the overpriced meal. It would be nice if we could get our money back! Definitely do not recommend this restaurant.... A 3-star review is considered average. My experience was below average; therefore, a 2-star is my overall rating. read more
