I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a couple years and now that I'm back in SD I was able to. Upon arrival when we checking in for our reservation there were 4 hosts and they were all standing there awkwardly and staring at us. They didn't greet us till a few moments passed with neither party saying anything. Our server was great, attentive, and friendly. We got two cocktails and they were both really good. We started with the Wagyu Tartare and it was okay the potato chips were overly salted, stale, and we could barely taste the tartare. We also got the Wagyu burger and Lobster Mac n Cheese. The burger was really good! We would get that again, as well as the Parmesan fries that came with it. The fries were cooked and seasoned perfectly, crispy on the outside and soft in the center. The mac n cheese was good, we could definitely taste the lobster, we thought it could have been seasoned more, it lacked over all flavor. The ambience of the restaurant was nice and intimate, with a good view of the bay and downtown. Nothing stood out enough for me to want to come back unfortunately. Amazing dining experience right on the water. One of the best chicken dishes I've ever tasted. The chicken piccata was perfect. Extremely hot and juicy, somehow done without burning the Parmesan crust. I loved the fact that everything that was plated was packed full of flavor down to the garnishes. The slaw next to the coconut shrimp was exceptional and could easily be eaten on its own. Lobster bisque had one of the best croutons I've ever had as well, soft and crunchy at the same time so it could hold up to the bisque. The crust on the Brie was great to eat with the crostini as it added some great texture. Service was great as well, attentive without being too intrusive. Our server made recommendations and ensured we always had everything we needed. We ordered all four courses up front and were able to enjoy a very efficient dinner service. The ambiance is second to none. We sat on the patio right against the glass and had an unobstructed view of the downtown skyline and the Coronado bridge. Super cute spot with great food. Came here for happy hour with a few friends in the middle of the week. Wasn't too busy around 3:00 and we were able to snag a table along the edge of the water. Fantastic views of San Diego with plenty of shade. The patio area is really nice, great ambiance. Definitely nice spot for a date. We got everything on the happy hour menu. Everything came out quick, plated nicely, and we liked all of it. I'd say definitely the steamed muscles and the coconut shrimp. The sauce for the muscles was so tasty we kept it to dip our bread in. The potstickers were ok but not better than anything you couldn't get at a million other restaurants. Calamari was also standard issue. What really wowed us was the tuna melt. I can easily say this is one of the best tuna melts I've had in a long time. They pack this things with tuna! The jalapeno sourdough is chef's kiss and really adds to the flavor. Met some friends here for lunch on Sunday - how did I pick it, you may ask? The other places I looked at specifically for view and seafood were all offering brunch at that time of day, sadly most brunch menus include a whole lotta egg in their offerings (something I cannot eat). The menu has a good variety of items. One of the first things I noticed was that they offered a lemon-caper aioli as a vegan item (which is super exciting, because for some reason Amercian restaurants insist on using mayonnaise in their aioli). There were a few tiems on the menu that I was eyeing and the waiter said they had egg (lobster mac n'cheese, lobster fontina BLT) I settled on the blackened fish tacos - sans slaw if it's mayo-based. One of my dining mates also ordered it (regular version), I was saddened to see that she got the aioli and I did not (I guess it did have egg?). It was pretty good but really needed something on it, probably that aioli. The two other people we were eating with both ordered the lobster & fontina BLT, which looked SPECTACULAR. It appeared they enjoyed it. The view is fabulous, you can see NAS North Island (on Coronado) and downtown SD, too. Their cocktail menu looked pretty good, we just had beers so I can't speak to it. Bathrooms are clean Outdoor seating is really nice. It's covered and they've got see-thru blinds to help you from getting blinded by the sun off the ocean. I'd have given this only 3 stars based solely on my meal, but my seatmates were very happy with theirs and you just cannot beat this view. (AND we took the bus to the airport and walked over, I love the public transportation here) We'll definitely visit again, I'd like to find out more about their vegan aioli and there were a couple of other things I was eyeing. One year later and we are back to c level but this time to enjoy their stellar happy hour! We had friends in town for our wedding and decided to meet here for happy hour before going back home and I am glad we discovered it. There were plenty of options of appetizers to enjoy with the table as well as cocktails. They also had a few beers and wines on happy hour so it was nice to have a variety of things to pick from. My favorite items were probably the coconut shrimp and the calamari. Any seat in this place is a great seat whether you are inside or outside. My husband and I came here to celebrate our 8 year anniversary and I thought overall the food was delicious 5/5 but the service was a bit lacking. For starters my husband let open table (reservations) know we were celebrating and to have a good seat for us outdoors and we initially got sat in the middle in between a lot going on outside where we couldn't even see the view. Maybe we should have been more clear but the issue was resolved after we asked specifically for an ocean view table but the front said it'll be a 30 minute wait and we were happy to do so since we're coming from out of state. For drinks I ordered the mai tai and my husband got an IPA. Then for our meals I order the lobster & fontina blt which I thought was good but they filled the sandwich less practical and for more presentation since the filling was pushed to the front and it kept spilling making it hard to eat so I ate it with a knife and fork. My husband ordered the seafood pappardelle pasta and it was delicious. The seafood tasted fresh but the bread was a little stale. The ambiance was good, it's always amazing to be near the water and the view outdoors at night was breathtaking. But I don't know if it was just because they were closing and wanted to hurry but they kept slamming and clinking the dishes together when putting them away at the bar area behind us. I'm so sad to write this review. I've been wanting to come here for a while now as a San Diegan native and I've always seen it recommended on Yelp when I'm in the area of downtown. I was so ready to have some hand crafted cocktails, enjoy some yummy happy hour eats, and to enjoy the view of the water. We went during happy hour on Friday afternoon around 3:30. Upon arrival, the hostess stand had 3 hostesses/servers standing there. I was second in line and they helped the people in front of me. They then continued to have conversation without saying hello or a simple greeting, which honestly I felt was odd. Not even a "hello we will be right with you" which is standard in hospitality. We eventually put the name in and I told them I wanted to enjoy happy hour. They asked where I wanted to be seated, and I said outside would be great. We waited about 10 minutes to be seated. They sat us outside as I had asked and we were seated at a table with a view of the water. It then took a while before we were given any service upon being seated. We received water from a busser after 5 minutes and it took our server probably ten minutes to greet us (it was not that busy yet and they had a lot of staff outside on the patio). We ordered drinks on happy hour...the Cabrillo Cooler to start out and then I got the Isla Margarita. The Carrillo Cooler was SO SWEET... I felt like I was back to being 21 ordering a dirty Shirley or something. That was a bit of a let down as I expect to have decently made and well crafted cocktails for happy hour in San Diego (there is a lot of competition-including Coasterra next door). I should have known better than to order the Isla Margarita after that initial drink, especially based on the ingredients, but I thought... "oh something different maybe it's yummy... a different take on a margarita." Well it came out looking very pink, chunky even, and with a cherry on top. That was my clue that I made a mistake. Needless to say, it tasted like Gerber Banana Baby food. For HH apps, we ordered the Caesar salad (which arrived with brown lettuce and an orange colored Ceasar dressing), the potstickers, and the calamari. The calamari was okay. The potstickers were alright as well but drenched in overly sweet sauce. It seemed as though they threw 3 day old bagged romaine lettuce on a plate, fried up some day old potstickers, and I don't really even want to think about where the calamari was from. After that, we left and went next door to Coasterra, which had much better service upon arrival and throughout our dining experience. The happy hour drinks were the same price as C Level's and they were handcrafted, not batched made, and not overly sweet with the correct balance of flavors. Coasterra even had a better view of the water and downtown. Save your money if you're planning to go to C Level or have also been eyeing it on yelp/open table. Don't be hoodwinked like I was. We had fun chatting with our guests next to our tables. We also got the banana, white champagne and raspberry sorbet and I must say the banana flavor is growing on me. Also I couldn't snag a table by the window - I would have had to wait an additional 15 minutes. 4 stars for the lobster bisque- it was delish! 2 stars for the 5% charge on your bill on top of your meal. 2 stars for the coconut shrimp - it was dry and not flavorful. Also the vegetable portion it sat on top of was not tasty either. Also the tables are too tall for the chairs so you feel like you need a booster seat. Looking at the prices beforehand, I was worried that the food would be lacking in quantity or taste, but after my experience, I think that this restaurant is good value. It wasn't super heavy and the variety of seafood was a plus. The Lobster Mac and Cheese was very rich! Im glad that I was able to take bites of just lobster. Other places incorporate the Lobster into the Mac and Cheese too much, where you barely get any meat and just lobster flavor. The fish and chips were good and the fries were crispy. Parking is valet starting in the late afternoon. But I came on a weekday for lunch so it was normal self-parking in the lot. Service was okay. I made a reservation and we got seated in a reasonable amount of time. However, we had to wait a while to order, since our server wasn't around and the other staff members were less attentive. We tried waving to them a couple times (to two staff walking by and to a staffer who stands in one place and looks at the tables). I don't know why this place's ratings are so high. Food, service, and ambiance was MID. Even though there is a beautiful view when you sit outside, they only bring the heaters out at night because they have umbrellas up before sunset. I was freezing for a while, so you should probably wear layers if you come here. That was the least of my problems with my experience though, and you could say that it was my fault for not wearing extra sweaters and jackets anyways. There was a wait before we were seated, and everyone seemed like they were in a rush. It was difficult to flag down our server, too. However, I don't blame the bad service on the employees because being understaffed isn't their fault. I'm perfectly fine with waiting for good food, but there seems to be a recurrent management problem with staffing based on my experience and other reviews. Now, on to the food (that took a while to come out). We ordered the ahi tuna and salmon poke, coconut shrimp, island prime's lobster bisque, and seafood pappardelle pasta. The lobster bisque and coconut shrimp were decent, but the sauce on the latter was too sweet. I would not recommend the poke. It wasn't inedible or anything, but I expected more. I've had better poke for half the price; nothing made it stand out. I also had to ask for more sauce to make it taste better (the sauce did not stand out either, though). The pasta was not really memorable, but I recall finishing it over the poke. We also got drinks and dessert, which were also whatever and not really memorable. Not only is the food overpriced, but there's a surcharge/service fee/whatever-they-want-to-call it that they tack onto your bill. This fee doesn't even go to the servers/employees! I asked for it to be removed because that is just ridiculous. They're probably trying to trick you into thinking that's part of the tip when it actually goes into the owner's pockets. I usually just avoid leaving a review (especially for mom-and-pops) if our experience at a restaurant did not meet our expectations, but I think this place will survive based on how busy it seems. After I took a bite, I literally couldn't even speak. The flavors were pure PERFECTION. The salmon was perfectly crisp on the outside, and flavorful and juicy on the inside. The linguine was the star of the show though, boasting a pasta sauce that is out of this world. I can't even describe it. It's slightly creamy, full-bodied, and peppery. The sauce paired with the squid ink pasta was to die for. I will think about this meal for years to come haha. My husband ordered the seafood pappardelle, which was ENORMOUS and full of seafood. Mussels, white fish, scallops, shrimp... it was all there. The pasta is a wide noodle, and everything is layered with their pesto sauce. He loved it a lot and had to REALLY try to finish it. I really liked how they offered the option to swap out fries/chips for a salad instead. Recently I have gotten tired of eating through a mound of fries with my fish and chips. Having the side salad option instead is a total game changer. You leave feeling nowhere near as heavy/greasy and you still get to enjoy some nicely battered and fried fish. They do a great job here with the panko crust! Some places try to do the beer battered version and you can just taste the beer notes on the fish which are not very pleasant. We were running behind on time and I called the restaurant to move our reservation later and they said no problem! When we finally got there we had to do valet ($10) and there wasn't much parking. We checked in and the hostess let us know we can either sit inside or wait a few minutes for a table outside on the patio right by the water. We chose to wait. After a few minutes we were sat right by the water with stunning views of downtown SD, Coronado Bridge as well as Coronado Island! We settled in and began to order. We ordered the BLT Wedge Salad, Lobster Mac n Cheese & Parmesan Chicken Piccata. I can only speak for what I ordered (Seafood Pasta). My Seafood Pasta was a bit on the oily side (since the base was Pesto). But what made up for it was that there was a good portion of seafood mixed in! It definitely can be shared. (8/10). From what I heard from my group, the BLT salad was good. My boyfriend added the chili flakes from my pasta to give it a kick. Our one friend said the lobster mac n cheese had little to no flavor so she did have to ask for some hot sauce. After that she loved her dish. Overall we'd rate this place a 8/10. Service was good, food was good and prices were fair for the portions. Come for the views and make sure to book a reservation! I can't wait to come back to try more food! read more

Really nice dinner in this gorgeous setting right on the water. I had Parmesan Chicken Piccata on artichokes and mashed potatoes which was really enough for two meals. Super dish. Chicken potstickers were good and the bartender makes a solid old fashioned. read more
