Is in a great location right in downtown San Diego, but parking is honestly terrible. The closest and easiest option is using the valet about two blocks away through the Hilton Hotel. Good luck trying to find street parking or even parking in a nearby garage during busy hours. It would definitely be a huge plus if the restaurant offered valet service themselves. Once we got inside, we waited about 15 minutes for a table, which wasn't too bad considering how busy it was. The food was excellent, the service was great, and the staff was very friendly and attentive throughout the entire experience. Overall, despite the parking situation, we really enjoyed our visit and would come back again.

As someone who grew up in San Diego I can confidently say this is one of the best steakhouses in downtown. I would say it's only real competition is Cowboy Star because all the others either left or fell off, Born & Raised is pretty but the food is mid. It's located in one of the busiest parts of downtown in the heart of Gaslamp right across from the convention center. Parking can be tricky however we found a metered spot on the street directly in front of the restaurant for our 7 PM dinner so we got very lucky. Otherwise they offer valet parking at the Hilton or you can choose one of the many pay lots around. Inside the restaurant is very large with many different dining areas and a full bar. It has a very classic theme to it very similar to an East Coast steakhouse. Our server was extremely polite and everything came out surprisingly fast. They have a very large menu filled with all sorts of great options on it, so it took some time to choose. I finally settled with starting the meal off with a Grilled Jumbo Artichoke which I thought was wonderful. Next came the Roasted Beet Salad, which I also really enjoyed. The Humboldt Fog blue cheese with it was a great combo. For my entrée I chose the 10oz Barrel Cut Filet Mignon and thought it was absolutely fantastic. It was one of the better ones I've had recently and I would highly recommend. Overall, this is a fantastic restaurant in a really lively part of San Diego and I would recommend to anyone.

Phenomenal steakhouse and seafood restaurant. Stopped in for a dinner with family during our spring break. They didn't disappoint. Our server gave fantastic advice on the selections. The oysters are the absolute best! The crab cakes are delicious! And the filet mignon.....Perfection. One can also not forget, there is always room for dessert. The apple tart and key lime pie are a little piece of heaven. Looking forward to returning in the future!

great place for steak & seafood. We ordered the calamari, teriyaki filet mignon, chicken Cesar salad, sirloin & cocktails and were not disappointed. Service was on point, attentive and friendly. It is a bit pricey but food was superb. Cocktails were average but overall good spot. My only issue was when you sit on the patio you are going to smell the sewage which makes it difficult to enjoy the meal but the food is delicious. Ambiance is classy and upscale, very nice

Date Night at Lou & Mickey's. Food= Oysters: delicious and fresh. The Habanero Lime Relish! Clam Chowder: great taste and texture. Mushrooms: highly recommend! Mac and Cheese: delicious crispy topping and great flavor. Fillet Medallions: 10/10 absolutely amazing, cooked to perfection and so tender. 6oz A5 New York: disappointment. Very tender but surprisingly lacking in flavor. Service= Our waiter was wonderful, very attentive, friendly, and helped me pick the perfect wine for the oysters. Ambiance= Perfect date‑night spot. We chose indoor seating since it was a bit chilly outside, and it felt cozy and comfortable. Drinks= The cocktails were delicious, and I loved that each one came with a napkin featuring a photo and description of the drink. Super cute touch! Great location, great experience. Even the bathrooms impressed me (hooks for purses, huge win!). I'd definitely go back. My husband said he won't order the Wagyu again, but he loved my medallions. YUM!

This place is great in the middle of gas lamp. I went with my X boss always has good cuisine and he has refined taste. He likes to eat well and he only dies in the most expensive/high cuisine places around the world so taking him out was a challenge this place however delivers excellent food in a beautiful ambience with professional great service wines are fantastic and their selections of wines are catered to the meat server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and the wines that we would pair with the food. Don't have a picture for the appetizer. That was great as well if you want great steak, great meat, delicious wines in the heart of gas lamp come here .!

Wow! First time ever at an actual steakhouse, and I'm happy that I gave Lou and Mickeys a chance. Me and my date had took the bar seating, the open patio seating overlooking the city was beautiful as well, a great use of space. The lovely bartender tended us with intent and gratitude. I ordered me a dirty martini timpani along with some oysters thay I have ordered. The 1/2 dozen. Tge oysters are very fresh, tge ones that I have indulged in were very salty. Not like a spoiled salty, but a sea salty.. a lovely fresh oyster. My main dish was the pasta that paired along with the clams, as well as a dirty martini. The pasta was cooked to perfection as well as the sauce. Went very well with the clams. From a short trip from Los Angeles to San Diego, if I ever was to come back ago glaslamp, this restaurant is the first stop I'm going to make to indulge in my martinis and oysters!

Came here in between lunch and dinner service for a snack/ pick me up during a conference. The clam chowder and oyster sampler was awesome! In the Gaslamp district. Great service too!

I feel so lucky to have dined here! It's an old-school steakhouse with dark interiors and a meat locker! We were seated in the back of the restaurant. He ordered the margarita verde and I opted for a mocktail. Both drinks were refreshing and delicious. Complimentary bread rolls and butter was brought out. The rolls were nice and warm. We shared the artichoke as our appetizer and they were perfectly charred. For our main entree, we got the t-bone steak and mac n cheese as our side. The steak was perfectly aged and sauce was the perfect complement. We saved room for dessert too, which was a rich cheesecake. Service was very attentive and excellent. I need to back again ASAP LOL.

So disappointed Walked in to a lots of open tables. I admit I didn't have a reservation. They told us 45 minutes, but when I look we were the only ones in the wait list. No way they are fully booked with reservations, it's Gaslamp. We left after 15 minutes and 5 different parties leaving with us still having a 45 minute wait. The staff really make the difference between a 1 & 5 star.

12/27/2025 We had dinner here since it was an easy couple minute walk from our hotel. It is located right at the west (?) end of the Gaslamp Quarter, closer to the convention center. We chose outside seating since the pouring rain finally stopped. It was also nice to people watch as we ate. Our server, Eric, was friendly and attentive. We were able to get our salad and potato split when we told him we were sharing them. Our food was pretty good. Hubby's salmon was cooked well, though it was a smaller portion than he anticipated. Luckily I had more than enough lobster tails to share with my Baked Twin Lobster Tail order. One tail was cooked really well - tender and flavorful. But for some reason the second tail just tasted okay. Parts of the second tail seemed overdone and dry. The wedge salad was ginormous! I think we each had a half of a lettuce head each. HAHAHA! The baked potato was cooked well and was almost the length of my fork.

We were staying at the Omni hotel and were so happy to find that Lou & Mickey's was the next block over. We were able to walk in and be seated after leaving a Padres game early. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating. The patio looks great for people watching. The interior gives old school classy steakhouse vibes. Christina was our server. She provided amazing service for us. I started off with the Fifth Avenue cocktail which was refreshing and light. We shared the sirloin cap which we asked to be sliced and the garlic shrimp which were huge. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium temperature and had such good flavor and seasoning that steak sauce wasn't needed. We also split the roasted broccolini which had tahini and feta cheese. Christina brought out a slice of chocolate cake for my son's birthday which was the perfect ending to our meal. A big slice of chocolate cake with gooey frosting alongside whipped cream and vanilla ice cream hit the spot after our dinner. There are so many steakhouses to dine at in the Gaslamp Quarter. Lou & Mickey's should definitely be on your list.

Our reservations were early, arriving on time @ 5:30 it was a bit quiet with only two other tables, but not for long. In no time every single table was filled. The restaurant was busy and the wine was a'flowin'! This quaint and very special restaurant reminds me of a small restaurant in San Diego in the 1980's, "Ciao Bella". It was located downtown on 4th Ave., it was also chef-owned. When you dine at a chef owned restaurant you are most likely destined for greatness, or a great meal! This is the case at Angela's Kitchen 'Carbon', because there is pure authenticity in her dishes and a whole lotta' love delivered in each plate. The subtle, warm decor is welcoming and the music is played at the perfect level. Just the right ambiance. Once seated, you'll be promptly greeted and the attentive wait staff will have your wine delivered pronto. What a selection they have. I started with the prosecco and moved on to the Sangiovese which complimented my pappardelle perfectly. My friend ordered the grilled salmon and had the Montepulciano Abate Pietro. The delivery of their fresh bread with garlicky pesto, and another with tomato, which I think was a focaccia. Just amazing. We asked for olive oil to compliment the bread: it was the very best of quality with a dark Sicilian olive green hue and the smoothness with the polyphenols and antioxidants dancing in my mouth. Yum! I asked for a side of Parmigiano and they brought a nice square ramekin full of finely grated cheese, Perfection!! These are the details that make me fall in love with a restaurant, causing me to return again and again. Both of our entrees were executed perfectly, the vegetables were grilled leaving a slight char, and the salmon was grilled just right leaving a tender center. My pappardelle was dressed in the deepest, richest mushroom + beef cheek fusion of flavors with whispers of some kind of red wine like maybe the Nero d'Avola that they feature on the menu. WoW!! This is a dish that you want to take your time savoring. Every bite surpassed the last, and then a sip of the Sangiovese and I was in fresh pasta heaven. Just when we were winding down and reeling from being overwhelmed by the amazing food, Angela came to our table with cannoli. It too was amazing! This was such a kind and unexpected gesture from the chef/owner. Grazie mille, a domani!

I was really impressed that u had a place to set my feet on because I'm very short and normally have a hard time with regular bar seats. There are a lot of cute touches like that. Hooks to hold your purse, etc. I was loving the soulful music which I thought was from a playlist so I used Shazam in order to capture the song. However, the music started to sound live so I walked around...only to find it was coming from a very talented woman named Marianne across the bar. Service was friendly, but we both noticed other tables were a bit ignored or slow to be served. We ordered a few margaritas. Cesar salad with chicken and the lobster arrabbiata with table-side Parmesan. The food was great. I'm not a big focaccia lover but there's was the best I've ever had. It was warm, light, airy, fluffy, and came with this amazing butter AND olive oil, balsamic rosemary. We used the bread to dip into the leftover pasta sauce. We ordered margaritas. He picked the place, and after I reviewed the menu once he had made the reservation, I was excited to dine here. Even though we were seated on the patio, the first thing I noticed is how LOUD this restaurant is...even outdoors. It's even louder inside because I poked my head in just to see what the decor is like. On the patio, it was so loud, we practically had to shout at one another from across the table just to be heard. It is very distracting, and the noise levels contribute overall to a lack of ambiance. Simply stated, the acoustic here are terrible. The second thing I noticed is how EXPENSIVE this joint is, even for an upscale steakhouse. $22 ($18 plus a $4 surcharge for "loaded") for a loaded baked potato? Come on, now. That's outrageous. For my entree, I ordered the 16-ounce ribeye ($74) with a gorgonzola crust ($8 extra), and it came to my table lukewarm because it had been sitting on the hot plate for too long, so I sent it back. If I'm ordering an $82 piece of meat, it better be delivered to me SIZZLING and cooked properly. When my second steak arrived, it was only a little bit hotter, but not much. In addition, the kitchen gave me a piece of beef that was NOT 16 ounces (more like 12 ounces)...and it was riddled with way too much fat/gristle. To add insult to injury, the chef was quite skimpy with the gorgonzola cheese, so I just let it go. What a travesty when a steakhouse doesn't know how to properly cook and serve beef...and then charges guests an arm and a leg for less-than-mediocre food. To be fair to The Amalfi Llama, the manager on duty did come to my table to personally handle my complaint, and she also served the second steak to me herself. In addition, the restaurant removed the steak from my bill, but by that time, the damage had been done. I won't be returning...ever. When it comes to steakhouses, I'd much rather go to Ruth's Chris, Morton's and The Palm any day of the week...both of which are far more consistent and worth the money.
