My family & I came here to celebrate my mom's 70th birthday & had a wonderful time. We came for their Prime Rib Thursday Special, & luckily, they had enough for us. I recommend coming early in case they run out! Our server was training & both of them were fantastic! So friendly & gave great recommendations. The restaurant was cozy & warm, & drinks were great. Thank you for the birthday dessert & making my mom's day extra special!
4.5 if I could give half stars! I was in the San Diego area celebrating my birthday and decided to make a reservation for Moe's in Mission Beach. We had a fantastic experience and I really enjoyed the small touches like the birthday card and free mini butter cake. The staff was all friendly, especially the manager. The food was phenomenal and so were the cocktails. It's dark and moody-- great for date night. Highly recommend!
Ate here on my birthday in May, the food was pretty good nothing too special. The service was okay they were kind but not very attentive. The atmosphere was great loved the vibe of the restaurant. Maybe what we ordered wasn't their best but I'm not sure I'd return.
Excellent selection of spirits (Top Shelf)! Food was amazing. Steaks cooked to perfection. A bit on the pricy side, but worth it in my opinion. The duck was also cooked perfectly with a crispy seasoned skin that was spot on. We ordered the crispy mushrooms. Not what we expected but so good we ordered another dish with our dinner. We had the Basque Cheesecake and the Crème Brûlée. Both were outstanding. The restaurant itself has a rich mahogany feel and comfortable booths. Our waiter was always checking on us and making sure we had everything we need The family had a great first experience and will be back for more! Cheers!
I loved Moe's. We were staying nearby and eyed this place as a must visit, and were able to stop in after a lonnng day and had the best service from Caitlin. We enjoyed sitting in a booth in the bar area. Cocktails were a great start: martinis and old fashioneds. Up next was the salad: Caesar and wedge. Caesar was TOP NOTCH. For mains we enjoyed the filet with the best horseradish cream, Cacio e Pepe and Braised Beef Cheek Tortelloni. The flavor of the tortelloni was literally SOOO good. If I had to get only one thing, I'd recommend that. I'd go back here in a heart beat. Only downside was that they were out of baked potatoes.
Ambiance is drive bar vibes meets old school steakhouse vibes. Food was good. First course garlic knots we were not impressed with those, nothing too special just regular garlic knots & not good ones. Caesar's salad was amaaaaaazingggg very fresh & fishy tasting topped w dried prosciutto of some sort. Wagyu was very good, very rich a bit over salted but over all a nice dish. Potatoes were good they were definitely not a purée but we very yummy. Duck was interesting, my friend who ordered it enjoyed it very much but both agreed it was also over salted. Now I will go back for the BUTTER CAKE it was everything, soft, flavorful, unlike any butter cake I've had. Service was 3/5
We visited Moe's for happy hour and this place is still one of my favorites in town. My top hits were the burger, French onion soup and the dirty martini with blue cheese olives. I didn't love the aioli on the sliders and I found the steak skewers to be tough and overdone for my liking although the mashed potatoes were delicious. Great service and always a cool vibe. Highly recommend!
Outstandingly disappointing experience. A complete waste of money- we will never go again. Steaks were cold, potions relatively small, service was basically nonexistent once we brought the cold steaks to the servers attention. They also seem to pre-cook their steaks and just warm them up. I would get that if it was a really super thick steak- most steakhouses cook them to order. Perhaps that's why the steaks were cold. They were just left out on a counter top.
I went there on a Thursday around 5 for Prime Rib Thursday. The food was delicious! The prime rib was cooked perfectly and the baked potato had excellent toppings on it. Not just butter and sour cream. Our drinks came almost immediately after we ordered them. I even commented on how fast it was. The bar area was casual but upscale food and service. Only negative is parking. I will return!
There has been a steakhouse in this location since the 1950s however this Moe's version has been open since 2022. It's a classic old school steakhouse but to me it feels more like a bar that serves food vs a steakhouse. Our server was very polite and was probably the highlight of the meal to be honest. The food itself was just OK but I really did like the ambience and it was definitely a lively and very loud place to have dinner. Parking is very difficult in this part of town, we were lucky to find a street spot a few blocks away, however, you may have to walk some blocks so be prepared for that. Inside is pretty small and darkly lit and the first thing you'll notice when you enter is the giant bar. There are tables next to that and in the back. We sat near the bar so it was extremely loud during our meal. We could hardly hear each other at the table, although it was nice to hear everyone having a good time. I started off with a French Onion Soup, which was actually very nice. It was a bit too salty but the broiled cheese on top made up for it, and I would say it was my favorite dish of the night. After that, I followed up with the Filet Mignon and thought it was just OK. It was a bit dry and lacked any sort of seasoning and just didn't have a lot of flavor. It was not bad but far from what some of the other steakhouses in San Diego would serve. Overall Moe's would be a nice option for a date if you live close by, but I would not suggest to people driving far or to those visiting San Diego. There are better options around town.

The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, but what truly elevated our experience was the incredible service and unforgettable food. Lorriane was an absolute gem--attentive without being intrusive, genuinely friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. She made excellent recommendations, anticipated our needs, and even remembered small details from our initial conversation. It felt like we were being hosted by a close friend who genuinely wanted us to have the best time possible. And the food? Absolutely phenomenal. Every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The appetizer we started with was great, the charcuterie board. The steaks, sides and pasta were cooked to perfection!!! Oh and the dessert....those were the ideal finish--rich but not overwhelming. You can tell the kitchen puts real thought and care into every plate. Dining here wasn't just a meal--it was a full experience, from the first greeting to the final bite. Thank you Lorriane and the others. We'll absolutely be back, and we'll be telling everyone we know to visit. A rare find where service and cuisine both shine at the highest level.
Ambiance-Outdoor dining at 7:00 pm super busy! Wowzer!!! What a great location to eat with a variety taste items for our group of 13. It was the best choice ever for our 75 birthday celebration for papa. Food- Nieto's (grandson #3- I had the linguini and clams, the clams and linguini were very garlicky, and toast on side was nice and crispy: nieto #8-i order the mixto diaspora it was delicious it had mussels,shrimp,and scallops it had a food taste to it I would recommend it: nieta #4- the seafood pasta noodly dish was great in flavor and had a chewy texture. The baked potato was a little over salted: nieto #6-the loaded baked potato is good and satiated my appetite #7 - Son #2 the aged duck and accoutrements were amazing and delicious, daughter in law #3 the calamari was Devine: nieta #1- had the 15oz ribeye and loved it, it had great flavor and a soft texture: nieta # 7- in my dish the New York steak 14oz it was a little bit to charcoal flavor for my taste, though over all the meat was a solid 8.5/10 I enjoyed the scenery of the place but the food was ok. Service- Toni our server was super, kind, attentive and patient with our group. The restaurant set up a table for 13 without reservations which was greatly appreciated. I highly recommend this spot if in the area of Mission Beach. I did something really, really different on this post- I included food reviews from different members of our family.
Took my family here and had an amazing experience from start to finish. We loved the atmosphere, and Gaza was such an attentive and welcoming server--truly made us feel taken care of. The entire staff was incredibly friendly, and the bartender made the perfect Ranch Water. We ordered the New York Strip with mashed potato purée and J1 sauce, and it was absolutely top-tier in both flavor and preparation. My family also tried the charcuterie board and loved it so much. Every bite was a hit. Overall, a fantastic experience made even better by having the game on (and the Rams winning!). We'll definitely be back.

Moe's is one of our favorites when we visit San Diego. Mission Beach is our happy place and Moe's is a big part of that beach community. The cocktails, service and food is all really solid but my favorite thing is the old school feel of the design. It's dark, warm and has a nostalgic Rat Pack vibe. We love the black and white photos throughout. Nothing better than meatball Mondays when they serve insanely good meatballs and homemade Bucatini pasta (pic 12). What better to accompany that deliciousness than some signature cocktails. Some of the fam loved the "Fields of Italy." (Pic 3) It's a fresh, crispy champagne cocktail made with vodka, Aperol, St. Germain, strawberry/basil jam, lemon and prosecco. It was perfect for a summer day. I had one of my favs that has been on the menu for a while now called "Party with Elvis." (Pic 5) It starts out like a boss with walnut-infused bourbon, Montenegro (Italian Amaro), tiki bitters, orange bitters and an orange garnish. It's exceptional!!! The last cocktail in the rotation was a traditional Manhattan that always goes perfect with a plate of Italian love (pic 13). It's always classic and the Moe's staff captures it perfectly with Basil Hayden bourbon, Antica sweet vermouth and angostura bitters. If you haven't been to Moe's, you should make the effort because they never disappoint. It's easy to find bright, fancy joints throughout San Diego, but they're an elevated old school gem that's hard to find. Delicious food and drinks. Old Hollywood vibes. They had a kids menu, so kid friendly. My daughter (3) liked both the Cacio e Pepe and French onion soup. The rest of the family had filets. The mushroom side is unique and definitely should try it. The fish was okay. read more

The moment we walked in to the restaurant we knew we were going to love it. It's cute, quaint and had a good ambiance. We came to celebrate my husbands birthday and he found this spot on our trip to Mission Beach. Our server Nick was AMAZING and recommended the best drinks and entrees for our special evening! They had a special not on the menu, mussels and sausage in white wine sauce, that was paired so nicely with my arrabbiata pasta and he recommended we add bacon to our potato purse which was fire. We will definitely be coming back the next time we are visiting. read more

***happy hour review*** I've been wanting to check out happy hour or "Social Hour" .as they call it, at Moe's for a while. First off, I like the ambience, I enjoy the dark/red steakhouse vibes. The bar also has some very comfy seats. We had the steak skewers (comes with mashed potatoes), the olives with goat cheese and the sliders. I thought they were all tasty. I also had an old fashioned for $9. I wish they had a few more HH drink options but it was all good. The only con is parking is tough around here. read more
This past visit was our favorite and most delicious to date. Everything we ate was cooked perfectly and flavors were on point The cacio e pepe is just unmatched by any other place I've tried at in SD. Definitely a reason we keep coming back. But they added this focaccia de recco bread service and HOLY SMOKES. We could have eaten 4 of these things. It was like a lil deep dish pizza but 10x better. And the fresh grated cheese on top just wonderful. It's def on the pricier side but I'd get it again haha It was also my friends birthday so we got the surprised with the butter cream cake and omg this was something I didn't know I needed in my life. 10/10 would get again. read more

Simply the best. No other way to say it. The wedge salad is honestly the best wedge I've ever had and the Gorgonzola is the beeeesst dressing. The steaks are (obviously) the best in PB/Mission Beach area (sorry to the haters that disagree) and the mashed potato puree? CMOOONN that's good. The ambiance is the coolest and their social hour is simply the best. Like yeah I want filet mignon skewers why wouldn't I? The only issue is the parking. Very limited street parking (especially on the weekends and summer) read more
Hubby planned a date night at Moe's. The restaurant has a dine in side while the other side is more of a casual bar type setting. We had reservations for the restaurant side. Our server was super nice and attentive. Hubby had the dirty martini while I had the espresso martini. There are only a few places that actually make an espresso martini really good and this is one of them. I went for the lobster pasta while hubby had the duck , both dishes I would highly recommend . We tried the mushroom dish for our sides it was just ok. (Wouldn't order again) We also ordered a side of mac & cheese which was so delicious (definitely order again) Moe's is a great place for a date night or you can swing by the other side for drinks if you want a lowkey vibe type of night. We will definitely be back! Plus it's just a walking distance from the ocean. Can't beat that too! read more

Food was fantastic, would've liked to see a bigger dessert menu, well greeted and checked on by other staff members more than the waiter, saw and heard him take his time and speak with the table next to me a lot more than he did with me, but it might have been that they were drinking a lot more than I was and would probably yield a better tip. Although I always tip more than 20%for above and beyond service and less for just doing the bare minimum. read more

We came in on a Saturday night for date night. We were very excited to check this spot out! The vibe is super fun. Really cozy atmosphere. My husband had the whiskey business cocktail. Definitely not a very well made drink. Average at best. Our server seemed sweet but the service was very rushed and we didn't see her much through our dinner. We had the wedge and French onion soup to start. Both were ok. For dinner we had the short rib and a baked potato. The short rib had potential to be incredible. The meat was cooked perfectly but the risotto was so overly salted it was basically inedible. Whoever was on risotto needs to taste it before sending it out. I think the salt shaker was accidentally dumped into the pot. We were both very disappointed. To spend $170 and get a meal that is just average is a big bummer. read more
It's been awhile since we've experienced such friendly and attentive service! My fiance chose where we made reservations for our anniversary dinner and I'm glad he found this spot because I never consider this area near Mission Bay when looking for food. What we ordered: * lemon pepper calamari * 14 oz NY strip steak with horseradish cream * loaded baked potato * linguini & clams Everything was delicious! The standouts to me were the calamari and linguini and clams (prob bc I'm a seafood girl). The calamari came with arugula and tomato's and a basil aioli that was *chefs kiss* Loved that we could have a very lovely meal in a nice outdoor setting bc we wanted our dog with us. Even though it was cold, it wasn't bad with the covered area and heaters. The staff were so sweet, super attentive, checking in pretty often but not an overwhelming amount of times (s/o to Toni!). They had cute touches like giving us an anniversary card and comped champagne and a dessert. Definitely would come back here or their sister restaurant next door! Moe's was everything I wanted it to be and more. I wanted a good steak for my birthday, and they delivered. They have an extensive liquor selection and wine list. The shrimp cocktail was the absolute best I've ever had. The garlic knots were airy and crispy, absolute perfection. The steaks were absolutely perfect, cannot say enough about how great this dinner was. It is so cozy, has an old school steakhouse vibe. The servers were knowledgeable and quick, looking forward to coming back. read more

I don't remember, but it is not a family place . It is a very expensive steak house and bar. Near Belmont is the Coaster Saloon, family friendly and outdoor eating, ribs burgers, etc. Or more south southern comfort, new menu, very good, kid…
