This is one of my favorite places located in OB. Located right below Wonderland is this oceanfront indoor-outdoor brunch spot. My favorite to continue to go back for is the cinnamon roll pancakes, comma. They also have an extensive dog menu, which is great for your furry friends to tag along too. The staff is always very friendly and tentative. They are always busy for weekend brunch with a line, but it moves pretty quickly depending on your group size. I've never had to wait more than five to ten minutes. Highly recommend the spot if you're looking for breakfast in OB.
A super convenient location right next to the beach and their patio is dog friendly! Our hotel was next door so it was easy to walk over, get a table and order. The waitress was super friendly, brought our drinks out and a water bowl for our two dogs. We got the bacon and eggs for our pups and my husband and I both ordered Dave's Breakfast. We also got a side of French toast that had me regretting not ordering the strawberry French toast. The single serving of French toast was so soft and delicious! The breakfast was good, a classic scramble, potatoes, bacon and sourdough. It was filling and exactly what we needed to get us ready for the beach. The dining area outside is shaded and whilst not the AZ dry heat the humidity wasn't bad(I also carry a hand fan with me everywhere and it helped!). A bit pricey, our two meals, the two pup orders and I got two iced coffee drinks, it was over $100 plus tip. But good food and service nonetheless. I'd definitely visit again if in that area for their lunch menu or that French toast.
Loved our Sunday brunch here. Reservation are definitely helpful but not mandatory. The place is wide open with the window walls letting in the nearby ocean breeze. Beautiful water view from most tables. Service was excellent. Lots of both healthy and decadent choices. I had the carnitas Benedict and subbed in one of their jalapeño cheese biscuits for the English muffin. Delicious and a huge meal. I even bought a t-shirt as a souvenir.
We got the açaí bowl and the avocado, bacon & cheese sandwich, and both were so good. Everything tasted fresh, the portions were great, and it was the perfect breakfast by the beach. Such a cute spot with a laid-back OB vibe. Definitely recommend and would come back!
They are right by OB beach and do have a large outdoor seating area with views of the water. I got the fried goat cheese salad and added on seared ahi. I really enjoyed it and would get it again . The tuna was seared perfectly and the salad had a great combo of flavors and who doesn't love fried goat cheese. We got the candied bacon to start which came with three slices and we would have described it as closer to a pork belly than bacon. My friends liked the mac and cheese. The Mediterranean wrap and burger got so so reviews. Our service was a little slow but we were a table of 10 so that tends to happen when you have a large group. They are dog friendly

There was chill oldies music not blasting in our ears so easy to make conversation. My partner got the Dave's combo and I got the carnivore scramble. Both were delicious. The bacon was perfectly thick (make sure to ask for it crispy). My carnivore was perfect but huge. I will be going back to try the biscuits and gravy we got a jalapeño biscuit to try and it was good.
I don't know where to start. Our hosts Shyla (hope I spelled your name right :) & Will our server, were patient with our table changing and such good energy and attitude. The champagne for mimosas was tasty. & THE FOOD was delicious. The beach to my right and the sun to my left was the perfect combination to a beautiful morning breakfast. The vibes were up and our belly's were full. More than enough food in a good way. We will be back.
Just got into town for the weekend, stopped for a little brunch with a view! Thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Pesto Baked Eggs for me and chilaquiles for my son. Fast and friendly service, highly recommended!
This was such a fun place to come to for a delicious brunch in Ocean Beach! They have both inside and outside seating, and are dog-friendly (with a special menu just for your furry friend). The outdoor seating seems more like group seating -- there were some 2-4 person tables but a majority of the patio was bar-like seating (as seen in the picture of the view). Speaking of, the patio also has a really nice view of the ocean!! My boyfriend ordered the Steak and Eggs and I ordered the Dave's Breakfast. Our server was incredibly nice and friendly, ensuring to answer any questions we had about the menu in a knowledgeable way! I felt that it did take a little while for the food to come out (but it was also fairly busy so that's fine). The portion sizes were pretty large in my opinion -- I could not finish everything and had enough to take home as a second meal. Everything was also pretty flavorful, including their house made jam! Overall, the experience was really great and we will definitely recommend giving this spot a try if you are ever in the area!
I had a really great experience at OB Surf Lodge, especially because of the service and location. The service was amazing, and the staff made everything easy and welcoming from the moment we got there. The view is also a huge plus. It was around twenty something dollars and a decent size, but it did not really fill us up before heading back out to surf. Overall, the service, location, and convenience really stood out. Next time, I would probably try something different on the menu, but it is still a great spot, especially if you are coming from the beach.
Initially, the Customer Service was great, friendly host and server. However, our serve (as sweet as she was) didn't really tend to us adequately. Our food was average, nothing to warrant seconds- I feel like the cost should reflect the taste. My Ahí Tuna tacos were beyond bland. However, the main event as to what lead me to this review was the "bread pudding". This was NOT bread pudding. This was glorified cake smothered in over indulgent sauce. The texture is not of what one would expect of bread pudding and all I tasted was sugat upon sugar. This was the one thing I was most looking forward to and extremely dissatisfied with. Albeit, this was the first time me visiting, so hoping it was a glitch, of sorts. However, not sure I'd go again.
Surprise! GREAT VIBE! Randomly pulled up with some friends I used to work with for lunch, and the shenanigans they let us have here was absolutely perfect! Pup friendly! Staff is super friendly! Food here hits the spot! We're near the water, so i had to get some kind of seafood goin on the salad !!!One of the ladies helped my homegirls out with the menu while showing our pup some luv. Will definitely make this place a regular stop whenever I'm in the area!
OB Surf Lodge is one of our favorite spots when we crave breakfast (Waterfront and Broken Yolk are the others). Four of us were looking forward to a great breakfast and we found it at the Surf Lodge. We rolled into OB Surf Lodge just after they opened. We found seats at the bar on "the hook". The lovely and super cool Natalie was our bartender/server. We started with drinks. Bloody Marys for our friends, a Calidad Lager for me and Becky was intrigued by the seasonal drink The Holly Berry. (Cutwater Vodka, Pama Pomegranate Liqueur, Rosemary Simple Syrup, Cranberry Juice). She asked Natalie about it. Natalie said it was brand new to the menu so she hadn't yet tried it, nor had she made one yet. So this was the first! It was a pretty drink, garnished with an entire Christmas tree (rosemary sprig). Bex loved it! Well done Natalie! For food our friends split the Chicken Fried Steak with over easy eggs. (8oz Skirt Steak, Cremini Mushroom Gravy or Sausage Gravy, Two Eggs (Any Style), Sourdough, Breakfast Potatoes). Bex and I followed suit, but with scrambled. The kitchen split both into two plates for us. (Sausage gravy was everyone's choice). I added a biscuit with sausage gravy. Everybody absolutely loved their food. It was all perfectly executed. The Surf Lodge housemade biscuits are the best I've had. They are huge! They are really dense and hold up to the gravy, yet they are not heavy. I devored the entire thing and did not go into a food coma. Natalie was fantastic. Breakfast was fantastic.

Came here after a long day at the beach, wanted to see if it really was a dog friendly place and how dog friendly since my pup had a cone on and could be a bit grouchy. Parking is everywhere: street parking, parking Lott across the treetops and right next to it. We came in and got seated immediately. We sat outside and it was such a gorgeous day. food: we ordered crab Mac and cheese but then was told that its not fresh caught crab so we decided with steak Mac and cheese. 10/10 two smash burgers with aioli fries and Brussel spouts 10/10 all was too delicious and held up in our to go container. We warmed it up again in our hotel and still was so good. we ordered my pup a bone broth popsicle and he loved it! There were other dogs but you are seated a bit spacious so the other dogs won't get close while another dog is eating. Such a great place to come and enjoy your day and enjoy lunch. A must place to put on your list and come and enjoy. read more

**make reservations for weekend brunches!!** This place was so packed on a Sunday at 10:30am and only got more crowded. Glad we made reservations a few days before and avoided the 45min-1hr wait. I'm a sucker for egg Benedict's so I had to get the crab one. Wow so fresh!! I love crispy potatoes and they SLAYED. Prob one of the best crispiness ever! Their biscuits are also BOMB DOT COM. Nice and warm, tastes freshly baked! Other people in the party raved about it too! My crab egg benny plate was so filling but I would've wanted biscuit on the side because it's so good when I tried my friends plate. The bacon is THIKKKK. Not my preference but just so you know when you order. Service was great, and fast! The ambiance is beautiful as it overlooks the beach. Hands down would def come back when I'm in the area! read more

We enjoyed a lovely Sunday breakfast here today and loved every part of it. Our waitress Brooke was busy but made sure we were taken care of. The barista made our coffees quickly and they were so good!! The hostess was sweet enough to clear a spot for us to enjoy a view of the water. The food was great, we weren't expecting the BBQ flavor from the candied bacon but we enjoyed our entrees. read more

I've been to this place a couple times and I'm always impressed by the food. These crab cakes were so big and delicious, I actually stuck my leftovers in an insulated bag with ice packs and drove them all the way back to Phoenix, AZ, so I could enjoy them. What makes them special for me is that there are big chunks of hearty bacon lardons that add saltiness and texture to the dish. They aren't in the crab cakes, but when paired with a bite of crab cake or the arugula salad, it's delicious. I also had a couple of their cocktail called The Pepino. It's a fresh, thirst-quenching drink with cucumber and gin. I highly recommend it. As you can see from the drink photo, you cannot beat the views at this place. There are inside seating options, but the patio overlooks Ocean Beach. It's great for people watching and enjoying a sunset. This particular trip, I did find the service to be lacking. It wasn't particularly busy when I visited, so unclear on why that was. My waiter was nice, but didn't come back and check in except once to refresh drinks, which was especially frustrating when my food came out before I'd been given silverware. It was excruciating to look at this beautiful meal and wait to eat it. I eventually had to get up and go find someone (not my waiter) to give me silverware. The person's tone and the expression on their face when I made this request seemed more like I was asking for my dish to be re-made instead of simply asking for a fork. But the food and drinks more than made up for the lackluster service. read more

Such a great spot for brunch watching the ocean and people go by. The menu had something for everyone. The biscuit board was above expectations and definitely for more than 2 people to share. The drinks were creative and tasted great. The lobster Benedict was fresh and the hollandaise sauce was super fluffy which was a most welcome experience than the thick and heavy I usually get from a restaurant. The location cannot be beat. The food was amazing. So filling. The waitresses were nice and attentive despite being super busy. I noticed all the windows and doors were open allowing for the breeze to come in but it does get cold because of it. It felt like a wind tunnel read more

Great food and an amazing ocean view made for a strong start. Unfortunately, the service didn't match the experience. Our waitress was friendly at first and gave good recommendations, but after that we were mostly ignored, which really took away from the visit. I'd definitely recommend the chilaquiles and breakfast burritos. I'd skip the coffee though, it was a bit too strong for my taste. read more
Totally unexpected!! Stopped here to watch the surf and grab a drink...landed during Happy Hour. Lucky me! EXCELLENT service today by Wiley. Highly recommend asking for him. He checked on me several times, always with a happy to help attitude. Breezy Californian beach ambiance already got me, then service hooked me to order some food...and the delicious BBB Short Rib flatbread has me trying to figure out when I can return. Can't believe I stumbled upon this place while waiting for a friend to finish work so we can roam the Famers Market. Definitely coming back!! Too bad my friend's only working here once a month -but maybe it'll keep me from reaching 200 lbs eating here too often. ps, Ladies room was clean and functional read more

It's great eating with a view! Their patio deck has a lot of seating and while you may encounter some friendly flies - it's just nature! We landed here for Happy Hour which doesn't end til 5:30pm. Several good portion items are available. We tried the BBQ Short Rib flatbread - definitely plenty of flatbread to support the generous toppings! The flavor of the short rib was really good! Topped with some arugula - it was a fresh bite! The Machaca Fries were so good! Normally you think fries are fries but the Machaca and the flavors - wow! The fries still had crisp as well! Delicious! We were feeling a little full only after two items so next time we can try more items. It's a dog friendly deck as well and the server and staff are VERY friendly! read more
I always have a fantastic meal at OB surf lodge. You can't be the view and the menu offers so many yummy items with changing weekly specials. This trip we got a special order of Blueberry Lemon Ricotta Pancakes for the table- oh my god! They were so incredible. For my brunch I got the breakfast burritos (which come in 4 smaller pieces, which could be good to share). My friend got the pozole and her husband got the lodge burger on sourdough and added an egg. We all devoured everything. They also serve their champagne bottles in fun beach buckets and lots of good looking drinks on the menu! Can't wait to go back- it never disappoints. A must go to breakfast spot! Whenever my fiancé and I come to San Diego, this is top of the list of places to visit. There is free parking within a minute away of walking. Love that they are pet friendly and have a dog menu! The food portions are very generous. I love the break biscuit sandwich! Service is always great, very friendly and accommodating. The ocean view is to die for, definitely worth checking out. Still trying to figure out how they make all their coffee drinks so good...specifically the white chocolate mocha. read more

I absolutely loved breakfast here! I'd heard great things about the biscuits and gravy, so I ordered them as a side and wow, they were delicious. I also had the scramble, which was packed with generous portions of sausage, ham, bacon, etc. The eggs were fluffy and cooked perfectly. I added a waffle on the side, which was decent, but next time I'm definitely trying the French toast. We sat in a high booth toward the back and enjoyed a fantastic view of the pier and the ocean, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Great food, great atmosphere. There was a long line at the door but we were able to get seated right away. Our table looked out onto the ocean, so it's very hard to beat the view. The break biscuit sandwich is unbelievably large. I was starving and I could only eat half, and I consider myself an eater. Our server was very nice and the food came out quick. Very great spot to stop for breakfast on your morning walk. read more

We came here for brunch on a Saturday. This is the first time we've had food here. The last time we came here we only had drinks. We did not have reservations but were still seated pretty quickly. The portions were huge and we definitely could've shared. The server did not ask us what beer for our Michelada so not sure what we had. The michelada had too much seasoning for my liking. The biscuit was the star of my meals it was so warm and flavorful. My son enjoyed his fried chicken but was not a fan of the dollop of butter on his waffles. read more

First timer, it was definitely a good and decent experience all at once. Chilaquiles 4/5: Definitely a good meal, lots of flavor and enjoyed it completely. Only thing was the $5 add on for carnitas was a poor portion. Not too much meat. But other than that, I would order again. Country fried steak 3/5: Too much breading, the toast with jam was absolutely amazing. Potatoes were a little greasy sadly but not horrible. Service 3/5: Our server was polite but was not attentive and had to wait roughly 35 minutes for the check. Didn't really see our waiter. Seating 5/5: Lots of seating but don't know if it's a good thing since service wait time is very extensive. Overall I would come back but maybe not for breakfast. Maybe when more staff are present. read more

My granddaughter has celiac disease. Do you offer any gluten-free options?
Yes, we have numerous options, from power bowls, breakfast items, salads, and burgers. Please inform your server of any dietary restrictions upon ordering.
What vegan options do you have?
Hi there! We currently offer the Roasted Veggie Bowl and Power Bowl, along with a few other items that can be modified to fit your dietary restrictions.
Are there gluten free / dairy free options?
Yes, we have numerous options. Your server will be able to walk you through the menu and let you know the options.
Do they allow dogs in strollers?
Yes! They are extremely dog friendly and would allow dog in strollers or on-leash.
What's are the specials for sunset happy hour?
Our current specials are $5 select drafts and wine, $8 select small plates, and $10 specialty cocktails
Serve breakfast all day?
Hi Leo, during the week we serve breakfast until 1PM and a lunch menu with limited breakfast options until 5PM. On the weekends brunch is served until 3PM. Hope this helps!
Are there televisions on the outside patio?
Yes there is one large 70 inch and the second would be located behind bar which can be viewed along the outside bar top.
