We decided to get the chef's boat to share and it was a little.... idk... just thrown together? Some fish had the two bites and some only had one... very annoying which resulted in some rock paper scissors and ultimately ordering another bite of some of the fish WHICH oddly enough....only comes in bites of two so then we had 3 LOL There was one big item which was supposed to be a stuffed large prawn but there was no meet in there, it's like they scraped out the prawn and just stuffed it with a single cheese. Really weird and didn't really seem to fit the boat. Drinks were fantastic, EXCEPT the Espresso martini. Dear lord that was one of the worst espresso martinis I think I've ever had. Luckily it was the last drink of dinner or I would have been really upset and probably would have just left or not trusted ordering any other drinks. Rooftop right on the boardwalk with awesome ocean views, fire pits, occasional live music and prime people watching. The sushi is just okay, good presentation, but you're definitely paying for the view but it's still not overly price it's what I would expect. Service can be a little slow when they're busy. Great spot to grab some beers with friends and watch the sunset. Plus, there's a large parking lot right there, which makes parking easy! read more

Great spot for ocean views and sushi in Mission beach. I've gone here a few times most recently this past Sunday with on my girlfriend's. Almost every seat in this restaurant has an ocean view which is really nice! They have a fair selection of sushi rolls and other options Pursuit as well. We also ordered the Lobster Dip along with lobster roll and enguefo roll. Our server was very tentative to check on us and refill our drinks. Overall I've had pretty consistently good experiences. This is a rooftop restaurant right on the boardwalk. It is completely outdoors but with lots of shades. Majority of seatings has a good view of the sunset. The menu is limited. Service was good. Cannonball is a super conveniently located restaurant on the 2nd floor of a building right off the strand in Belmont Park, does offer pretty cool outdoor seating featuring a bar that overlooks the beach. Music wasn't too loud and could be a cool spot for sunset in the evening. During the daytime however the service was pretty slow, took about 25 minutes to get food (two sushi rolls and a sandwich) during early afternoon hours despite the restaurant being only half filled. I don't know if this was because my order was a to go order but I felt that this took longer than it should have. Tried to pork katsu sandwich, tiger roll and dragons breath roll. This restaurant gets a nod for the creativity of the items and flavors selected across the board. The sandwich was the standout of this group despite the sour dough bread getting soggy midway through. Not the best place for sushi at this price point but it wasn't bad either. Nice restaurant on the second floor of a building adjacent to Belmont Park. It has lovely views of the Pacific Ocean (which is the best spot for small groups). I came here in a party of 5 and enjoyed the fireplace, sunset views of the ocean, and dishes. Service was friendly - but I would expect a wait during peak dining hours. My Asian salad with grilled chicken was good but the portions were ridiculously large (would recommend asking for a "takeout" box). My colleague liked the chicken karage - a great pick. The sushi here was really good and everything tasted fresh. One thing I really appreciated was that they let us order a chicken teriyaki bowl even though lunch was already over. Instead of saying no, they just charged us for the kids' teriyaki bowl and served it in a full-size bowl for only $10, which was a nice surprise. The only downsides were the service and the drinks. It was really busy, so everything took quite a while, and our appetizers didn't come out until after our main food had already been served. Not the end of the world, just a little odd. The cocktails also left a bit to be desired since they were much stronger than they were balanced. Overall though, the quality of the food made up for it. This place is pretty nice! The menu could use a little help, one thing I look forward to is the food menu when trying new spots and when the menu is one page, meaning one side, it's so womp womp. They also have seasonal things! If you look at past reviews you will see food they no longer have which is a bummer. I got the beef bulgogi, it was nicely cooked with a great char! So good! Reasons for the five stars, for me, it's more about the food and if the rest is good enough, I'm good too. One thing I did have an issue with is how long it took to get some water and a waiter at the table but besides that the service was good as well. I was expecting it to be a little nicer than it was. The glass surrounding the resultant upstairs really messes with the view! It's almost better to eat at one of the other places that feel more open. It might be there for safety. read more

Location is amazing with great views, right by the Mission Beach boardwalk and Belmont Park. We came around 6 PM on Sunday as a party of two. We would've sat at a table, but none were available, so we grabbed seats at the bar. Our first round came out quickly, but after that, the service disappeared. Despite several attempts to make eye contact and the increasingly obvious yearning look on my face, no one checked on us again. We spent next 25 minutes slowly finishing our bottle of sake before I basically got up and moved my body like an inflatable ad to get his attention to closed the tab. Maybe the bartender assumed we were only there for drinks, but bro...talk to me. We would've ordered food and probably another round if someone had simply checked in. Had such a great experience here. We were sat by the water in the shade. Gorgeous view of the beach. Staff were all sooo kind and helpful. They seem to enjoy what they do which is so refreshing. Parking was a bit of a hassle but we got lucky! Now for the important part: the food. The poke nachos were AMAZING. the pickled peppers and mango pair beautifully with the tuna poke. 10/10 recommend these. The red dragon and tokyo nights roll were absolutely divine. The tokyo nights i liked slightly more just because im not the biggest fan of cream cheese in my rolls (red dragon has cream cheese) but I still thoroughly enjoyed the red dragon as well. The only thing i truly wouldnt order again was the cucumber radish salad. It was rather flavorless. The dressing needs some serious revamping. Pro tip: Order the garlic edamame with the side of spicy sauce and dip it. Fantastic flavor! Just make sure you're not gonna be up in someone's face right afterwards lol so worth the garlic breath It's pretty easy to park with a huge parking lot right out front. Honestly, what more could you ask for while sitting by the beach with the sun out and a light breeze blowing? I also ordered the steamed mussels, which I could've eaten as a soup if there'd been more of that amazing broth! The coconut green curry sauce was rich and flavorful, and the Chinese sausage was such a surprising but delicious pairing. Altogether, I had the perfect little combo going on. This restaurant has a beautiful rooftop setting right on the beach. A lot of beachside spots rely mainly on the ambiance, but I have to say that the two dishes I tried completely exceeded my expectations for a more touristy-style place. They really did a great job! First time we were able to get a reservation and absolutely loved this place. The view of the beach from the deck is stunning and felt like a scene from a tropical paradise.
