This is a rooftop restaurant right on the boardwalk. It is completely outdoors but with lots of shades. Majority of seatings has a good view of the sunset. The menu is limited. Service was good. They also have seasonal things! If you look at past reviews you will see food they no longer have which is a bummer. I got the beef bulgogi, it was nicely cooked with a great char! So good! Reasons for the five stars, for me, it's more about the food and if the rest is good enough, I'm good too. One thing I did have an issue with is how long it took to get some water and a waiter at the table but besides that the service was good as well. I was expecting it to be a little nicer than it was. The glass surrounding the resultant upstairs really messes with the view! It's almost better to eat at one of the other places that feel more open. It might be there for safety. read more

Amazing atmosphere, amazing service, amazing food. You cannot beat the view this place offers and I am so glad we stopped here for lunch. Our server Chance was amazing. She was kind and attentive despite her being really busy. She was on top of everything. She made our drink and mocktail as well and they were amazing. We got the girl dinner and crispy rice burger. My fiancee absolutely loved the girl dinner concept and loved everything it came with. The oysters were fresh and the accompaniment really made it, absolutely delicious. The roll was also delicious. The crispy rice burger was absolutely bursting at the seems with lobster, crab, and tuna. I personally deconstructed it because it was too hard to eat as it but it was so filling! First time we were able to get a reservation and absolutely loved this place. The view of the beach from the deck is stunning and felt like a scene from a tropical paradise. Service was impeccable and left nothing to be desired. We tried several different sushi rolls as well as sashimi and it was some of the freshest seafood I've had in a while. I had an enjoyable time spending happy hour at Cannonball! This restaurant was open when I lived in Mission Beach, but I just never had the chance to go. We decided to go for happy hour and share a couple of drinks and appetizers. First of all, our waitress was so nice and present even though we were only ordering from the happy hour menu. (I have had servers in the past who acted annoyed that I was there for a discounted item). She even came over a minute before happy hour ended to make sure we didn't need anything else before it ended. For drinks we ordered a couple lychee martinis ($10 on HH) and a Pizza Port beer. They lychee martinis were surprisingly strong for how delicious they were. For food we split the salted edamame and salmon roll. The edamame was well cooked and I appreciated that they used flaky salt. It made the dish salty without any graininess. The salmon roll came with 6 pieces and was small but delicious. Our waitress recommended it and I would definitely get it again. Finally the views were spectacular! I was looking at the waves the entire time I was there. I imagine it get/ a little warm at this rooftop bar when the UV index is high, but around 4 it was perfect. There's shaded seating, but even in a sunnier spot it was really nice. read more

Had such a great experience here. We were sat by the water in the shade. Gorgeous view of the beach. Staff were all sooo kind and helpful. They seem to enjoy what they do which is so refreshing. Parking was a bit of a hassle but we got lucky! Now for the important part: the food. The poke nachos were AMAZING. the pickled peppers and mango pair beautifully with the tuna poke. 10/10 recommend these. The red dragon and tokyo nights roll were absolutely divine. The tokyo nights i liked slightly more just because im not the biggest fan of cream cheese in my rolls (red dragon has cream cheese) but I still thoroughly enjoyed the red dragon as well. The only thing i truly wouldnt order again was the cucumber radish salad. It was rather flavorless. The dressing needs some serious revamping. Fantastic rooftop experience and delicious sushi. I highly recommend catching a sunset at Cannonball after a long beach day. My favorite is the Dragon roll. Their eel sauce is perfection. Pro tip: Order the garlic edamame with the side of spicy sauce and dip it. Fantastic flavor! Just make sure you're not gonna be up in someone's face right afterwards lol so worth the garlic breath It's pretty easy to park with a huge parking lot right out front. Went here for an early dinner with friends that happened to fall right during happy hour- woo! We ordered a bunch of bites and small rolls (too many to even list), but everything hit the spot. Fun sushi/dinner spot right by the beach! Lots of seating, quick staff, and okay sushi! Be warned though of the wait time. My girlfriend and I got two sushi rolls to share as we wanted something light, and some soda (next time I'm getting a cocktail because they look fun and sound tasty)! There were some small cons nothing crazy: a long wait time I believe it was and 1 hour for two. We did request to it near a beach view so that might be it. I don't usually leave bad reviews because I've worked in customer service and know how hectic things can get, but this experience was very disappointing. We had a 7:00 reservation and weren't seated for about 20 minutes, which is whatever. But after that, it didn't get better. Our table was dirty and didn't even have basic stuff like plates, utensils, or chopsticks. We had to ask multiple times just to get set up. It took about 30 minutes to get appetizers and over an hour for our main food. I usually wouldn't complain about that but it was a Monday and on top of that, the staff checked on us ONCE to see what we wanted but otherwise was super rude anytime we asked for something. We had to ask for almost everything: napkins, chopsticks, water, soy sauce, while it looked like other tables were getting things without even asking. What really bothered me was that the tables around us seemed to be getting way better service. We were also the only people of color there, and it honestly felt weird seeing the difference in how we were treated. It made us feel overlooked and uncomfortable. Had an early birthday dinner here. I was so grateful that the host made sure to accommodate our seating request to be the glass oceanfront. It made for the perfect ambiance and views! We had miso soup and edamame for appetizers (a little disappointed with how expensive they were $8 for one soup and $9 for edamame) but understand it's due to the location etc. Thankfully the miso soup wasn't just a small cup like most places. I took my grandma and boyfriend here tonight to try it out and because we could get a good view of the sunset, I made a reservation and they still made us wait 20 minutes for our table (should have just left at that point) we ordered the spicy jumbo prawns and when they served them they were completely raw it was awful we had to send them back and got a California roll and karaage chicken instead, the roll then had a hair in it that my boyfriend pulled out of his mouth that definitely wasn't his because it was long and blonde which none of us are, I will say our server was incredibly sweet and we appreciated her very much and still tipped her, I think this place would be okay for drinks and the view but besides that don't order the food it really was awful read more
