We started with the hummus and veggies appetizer, which was colorful, and tasty. I ordered the chilaquiles, they were delicious and had the right amount of crunch, just how I like them. The steak on top was a great addition and really rounded out the dish. My husband got the eggs Benedict, and he enjoyed them as well. The flavors were spot on, and everything was cooked just right. I was a smidge hungry while waiting to go to the airport so my group stopped by for a quick bite. My coworker ordered a chicken sandwich and I ordered the bread service. I feel like these two items should be relatively quick but the food took quite a while to come out. When I asked the waitress if our food was ready after waiting 30ish minutes, she said they were putting the final touches on it...??? My group started joking they were putting the sesame on my bread with tweezers. The bread itself was great though. I love a good sourdough with a heavy dose of butter. Came for brunch during a peak time of day and a peak week (spring break and Mustache Bash) and was pleasantly surprised by how chill it was and the quality of food and service. The resort was full, street parking was unavailable, we had to walk about 5-7 minutes, and that barely diminished the experience. 4 people ordered a really diverse selection of food and drinks, and everything was great quality and great value for the money considering the location. Shoutout to our server Patricia who did a great job with showing us a great time, helping navigate the menu, gracefully handling substitutions. No notes. We are here before an event on a boat departing from the hotel/resort. We sat outside and enjoyed the views of the water. There were barely any other people at the restaurant, but the staff was very weird about where they would allow you to sit. We tried to ask for another table that wasn't in the sun and they wouldn't allow us to sit there, even though it was never occupied while we were there and the place was 95% empty. Just odd. As for the food, they had a few vegetarian/vegan options, but not a lot, so we just ate appetizers. Here's what we ordered: - Tiki Tempest ($14, Ritual Rum Alternative, Lime, Demerara, Pineapple, Ginger Beer) - Tried one of their mocktails. It was good! - Artisan Bread Service ($13) - Really great butters to go along with decent bread. - Hummus Plate ($22) - Very tasty! Would have liked them to be more generous with the pita bread, only including a few small triangles. But the mix of veggies and falafel was nice. Too expensive for what it is, though. We found a thin piece of metal wire in our hummus (perhaps from a twist tie on some vegetables?). When we told our server, she just laughed and thanked us for pointing it out, but did not offer any compensation for it. The food was decent, but the service was a little weird. Great service, atmosphere, and food! I did not catch our servers name but she was very sweet and fast. We sat outside at a fire pit which was a beautiful view of the sunset. Seating was comfortable. Dockside 1953 is the relaunch of the on-site restaurant at the Bahia Resort Hotel in Mission Beach. It was formerly Cafe Bahia while 1953 represents the year the resort was founded. The property is on the southwestern edge of Mission Bay with a nice view of the water to the north. A large outdoor patio was available if you wanted to dine al fresco while looking at the bay. I decided to dine inside which turned out to be prudent because an isolated rain shower hit the area and forced the parties who were out on the patio to take refuge in the dining room. My visit occurred near the switch over from the breakfast menu to the lunch menu. The hostess gave me a copy of each after I was seated at a table. The latter had better selections which consisted of the following categories... Starters, Greens, Flatbread Pizza, Favorites, and Sides. For my meal, I chose a Wilted Spinach Salad and the Farm Bird Chicken Lollipops which were actually listed on the bar menu. The salad was made up of spoon spinach, tomato, candied pecans, tart apple, egg, and gorgonzola cheese. The dressing was a sherry-bacon vinaigrette. The medley of flavors ranged from the tartness of the apple to the sweetness of the pecans to the saltiness of the egg and cheese. The price tag was hefty for the serving size though. The small plate came as three drumettes coated with a hoisin chile glaze. A scoop of coleslaw was included in the center of the dish. I was quite disappointed at the amount of chicken. You can get eight to twelve chicken wings with the same amount of meat on each piece for the cost. While the setting of the restaurant was pleasant, the value and quality of the food were the reasons why I gave a three star rating for my lunch at Dockside 1953. read more

The lobster mac n cheese was okay, but i think i should have tried the fish tacos instead. Nestled within the Bahai Resort Hotel, Dockside is a gem! Reservations can be made and seating is lovely inside or out on the patio. Even with a slight chill in the air you can enjoy the fire side dining. The servers were very attentive and helpful. The food was divine. Five star dining "on the beach," are you kidding me?! This is a great place near the Bahia resort, and features outdoor dining right off the beach. They have indoor tables, outdoor tables, or...if there's a little chill on the bay, you can get an outdoor table with a fireplace in the center so everyone stays toasty warm. And the food was very good. We tried the salmon, petrale sole, blackened ahi tuna and the shrimp roll, and it was all very good. Nice presentation and accompaniments, and very tasty. I will say that the menu felt a little limited in options, but we all found something that was great. Maybe an added option like mahi or swordfish or halibut would be nice!? But, this is a must try restaurant while in San Diego. Enjoying libations and a meal while sitting a few steps from Mission Bay is a unique experience. We shall return! read more

Dockside is a little restaurant In the Bahia resort on Mission Bay marina with outdoor and indoor dining. Came to celebrate a friend's birthday party and was seated in their spacious and open patio. It was a warm San Diego day, but there were strategically placed fans that picked up the breeze and felt like air conditioning. The service was impeccable and everyone was so nice, made sure our drinks were filled, answered questions, and gave prompt service. The food itself is overpriced and the portions are way small. I paid a little over 31.00 for an iced tea, the smallest omelet I've ever seen without any sort of meat or toast, and maybe 10 little potato wedges with one small cut piece of bell pepper and three small pieces of onion. My friend next to me got avocado toast and coffee and wound up paying over 40.00, next to me the birthday girl got pancakes, which were decent sized but for the price, outrageous. Overall if you have dispensable money and a small appetite, this is the place for you. I will not be back as I feel my money can be better used elsewhere. read more

The restaurant had a casual, Southern California vibe and was located at the Bahia Hotel and Resort. It's tucked away beyond the Bahia Hotel check-in area and just steps from the beach. The minute you step into the restaurant, you will automatically go into "relax" mode. I suggest finding a seat outside on the patio. You'll get a beautiful view of the bay,the beach and plenty of fresh air. For those who prefer to dine indoors, there's plenty of indoor seating as well. We decided to start with a Tiki Tempest mocktail. It included a rum alternative, Demerara, pineapple and ginger beer. It was a refreshing drink and perfect for brunch. For an appetizer, we ordered the Big Eye Tuna Tostada. It included seared Ahi Tuna, smoked Trout Caviar, Sirachi Aioli, cucumber, shallots and fresh seaweed all on a crispy tostada shell. The smoked Trout Caviar elevated the taste of the ahi tuna and the fresh seaweed topped off every savory bite and gave it that light salty finish. We decided to follow up with the Market Omelette. It included, tomato, relish, caramelized onions, spinach, feta cheese, mushrooms and breakfast potatoes. It was a typical omelette dish with nothing out of the ordinary, but it satisfied our breakfast craving. Overall, we enjoyed our visit. We ate at Dockside three times in two days during our stay at the Bahia. The food was piping hot, delicious and not overseasoned. We enjoy both the outdoor seating and inside the tables have a vintage teak theme. The service was wonderful. Patty and Aiden had great suggestions. Dined on a Monday night outdoors in late April 2025. The server turned the heat lamp on for us. We ordered bread and oysters to start. We thought the oysters were on special and didn't realize we were charged full price until the check came. That was our misunderstanding but a bummer. I think they were only $1 each in the special. They were super fresh. Had the crusted tuna and friends shared the sliders and a salad. They brought out a free dessert for my birthday. The server was great. He was attentive and joked around with us. We had a couple craft cocktails and shared a bottle of wine. I think the combo of the ambiance and food make it special. I stayed at Bahia for a work offsite and dined at their restaurant three times. Situated right by the private beach, the restaurant and bar offer stunning views of the bay. There's plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors, with heaters available to keep you warm on cooler evenings. The food was quite good overall. I ordered the Morning Bowl twice as a healthier option and really enjoyed it. That said, service was a bit slow--my meal took about 30 minutes to arrive, and oddly, my colleague received his bill before his food. While the server seemed a bit confused by the situation, they were courteous and quickly checked in with the kitchen to sort things out. On one visit, I also tried their tequila-based Bramble cocktail from the full bar inside--it was excellent! While I'm not sure I'd return unless I was staying on the property and had room credit, it's definitely a solid dining option if you're at the resort. read more

Appetizers, dinner, dessert, and wine were great. However, my 1 star review is because of the chair I sat on that destroyed my $200 jeans. When I got up to use the restroom, I noticed that my jeans were destroyed by a nail in the chair. I noted this to our server and the manager, Adina, who came over and noted the nail and offered us a comped dessert. I'm 1 year postpartum and these are the only jeans that fit me. Adina offered me a new chair, at the end of our meal, a comped dessert (it was my birthday and it was a $7 credit), and free breakfast the next day. When we declined returning for breakfast, that is where her pleasantries ended. I had an overall great night and dinner here at Dockside 1953. I opted to get their $45 Prime Rib Special at the time, which came with a salad, the prime rib, and a cheesecake for dessert. A lot of food at a decently good price, considering the ambience. As for the food itself, I enjoyed it for the most part. The caesar salad was a refreshing start to the meal, a bit bland but the cheese and croutons helped. The prime rib entree which I ordered medium rare was tasty! Well seasoned and pretty juicy. Love the broccolini on the side as well, but the baked potato had no flavor. The cheesecake for dessert was creamy and a nice finish to the meal! I really enjoyed the ambience here. On Thursdays there is a live performance. Definitely try to reserve a seat outside if you can so you get to watch the sunset by the dock. So beautiful, and the fire pit at our table kept us warm once the sun had set. I will say the seating arrangement made it hard to make conversation with the people who sit across you because they are too far. Also, our food came out after a ridiculously long time. It was my wife's birthday so the front desk hooked us up with free breakfast coupons. She treated us like VIPS. While breakfast was free we of course left a nicely sized tip. Lunch was rough. The waitress was slow and the food was not nearly as good. I will say my clam chowder was excellent, but my wife's cesar salad and my burger were barely edible. Very curious how dinner is. Had I written this on my first visit quite a while ago, it would've been a 5. That time my cousin and I split their version of a club sandwich (no longer on the menu) and it was delicious. Today I couldn't decide between the burger or the Caesar salad. Chose the latter and what a disappointment!!! So bland. I asked for enhancements, which should've been there in the first place (shaved parmesan and more croutons...also took some of the lemon for my water and squeezed it on). Everyone is super friendly at this waterfront café. It is located at the Bahia Resort. We went for lunch after a walk on the beach. You can't beat the view of the bay. It is right by the Bahia Belle. You can sit inside or outside on the covered patio. The patio has electric heaters. I had the fish tacos which were good, but needed to come with fries. My friend had the ahi or tuna sandwich which came with fries. We both enjoyed our lunch. This is a quiet less busy spot than eating on the ocean side. Dockside is a little pricey, but you pay for the view. Parking is free if you park at the park by the Bay. read more

This is such a beautiful restaurant with a waterfront view . Came here with my Wife and our Little dog . The staff are very welcoming to us and very sweet to our dog . Since we are still in the window time frame of their Breakfast and also 15 minuites left and they will start serving Lunch, they gave us a Breakfast Menu and a Lunch Menu . We ordered from the Lunch menu since there's more selection from it . The meal that i had was the AHI POKE BOWL , decent size , fresh and had a very delicious sauce . The rest of our food was also delicious , didn't get the chance to taste our dessert , but it was probably good too because my wife took the whole plate and forgot to offer me some :D We will be back soon to try their Dinner Menu and to see how this place is at night . read more

The location is right next to the water, which is lovely. The service was wonderful and the staff were very good. However, we were informed that the Lobster Mac n' Cheese takes a while to make and the chef apparently didn't want to make it. Disappointing. The Appetizers were very good, albeit I wish the serving portions were bigger than what they presented, especially for the price point they were asking for. They claimed the salad dressings were made in house, but the Caesar dressing was lacking flavor. Staff is awesome so accommodating and personable. They catered to my 83 year old father. Although we were there for dinner they allowed him to order off of the lunch menu. One of my brothers and I shared a half dozen oysters. Very fresh and tasty could've eaten another dozen. The other brother and I shared the sea bass and risotto most excellent dish. Sea bass was perfect as was the risotto. The bass was juicy and seasoned perfectly and the risotto was tender and tasty very savory and the fresno chili relish was perfect.
