What a beautiful restaurant with an amazing view add the fact that it was built in the late 1800s makes even more worth visiting. We came on the weekend and were lucky enough to get a table on the outside balcony without a reservation. I felt so lucky and appreciated that they even tried to see us. We weren't aware, but it's so popular for brunch there now we know. It did take a little bit for our server to come over but again they were quite busy and when she did come over, she was so sweet and I loved that she just smiled nonstop. She gave us some time to look over the menus and brought us some water once we were ready. We ordered a margarita and a beer as well as our food. My husband ordered a club sandwich and I got the fish tacos. Both were amazing and portions were huge and we were only able to eat about half while there the overlook to the ocean was worth the prices and the experience I would come again in a heartbeat and try a few other things. It was a great stop and well worth checking out if you're in La Jolla.

Sadly a yearly tradition will be no longer. Brockton Villa used to serve this amazing sangria and their food was too die for. Lines would be down the stairs with wait times. They no longer have their sangria. Hollandaise sauce on the eggs benedict had no flavor and seemed watered dow or thin. The ham for eggs benedict was also sliced thin like for a ham sandwich not thick Canadian bacon. They don't have blue cheese dressing and their ranch was also watered down. The potatoes were not cooked long enough and so chewy we gave up. No longer worth trying to find parking to eat here. So sad and disappointed as we used to love this place.

The people were very welcoming and friendly. The views are great. The food was okay. But the smell is such a deterrent to coming back to this restaurant. I know it's not their fault, but it does negatively affect the restaurant experience.

One of the coolest ocean view restaurants in La Jolla! I love their outdoor patio and it's dog friendly. They prepared a water bowl for our dog, so sweet! And everyone's so friendly and I was surprised how their price is reasonable considering their location is prime. And avocado toast was huge and so good, and their clam chowder!! It's the bomb, was sooo good. Definitely would come back!

The view is gorgeous. Hard to beat it. You have the cove and the water and the breeze right there. Inside wasn't as pretty. Felt very laid back and almost like a coffee shop vibe. Super chill. There's a front patio and a back patio section. The chairs aren't the comfiest. We came on a Monday afternoon around 3pm. It was suppose to be just drinks but there were a few things on the menu that caught my eye. There were 4 of us plus a dog in our party. They offered a dog bowl with water. We ordered the following: Passionfruit Mojito which was super good. Margarita, which wasn't too exciting. A cup of BV Epic Chowder - which was creamy and had a lovely ivory color. It was a b bowl that satisfied my peckish hunger, but not curiosity of what it could have been. Would have benefitted from being a bit more smokier to really draw out the flavors a bit more Local Mussels - which had a mediterranean broth, harissa oil, cilantro, scallions, and grilled baguette. Baguette was great. It was nice and charred. The broth threw us for a loop. It was more curry like which added an interesting twist but can't say it was my favorite. Server was nice. Front host wasn't the greatest. Parking is wherever you can find it. We came to see the seals and found parking nearby. But it's not the easist place to park. Happy hour is from 3pm to 6pm. It's not the greatest of happy hour. $3 off select apps (which still comes out to like 20 bucks), $5 beers, and $9 broc-tails, which are just what they call their cocktails. It's a 2 star place for me because the prices, although you're paying for the view and convenience, were high and the flavor of the food wasn't spectacular. The staff, although it was only 30 percent full, seemed distant or preoccupied for maybe preparing for the dinner rush.

The food was okay, nothing special. We mainly came for the view, and that's where everything went wrong. We've been here a few times before, and this was by far the absolute worst experience. We were seated immediately in the back, even though there were two front-row tables available. When we asked to move, they said someone else had requested the table -- but no one ever sat there. They pretended to "clean" it and then left it untouched the entire time. When we tried to call the waitress a few times, she sounded irritated every time she approached. The service felt dismissive and careless, and it honestly ruined the visit. Horrible experience overall. Definitely not worth coming for the view or the food anymore.

The service was fantastic. The drinks were absolutely amazing (pumpkin spice latte with actual pumpkin ftw). The best lemon ricotta pancakes I've ever eaten and the rest of the menu was also stellar. Can't beat the views of the seals and swimmers just down the cliff.

Came here Super Bowl Sunday. Sun was shining, parking was easy, and brunch had no wait. Coast toast was incredible, surprised how they can replicate the exact taste and texture of a souffle!

I've been coming to Brockton Villa for nearly a decade. Their iconic Coast Toast has made it one of my all-time favorite spots for breakfast or brunch. That said, prices have really climbed over the years. These days, it's more of an occasional treat than a regular stop. Honestly, if it weren't for the nostalgia, I'm not sure it would still feel worth it. That ocean breeze (and smell haha) is definitely part of the experience. Be sure to make a reservation on OpenTable and give yourself extra time for parking.

We went in November. This is a cute place! We were sat outside on the patio so I have no idea what the inside looks like. The bathrooms for the patio were outside so I'm not sure if there was another bathroom inside. The menu is pretty big. We shared the Brockton Bloody Mary. Pretty good house made bloody mix! For the entrees, we did the Big Bad Wolf and Crab Ipanema. The Big Bad Wolf had a lot of ham and sausage. The Crab Ipanema is a benedict with blue crab cakes and they are pretty big! For dessert, we shared the Banana's Foster french toast. The bread was thick and hard so not my favorite, but the flavor of the rum sauce and caramelized bananas are delicious.

Hands down the best Caesar salad I have ever had. The flavor was unreal and honestly surprised me in the best way. The ocean view makes everything even better. You're sitting right above La Jolla Cove with the waves and sea lions right in front of you. It's such a peaceful and beautiful place to eat. Happy hour is definitely a plus, and the atmosphere feels warm, coastal, and welcoming. I also had the arancini and it was beyond amazing. Perfectly crispy, cheesy, and so flavorful. Brockton Villa Restaurant is one of those spots you remember. Amazing food, stunning views, and an all-around great experience. I highly recommend it. Addison was our server and she made everything even more enjoyable. She was so sweet, attentive, and genuinely added to the great vibe of the meal. THANK YOU!

The best French Toast I have ever had. I would like to come back and try the rest of the flavors. This is a great spot for Brunch. Our server, Freddie was very helpful and friendly and made our dining experience enjoyable. We were seated in the patio to look over the amazing view but we move by the cozy fireplace to keep our food and us warm. I hope to try their lunch items too.

We made a reservation for 2 at 11:30 on a Thursday and were seated promptly! It was a rather rainy/sunny (combo?) day so the outside seating was closed since it was wet. There was also a spot that kept dripping water near our table, likely due to the rain that day. We were seated on the deck next to the door so it seemed a little cramped, but almost every table seemed kind of crammed all into one deck that faced the ocean. Luckily there was plastic tarp to block out the rain/wind! The burrito was okay! It wasn't memorable but putting the chips inside the burrito & adding their hot sauce made it slightly better. The banana french toast was definitely the star of the show-- it was an amazingly soft, yet not soggy, baguette coated in syrup, bananas, walnuts and powdered sugar, it was not overpoweringly sweet either! I would come back for the quaint ambiance and the view, and to try out the rest of their pancakes on the menu.

    Do they have a surcharge?

Did today. I've never had one before. Not thrilled.

    Do they take reservations?

    Yes, OpenTable

Do they allow dogs on the patio?

    Is breakfast available during lunch?

Yes breakfast is available during lunch hours

On weekdays, what time is breakfast served till?

    Whole day

    Is this place pet friendly?

Not really. It is too crowded, for one thing. It is a small beach bungalow-turned-restaurant and there isn't that much space between tables. So even a small dog would be close to other people.

Does it accommodate big groups as 14 people?

I believe it does. There is a large main dining are where they can put together several tables. I would call to confirm but I believe I have seen parties like you are describing.

Pardon my question, but can you smell the seals from here?

On certain days, there is definitely a fishy smell coming from the coast (I've been living in the area 30 years now). In my opinion, usually the food and view is worth it! There's inside seating if you prefer, but you won't get the view. ;)

Does the restaurant have parking? Is it recommended for children?…

It has side street parking only and yes,it is recommended for children.

Weekday brunch worked in our favor parking was just a block away, and there was no wait, a welcome change from the usual crowds. The staff greeted us promptly and seated us on the patio, where the setting felt as charming as I remembered. I'm typically an eggs Benedict loyalist, but this time I was in the mood to explore more of the menu. We ordered the pastrami sandwich and the French dip, both generously stacked and visually promising. Unfortunately, while the portions impressed, the flavors didn't quite deliver. The pastrami felt like it was missing a key note something bright and tangy to balance it. I ended up adding dill pickles at home, which helped, but not enough to make it memorable. The French dip had a similar issue; the au jus leaned more toward a thick sauce rather than the lighter, savory broth you hope to dip into. The side salad was fresh, the fries perfectly crisp both enjoyable but they couldn't quite make up for the lack of depth in the sandwiches themselves. Next time, I'll stick with what they're known for and return to the breakfast classics. I'm not giving up on The Cottage just yet it simply deserves another chance, with a different order.
