We are giving Destiny Coast 10 out of 5 stars! Our waiter, Kevin Hart (Yes you read that correctly) was absolutely amazing and served us so well. After a delayed, long flight from the East Coast to San Diego this was our first stop and we could not say more about the amazing food and how welcoming they were. We were really close to their last seating and they still were able to accommodate us and offer us our first meal of our anniversary trip. Not only was Kevin absolutely incredible and a generous host, our food was amazing. For appetizers, we had the tuna and the salmon belly which was so fresh and flavorful. For dinner, we had the steak and short ribs with the smashed potatoes which were all absolutely divine. They were so great with my gluten allergies and providing gluten-free options, and checking into any accommodations that we needed. Drinks were fabulous and cannot recommend this place for some amazing food and a great atmosphere and views. Unfortunately, we missed the sunset by a few minutes but we were able to see some spectacular ocean views and have a wonderful meal at the same time. Didn't know what to expect coming to this place. Was able to see that it was by the coast but the moment that we got up the stairs, WOW! one of the most incredible views that I've ever seen at a restaurant. It is truly breathtaking. This place is a little different as you order your breakfast food at the counter and then find an open table. All of our dishes were really good both the sweet and savory items. I was very excited to visit this restaurant, especially because it was recommended by a doctor I work with. We went to celebrate my friend's birthday, and I really wanted it to be a special day for her. Unfortunately, it ended up being one of the worst dining experiences we've ever had. Our server, Luke, was rude and had an attitude from the very beginning. Whenever I asked questions about the menu, he responded in a dismissive and unpleasant way. Our food took more than 30 minutes to arrive, and during that time, he never came by to check on us or ask if we needed anything. At one point, my friend accidentally spilled her water, leaving water on the floor, and no one came to clean it up. I also asked Luke if they had anything special for birthdays. He laughed and said, "No, we don't have anything," and then dropped the dessert menu in the middle of the table. At that point, I was already extremely frustrated with the service. What made it worse was that I noticed he was very attentive and friendly with other tables, so it was difficult not to feel that we were being treated differently. When I asked for the check, Luke brought the payment tablet. I was holding my card, and instead of explaining the amount or asking how we wanted to pay, he simply reached over, grabbed my purse from the empty chair, and walked away. He later came back, took the card from my hand, and was about to process the payment. I stopped him and said, "Excuse me, you never told me how much the bill was." The total was $117.24. I was planning to pay the entire bill because it was my friend's birthday, but Luke then asked why I hadn't told him that I was paying the whole bill. I told him that he had never asked us how we wanted to pay. At that point, I asked to speak with the manager. About five minutes later, the manager came out and told me that Luke had said we were "having problems." I explained that the problem was not that we were difficult customers--the problem was the way Luke had treated us and the poor service we received. The manager tried to justify his behavior by explaining that Luke wears a hearing aid. I told her that his hearing aid had nothing to do with the way he spoke to us or treated us. I have never been made to feel as uncomfortable or unwelcome in a restaurant as I did during this experience. I told the manager that I would never return to the restaurant. What good is a beautiful view if the service makes the entire experience miserable? And after we left, the manager brought out a cookie. At that point, a cookie didn't change anything. The birthday dinner and the experience had already been ruined. I really wanted this to be a special celebration for my friend, but unfortunately, the poor service completely overshadowed everything. I would not recommend this restaurant, and I will not be returning. read more

3-4.5 stars. I think the items available are on the expensive side and you're mainly paying for the view. (Even though down below and all that is free). The parking lot, I believe, is paid parking or valet only and very small. So, it is recommended to park on the streets. It can be a little difficult and there may be some walking up hills involved. The set up is strange: you walk in and order at the counter. Then they will hand you your pastries on a plate with napkins and silverware, and then give you table number plaque. If you ordered something savory, for breakfast/brunch... then they will bring that out to your table along with your drinks. What I didn't like was that, we basically ordered everything "for here" aka to sit down and enjoy --- and then they brought out the iced drinks in plastic cups. And mind you, we are right next to the beach, this spot is basically located at a Marine Conservation Facility. And they decided to use single use plastic cups which are known to be a threat to marine life and their ecosystems... I am not saying that people at Destiny Coast will be littering -- but I feel like they should have been more thoughtful of this sort of thing. Why is it that serving in glassware/ceramic ware for drinks is so uncommon now? I would like to see more variety for coffee sizes. I believe they only had one iced size and that was a 20 oz (~$9). Way too much milk, I prefer 12 oz iced lattes. I went with their Iced Purple Haze Latte, as you can guess that involves a lavender syrup. Their lavender syrup tasted odd. I would not get it again and I wouldn't recommend it. My mom had the Iced Sunrise Latte aka their sea salted caramel latte, and I would say it was a little better, but it needed more sea salt. My mom's friend had the Iced Matcha Passion Fruit Lemonade. She said it was refreshing, but couldn't taste the passion fruit at all and the price was ~$11. We ordered a few pastries to share: - $7, Peaches & Cream Muffin: This was good! I liked how moist and fluffy it was. I think it would be better without the walnuts (which was a surprise addition! I did not see any mention of this). I think if they want crunch, a classic addition would be some turbinado sugar. I would order this again. - $9, Ube Blueberry Mini Bundt Cake: The ube flavor didn't come though at all. The blueberry was nice and tart, the cake is not sweet at all. There was a slight citrus taste to it, reminding me of a lemon glaze, That classic blueberry lemon combo. - $7, Cranberry Kumquat Scone: My mom came back specifically for this scone. Safe to say she enjoys it! It is not insanely dry and crumbly like others can be. If you prefer not too sweet, you'll enjoy this! Overall, it was a nice place to come with family/friends, the view of course is gorgeous, the workers were kind, and the pastries were fun to try. They have shaded spots as well, so you have the choice if you wanna be in the sun or not. Minimal indoor seating. First, the location and food was a 5/5. This review is about something I saw that was appalling. One of the staff dropped a tin of Caviar on the floor. Right behind the cashier where everyone is walking by. The lid fell off and the lid landed food side down, the side that is in contact with the caviar, touching the floor. Next, what looked like the manager lady, a bit older than the rest of staff, told them to pick it up. The staff picked it up, and put the lid back on the caviar tin and put it back in the mini fridge. I mean I understand caviar is expensive but this is basic food safety. I couldn't believe the manager actually told them to put it back in as opposed to throwing it away. This alone should not happen and management should know better than that. Tried a bunch of dishes and you really can't go wrong. Only minor feedback is that they didn't have menus for the line, which made it hard to decide due to the tv menus changing. This was a great last minute brunch find! We were looking for a spot where we didn't need reservations with a beautiful view and we hit the jack pot! The hostess was so nice she cleaned a table next to the glass panel with a view for us when I asked for a nice table closest to the edge. The food was amazing! You could see the paragliders as you enjoy your meal and it was such a good experience for my husband and I. We got lucky with the parking but they do offer valet. Came here on Monday for breakfast. For a wonderful place. It has specifically reserved parking for the customers. You order at the counter and they bring food for you. You select your own seating. The views are amazing, definitely hard to beat such views. The menu is definitely on expensive side but you are paying for the view as well. They have a pretty decent menu. My husband had breakfast burrito and I had a protein bowl with quinoa and chicken. We also had a green smoothie and a cappuccino. Food was fresh and very tasty. Service was pretty good as well. Destiny Coast is one of the many amazing brunch places that has a stunning ocean view that San Diego has to offer! This place is relatively new, so it's not super crowed, YET! We came on a Sunday morning, around 10 am. There are still plenty of street parking along the road. They offer valet parking if you are preferred. The place has an interesting set up where they operate more like a cafe where you order inside at the cashier, then they bring food and coffee to the table. You find a table on your own, so limited service for people who enjoy a more relaxing and free brunch style. I was surprised to see coffee to be served in the to-go cups. That, in my opinion, drops its quality despite they offer quite a variety of interesting coffee and drinks options. For the food, they are decent. They have somewhat limited breakfast/brunch menu compared to other full serviced brunch restaurants. We overall enjoyed the breakfast here and really loved the outdoor patio and the beautiful view. One thing that we weren't happy about is that they kept pushing us out. We were disappointed that our conversation had to cut short. The view is absolutely spectacular and the food was wonderful! Service was friendly. The only problem, and it's a BIG one, is the parking. There are maybe 10 parking spaces in the lot which will undoubtedly be full when you arrive. I got stuck with a train of other cars trying to turn around in an extremely small lot. People were honking and yelling at each other to move, but there was nowhere to go. It was very stressful! After I finally escaped the lot, I went up the hill and into the residential neighborhood above the restaurant and found what seemed like the last spot. Then I had to make my way back down to the restaurant which was a bit of a trek (in heels ) The website is definitely misleading. See photo. Absolutely stunning outdoor patio with views of Scripps Pier and the gliders from Torrey Pines. The sausage stuffed dates were certainly unique and delicious with fennel and pumpkin seeds. The short ribs were tender with a creamy polenta and kale salad. I didn't think the olives went particularly well with the short ribs but overall it was delicious. The olive oil cake was moist with a smooth meringue topping. The espresso used for the affogato was a bit too bitter for my liking but the ice cream was yummy. We were scouring through Yelp to find a new restaurant to try out. We found Destiny Coast to be on the list of eateries with a view! Our GPS took us to the first entrance. The sign indicated the restaurant, but it was for deliveries only! It's technically not the restaurant's fault, but it seemed challenging at that moment. After turning around and took the second entrance, we found it! The parking lot was small. That's free parking. There's paying parking on the main street in front of the restaurant entrance. As we walked in, we were quickly greeted by several staff members. We grabbed a menu and stood in line to order. We ended up ordering the Orchard Chicken Salad Croissant and the Coastal Chickpea & Salmon bowl. We also ordered the Sunrise Latte, Purple Haze Latte, and two of the chef's specials of the cinnamon rolls. After ordering, they handed us a number. They told us they would deliver our order at our table. I believe the dinner service is the table service. OHMYGOODNESS!! The food was very fresh and delicious! My croissant had the outside crunch to it. The inside was very moist and buttery tasting. Everything was made with love! The main seating area is within ocean view. It was nice to sit and chat with the soft ocean waves in the background. It was a beautiful lunch day!! I found this place on Instagram and wanted a brunch spot with a nice view for my birthday. They do have parking, but we parked on the street and walked a little. It wasn't too bad at all. I didn't try any food this time, but I did have two Bloody Marys (I love a good Bloody, and it was my birthday after all), and they were great. All nine of us agree it was the best meal of the year. Flatbread, artichoke Beignets, hummus (this is not your basic-B hummus, it's dolled up and we ordered a second), tuna crudo, lamb meatballs and mussels. For dinner, the mediterranean chicken was the star. It's huge. The kids fought over the leftovers the next day. Short ribs came in next, and the salads, salmon, and pasta dishes were devoured. For dessert, Basque cheesecake. Authentic. Wiggly center. The manager (who made the rounds several times to ensure the night was running smoothly) recommended the olive oil cake with lemon meringue. Never had anything like it and it was the star dessert. The chocolate mousse was not my favorite, but there was nothing left at the end of the night. Dress for at least two seasons. It was hot and sunny when we got there, and then cool and foggy on the way out. It's become challenging to find a place where the price point meets the quality of food, service, and environment. They also have a few lounge chairs and open seating areas that are first come, first served. You order at the counter, and they bring the food out to you. The chicken croissant sandwich we ordered was huge and super filling. It was enough to feed three people. The croissant was soft and flaky, and the chicken filling was flavorful. It was a really satisfying sandwich. We also tried their house special cinnamon roll. I might be in the minority here, but it didn't quite live up to my expectations. The frosting tasted more like cream cheese than a sweet icing, and the flavor felt a little underwhelming to me. The roll itself wasn't as soft as I prefer. Overall, I loved the ambiance, and the sandwich and ambiance alone makes it worth visiting. Next time, I'd try a different dessert and skip the cinnamon roll. Parking is limited. The views are to die for looking into downtown La Jolla and then up the coast, gives you the quintessential southern California feel. I feel that the food was not the most amazing and for the price. This chicken orchard sandwich was big portion but I would have preferred a soft croissant. It is a harder crunch croissant and my friend also got one too and thought the same thing. The side usually is a salad but I upgraded for the potatoes. I will say I'm a HUGE potato lover and the potatoes were delicious and highly recommend. Two of my other friends got the salmon bowl which they did like. My friends and I each got various coffees: Purple Haze Latte, sunrise latte, and pacific coast cloud. All the coffees did taste delicious. I only gave this 3 stars because I feel that with the parking situation how you have to park on the hill parallel and walk down, and their lot is only valet, it's a bit annoying. It's first come first serve seating so we didn't get a table closer with a view even though we called ahead, then later they said those were saved for other people - kinda confusing. The views is definitely what makes this place. The food is pretty good but as others have mentioned the price tag is pretty high. Came on a Mon for lunch and it wasn't too busy. They have probably about 6 or 7 free parking spots out front but otherwise it's all paid parking or free street parking a bit of a walk away. They are set up cafeteria style where you order at the counter first and they give you a number to bring your food out. You order from a menu but they also have a bunch of pastries on display before you order. I got the avocado blt tartine with the petite salad (also had the option for truffle chips). The tartine did not skimp on the avocadoes which was appreciated and everything was well seasoned. It did say it should come with sunflower seeds but mine didn't have any on it. The bacon was cut in thin strips and was nice and crispy. Salad was well seasoned and also had tomatoes, cucumbers and radishes in it. read more

Amazing View and really good food but their prices are excessive... I had two black coffees, an omelette and a yogurt and my bill was over $60 (plus tip)... So if they bring the prices down, I'd come back, but as it is now: no way! read more

I would honestly give this restaurant 10 stars if I could. Dining here was like a mini luxury retreat for my palate and my soul. The ocean views are epic and sprawling. The service was friendly and kind. It's a hybrid model where you order at the counter and then you seat yourself and they bring the food to your table. I ordered the Green Goddess bowl and the Sunrise smoothie. The prices are astronomical but the freshness, flavor and ambiance are undeniable. It was as if my body received an IV of nutrition. I would eat here every day if I could! And I didn't get to try any of the baked goods but they were definitely eye candy to say the least. read more
