The bowl was super good though. Very fresh and a large portion. Could have had some more of the special sauce they put on it but all in all it was super yummy and recommend it for a fresh meal. Stopped by hungry after kayaking the caves and was greeted at the front by a cardboard cutout of the rock lol. After we sat ourselves, a nice waitress came and gave us menus and some water. Music was blasting and the atmosphere was great! We decided on the yellowfin ahi poke bowl (seared ginger scallion style) and paid a bit extra for the load it up! option, which added seaweed salad, avo, edamame, cucumber, and cabbage salad. It was yummy! The ginger flavor was not too overwhelming, and it really came through in the ahi. We also got the carne asada beach bowl, which unfortunately didn't have as much flavor as we had hoped. The portion size was pretty generous and overall the ingredients seemed fairly fresh. The food was good, staff was good, However the ambiance was ruined when their delivery truck decided to show up during lunch rush and made my whole stomach churn. But I am keeping my food and beer down. It's just a bad way of service when the delivery truck is late. Being only a block and half off the beach, chill vibe, we strolled in wearing board shorts and a bikini, had a seat at the bar, grabbed a cocktail, or two or three, caught the 2nd half of the 49ers game then go get some more saltwater on the skin and sand between the toes. The food is absolutely delicious! You can go wrong with anything on the menu. Whatever you get will be tasty. Some of their foods you can definitely share with another person so get more than one item so you can try more than one thing! I got the grilled salmon bowl with sticky rice and YUM! It was soooo good!! Definitely going to get that again when I go back. Definitely fills you up. They have different specials everyday with food and drinks. Their drinks and foods aren't expensive and reasonably priced. There is also only street parking but I have never struggled or ever had to circle multiple times. I have always found a spot which is great. Parking isn't bad. The service is excellent! The waiters, waitresses and bartenders are wonderful and absolutely nice! Always helpful and always giving great recommendations and always patient with answering questions or helping out small or large parties. The inside is such a vibe. I loved the whole beach vibe since hence they are close to the beach lol. It's really cute inside. They have plenty of seating with tables, booths and bar seating. The grill wasn't working that day, which was a little disappointing, but the rest of the menu made up for it. The ahi tuna poke bowl was fabulous, and a generously large portion for $21. I loved the wonton chips as an addition. Only complaint would be the edamame being pretty cold, otherwise was great and I'd order it again. My boyfriend enjoyed the tacos, the carne being his favorite and the fish being his least favorite. The breading wasn't crunchy and was a bit thick. Unfortunately though the chips were so thick and seemed to be re-fried. Service was absolutely terrible, and i want to start by saying I have never written a bad review before. I Went to shore rider to watch the padres playoff game and our server didnt greet us right away, didn't really think too much of it. Then I asked her about the special padre nachos they had, I don't know if this was too many questions for her, but I could immediately tell she was annoyed with us. From there she then asked me, "are the padres even playing"!? I told her yes and then she told me "ok well you can order when the game starts then" At this point I could tell her vibe with our table was off, I then just order the tacos as I know they have 2 dollars off tacos on tuesdays. She brings us our food and I didn't think much of it and then she left. As I started eating my tacos I noticed they were cold. At this point I'm too hungry to send them back and just ate them anyways. She doesnt come to our table once and continues to check on other tables around us. Me and my buddy are wondering if she is purposefully avoiding our table because it seemed obvious she was. She then finally comes to our table and asks how everything is and if everything is ok. I told her "actually no it's not, my tacos were cold and I think my buddy's were too". She then proceeds to say "okay?". No apology or anything or at least a courtesy I'm sorry your food was cold! Then she just walks away, seemed like she went to the kitchen, don't know if she actually told them or not about the food. Then the bar back or bartender gave me water and sauce for my food as I had to ask him. Wish I coulda tipped him personally honestly because he was much nicer. NOW this is the part that made me write this terrible review. When it came time to pay she asked if we were going to split the check. We said yes, my friend pays first, I think he tipped. Then it's my turn and in front of her I purposefully chose to tip 1.00 to maybe see if she would apologize or ask if everything was ok. SHE GRABBED THE TAP TO PAY DEVICE OUT OF MY HANDS, and selected no tip and says "Don't even bother" with attitude. My friend and I looked at eachother shocked. I then watched her go to the bartender or barback and say "he didn't tip", don't know what she said for sure, but looked like she was visibly complaining about me not tipping. Overall worst server experience I think I have ever had. It was Tuesday night, 9/29 and she was the server working the booths by the bar. I wish I got her name honestly. I have worked in a restaurant before, some of my friends are also servers and that was just a terrible experience at a good restaurant in a nice area. I have been there before and I thought it was a nice place had no complaints that time. I honestly wouldn't have even wrote this if she didn't grab the tap to pay out of my hand. Definitely worth the one star and to complain about someone not tipping when your service was awful, you were rude, and grabbed something out of my hands is insane to me. read more
