Super fun spot for date night. Recommend going on their Taco Tuesdays -- the live mariachi band and the taco specials were great. Prompt and attentive service. Highlights were the hamachi ceviche, barramundi fish tacos, made from scratch! Don't forget the fun drinks! Highly recommend Mai tai, or the Poof (for NA option)

SOLE was quote possibly the best server we have ever had the honor of being served by. From the moment she greeted us to the extra tip we provided, it was top notch service and she always knew exactly what to say and how to answer any question we had. We were also very pleasantly surprised at how delicious every item was that we ordered. We had the wagyu salisbury steak (nostalgic!) which was really great. Trimmings are used from the other steak entrees and the jus was to die for. We also really enjoyed the cabbage with fried garlic chips and homemade chili crisp sauce. Do not forget to get their sourdough which was deliciously crispy on the outside with a brown butter wash. It was quite possibly the best sourdough we have had and well worth the extra stomach space. The frozen dirty martini was a bit overdiluted for our taste so we opted for a classic martini up, which was great. Their cocktail menu is fun and worth trying one or two. We also had some bad luck and the fresh Cacio e Pepe we ordered was inedibly salty. Sole was polite in letting us know how it is prepared and that the pecorino could be a bit salty, unfortunately we have had many variations in the past and were familiar. They may have generously over salted the water it was boiled in, or the fresh pasta itself was over salted. We did not want it comped, we just couldn't take more than a bite nor did we want to take it home. Needless to say they worked to have it removed anyway. We would've paid for it no problem. The service and food was fantastic otherwise. It was really thoughtful of her/them to remove it anyway. The drinks came without delay and even their manager would stop by to help out. A great team, a great experience. Would definitely come again.

We can count the number of date nights we have an annual basis on one hand these days, so every outing is incredibly precious for us. This place delivered. We were able to celebrate with the chef's menu at Paradisaea. Husband parked on a side street about 1.5 blocks away while I got dropped off at the corner. Not too difficult. Drinks were on point, recommendations for cocktails were delightful and the house gave a little tasting of sparkling to honor our celebration. I really liked my sancerre sauvignon blanc, it was a nice pairing with the red snapper (which was over on cookery but still delicious with the good amount of beurre blanc sauce and flawlessly cooked carrots). All of the food was so, so tasty. I even forgot to take a picture of the SRF steak with bearnaise, demiglace and pomme puree because I was too busy enjoying. Portions were definitely enough, to the point that we were very full at the end of the meal. Our server was lovely and perfectly attentive, and the decor was really cute and pretty. All in all, paradisaea was a wonderful place to spend our 10th wedding anniversary. Was worth the 30 minute drive each way just to get to Bird Rock. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality.

Booked this for a date night with my fiance, and while our service was great and the ambiance of the restaurant was nice, we both felt the food fell short, especially for the price. We ordered the hamachi, sourdough, steak frites and the Cacio e Pepe to share. Hamachi had good flavor, but there was a noticeably fishy aftertaste - more than expected ($36) Sourdough came out hot and was tasty, but both the bread and butter were over salted. I tend to like salt more than most and even for me it was a bit much ($15) Steak Frites were the most disappointing. For $77, the portion was small and the steak wasn't particularly tender, but it was edible. The fries were also heavily salted to the point that we couldn't finish them. Cacio e Pepe was probably our favorite but if I'm going to go off of preference here, the tagliatelle was thinner than we prefer for a sauce that rich. Also, $40 for cheese and pepper will never make sense to me - even if it's premium. Overall, a nice setting and good service but I really just felt the food didn't live up to the price point.

An eclectic and fun restaurant! Came here for date night with my boyfriend and we enjoyed the chef's menu with the wine pairing. Staff was very friendly and were even helping a group of girls find a lost ring underneath all of the furniture and decor.

We didn't have reservations and we got 2 seats at the bar so it was not a bad night at all. Hostesses and bartenders were so nice, professional, and accommodating. The restaurant is packed for dinner, and rightfully so the food was really delicious. We got the Caesar salad, branzino, bread, and a soft serve sundae. Everything was just perfect. Really comfy bar stools. Pretty and clean interior. Bathrooms get really busy so I wish they had more than 4 stalls for the entire restaurant and a handwashing station for those who just want to rinse before or after a meal. Looking forward to being back here, so fun and delicious.

Gold Label Wagyu; well seasoned, perfectly tender. Solid dish, would order again.

Food: I would rate it an 8/10. It was really delicious, but it's not my favorite restaurant in San Diego. While the dishes were well executed, nothing felt truly elevated or particularly special. Service: Our server was great; very attentive and she really made our friend feel special on her birthday. However, if you're a large party looking to celebrate a birthday, this might not be the place. Another waiter told us we were being too loud while we were simply enjoying dinner and celebrating our friend. The music is already quite loud, and the tables are very close together, which may have made it seem louder than it actually was. Still, it was disappointing to hear that someone complained while we were just celebrating. We even noticed two couples seated behind us walk out. At that point, it really took away from the experience and completely killed the vibe for our group. So if you're looking for a lively place to celebrate with a group, this may not be the best spot; you might be asked to keep it down and get some uncomfortable looks from other diners........Awkward.

My fiance surprised me with birthday dinner reservations here and it was probably the best birthday dinner I've ever had! My birthday just happened to be on Taco Tuesday where they had a mariachi band! We ordered the hamachi ceviche, steak frites, and cacio e pepe to share. It's so hard to choose which dish was my favorite! I would order the hamachi ceviche and steak frites again. The hamachi was so flavorful and the steak was so tender. The steak sauce had the perfect amount of pepper and wasn't overpowering. I also ordered an espresso martini and it is one of the best ones I've ever had! The cream top is sweet and the alcohol taste isn't strong. Our server brought out a complimentary dessert which was ice cream and honey combs and it was the most perfect way to end the night. The mariachi band even sang happy birthday to me! I can't wait to come back already.

We had one of the best food experiences at Paradisea in La Jolla -- the food itself was absolutely incredible and memorable. That said, the service experience unfortunately took away from it a bit. Throughout dinner, one taller server with tattoos repeatedly walked extremely close to my husband's chair -- to the point of bumping into him multiple times while we were mid-conversation. It became distracting and uncomfortable over the course of the meal, especially since it kept happening throughout the night. Our actual server was kind, but very quiet, and we received almost no explanation of the menu or dishes. Even as returning guests, for a restaurant at this price point, I do think guests should receive a more thoughtful walkthrough of the menu and overall dining experience. The food truly was amazing, but the service and floor awareness could definitely be improved. We will still be back- but such a specific concern deserves the right attention!

We celebrated my daughter's engagement here, and loved everything about it. The service was attentive, and given by seven different people throughout our tasting menu experience. We loved the inventive drink menu and colorful presentations. Each of the entrées was a work of art, with a particular highlight of the dessert being a perfect mix of textures and flavors. Seeing the kitchen team perform their magic in the open was a treat for an old restaurant hand.

10/10. Stumbled upon this restaurant tucked in the Bird Rock neighborhood while visiting. We had the chefs tasting menu with the wine pairing and I can not say how amazing and delicious this was! Each meal kept getting better and better! Service was a 10/10 and the spacing of the meals was timed perfectly. Can not complain. Atmosphere was amazing and decor was perfect.

Amazing chefs tasting menu. Photos of all attached aside from the beef tenderloin over mashed potatoes which I forgot to snap! The oyster was heavenly, the hamachi as well. The cocktails were incredible and the wine. The pasta dish was delicious and so unique. The dessert presented in the caviar container was cute! But the panna cotta one blew us away. My only "hmm!" moment was the trout which was served medium rare and was just not my favorite texture but I did eat every bite so I couldn't have disliked it that much. Our waitress Elise Marie was awesome, and the rest of the wait staff that helped us as well!! We were sat on the patio on a perfect weather evening. 10/10!

Are Sunday afternoon sunset happy hours still in effect? If so, is there a bar menu available online? Thank you.

I think the bar menu is the same as the regular menu, you can eat dinner in the bar. I think they do the happy hour menu on sundays but it is a deal on certain cocktails.

    Is happy hour every day?

    Wednesday through Sunday 3 - 5 pm

Yelp shows it's only open Wednesday and Thursday, is this accurate? Website was no help.

This is not accurate. Paradisaea is open for dinner Wed-Thu 5pm-9pm, Fri-Sat 5pm-10pm, and Sun 5pm-8pm. Their bar opens an hour before on all of those days at 4pm. Hope this helps!

Is a reservation needed for bar seating?

No, you don't need reservations for bar seating. When my husband and I went a few weeks ago without reservations, we were offered seating at the bar or outside.

Can we walk in for bar seating at 5pm?

    Highly unlikely

It's a big place with multiple indoor/outdoor seating options. Cute. We ate there every morning for breakfast because it's the best option nearby and opens early. It has baked goods, all do the coffee options, a full bar that opens later in the day, and good prepared meals. Didn't like the waffle as much as I thought I would, maybe 4 or 5 on the star scale. The fruit, whipped cream, and syrup for it were solid. My friends tried chai bowls, fresh fruit, banana bread, breakfast burritos, and other pastries if not enjoying the (delicious!!!) turkey sandwich. I did find myself wishing there were fresh juice options. A fresh OJ or green juice would have hit the spot and I couldn't find plain fresh squeezed I the area. All and all, super delighted by this find and scores a 5.

I'm just extremely disappointed with how poor my experience was today because I had only super positive experiences previously and was looking forward to dining there this morning after sometime away, but holy hell ....today's experience has been so profoundly bad. Firstly, my husband ordered two breakfast burritos - one with bacon and the other with bacon on the side. I'll chalk this one up to miscommunication, but they put bacon in one, and bacon in the other too - and then added bacon on the side to the other and charged us $5.50 for the extra bacon. Again, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt here and will be sure to communicate explicitly next time. They kindly made me a new one, but the new one had potatoes that weren't cooked thoroughly (likely to rush the food to me, so I acknowledge the difficulty here), however there was hardly any avocado. I literally had to complain again because I didn't believe there was any avocado at all. I wouldn't be as pissed if this weren't an EIGHTEEN DOLLAR breakfast burrito. Lastly, the coffee lids don't fit on the cups. We tried to put one on and ended up spilling the entire coffee. I chalked this up to an accident on our part, however another patron who observed our incident said "their lids don't fit the cup, right??" And I was like "oh so it wasn't just us??" And she was like "no, I almost spilled mine all over too." This random patron encouraged us to ask for a new cup of coffee as a result (thanks, random patron!). The Molly's team did kindly make us a new (albeit quite bitter) drink, which I appreciate. However, the lid was still an issue - it would spill out of the cup all over the rim between the cup and the lid when I'd try to take a sip, so I took off the lid entirely, but then was stuck with dealing with spills while walking around - I had to move at a snail's pace to prevent spills altogether. This was easier to deal with random leakage around the entire cup every time I'd sip with the lid on. Ultimately It was just a lose-lose with the ill fitting lid situation. All this to say - Molly's Team, yall were fantastic just a month ago. What happened? I understand food and services in the beach area stuff are often expensive and rarely good, but you guys are *too* expensive for this poor of service and quality. Two stars because at least the folks there are generally nice.

At the time we came in there weren't many people, but a crowd started gathering after about 30 minutes or so, which was nice! Our food came out - with a decent amount of wait time - and it looked great! We ordered a couple of cocktails from the menu as well, which we got right away. I had gotten something similar to an Espresso Martini, but the drink fell short in both the taste and the presentation. My beer battered fish tacos were good, but nothing extraordinary. I believed they lacked a bit of taste...perhaps seasoning? The jam burger on the other hand, extremely juicy and flavorful! The fries were nice and crispy & seasoned. Overall, the food and drink were a bit inconsistent, but it may also very well be the items I ordered. For that, I'm docking it one star, but again it may come down to my taste buds and previous items I've had from other grills. I'd definitely give it a try, again, and keep exploring their menu.

The…read morecommitment to their nautical theme is unmatched alongside every detail that makes this such a unique and fun experience. It's a speakeasy that shares a hidden entrance next to the Grass Skirt which is also an amazing experience but a tiki theme. The cocktail menu is as creative as the design. I had a wonderful scotch recipe called "My Way or the Islay."(sorry I didn't take a photo). It's a fun riff of a classic Penicillin. You can see in the video and photos they spared no attention to detail. The massive octopus on the ceiling is one of the first things you notice when you walk in. It's wild because you can imagine Jack Sparrow bellied up at the bar. I highly recommend this place so next time you are in PB check them out. Salute @thejohnnycocktail

We brought a friend from out of town to enjoy this place, which they did! We are all currently sober so we got all their mocktails which was a good little variety! We got the Planet Hollywood, Amalfi Spritz, Ka Wai Olada, and a mocktail of our servers choosing (and he knocked it out of the park!). We also got the crispy cauliflower, ham and cheese bites, and mozzerella arancini. Everything came out beautiful and delicious! I'll run through everything. Planet Hollywood: absolutely stunning! Delicious and bright, everyone's favorite Amalfi Spritz: definitely need to be an aperol fan but overall beautiful drink Ka Wai Olada: tropical and refreshing Bartneders Choice: cucumber mint drink was AMAZING and exactly what is needed after a hot day, it should be on the menu!! Crispy cauliflower: everyone's favorite! So flavorful and crispy and the yogurt goes with it so well. Mozzarella arancini: delicious Ham and cheese bites: a little too small, kind of dry, but good flavors. Probably won't get again. Also HUGE shout out to our server who was absolutely phenomenal and made the entire experience amazing. We love sober options in a bar! I'm sorry your name is slipping my mind. But you made the experience! Will continue to frequent!

My husband and I went to dinner with a friend on a Sunday evening. First, the good, it wasn't…read moreparticularly busy, the staff was friendly, and it was a cute restaurant. They apparently have happy hour all day on Sundays. I tried the peach mocktail and it was very yummy, so I appreciated the $5 off. For dinner, I ordered the branzino (the one on the menu and not the special). I was told while the one on the normal menu was $47, the special was $55 and the only difference between the two was the special would be lit on fire table side. I didn't feel the flames were necessary, so I skipped that. (However, the special did mention a sauce that I'm not sure was actually on the regular one, so I don't actually know.) A few minutes before the food came out, they asked if we wanted it all together or if it would be ok for my husband and our friends food to come out first since they were still finishing my fish. I said to just bring it out when it was ready, however they ended up bringing it out together anyway. The confusing part though, all of our meals weren't served warm? You'd think if they were waiting on mine to be done it would have been at least warm? It wasn't. The branzio was very plainly seasoned, tasted heavily of oil and was also somewhat dry? I got it with the whipped sweet potatoes, which was very creamy, which was unlike any way I've ever had sweet potatoes before, but they didn't taste particularly good? We each tried them and none of us could figure out what it was like, but we all agreed we didn't enjoy them. My husband got the arrecherea, it was fine, but also cold. The fries it came with was probably the best part, they were crispy even while being cold. Our friend got the stuffed Mediterranean Stuffed Pepper, his meal also wasn't warm, and he said some of the rice wasn't cooked all the way and it was hard. We also got the Puccia Bread & Spreads after seeing positive reviews. I normally love feta cheese, but the feta dip was kind of sweet? Same with the eggplant. The only spread that was good was the butter. Personally, I thought the bread was fine? But it was almost a bit doughy. Overall, we weren't very impressed with the meal. It had a lot of potential, but the food just didn't hit the mark.

Absolutely phenomenal. I've been in San Diego all week and have eaten at several restaurants, and…read morethis was by far the best meal I've had. The seafood was incredibly fresh and perfectly seasoned. I actually stumbled upon this place by accident after I first stopped at Ms. B's Coco Shop down the block, but they had closed their kitchen a little earlier than I expected. Shaq recommended I give this place a try and even walked me over to introduce me to Ben. Ben gave outstanding seafood recommendations, was incredibly friendly, and knew the menu inside and out. I was already leaning toward what I ordered, and he reassured me I was making a great choice. His knowledge of the menu and genuine hospitality made the experience even better. The lobster and shrimp roll was hands down the best I've had in years. The mahi slider was just as impressive--perfectly seasoned, lightly breaded, and fried to perfection without the excessive batter that so many places use. Every bite let the fresh fish shine through. The atmosphere was exactly what you'd want from a beach bar--laid-back, welcoming, and fun. It felt like the kind of place where you could spend the day at the beach, walk over for a drink and some amazing food, and just relax. The entertainment setup was impressive too, with huge TVs and a really cool in-wall fireplace-style display. I can only imagine this place is the spot to be on game day. Overall, this is now at the top of my list whenever I'm craving seafood in San Diego. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in town.

Stopped by Guava Beach on a walk with friends to grab a margarita and was not disappointed!…read more This spot is a great stop during the day in Mission Beach! In addition to classic margaritas, Guava Beach also has a variety of unique margaritas! I ordered the Pink Dragon made with Nosotros Reposado, Triple Sec, dragon fruit syrup, Guava Beach's own custom-made margarita mix with a black lava salt rim and topped with a dragon fruit wheel garnish - sooo good! They also have an extensive cocktail list. We got some appetizers, including the waffle fries (massive portions) and chips and guacamole, which were both delicious! Definitely will be back to try more margs soon!
