I would come back herein a heartbeat. Any place that has an orange wine on the menu is a WIN. Beyond that, excellent service, knowledgeable staff, and ambience make this place an absolute delight. I highly recommend the Assyrtiko because it was incredible and I would buy it several times over. Amanda was a fantastic server. So good, truly.

I loved my visit to this little wine bar. We stopped in before a dinner reservation nearby so we didn't get a chance to try any of the food here just the wine. The people behind the bar were really helpful and friendly and all of the wine they recommended was delicious. I will definitely be back

Only been open for four months - this place is absolutely darling! One wall is lined with cork and decorated with wooden wine boxes. Amanda was super friendly and I chatted with a few locals. It's a true wine bar - everything on the list was available by the glass. I started with Champagne for $24, followed by a Crozes-Hermitage, and a glass of Sangiovese. My biggest regret is not coming here with a small group. The food is meant to be shareable. I took advantage of a couple of specials - duck pate and pigs in a blanket, yum! Then I ordered the cheese board because - wine and cheese, always? And it was huge. I wanted to try more food, but as a solo diner it was hard to justify that! Come to Gata, bring friends!

We were looking for a place to grab a drink before dinner in La Jolla and Gata did not disappoint. Cutest little wine bar with a dark moody cat inspired vibe. Service was wonderful and our bartender made some great selections. We didn't get any food, but we both loved the wines we chose. We will definitely be visiting again

Although I'm sure the locals would want this place gatekept, it's just too good not to share about. Gata is a newly opened wine bar in La Jolla village just across from its sister, Sushi Nekosan. The bar is giving very New York vibes with dimmed lighting, a chic vibe and a narrow bar area. There are seats along the bar or a few small tables running parallel behind them. This spot probably has a capacity of about 30 or so people, giving it a very intimate feel. They have a nice wine list with great options to choose from. My latest obsession is a crisp orange wine (perfect for summer!) and I enjoyed a great one here. This isn't just a place to grab drinks though. Gata is also serving up craft bites to perfectly accompany your glass. Service was stand out and I appreciated meeting Don, a fellow Hawaii transplant to the mainland. He definitely showed the aloha spirit and is infusing that welcoming charm into this stylish hot spot!

The ambiance and lighting are really on point for a wine bar. I enjoyed the Malbec. The service was very friendly as well. They just need a resident wine cat.

Gata is a new wine bar in the village of La Jolla that is a couple of doors to the west of the US Post Office. I believe it may have the same ownership as the sushi restaurant on the opposite side of Wall St. A cat symbol hung on the marquee above the business sign because that's the translation of gata. The suite was narrow with a darkly lit ambiance. The seating capacity including the spots at the bar was probably around 30 customers. I sat at a high-top table directly across from the bar. The one-page food menu featured three charcuterie boards, three panini sandwiches, and an assortment of tapas/small plates. I selected one item from each of the second and third categories... a Prosciutto di Parma, Gorgonzola, and Fig Jam Panini and Focaccia with Warm Reggiano Parmigiano and Roasted Garlic Confit. The latter came first on a platter with the bread pieces stacked on top of each other. A small cast iron pot was on the side holding the garlic confit. I was not expecting the liquid to be a vat of oil as there was too much of it which overshadowed the minced garlic. The sandwich was much better executed with two triangular halves displayed on a similar platter. Two pieces of artichoke were added on the side as garnishment. I loved the sweetness of the fig jam that contrasted the salty cured meat. One of the bartenders doubled as my server. He came around my table a few times to check how I was doing which I appreciated. I gave a four star rating for my dining experience at Gata.

I was running out of luck finding some grub on a Wednesday night in the posh but generally sleepy town of La Jolla. But how glad I am to have found Gata! Being a self professed fan of the feline, the whiskered marquee was but the beginning of a perfect end to my night in La Jolla. Gata is one of the only late nite spots here, and maybe the only one with food. I walked into a nice mix of locals and industry folks. The wine list had a good smattering of selections, and I had a nice peppery Syrah to accompany my cheese plate. The honeycomb on the plate was a much appreciated accoutrement. The food menu has a lot of the usual wine bar fare, and the kitchen is open until midnight! There are a lot of reasons to come here: the great vibe, late night hours, completely solid food and wine options, wonderful service from Jessie and the pumped up lounge vibe!

My new favorite spot in La Jolla! I love a wine bar and this place has such a unique, inviting feel. The decor is subtly 10/10, food is delicious (and the kitchen is open until midnight- woohoo!), great wine list, and an incredible staff. Special mention to Amanda who was just so sweet and passionate and made me and my friends experience that much better. Will definitely be back

This place is super cute reminds me of the wine bars in Europe. The service was great. Amanda was so friendly and amazing and had great recommendations. This place is also dog friendly so that's a plus. Their bacon wrap dates were amazing so tasty. The only downside is this place is a little pricey for a glass of wine in my opinion. But it is located in the heart of La Jolla.

I've had my eye on this place for a couple months now and finally got the chance to stop in. We came here as a post-dinner hang my group had just eaten in North Park, so we didn't try any of the small plates or tapas this time around (but they looked great). That said, this was a lovely little nightcap of a spot. The space is small but cozy and intimate, perfect for a quiet glass of wine mid-week. I went on a Wednesday around 9pm and had no problem finding parking, but just a heads up this area gets crazy on weekends, so plan accordingly if you're coming then. The wine selection was thoughtful and the service was warm and attentive. I loved that you can try a couple things before settling on your glass always a win when you're torn between options. All in all, good vibes, good pours, and I'll definitely be back next time, I'm diving into those small plates too!

Our server/bar tender Amanda was soooo sweet and friendly! She recommended the halloumi cheese appetizer which was amazing!!! We also sampled some wines and had a couple glasses and everything was fantastic! Would recommend for an easy stop in La Jolla for good wine and good food

Lovely service, delicious wine, tasty menu, chill ambiance (and no TVs, delightfully!). This is my new favorite place to grab a drink at the end of the day. Everything from the Picasso and Steadman inspired decor to the interesting but approachable wine selection makes this new wine bar an immediate favorite. Highly recommend and can't wait to go back.
