Beaumont's Eatery is such a fun spot and one of my favorite places in Bird Rock. The atmosphere is always great, they have amazing live music on the weekends, and I love that they support local artists and musicians. It has that perfect neighborhood feel where you can go for dinner, drinks, music, and always run into good people. And the service is a huge part of what makes it so special. Jerry has honestly been one of my favorite servers for years. He's been at Beaumont's for over 10 years, and he's always one of those familiar smiling faces you're happy to see when you walk in. He's friendly, attentive, hardworking, and just genuinely great with people. Mike is also amazing and always makes the bar experience fun. His knowledge of tequila is seriously impressive, and you can tell he really enjoys sharing recommendations and helping people find something they'll love. I ordered the Carnitas Benedict, chilaquiles, and Beef Barbacoa empanadas and everything tasted incredibly fresh and packed with flavor - definitely recommend if you're a savory brunch lover. The location is super nice with parking nearby and a cute alley just a short walk away, perfect for a little post-meal stroll. It wasn't busy when I went, and while the service was a bit slow, the food absolutely made up for it. I'd give this place a 3.5 if possible. Great location in La Jolla & not terrible parking. I came tonight with a group. The host stand area was pretty awkward as there wasn't a proper spot to wait while the table was getting set up. Everywhere I stood felt in the way of staff. I got mistaken as the host due to where I was trying to stand. Anyways, there's decent indoor and outdoor seating. The menu has variety but only a couple vegetarian options. I wish there were more. I ordered the vegetarian burger with fries. It had good crunch but overall it lacked flavor such as acid or more sauce. It felt bland. Service was standard. We were seated promptly (we had a reso though) at a nicely shaded table were we could enjoy the beautiful midday weather. Our server, a super friendly guy, was attentive and accommodating. Service was fine. Food was good not great. Very small portions. We ordered 5 appetizers to share. Sweet heat Brussels, beef Barbacoa empanadas, Thai meatballs and the carnitas lettuce wraps. 3 meatballs in an order! $18 and $19 each. Crazy. They were a little dry but the Thai sauce was good. My improv team (Deep Dish which performs Fridays, 8pm at Finest City Improv) didn't want to rehearse this month. They wanted to brunch and I didn't want to be a stick in the mud so we traveled to Beaumont's on a Saturday. Traffic will be bad so just leave your place early and you should be able to find street parking on some of the surface streets. I did on Dolphin around 10am. Had mimosas (pineapple is a popular choice) and they offer bottomless mimosas for $25 till 3pm on the weekends. No one wanted to get drunk so I just ordered one which is probably for the best because I was just laid off(damn you A.I. and reason why I wanted to get blasted...). The highlight that the table was raving about was the Coast Toast. Looked fluffy and heavenly. I ordered The "basic" because I'm allergic to dairy. This basic b!tch thought it was enjoyable. The brussels had good flavor, just wish there was a bit more for the $17 price point. In the beginning of the night, one of the female bartenders was extremely rude to a friend for seemingly no reason at all. Came here on a Sunday afternoon, ordered the cinnamon roll pancakes and two bowls. One turkey bowl and one salmon bowl. Salmon bowl was good, but could have used some more seasoning or maybe just served with the smoked salmon on top instead of inside the scramble (maybe a personal preference) Turkey bowl had a nice tangy dressing on it. I was looking for a place to eat and this spot came across Yelp. What was cool is that they had happy hour AND live music. Here was my experience. AMBIANCE: Parking: Street parking. Best to come early/timely or do a ride share. Seating: Inside seating and outdoor patio seating. There's room for about 80 people. Great for groups and smaller sizes. Feels: Bird Rock/ La Jolla is a nice charming spot. Close to the beach and friendly people with a small-town ambiance. The place itself is pretty neat. I enjoyed the mix of music they had playing in the background as it played the top hits of each decade. The decor is clean and pretty classy, I enjoyed the art of musicians, it made it feel lively beyond just being a restaurant. This is a great place if you want to watch a game, or catch up with friends, but also enjoy an evening with live music. FOOD: Sweet Heat Brussels (Recommend) Awesome! These reminded me of kale chips because of the way it crunches and the cooked leafy texture. The seasoning was made it over the top! I enjoyed the peanuts and the scallions in the brussels. Poutine (Recommend) Cajun fries with well-seasoned brisket and barbacoa. The fries were crispy and the meat and Monterey jack gave a fulfilling kick to the meal. Don't You Judge Me (Recommend) A sweet and tart mix of OJ and cranberry with a pleasant bubbly champagne sensation that was topped with vodka. I got an enjoyable buzz from this drink. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Jeff was great! Friendly dude that was knowledgeable on the menu and pretty helpful. TL; DR OVERALL: 4.5 Stars. Fantastic! Was there on NYE and had a nice time overall. Good music. However, there was a bartender there that was extremely rude to my boyfriend. He ordered a few beers and a drink for the group. The plates were a bit overpriced and if you are a big eater or a male with an appetite you will be left hungry if you order anything but the burger. I got The Coaster plate, the coast toast was a yummy, tasty, airy and soufflé style French toast, the jam that came with made it like a piece of toast I never had and can't wait to have again, it was unique and memorable. Went for happy hour on their Taco Tuesday. They change up their taco weekly. Had a spicy margarita, with plenty of different types of tequila available. Our host was also the bartender, and he made our margaritas well and was really nice. The other cocktail we got was okay, kind of watered down with a lot of ice. The tacos were fresh but $7/each. The street parking up front is 2 hr limit until 6pm, so this place is perfect for a happy hour in Birdrock since it opens at 4:00pm. read more
