I haven't lived in SoCal for a while butwhenever I come down to visit, like 3x a year, we head on over to Lahaina - typically a line but it moves well - security to get in is reasonable - I don't need to be carded (58) but was once - thank you very much - I'm the older side of the crown with my husband but theres no shade from the younger people- they are always starting a conversation with you or giving you a seat when they leave - you feel like you're at a backyard party - the drinks are stiff and fairly priced (Im in NorCal) and also the food isn't bad - the fish tacos were pretty good, and also the rolled tacos. Terrible experience with the security last Saturday afternoon. I was with my friends getting drinks at Lehani for a birthday. I stepped out with my drink to make sure my friend got into her uber safely. I tried to go back in, but security aggressively took my drink (pretty full) without my permission, poured it out, and yelled, "Bye! Have a good night! Have a good night! Bye!" They never explained why I couldn't re-enter or why my drink was taken. Even without a drink, the security just kept yelling, "Bye! Have a good night!" and wouldn't let me speak. My friends were still inside and they would not let me go to them. I wasn't drunk, or disorderly. I wanted a logical explanation of why I couldn't go in and was not given one. The lack of communication and outright rudeness were incredibly upsetting and unfair. No one should be treated like that. I'm so disappointed in both the security and bar. read more

Drove from out of town and arrived in mission beach around 9:30 which was an hour and a half before our brunch reservation. Unsure of where to go for the time we started walking and came across Lahaina Beach house which my friend said we should check out. The view from their patio is so beautiful and they have seating inside and outside which is great! It wasn't busy due to it being so early but we sat at the bar and had a drink while the bartender recommended places we should go and see which helped us a lot! The drinks were great, the service was wonderful, and the view even better. We came back our second day in san diego, it was around 2 pm on Saturday and the vibe was completely different in a good way. There were so many people it was definitely a busy place to be. Fan of this place! I came here for lunch one day and the black bean burger is really good! Huge portions and the fries are big and crispy! Definitely recommend coming here early, it's always busy. I left my iPhone by mistake in the woman's bathroom at closing time (literally when they where closing the door to the place) . I came back 10 minutes latter but there was no-wane there. I called and left a message with my information and no answer. I did find my IPhone and it was there in the bathroom. Then around 7 am it was in the cleaning room shed. I called again when they opened and they told me they did not see any iPhone. Then i went personally to the place and the assistant manager told me he heard my message but did not reply cause he did not see the phone. He explained to me how the subcontracted cleaning crew comes every night from 4 am to 7 am and said he called them and they did not see it either. I told him how it was last seen in the cleaning shed by find my iphone. He said he was busy but he opened the shed and left me alone there to look for it. Of course by then it was not there. He told me he could give me the cleaning people's number so i could offer them 50-100 dollars to see if i could get it back. I said that i refuse to do that cause that would encourage them to continue robbing. He said there was nothing else he could do that the Manager will contact me. The manager never contacted me! So i blocked the phone and i had to get a new one. I felt mistreated and i was robbed at LaHaina, so i do not recommend for anyone to go to an unsafe place with terrible customer service and no empathy for their customers. read more

This bar is supposed to close at 9. At 8:45, I witnessed one of their staff CHASE a PEACEFUL tourist down the steps and grab a beer out of his hand, shouting at him to leave. The staff here really needs training in how to deal with customers and NOT escalate situations UNNECESSARILY. This is a go to spot every time in in San Diego! This is a small bar beach side, and they used to only take cash. They just changed that and accept card now. The vibe is amazing here. This establishment needs to work on racial bias training. The staff and the patrons are predominantly white which is not my issue. AT ALL (I've grown up in very non-diverse communities)--I just hope the establishment works on not discriminating against non-white patrons. I don't think they meant bad by their actions...it's probably more of an implicit bias issue that may make the staff feel more uneasy or uncomfortable with non-white individuals. My experience was that I ordered two drinks and before finishing the second, I was told by Matt (bouncer) that bartenders Jason and/or Steve said I was overly intoxicated and needed to leave immediately. I have a high tolerance, but even if one doesn't, two drinks is not going to get anybody out of control. I do appreciate that Matt was calm throughout the situation. I just hope this establishment tries to make it a safe place for everyone. It doesn't feel good to be singled out especially when there were belligerently intoxicated individuals around me who continued to enjoy themselves (and be over-served). When I calmly and respectfully asked one staff member (did not receive his name) if there was any racial motivation behind the decision, he belligerently started shouting "Now she's calling me a racist." I'm not sure if he was intoxicated on the job or if he felt what I said was true but embarrassed to be called out on it, but a simple "No" would've sufficed. I know I'm not owed explanations, but it would be a kind gesture to provide an explanation to a calm, paying patron with a blood alcohol level that would have been permitted to drive a motor vehicle upon leaving. While I understand establishments have a right to refuse service, federal and state statute do not allow blatant discrimination in business establishments. The Unruh Civil Rights Act (CA state statute, effective January 2025) outlines "All persons within the jurisdiction of this state are free and equal, and no matter what their sex, race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, disability, medical condition, genetic information, marital status, sexual orientation, citizenship, primary language, or immigration status are entitled to the full and equal accommodations, advantages, facilities, privileges, or services in all business establishments of every kind whatsoever." Federally, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 similarly prohibits discrimination in public accommodations. Lastly, I am not writing this to disparage the establishment. I really don't think that the staff are horrible people. We all have biases, and I invite the staff to strive to be the best versions of themselves that they can be, especially in these tumultuous times. read more
