Sriracha Shrimp Tacos
Matthew B.

I had really high hopes for this place as I found it on the recent Yelp Top 100 2025 restaurants in the country but it was a bust wouldn't recommend. Single Fin Surf Grill has a great beach vibe with an open patio and seats facing the main street. The staff was very friendly they have a full service bar with lots of great drinks and specials. I came in for seafood tacos especially since they were listed on Yelp Top 100. I was really disappointment. My friend got the beer battered fish tacos and said they were just fine. I got the Sriracha shrimp tacos and they were just meh. I got them with a corn tortilla and one of my tacos tortillas was on the grill long enough that it turned into a tortilla chip and it was difficult for me to eat. The shrimp was just fine nothing amazing to write home about. I was really underwhelmed. Part of me had great expectations given its listing in Yelp Top 100 but I was just left disappointed. Great staff and great place but the food was just sub-par especially in Pacific/Mission Beach where you can find better food around the corner.

This is a hangout place with an open bar and some seating. We came here for a late lunch, and I had ordered the Cobb salad with sriracha fried chicken bites. It was HUGE and tasty!! I definitely recommend this place for lunch. Parking was a bit difficult to find, but there was a lot nearby. There is a great inexpensive bike rental next door. The guy at the bar was also Taking orders. He was very helpful!

The end result of fish and chips!

The service was great and the fish and chips were really good. I loved the homemade tartar sauce! It's a very chill vibe you order at the bar and they bring to your table. My man is very picky about fish and chips and we have had alot. I don't think he liked it at all!

Our party of 6 walked in and were served immediately! The kitchen was technically closed but they still took our orders and man the food was delish! Fish tacos and burgers! So good. I had the seasonal giant grinchmas drink (that I by myself tried to finish) and it was soooo good (I was unsuccessful in my solo attempt ) Cool vibes! Would definitely recommend!

Went for there $5 breakfast/brunch, when you buy a drink and it was honestly perfect amount. Not too much or too little, just perfect. Bloody Mary also so good after a night out .

This is a cute bar along the beach. Would definitely go back for drinks. The fish tacos were very fresh and loaded. Would have loved a signature salsa to go with them for the extra kick. Very friendly staff.

The Indonesian fried rice with shrimp was unbelievably good. My wife a s the fish tacos and loved them. Family friendly with a kids menu. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Parking is a challenge but definitely worth a try for this place.

Great, friendly service! Sriracha Chicken Bites ($19) are a huge portion and really good. Also really enjoyed the grilled fish tacos.

Yes if you choose grilled fish or shrimp!

Does that bearded fellow Kris still work there there? Came in and some young buck was working his shift?

Who uses the term "young buck"?!? Kris is there. Check him out on Monday nights for the bachelor.

We ordered the hamachi, sourdough, steak frites and the Cacio e Pepe to share. Hamachi had good flavor, but there was a noticeably fishy aftertaste - more than expected ($36) Sourdough came out hot and was tasty, but both the bread and butter were over salted. I tend to like salt more than most and even for me it was a bit much ($15) Steak Frites were the most disappointing. For $77, the portion was small and the steak wasn't particularly tender, but it was edible. The fries were also heavily salted to the point that we couldn't finish them. Cacio e Pepe was probably our favorite but if I'm going to go off of preference here, the tagliatelle was thinner than we prefer for a sauce that rich. Also, $40 for cheese and pepper will never make sense to me - even if it's premium. Overall, a nice setting and good service but I really just felt the food didn't live up to the price point.

Tucked into a neighborhood, the restaurant looks great both inside and out. We decided to sit outside since the weather was nice, which made the experience even better. For drinks, we went with the "Her Name Was Lola" and "Sweetest Taboo", both solid choices. To start, we had the tuna tostada (a weekly special) and oysters. Both were fresh, flavorful, and honestly left me wanting more. If you're getting oysters, I highly recommend asking for the house-made hot sauce instead of the usual Tabasco. For our mains, we went with the cod fish and chips and the grilled swordfish tacos. Both dishes were excellent and really hit the mark. All in all, I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in the mood for seafood.

Our server told us their specials for that night. I ordered the Sea Bass, my husband ordered the special, Crab Buccantini with squid ink pasta, and my friend had the swordfish. Every dish tasted really good. There was one problem with my dish, one of the pieces of sea bass was not cooked, it was pretty raw. One of the pieces was fine, the second was not. I'm not sure how that would happened, unless they didn't cook them together. I let my server know and he ordered me another dish right away, and apologized. Overall, we had a great time and enjoyed our food. Our server was very nice and friendly. I would come again.

Everything was really good, and I loved the overall ambiance of the place. It has such a fun, lively vibe. It was definitely pretty crowded, but the bartender made the experience so much better. I cannot remember his name, but he was genuinely one of the nicest people ever. He was super sweet and really helpful when it came to finding a non alcoholic drink option that I would actually enjoy, which I really appreciated. It is a little on the pricier side, but for the atmosphere, service, and overall experience, I would say it is definitely worth it.

If you're celebrating with a group, the bottomless option delivers: bottles keep coming, and with a big party, some servers will even drop off two bottles at a time and keep them rotating. That said, the food and customer service could use some improvement. I understand how extremely busy weekends can be, so I went back during the week to see if my opinion would change but unfortunately, the food still took a very long time to arrive. Overall, I'd say yes to the bottomless mimosas, especially for birthdays or group celebrations, but be prepared for slower service. The experience really depends on your server, and while the vibes are fun, consistency in service could definitely be better.
