I love this local spot for many reasons. First and foremost if you want a quality beef and/ or lamb burger this is the spot!! They have some fries that are spicy and sweet. Those are interesting :) The service is always friendly & welcoming :) The ambiance is lowkey casual with outdoor patio seating if you want :) Furthermore- I've been to Queenstown, New Zealand personally where the original best burger coined the FERG burger is a thing. It's my understanding that the owner's of this place went there personally to learn their way of making burgers AND the secret is in the sauces. They brought back those recipes here to San Diego. Very very good burger spot in PB. Went in on a Tuesday night, not expecting too much but we were really impressed. Our server Kyle was courteous and insightful. We ordered 3 burgers and a salad, a couple of beers, and a tequila drink. The food was superb- burger's all done to perfection, shoelace fries hot and crisp, salad was fresh and tasty. Came here over the weekend with my husband and a couple of friends -- it gets pretty cold, so definitely bring a jacket if you'll be sitting outside! Everything was absolutely delicious. Another win in PB for our group, and looked like it was always busy too while we were in town. Just a small beer bar with a solid burger menu. The interior of Bare Back Grill feels like a surf vibe. It was decorated with Christmas/Winter decorations and it felt very festive. Came on a Thursday and I'm confident saying this is the best value burger for their retro Thursday menu. The lamb burger was absolutely full of flavor. The only problem was that all the food was on the cold side. And it wasn't just my food, my two buddies also had burgers and fries that were about two degrees from being requested for something hot. The staff was very friendly and the place has a laid back vibe. We got the hummus plate to start and the pita was nice and warm, and the hummus had great flavor. Oh my goodness! I can't believe my favorite happy hour spot in PB is turning 20 this June!! I love everything about this place and not just at Happy Hour!! The ambience is awesome. I love that the patio seating from Covid has remained. I love how the windows roll up to let the outdoors in. The decor is pretty, the booths are soft. The Red Bull TV and surf videos are fun to watch. The service is friendly, welcoming, and attentive. I am always happy to see Alex behind the bar. Bareback reeled me in with their awesome happy hour deals when they opened in 2005. And that menu has evolved over time but is still wonderful. Many a day I ordered the Bare Lil Lamb sliders and fries and shrimp skewers with a Vodka Cooler and called it an early dinner. When I had my kids with me when they were toddlers it was great because I could scale the meal to fit their ever changing appetite. During Covid it was so nice to pick up a complete meal here with a bottle of wine or some cocktails to take home. Every month the Mainstay of the Month changes. I didn't try this month's Chicken Parmesan but I can't imagine that it's bad. Every Mainstay of the Month I have tried has been amazing and a couple were worthy of becoming part of the main menu. I love lamb, so it's no surprise that my favorite things on the menu are the Bare Lil Lamb and the Lamb Skewers. The hummus with the skewers is SO good. I love the thinly sliced cucumber slabs and warm pita. There is attention to detail on the presentation of things, which you don't always expect from a beach restaurant. Tonight I particularly appreciated the little piles of salt, ground pepper, and red pepper flakes I dredge through or sprinkle on my food. It's a small thing but it helped make the flavors pop. I'm not sure what I love more - the tots or the matchstick fries. Some dishes come with fatty fries instead but I can't speak to those because I love the other form factors too much. I really can't say enough about Bareback Grill. I'm not a morning person so I haven't come in for brunch but I'm sure it's amazing. We tried the cheesecake tonight and it was very good. Too sweet for me but the raspberry sauce was a nice counterpoint. It was fluffy and light, not dense. I'm a regular and I've been remiss in not posting sooner. I will always be back. I bring friends here when they're in town. Sometimes I bring my dog. It always feels like home. Check them out. You won't be disappointed. And they're running a birthday celebration every Thursday (not sure when it ends) into June they're doing a throwback to the original 2005 menu with 2005 prices! read more

We used to come here regularly about 15-18 years ago and always loved the Bare Lil Lamb burger (currently $25). Husband and I shared that and our son got the Wagyu Smash, which he said was the best burger in his life! Burgers and sandwiches come with shoestring fries and let me tell you they are fantastically crisp and served with three different sauces (ketchup, wasabi mayo and this other bbq type sauce that was my favorite). They have a full bar here and the cocktails sounded great. I opted for the mimosa (which was on special for only $2!!) and my husband got a Kona beer that he enjoyed. Our server (I'll have to ask my son what her name was and update this review) was fantastic... very sweet, efficient and genuine. We were in Pacific Beach last weekend and just happened to walk by this spot when we were on our way to a different restaurant for dinner. Their burgers smelled so good from the street that we decided to try Bare Back Grill instead, and we were not disappointed! The soft pretzel and shrimp skewers were both delicious starters. The cocktails were great! My husband ordered the Wagyu Smash Burger while I got the Maui Waui Wagyu Burger. Both were delicious! We loved their matchstick fries and flight of dipping sauces they provided. We ended going back on the second day for cocktails and Jell-O shots before our concert. We just got back a few months ago from a trip to New Zealand and have been missing NZ food and this spot definitely reminded us of our time there. Definitely worth a visit! We got here without a reservation and walked up to a cluster of people on the street corner by the hostess stand. It was unclear who was in line and who wasn't, but a hostess quickly let us know that she would get us seated and went to help another table. After 5 minutes of us standing there, another waitress approached us and asked of we've been helped. She took us to our seats. The service the entire night was not impressive. From there, it took quite a while to receive water, then get our order taken, then receive our meal and finally the check. We both got burgers and enjoyed them but found they could be more flavorful- even some more salt would've helped the flavors come out!
