Slept on Hotel bar and restaurant that doesn't feel or taste like a hotel bar and restaurant. Plenty of TVs, reasonably priced menu with more options, no bland food, and more. Love the gaslit fireplace patio, with activities surrounding the gated pool. Staff is friendly and knows the area. You can be a local in here without being a guest. No need to pay the inflated prices at the tourist traps nearby. Connected to the legendary Point Loma Cafe, so you know the food is solid. read more

This hotel bar:restaurant has surprisingly good food. The fire tables outside made for a lovely evening with colleagues at the end of a long weekend seminar. The establishment has to be one most misunderstood Patio dining/ Sports Bar I've been to. Service was the best anywhere I've been to in Pt. Loma vicinity, located right Behind Point Loma Cafe, on North Harbor Dr. Extensive menu for a sports bar, they told me that the kitchen is open till 10 PM. But near closing time they will make the food to go. Why five stars? It's not very common for hotels that have a restaurant/bar at the facility now day's, so if your travel weary there's this facility that has an absolutely beautiful patio to enjoy your meal and cocktails at. I can't comment on all the food but they made the Cobb salad the way I like it . My friend ordered the pork ribs they were good but in my experience there not winning any awards. I'll be looking into staying at this property's hotel in the future for the above convenience, when flying or long range fishing out of San Diego. It's also Adjacent to Ace long term parking lot that's $12 a day, way cheaper then many lots. Enjoy read more

We were staying at the Holiday Inn Bayside. The on-site restaurant/bar is Bayside Bar. We decided to stop in for an after dinner night-cap prior to heading back to our room. First off, Bayside needs to embrace the hard seltzers. They are all the rage right now and Becky is on that bandwagon. She would have really enjoyed an Ashland on tap or even a can of White Claw or Truly. She settled for a light beer. Minus one star. Outside of the lack of seltzers we really enjoyed Bayside Bar. There was plenty of seating indoors and the outdoor patio seating was fantastic. We were with another couple and we found a great table with a firepit. It was perfect for a chilly night. The bartender and staff were friendly and engaging. The prices for a hotel bar were not too horrible. If we stay at the Holiday Inn Bayside again, we'd return to the Bayside Bar for sure. read more

Service is great but the food not so good. We had the beef pie, carne asada, stir fry. All dishes were horrible. Someone said it's a hidden spot..... well it's not. It's the hotel restaurant. The same person that reviewed del taco said this was a hidden gem. Maybe other dishes are good but we didn't like it. I do recommend the breakfast at the cafe. It's was delicious and big portions. Had an opportunity to visit Bayside Bar in mid December. I would recommend it on several accounts. The food was delish and the outdoor seating very comfortable - right on the other side of the pool. The service was exceptional. Eric - our server went above and beyond to make sure we had all that we needed despite the fact that someone had called out sick, leaving him to cover all of the tables. His personableness made us feel at home. A great place for those staying at the Holiday Inn as well as those living in San Diego. Will visit again - thank you Eric and hats off to the chef! read more

The food is spectacular, the service wasn't so great. I believe the guys name is Eric he was terrible to staff and would ignore tables. If he's a manager he shouldn't be. I believe Ole and Sara the bartender are the people who attended guest and they were spectacular. I hope the next time I stay I get their shifts and not Eric. This restaurant was among the first few results when searching for a kid friendly place in central San Diego. I have to say they fully delivered on that part - lots of space, comfortable seating, kid's menu, friendly and helpful service staff. So if you're looking to dine with young children, this is a good place. The staff were friendly, but super slow. I picked the lobster pasta, which tasted flat and one dimensional and the only flavor was salt. Lobster pieces were overcooked and even though the pasta was cooked al dente, that alone couldn't carry the dish and at just under $40 it was just poor value. If you find yourself near Liberty Station, or west Harbor Dr. and looking for a break from the crowds, look no further than this little gem. Situated behind the Cafe on Harbor Drive at the Holiday Inn. You can sit in a comfortable dining area or out on the patio around the fire pits. Horrible service. Point Loma Cafe is closed at night. Traffic is instead diverted to Bay Side Bar. We ordered to go and it took 1 hour to get the food. We waited for the food, the waiter kept ignoring us. They waited on another table who got there later than us. There was another table who came earlier than the family who got serviced first. The staff pick and choose who to service first. Poor management. read more

We had planned to dine at the cafe, but we were a little early and confused by the "closed" sign until just after 5pm when we strolled into the bar. They explained that the regular menu would be offered and our t mobile discount would be honored. Happy Hour is from 5-7:30 and they do offer apps and have a rotating HH menu. Craft pints were $5. We ordered the sesame crusted salmon and shrimp with tortellini in cream sauce. The fish was well cooked and both presentations and execution was excellent. I think next time we'll visit for HH and split a sandwich or another dish along with the HH apps and featured menu items. read more

This review is not based on food or drinks since we did not get a chance. A friend & I saw a picture of fish tacos in the elevator & it made us wanted some. We agreed to quickly put our bags in our rooms & dash over since there was about 20mins left til closing. Walked in & the bartender said he already made last call. It's all good - we just wanted to order food. "Only take out". That's fine by us. Took him a few minutes to hand us the menu as we stood there. Then he said the kitchen is closing& to hurry up & order. Normally, all that would be cool, but it was with the tone & attitude the way he said it. I understand it's late & you want to go home, but dude, there's still like 10 people sitting around nursing their drinks & what not. We decided it was best to just let him finish up his deal so he can head on home... he definitely needed to chill! read more

The restaurant is out on the end of the harbor, with a beautiful view of the sea. You have to get up stairs on the top floor for the restaurant, with an elevator also on the side. We were served by Christina, although it took quite a long time to be approached and order. She was sweet though and we picked out what we wanted. I got the calamari for our shared appetizer, then I ordered the paella and my girlfriend got the salmon. The calamari was crunchy and delicious, and was seasoned very well!!! The sauce on the side was like sweet soy sauce. This dish came out very quick!!! Like less than a couple minutes after ordering!!! We however waited for a pretty long time for our entrees. I figured it was because of the busy day. Downstairs there was a private engagement reception room going on!!! Luckily the ambiance and setting of this place kept us relaxed and calm, and the weather was beautiful!!! We were both pleased with the food when it finally came and were so hungry that we ate the plates clean. After we finished eating, Christina was sweet and sang happy birthday to my girlfriend, lighting a candle on the brownie dessert plate we chose. It was very soft and warm, deliciously created with the caramel and chocolate drizzles!!! Overall a fantastic end to our night, so we were very grateful. As we were leaving, many people were coming in and I'm sure it was because they were trying to get the sunset views. Such a nice classy place to go out and eat at!!! My only complaint is that they had their dessert station stocked with nasty-assed Hershey's chocolate syrup. For what they are charging per person they could afford to put out something nicer like Lyon's chocolate sauce. I realize this seems nit-picky, but Hersheys truly is the bottom of the barrel, crap quality stuff. I did have an amazing meal. The hubby and I will be back again soon, and often!

They have a bar as well, which is more or less a full bar. The ambience is hotel lobby chic, but for a Courtyard Marriott, it's actually better than most. We came to the area for an event and picked this hotel because it was a little cheaper than others in San Diego. Full amenities, pool, Jacuzzi, etc. Free parking. Very safe area. Walking distance to Liberty Station shopping area. If you're in the area, no reason not to give it a shot if you're hungry!
