Harbor Town Pub is one of those great neighborhood watering holes that keeps the locals coming back! I used to walk here years ago when I lived just up the street, so it's always nice to return to an old favorite. Met up with a colleague for a late lunch and decided on their Jackpot Burger, but with a few modifications. I ordered it bunless, with a 1/3-pound beef patty, fried egg, smashed avocado, bacon, mayo, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and red onion. Normally it comes with blue cheese, which I absolutely cannot stand, so I happily had them leave that off! I also substituted a side salad for the fries. Delicious, satisfying, and a great way to enjoy a burger without all the extra carbs! Service was fantastic! The music was great and played at just the right volume to enjoy without having to shout across the table. Something more establishments should figure out...! They make excellent cocktails here, but since I still had work to do, I stuck with their delicious, refreshing iced tea. Sometimes being responsible is terribly inconvenient...! LOL! The menu has plenty of appealing options, the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and there's a steady stream of neighborhood regulars coming through throughout the day and evening. It's got that authentic local pub vibe that you just can't manufacture. Great food, excellent service, good tunes, and a cool neighborhood atmosphere. Whether you're a Point Loma local or just visiting the area, Harbor Town Pub is absolutely worth stopping into! Harbor Town Pub is owned by the same people as Waterfront and it has a dive bar feel with Christmas tree lights hanging from the ceiling. They have a room in the back with some games which reminded me or Aero club. I got the ahi poke tostada which should be called ahi poke nacho's because it comes on a pile of fried wonton chips with avocado, carrots and cucumbers. It was delicious! We love that we found this neighborhood gem near Shelter Island. The food is amazing!! You walk up to order your food and drinks and then find a seat. The portions and pours are amazing, the soy ginger wings are out of the world and there is always something fun going on. This time was bingo! It is a little loud inside but it's just a vibe. Sport knickknacks and service badges cover every surface. TV monitors played soccer championship games. A large game-room offers pool, electronic games and pinball. Indoor and outdoor seating are available and dogs are welcome. Rock music played in the background. I ordered a Linguica Scramble, which was a mix of tomatoes, cheese, spicy sausage, scallions and cilantro scrambled with eggs and topped with fried tortilla strips. The egg mix was accompanied by a generous portion of delicious crispy hash browns. The sausage was a bit spicy hot. My breakfast was hearty and delicious. My brother had a Breakfast Burrito filled with eggs, French fries, avocado, cheese and bacon. The burrito was hearty and he said it was delicious. Nina, our server, was amazingly upbeat for early morning breakfast. She made an effort to learn my name and introduce herself. She called me by name the duration of my meal. Food came out quickly. We were partying it up at a wedding and the couple decided to have the after party here. Great choice I thought at first. It was on my list of places to go. We rolled in maybe 50 deep. It was popping on the Saturday night around 10pm when we showed up. It was pretty full. They had famous Sunday night football games on. The back area where the games were was full of energy and bright lights. The only problem we all felt we had was with the staff. We all felt that they were a little rude. Other than that. The drinks were decent. Nothing to write home about. The bathroom wasn't spectacular and someone definitely puked. I'd come back and again. Maybe during the football season. read more

Harbor Town Pub in Point Loma is one of the places my friend likes to go to because it's casual, offers food/drinks, tv monitors throughout and music blasting so loud you can't have a conversation which is perfect since he's not there to talk. The place is dark, dank but looks clean enough approachable. There's a room with arcade games which attracts adults and children. This pub is also dog friendly. All the female staffers are not friendly and not helpful, despite the fact my friend is a regular..is NOT good service. The polar opposite effect from the male staffers who are friendly helpful and cool. There's limited spaces at the back for free parking. After parking and upon entry from the back door, you order and prepay for your drink and food from the counter before finding a place to sit. The staffers will bring your food and drink, no table service after that if you're in a booth. Service at the bar isn't any better since the one bartender seems to get overwhelmed and service falters :( My friend is a typical swm: single white male who likes beer, whiskey and bar food to his health detriment. He finds this place tolerable and it's one of his hangouts. This pub can be considered a dive to some or just a cool get away pub for others. The menu does have some edible foods: Brussel Sprouts, Fries and Poke nachos all of which I've tried, when I had a minute to seat and stay. My friend has tried nearly everything on the menu but his favorite are the burgers and the fish and chips. Yes, this is a bar for folks who like to party, watch sports games, and play video games. I took my 11 year old for dinner b/c she really wanted a hamburger. She said it was really good! I ordered a bowl of flank steak that came with cabbage, pickled onions, edamame, onions, and rice. It was "healthy" and delicious. Date night called for a spot for one last drink and we came here mostly because we found out they were dog friendly and we had our pup with us. It was a Friday night so it was busy but not too bad, it was easy to walk up and get a drink and the people that work here are truly super nice, easy going, and helpful. We were able to get a table close to the back entrance and our pup got lots of pets from people entering in. I did not realize they have a full arcade area in the back and of course the popcorn machine which if you know you know has tabasco with the popcorn and trust me you have to try it. Here you'll find delicious burgers, fresh salads, and beautiful fish (relying on my +1's for that part). Came out for an afternoon lunch that ended up spilling into a beautiful Thursday happy hour, 3pm-6pm, experience. For lunch, I enjoyed a spectacular, juicy, and deftly seasoned burger with chopped bacon, pickled jalapeño, and you guessed it, BLUE CHEESE BABY! This 1/3 lb burger, $15.95, was thick, cooked to perfection (the standard is medium so if you don't like medium just tell them your preference), and served with beautifully crispy fries. I'm more of a 1/2 lb burger man, so I should have added an additional patty for about $5-6, but I still had my fill. But as lunch waned on, happy hour kicked up the excitement with a straight plinko style showcase that included a recurring drumroll and a rotating highlight of a different special every 30 minutes. Let's gooo! This created a vibrant shift away from my delicious, yet dwindling burger. Can you say $3 whiskeys, with a $2 upcharge to make it an Old Fashion? Or how about $3 Pacificos, or $5 Moscow Mules? Each of which were one of the highlighted specials during the 6-30 minute specials during happy hour. Accidentally or otherwise, I indulged in several, whilst making new friends at the bar-Heyyy Grant and Claire! I really enjoy this kind of happy hour experience and they definitely knock it out of the park with this one. Shout out to bartenders BEN and NINA who not only provided 5 star service, but consistently kept the vibes on 10! Did I mention they play good music hear, from older hits to hip-hop classics, I often find myself singing along to hits from yesteryear. I didn't play any games, but they've recently expanded with even more games and seating. This place was such a pleasant surprise! Completely unassuming from the outside but right when you walk in you're welcomed by the fun decor, great energy, plenty of games, and tons of TVs. You order at the window and they bring your food to you. We shared the wings and I got the Chinese chicken salad. Both were good but I would probably try different things next time. Came on a Wednesday before noon, which happened to be the opening day of the World Cup. They were showing the Mexico game, and the staff was nice enough to turn on the sound after many of us customers requested it. The FIFA vibes were definitely on. We decided to come back later that evening to watch the night match. It was a different crew--still friendly, but less attentive during dinner service. My only disappointment was I called in my order. The place is so fun! Bar atmosphere with a huge game room attached. The girl who helped me was hustling. Taking orders, delivering orders, clearing tables, take-out, she was doing it all! The burger I got surpassed all expectations. This is not a smash burger, it's a delicious thick patty with Bleu cheese and crispy onions. WOW! I usually only eat 1/2 the bun, but this bun was next level. Great fresh fries. This is a great place if you have kids. We we're trying to find a place to watch the World Cup with our kids and most bars do not allow anyone under 21. I found Harbor Town Pub and it was great. The service was good. They have a large selection of beers both on tap and in cans. There are all kinds of options for food. Tables are small on the patio, so not sure about large parties, but perfectly fine for 4 or less. I am going to keep watching the health inspection reports here in Yelp though... they are trending down over time and 90/100 is pushing my comfort level. When I managed restaurants I would ask: what's more important to you good food or good service? Not a deal breaker but an interesting response because you need both to create a memory. This spot has both and more. I bring every single person who hasn't been here or heard of it and make them a lifer. Hands down one of my favorite places to eat some of the absolute best food and best cocktails with always nice staff. It can get super crowded so pick your time to attend wisely, however even when they're slammed they manage to go around and check on you. Food was good, servers, bar tenders were amazing and chill, relaxed atmosphere. You can sit and chill and watch the game or get a little competitive. Dogs are welcome which I love. The only downside is that they have carpet inside which is great to walk on but not so great when our fur babies have accidents :( May be time to switch to tile or something else. What I ate (and I did eat 95% of it because I was starving and didn't dare wait another 35 minutes for another option), was overcooked, and since it was fried that meant blackened crusties and rubbery dried out fish, all served on a burnt bun. I get it...kitchens get backed up, sometimes staff doesn't show up, sometimes you have a newbie. But I did offer to pay for my drinks and cancel my order long before it arrived...but instead was forced to wait on this, overcooked and burnt (the irony). Waitress gave a heads up they were backed up...that was a plus, two tables ahead finally got their food...but then there was nothing else coming out of the kitchen, and those tables had now had enough time to consume their food and were lounging and relaxing. So I went to the front to cancel the order and a fella hopped out of a booth from behind on over to the register. I say it's been over a half an hour let's just cancel the order. His reply was to look up the order time, and then tell me it has been "33 minutes" as though that was a logical rebuttal and I was being unreasonable. He refused to let me pay for the drinks telling me the salad is done and that we were waiting on the sandwich (never crossing his mind that perhaps he could at least offer to wrap it up to go). So not being permitted to pay and cancel I went back to the table and waited. The same guy delivered the food. When the waitress immediately came over after, I had already had a chance to see the burnt piece of fish and burnt bun, and sadly, waved her away...what was I going to do? There was nothing to say. I couldn't complain, I couldn't ask for a replacement, I was forced to wait for burnt food. I had plans, was late and had to make alternate arrangements. Not life altering but annoying...I survived. What was insulting was the waitress brought over a card after I had paid...a free round on the house. First off, nobody was drinking. Second, could have spared me the wait time, and could have just not forced me to pay for burnt food. Host, manager, owner? Not sure what his role was...but missed an opportunity to just cut the losses. I heard the salad at our table was good, crunchy buffalo chicken. There were lots of ads for specials so they do try as a community bar to keep folks interested and engaged. Games on one side for the kids (or big kids). But having driven 90 minutes, wouldn't go out of my way to come back (too many other options). There was a guy on a bench outside who was sipping on a soda, looked like he was passing through with his backpack, so I gave him the card, go in, have a soda, watch a game...hopefully they honored it. I would not say don't go. but I would say to the register gatekeeper...do better. And definitely appreciate your staff, they at least had attentive servers. P.S. Need to keep dogs on the patio. My SD was tucked perfectly at alert under me, and on three separate occasions in the one visit had to physically block dogs from coming under the table (passerby's with drunk oblivious owners). In one instance had to shove my leg out pushing the dog back (ironically this same dog had been sitting with the register guy, so likely a local regular)...I repeatedly told his owner, "no, No, NO!" So that didn't help my experience either...all that after I had to get up and stand and argue about cancelling my order (which the quick position change and standing resulted in an episode with my blood pressure and heart rate). Thursday June 11 2026 we went here for lunch because they were advertising FIVA." soccer game .Very inviting and friendly. There were several request to put the volume up on the tv but the manager said she had to play music. seemed reluctant. Eventually she did and people started to order and have a good time. Food and service was excellent We had a good time and we were going to come back for dinner to watch the next game at 630 pm. We can we sat but not the same result. Manager would not put the volume on the game. Service was lacking. Food wait time was ok but the food was good . My question to the GM is if you advertise FIVA soccer and your employees are wearing soccer jerseys why wouldn't you put the volume on the game. We stayed for the game did not order as much as we wanted . Probably look for a different location to eat drink and watch the game. I hope the GM reaches out. Part of marketing is if you are going to advertise you should deliver. I gave the a 3 star rating. If they would have put the volume on it would be a 5 star rating. read more
