Good drinks served with a better smile!

Honestly the best in dive bar in SD. Britt and Hammy are the absolute best and crushed it when I was there. Britt knows how to set the vibe. Good service, good times, and good memories!

Great pool tables!

I have never written a negative review before so bear with me. I came into Lucy's Tavern to meet some friends who live a couple streets down and are regulars there. It's an awesome dive from first impressions, three pool tables, jukebox, awesome looking happy hour, the works. After the first beer one of my friends introduced me to Bonnie who out the gate came off as just a sweet and fun bartender. I proceeded to come up to order and chat with her a few times throughout the night sharing my own experiences as a fellow bartender. We joked around about Sunday night service and in general felt like we on great terms. I want to be clear that being an active member of the industry myself I was always very patient with her honestly slow service and often chatted with other patrons and amused myself at the bar while she served other guests. Last call comes around so I roll up to what is now a more full bar. While she is pouring some drinks I ask if they do carry out case service to which she replied no. So since its last call I ask if "when she has time" if I can get a final pour and close. She absolutely snaps. She stops everything shes doing at screams at me in front of the whole bar claiming I got everything I wanted and If I was happy now. I took it silently with a mumbled thank you as she slammed the shots and check down in front of me and honestly have never felt so humiliated in my life with every eye at bar looking at me. We left quickly to say the least. I understand service industry can be incredibly stressful and I would really like to give Bonnie benefit of the doubt with what was a long hard weekend. But nobody ever ever ever! deserves to be treated like that. Wish I could take my tips back. Good luck!

Love the local bars. A lot of times it's fun and friendly people that live nearby in the neighborhood. Nothing fancy but with all the charm. Lucy's Tavern is just that. I love coming here. Located in OB (Ocean Beach). If you get there early enough. Parking isn't too bad. If you go later in the day. Parking can be challenging. Timing is everything. With foosball, pool tables and TV's throughout. This bar is a nice place to hangout, play games and watch a sporting event. No food but in walking distance to restaurants and other food spots. Overall, a bar that is a highlight in OB. My kind of bar. Support local businesses especially the good ones. Lucy's Tavern is awesome.

I came into this place needing to use the restroom and the bartender was a really nice guy who let me. He made me feel welcomed inside his bar, as a younger woman, who didn't look like anyone else inside the bar (during the middle of a week day). This is definitely a bar I would come back to, because the bartender was so kind. I didn't feel out of place, which I have in many other bars. It's clean in here, they have one "all gender" restroom, and karaoke! Very cool place.

Wine, sommelier

The sommelier provided us with a wide breadth of local Southern California wines to enjoy on a glorious Saturday evening. As we watched a drunk stumble in then be escorted out by the security team, we socialized with neighbors and friends and nibbled on popcorn and bagged peanuts, and Cheetos to whet our palates for the tasting. We were poured hefty amounts to sample! The Woodbridge had a smoky afterbirth and rich, hedonistic tones. The house white had hints of oil and lanolin (like sheep's wool) and was perfect for a late summer night. 10/10 will return !

Finally managed to stop in and look for Lucy. I didn't find Lucy, but we found a good time and super friendly barkeeps, and awesome music playing on the speakers.

Awesome John

And nothing touches this scene. Great drinks. Even better people. The kind of place where you walk in for "just one" and somehow look up three hours later wondering how you got so comfortable, so fast. Whether it's your first stop of the night or your last, you'll spend the entire time grinning like you're exactly where you're supposed to be and nowhere you're supposed to be. Pro tip: mention the name Lee at the door for free popcorn all night. (Okay, fine. The popcorn's already free. But now you've got an excuse to say Lee's name with confidence.) He went to the restroom and us girls went to ours, they're in the same hallway & you have to pass the women's restroom to get to the men's. As I was exiting the girls bathroom he walked directly past me and I trailed behind him, then all of a sudden I hear one of the girl bartenders ask him to leave because she said she saw him exit the women's restroom. She was LOUD & reactive, like she was 100% sure she saw that, she grabbed 2 of the security guards & asked to get him out because she saw him come out of the girls restroom. WHICH WAS A LIE!! It was humiliating & if she would've just ran back the cameras she would see that is absolutely NOT what happened. It was unprofessional, ridiculous,& tasteless. I get you have to be aware in these situations but she was SO WRONG in this particular instance I was appalled. Therefore if the manager or owner would like to run back tapes on January 30th around 12 am, they will see he did not exit the women's bathroom. I really hope there's some type of repercussions for type of accusation.

My husband and I are sucker for divey spots and the Old Town Saloon looked EXACTLY like our vibe. It definitely was a cool spot and not sticky or on the dirty side like a lotta dives, but still had that classic dive feel to it. We had different bartenders both days we came, and both of them were great. Not too talkative but still really nice and quick to get our drink orders. Like most of Old Town, the Old Town Saloon is themed to fit the rest of the area. They have TouchTunes here so you can play plenty of music, and also at least one pool table (I only saw one, not sure if there were more around the corner). Only "downside" is that they don't have any food here, but you're allowed to bring food in (which we did from a local vendor). If you're in the area it's definitely worth it to stop in for a drink or two - we could've spent all day here and would definitely stop in again when we're back in town.
