Let the girls shop!!!! I'll be fine.
Val G.

Had a great time here. Great group of patrons and the bar tender was awesome to talk to. My buddy and I were waiting for the girls to finish their shopping so we came in and had a few drinks. Made the time pass quickly. We had beers and shots so very basic but the bar tender kept the drinks coming and it was a very nice bar. Lots of locals coming in with their pool cues but plenty of visitors like us, so it was a nice mix.

Friendly staff. A reliable go to bar. Nice spot to meet up with friends. Not the largest space so my bf and I love it on the weekdays.

Another visit with Justin. Well worth the stop while pursuing a passport renewal. The man is super friendly and super helpful for all things Old Town. Food options are slim with chips, etc. Locals vibe and environment, which makes for a friendly locale.

Good vibes, good drinks..all that was missing was the hip hop n Latino music to get me moving and shaking the hips yet service was pretty good! Thank Old Town Saloon to remind me Johnny Cash is one of our good idols..THANK YOU

It's a Bar, owner and employees are rude !! Stay a way especially if you're from out of town, they care for visitors!!

The owner and the employees are rude and don't appreciate out-of-towners so if you're from out of town visiting, Old Town don't bother stopping there don't waste your time!

Common Stock - Charred Brussels -- love!

We were in the area looking for a brunch spot and striking out, and everyone was getting to the "we…read moreneed food NOW" stage, so we ended up at Common Stock. When we sat down, we were a little surprised that the brunch menu was pretty limited compared to the photos that originally caught our attention. I'm guessing those were from the dinner menu. Our server was actually so great about it--he told us to take our time looking it over and that if we weren't excited about anything, we were welcome to leave and he wouldn't take it personally. That honestly won us over. Even our kids were impressed by how straightforward and nice he was and decided we should stay. And I'm glad we did. The Crispy Brussels were delicious--seriously, one of the highlights. My daughter loved the Strawberry Shortcake French Toast. My son liked the Japanese Potato Hash, although he wished there was another way to add more protein besides bacon. I had the Hot Chicken + Waffle and really enjoyed it, and my husband had the Nashville Crispy Chicken Sandwich. The food took a little longer than expected, but the service more than made up for it. Our server was genuinely kind, honest, and attentive, which can make such a difference. We came in mostly because we were hungry and running out of options, but left really happy we gave Common Stock a chance. Great food and, more importantly, really great service.

We were visiting from out of state and staying in the area, and came across this place on Yelp…read more I'll start by saying the service was good. Our server was friendly and answered our questions, we had no complaints there. However the menu was very limited and the food was okay. We may have had to do more research but it didn't seem very family or kid friendly (menu wise). We ended up getting the pizza rolls, rotisserie chicken, crispy Brussels and chicken sandwich. The pizza rolls I was picturing something like a Totino's pizza roll or a savory cinnamon roll, so I asked about it and our server described it similar to an "empanada". It ended up being closer to a wonton than anything. It wasn't bad but was fairly oily. Wouldn't order again. The rotisserie chicken was really good and I liked the sauce it came with. The chicken was pretty tender as well. The chicken sandwich was okay. There was a lot of mayo/creamy sauce. Combined with the fried chicken it felt a bit heavy. The bun was really good though. We really liked the Brussels sprouts. It has a great citrusy taste and was cooked well.

We each loved our order of carne asada, cochinita pibil, bacon wrapped shrimp, and chile relleno tacos. I had the cochinita pibil and it was divine: orange marinade was perfection, the small black beans were a nice contrast and of course, the homemade tortillas wrap it all in delish corn flavor. The other tacos were said to be cheesy (chile rellano), crispy (shrimp & bacon), and flavorful (all). The two tacos were more than filling and a huge side of rice for only $4 was a great meal!! I love how they varied the taco topping based on the type of taco. Great care in developing full flavored tacos. The design of the restaurant is great and it does create a feeling of neighborhood with humor. The staff were helpful, patient, and more than welcoming. We'll be back, even though parking is a challenge (no fault of the restaurant).

AMBIANCE Parking: Hillcrest area--street parking, might take a minute depending on the time. Seating: Multiple lounge-style areas--couches, chairs, even a pool table setup. Plenty of space to spread out and hang. Good for small groups Vibes: Welcome to the Hillcrest Gay-borhood. It's an eventful place from good eats to bars. This place leans heavy into that speakeasy / vintage lounge feel--dim lighting, moody atmosphere, and a slightly cinematic vibe. It almost feels like stepping into another era. DRINKS / EXPERIENCE They've got a solid selection of wine, beer, and cigars, and the humidor (cigar storage room) is stocked with a variety of options for different preferences. Even if you're not a cigar expert, the staff is known to help guide you toward something you'll actually enjoy--which makes it approachable for both beginners and regulars. CUSTOMER SERVICE Friendly and knowledgeable. Rocky was pretty helpful. TL;DR OVERALL 4 Stars. Solid selections and pleasant vibes. I'm not into the cigar culture but it looks like a unique spot in San Diego. Great for a chill night out, especially if you're looking for something different from the usual bar scene. TIPS: * Take your time--this isn't a rush-through spot * Ask for recommendations if you're new to cigar
