Waffle fries, beet and burrata salad, peach + ginger mocktail.
    Benjamin W.

Delicious for a quick drop-in in La Jolla. Prompt and friendly service. Outdoors with a view of the ocean... what more can you ask for. No need for a full meal if you just need a holdover. We grabbed the waffle fries (just the right amount of salt, I thought, plus great aioli and spicy Sriracha ketchup) and the beet and burrata salad and split them both. Wife got the margarita; it was nice. I really enjoyed my peach and ginger mocktail. Great stuff. If you get the waffle fries but don't like spicy food, consider asking for 2 aiolis instead of aioli + Sriracha ketchup. Not sure if they'll do it but the Sriracha ketchup is definitely spicy. I didn't mind because I just moved from Texas.

Beautiful location, and food to match! Stopped here for lunch/brunch and ordered the chilaquiles and a mezcal Marg. The chilaquiles were amazing, I got it with the chicken tinga and although it was a large portion it was so good I was determined to finish it lol . The service was quick and just a great all around stop while in La Jolla which isn't as pricey as some of the other spots around the village. Highly recommend!

Came for since there was supposed to be an ocean view. Ordered a Pure Project Pilsner beer $8 and Daou Rose $14 - looked like a 6 oz pour. No food. Brunch food looked tasty. Server friendly.

The Cove House in La Jolla is a gem. It's hard not to love a joint when it's located in one of the most beautiful places on earth, but it's a great local find. It's a block off the ocean with a chill local vibe. The food is solid, but the cocktails were surprisingly complex. We ended up at the bar chatting up one of the bartenders that is an absolute pro. After pouring me a delicious cocktail (I can't remember the name but I think it's Mermaid's Tail) he gave us a ton of recommendations for cocktail joints in the area. Mermaid's Tail is a tiki-style recipe with coconut rum, cream of coconut, pineapple, strawberry and lime. It was perfect for the beach vibe after walking along the ocean watching and checking out all the seals sunning themselves. There are a ton of upscale places in La Jolla, but finding a casual chill place like Cove House was perfect for enjoying a mellow sunny afternoon. You should definitely check them out when you're enjoying paradise. Salute @thejohnnycocktail

Great ambiance, super tasty California Benny, fresh tasting orange juice, and tasty bacon. Highly recommend after walking around La Jolla Shores.

Creme brûlée French toast & chilaquiles

Wow it's been a while since we ate here. How did I miss writing a review for this place. Great crème brûlée French toast. Doesn't need syrup perfect as is, fluffy custardy. The chilaquies is a great combination of creamy egg yolks, crunch tortillas, tangy pickled onions, creamy & salty cheese & creamy avocado. Just a hint of spicy red sauce. Very well done. Worth the calories. Parking can be challenging in this neighborhood. Great location and service. Cute place to sit. Enjoyed the coffee. Must come back. Thank you.

Such a cute spot in San Diego, right by the beach. The service was fast and good, and the French toast was amazing. We got French toast sticks, the roasted quinoa salad, and the steak frites. The French toast was the highlight, and quinoa salad was good and fresh. The steak frites was mostly fries with a few steak pieces but overall okay!

    TRADITION BENNY

Went to Cove House for my birthday brunch and really enjoyed it. I ordered the TRADITIONAL BENNY and a SPICY BLOODY MARY -- both were great. The Benny was cooked well with a buttery hollandaise, and the Bloody had the right kick. Their Benny's come with their own House Herb Biscuit, adding a different texture to the usual Benny and an increase to the flavor. The ambience and atmosphere also add to the visit with their coastal beach vibe and patio seating where you can see a bit of the La Jolla Beach. Perfect for a friendly brunch near the water. Overall, a solid La Jolla brunch spot if you want good food with breezy seaside vibes.

The food is so delicious here. There was a short line for brunch on a Saturday but it moved really fast and we were seated quickly. We ordered some items to share. Crispy Brussels, salmon avocado toast, and the Seasonal Fish Plate (halibut.) All of the food was so good. The salmon avocado toast and the fish plate were the best versions of that dish I've ever had. Service was really friendly too and the prices were better than I would expect for the location and quality of the food.

Amazing atmosphere, chill vibe, gorgeous views. Food was delicious as were the drinks! You don't always expect the food to match the view, but in this case it does!

Incredible spot in La Jolla! Was recommended to us by a friend and I'm so glad we went. Service was great, draft beers were cold and delicious on a hot day, and the food was unforgettable! Highly recommend the salmon avocado toast, French toast and another dish that was delicious but we can't remember the name! 10/10. We will be back.

The crème brûlée French toast was amazing!! Would definitely order again! The chilaquiles were also phenomenal. Kind employees and right by the beach so the view is so cute!

    Veggie Bowl (added shrimp)
    Jon P.

I made the mistake of trusting the picture uploaded on Yelp by the owner of this restaurant. The veggie bowl I received was no where resembling what they uploaded. My bowl was greasy, all the ingredients were overcooked, almost 50% mushrooms, and tasted very salty. It was such a disappointing meal that I could barely finish it. Additionally, our server got pulled to do bartending which left my party struggling to track down who would take care of our payment. However, the location is very convenient in La Jolla and clean establishment!

Crunchy, salty, and went well with the eggs. I was hoping for more of a coffee flavor in the white mocha. They make the whipped cream from scratch. The mocha was mid. Fabulous visit to Nine-Ten, which reminded me why it has been one of our favorites since it opened…read more It blows my mind also that Chef Jason Knibb has now been here for 23 years. It says something about the owners that there is been no turnover and he's been able to keep innovating with Chef Jose Alonzo now as the long-term pastry chef. All right - to our meal! PATIO: remains great. It's covered, which is great on a rainy night, heaters work well. The wind from the ocean can still be a lot, so bring layers anyway. SERVICE: We had Quinn this visit. He was terrific! Really great recommendations. COCKTAIL: I have often found the cocktail menus here boring compared to other places in town. This month, there were so many choices that looked really innovative and up my alley. I was deciding between Lion's Tail (Bourbon, Allspice Dram, Lime, Angostura), Trinidad Sour (Angostura Bitters, Rye Whiskey, Orgeat, Lemon), and Crescent City (Smith + Cross Jamaican Rum, Sweet Vermouth, Lime, Angostura). Quinn suggested that the TRINIDAD SOUR was the most interesting given how I described my cocktail preferences - he explained that it was made with a full ounce of angostura bitters, whereas most cocktails have only a dash. It came in a super cute up glass, and was really delightful. Didn't know my socks off but it was fun & tasty and innovative. Yum! 9/10 BREAD: I'm trying to go lower carb, but their sourdough country bread was warm and hearty. I had a teeny piece and spouse enjoyed the rest. APPETIZERS: Spouse got an off-menu item, the simple green salad with champagne vinaigrette you can always ask for her. I got the current incarnation of the TUNA CRUDO (Charred brassicas relish, currants, lime segments, aleppo, radish flowers, fresno chile, kombu oil). It was beautifully presented and fun to eat; healthy and light. The brassico relish and currants on the tuna were a really nice combination. I approve! 9/10 ENTREES: I got the current halibut preparation (they always have halibut on the menu but they mix up how they do it): Yu choy, black trumpet mushroom, spring onions, date puree, buddhas hand marmalade, sumac, sunflower, green garlic dashi emulsion. Gorgeous, and who needs carbs! The fish was perfectly cooked and the other things worked really well with it: 9/10 WINE PAIRING: I decided to get a glass to drink with the halibut. Quinn suggested pairing it with a gruner veltliner - he said they had been playing around with pairings and this was a surprising match. It was a super fun food wine (also one of the cheaper wines by the glass, $15) and worked really well. I sipped it without the halibut, meh, not my kind of wine - but as soon as I was drinking it with the halibut (and then with my dessert), it was super delish and paired well. 10/10 here on the pairing. DESSERT: I love Chef Jose Alonzo's more fanciful creations, but we went old school & got the half baked chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream, which is a classic here for the reason. It's not like you never had this dessert before - but it is *perfection* here. The chocolate was really rich - and the ice cream is just the ideal texture and flavor. The vanilla bean comes through strongly and it's perfectly smooth. 10/10 to end the meal. Valets and hostess were nice too. We'll be back again, of course, even if it takes us a few months to put it back in the rotation!

We made our 6 PM reservation well in advance and were promptly greeted and seated by the hostess in a cozy, romantic spot--perfect for me and my hubby. The presentation throughout the meal was beautiful. The ambiance was relaxed and casual, though the décor felt a bit loud and slightly outdated. To start, my husband enjoyed their homemade sourdough bread with whipped butter, and they thoughtfully provided a gluten-free bread option for me--which was absolutely amazing. We also shared the hamachi sashimi appetizer. While the presentation was exquisite, the sauce it was served with was a bit overpowering for our taste, as we're more accustomed to sashimi without added sauces. For our entrées, my husband had the ribeye and I ordered the lamb. Both dishes were outstanding--cooked to perfection, incredibly tender, and easy on the palate. We couldn't even finish our meals, but they tasted just as delicious the next day. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely recommend this place.
