I came for brunch on a Thursday around 11:30 and the place was busy, but not overly packed so seating was quick. I got the Classic Benedict, with the Crispy Hash Browns, and though the hollandaise was delicious there were some problems with the texture of the English Muffin. One side (that came with an already punctured-ish egg) was really tough and hard to cut through. However, the other side was light and fluffy. Another part I wasn't a fan of was that their Canadian Bacon leaned on a thicker cut and a saltier side; but there was still a generous amount of slices. Service was great and were kind in making some modifications to the menu with the scramble. There was also not a long wait time for the food to come out. Ambience leans towards beachy with a nice outside patio and a cozy seating on the inside. Though I didn't fully enjoy the item I got, I would go again and try others of their classic brunch or lunch menu.

Came to shoreline kitchen during a quick san diego trip! We came on a saturday morning around 9:30 AM and there was no wait. Parking around is a bit hard to find, ultimately had to park a few blocks down. We got the maple chicken sandwich and an eggs benedict and both were really good. Service was 10/10

It pains me to leave 3 stars but the service was SO slow. Maybe it was just this timing or being understaffed but it didn't seem busy when we arrived. The food was delicious and the service was slow. After our day date doing kayaking on Sunday morning (11am) across the street at EveryDay California, we saw Shorehouse across the street and the reviews looked good. We came in at 1pm on Sunday and quickly got a table. Thankfully we just had our party of 2. I did see the Yelp waitlist showed 17-30 min but we got right in and seated outside. We were quickly seated but I wish the rest of the experience would have been faster. Our server took our order after 10 min. FOOD- it took a while to get our food. 40 minutes after ordering and a guest that came after us got their food before us. -Monterey omelette - 8.5/10- my husband thought it was good with the chiles and made with quality bacon. -Egg white Mediterranean omelette- 8/10 - I liked that they offered healthy options. The omelette wasn't soaked in oil which was appreciated! -Caramelized Tahitian French toast 10/10 - I had a bite and this was delicious. We did have to ask for syrup though. Overall, this is a tasty place but maybe avoid sitting out front or going on a busy day.

Enjoyed a few hours at the beach. Asked a local where to get food was directed to the strip of restaurants. Fee options but when we stopped at Shorehouse Kitchen we knew we'd be happy with the choice as the person who greeted us was friendly and said "take your time". The roasted red pepper bisque had grilled cheese toast that was tasty and filling. The cucumber avocado sandwich with the seasoned fries complimented the soup perfectly. They also serve breakfast foods as well. Plenty of seating indoor, covered patio and on the street dining. Any seat is the right seat

You can never go wrong with having brunch in La Jolla. The atmosphere is nice and it's a small quaint corner restaurant. You can find parking on the street. I found 90 minute parking on a Thursday morning across the street. Bobby was our waiter and he did a great job accommodating us. My sister and I ordered the coffee dream. It's like an espresso martini. It was really good. Sweet coffee is always fun. We were seated outside. It was a beautiful day. My sister had mushroom omelet and I had the chicken pistachio pesto burrata sandwich. My meal was ok. It came with thin fries which was good enough. The bread was kind of stiff and the taste was bland. It was a decent sandwich but I probably should've just ordered breakfast. I might try the Carlsbad location next time.

They have a yelp waitlist which is perfect for planning your wait. We came on a Saturday morning and got seated immediately since we were at the top of the list. I ordered the salmon avocado bagel which comes deconstructed and it was great! The bagel was warm and perfectly toasted and portions were perfect for me. It was really nice to sit out on the patio - perfect weather and there are umbrellas that provide shade outside. Service was nice but a bit slow - they seemed like they might be understaffed and it was pretty busy at the restaurant.

I ordered the Egg White Mediterranean omelet and it was pretty good. Service was nice and working hard during brunch rush. Overall great spot in the shores. Only street parking.

Our drinks were fine...after several tries. Two of our three drinks were messed up. Our daughter's smoothie had bits of plastic in it. Fortunately, she's old enough she didn't choke. My wife's chai came in the wrong size with regular milk, despite ordering almond milk...good thing she wasn't allergic. Then, the replacement drink was the wrong size and missing the espresso shot. Moral of the story, go when they're To Go counter is slow...seems that they can't handle the perceived pressure of a rush. Frankly, seems that they are in need of systems. Drinks were dropped off on the counter without a receipt or announcement, which led to other customers wondering which order was whose, and drinks were left getting cold. The ambiance was a perfect fit for La Jolla, tasteful beach vibes.

Cute spot at one end of the La Jolla shores downtown strip with lots of outdoor, dog-friendly seating. They even have a full doggie menu! We arrived at 1 on a Sunday and I added us got the yelp waitlist while walking up. However upon arrival a minute later there were multiple tables available and they were able to seat us right away. Yelp said there was a 10-min wait with a few parties in front of us, so would not rely on yelp waitlist in the future.. Menu looked great, with classics as well as special items. Something for everyone between the breakfast and lunch menus, as well as a pretty extensive cafe and alcoholic menu. I was eyeing the Kyoto coffee, juices, and samovar teas, but landed on the St. George Ibarra Mocha instead since my MIL went for a spritz and we're on holiday! It wasn't too sweet but definitely a nice treat and best as a dessert after our savory lunches. Her limoncello spritz was also super yummy and both were booooozy. Carnitas poblano cornbread benedict - I don't typically get Benedicts but this sounded intriguing and so glad we got it. Perfectly poached eggs and flavorful carnitas on this great cornbread - no hollandaise needed (kept on side). The hashbrowns were crispy as promised. Quinoa pear pomegranate salad was a great combo of flavors and textures! Filling even without adding more protein (though recommend adding perhaps salmon). Tarragon chicken salad was ok - surprisingly underseasoned, not very flavorful, and the chicken was chopped smaller than I prefer. I'd skip. It was a very light dish, if that's what you're feeling! Great friendly service which we appreciated. The pastries inside looked really good too. I'd love to try a bite of those, their mango guava pancakes, and poblano white chicken chili in the future.

I've been here three times, each times breakfast was delicious! It seems like there's always going to be a long wait, the longest we've ever been is about 15 or 20 minutes. Staff are always very friendly and attentive, even when they're busy. They have great French toast, yummy avocado toast, and then the good basics like scrambled eggs and bacon.

My dish was the Crispy Parmesan Risotto & Honey Cured Bacon absolutely delicious ! Our sever also recommended it. I left no crumbs ‍

Food was delicious. Service was great. Definitely would come back. They have organic produce, so flavorful.

I grew up in La Jolla, so I have been coming to this street for decades to dine and can honestly say Shorehouse Kitchen is one of my favorites, in terms of breakfast. We stopped in this morning for brunch and had a wonderful meal. We were a party of four and arrived around 9:30 and did not have to wait at all for a table. Inside is quite large they have outdoor and indoor seating available and many different table size options. Our server was polite and everything that we ordered came out very fast. Parking this area is pretty easy, we were able to find a free street spot very close to the front door. I started off my breakfast with a Salted Caramel Latte and honestly loved it. Salted caramel is one of my favorite flavors so I was expecting to like it and was happy to see it was as good as I hoped. With that theme going I decided to get the Salted Caramel Waffle and also really liked it. It was a thin waffle, not one of the fluffy Belgian types, but more so the type at a Waffle House. My waiter advised me that it wasn't very much in terms of size so I ordered a side of scrambled eggs and cheese and thought it was a nice addition and felt it was a good size for one person. I would highly recommend this place to anyone and I plan to be back again in the near future.

While Le jolle is not necessarily the place to go for food, this is the exception. We ended up getting a bloody marry and veggie benidict and both were great. In fact the bloody marry inspired us to start making them at home so we got the stuff for it right after. The benidict had a nice mix that even included a pistatio spread which worked well. The hash was probably the best hash I have had. A perfect ballance of crispy edges and tender insides. It all might be a bit pricy for breakfast but worth it. The atmosphere was nice but nothing crazy either. There was a decent amount of natural lighting and seating next to it which was nice. One of the small touches that I liked was the addition of a dog menu that they post on their front stand. The staff was friendly and had plenty of good recommendations. We lucked out on parking but It seems like normally pretty rough to find a spot. Overall a great place to grab breakfast.

It is tucked away on the third floor of a business plaza, which makes it hard to identify from the street. Although it was initially difficult to locate, the front staff was polite and sat us quickly. Beyond that, we felt as though the wait staff was nothing standout. She took our drink and food order quickly, but there wasn't much meaningful conversation about the menu or restaurant beyond that. We ordered the Tagliatelle Alla Portofino and the Ziti Alla Genovese. The Tagliatelle dish was a 7/10, as we believe the portion was small for the price, and the flavor wasn't anything special. We feel as though this dish could be easily recreated at home for half the price, with double the flavor. The Ziti Alla Genovese was a 6.5/10. The braised beef was tender and flavorful, and overall carried the dish. The pasta noodles lacked flavor, and the dish overall seemed to be cold/at room temperature, as if it had been sitting out before it was served. A few other key factors to mention..although we sat on the side of the restaurant, the main patio and indoor area appeared to have a nice view of La Jolla Shores, which seems to be the main attraction of the restaurant and a key point for many of its reviews. Additionally, the restaurant shares a bathroom with the rest of the businesses in the center, meaning if you need to use the restroom, you will have to obtain an unlock code from the hostess or your wait staff. While it is a nice place to soak in the scenery of La Jolla Shores, if you're looking for a standout meal, Catania could be passed on.

There were a couple little hiccups with the drinks during the evening, but honestly nothing major enough to take away from the experience. My only real criticism was with the hors d'oeuvres service. They kept bringing the appetizers to the same table instead of circulating to the different spots where our group was seated, which created a bit of a bottleneck at times. I think it would have flowed much more smoothly if the servers had distributed the food more evenly around each corner of the event space. That said, between the atmosphere, the views, and the overall vibe, it was still a really memorable evening in a gorgeous location.

Overall, the food and experience felt average to me, which is why I landed at 3 stars. Not bad, just okay. I had no prior knowledge of the restaurant, their brand, popular menu items, or social media presence. To be fair, doing a bit more research beforehand might have helped me get more out of the experience and try what they're best known for. This is a casual neighborhood spot, so there's no need to dress up. Their tagline, "Where the locals eat," fits the vibe well. The staff are friendly. An older woman was kind and social. She showered me in compliments and the spent some time chatting with the table next to us. It gave the place a neighborhood, familial feel where the staff seem comfortable engaging with guests. Our server was polite, though a bit rushed. He would check in, start a conversation, and then quickly move on mid-sentence. I ordered the Malbec, Antigal (Argentina). It's a $15 bottle retail and priced at $15 per glass. We ordered the Mussels and Focaccia bread as an appetizer. The broth was a bit on the salty side, though the fries on top were cooked well. The bread felt a little firm and could have been fresher. If you're seated at a 2-person table, space can be tight once both appetizers and entrees arrive. We ended up moving to a larger table to accommodate everything. The portion sizes and plates are large and can be shared among 2-3 people. I ordered the Rigatoni Bolognese, which was underwhelming for me. My husband ordered the 24-Hour Braised Beef Short Ribs and really enjoyed them. He said they were tender and flavorful. For our special occasion, we were treated to their homemade mud pie dessert. It's a coffee flavored ice cream with an Oreo crumb crust topped with whipped cream and chocolate drizzle. The portion was very HUGE and more than we could finish. It became a bit repetitive after a few bites. The slice portion can be shared up to 3-4 people, in my opinion. If I were to return, I'd be interested in trying some of the dishes they highlight on social media rather than sticking to the more standard Italian options.

The staff greeted us promptly and seated us on the patio, where the setting felt as charming as I remembered. I'm typically an eggs Benedict loyalist, but this time I was in the mood to explore more of the menu. We ordered the pastrami sandwich and the French dip, both generously stacked and visually promising. Unfortunately, while the portions impressed, the flavors didn't quite deliver. The pastrami felt like it was missing a key note something bright and tangy to balance it. I ended up adding dill pickles at home, which helped, but not enough to make it memorable. The French dip had a similar issue; the au jus leaned more toward a thick sauce rather than the lighter, savory broth you hope to dip into. The side salad was fresh, the fries perfectly crisp both enjoyable but they couldn't quite make up for the lack of depth in the sandwiches themselves. Next time, I'll stick with what they're known for and return to the breakfast classics. I'm not giving up on The Cottage just yet it simply deserves another chance, with a different order.

This month, there were so many choices that looked really innovative and up my alley. I was deciding between Lion's Tail (Bourbon, Allspice Dram, Lime, Angostura), Trinidad Sour (Angostura Bitters, Rye Whiskey, Orgeat, Lemon), and Crescent City (Smith + Cross Jamaican Rum, Sweet Vermouth, Lime, Angostura). Quinn suggested that the TRINIDAD SOUR was the most interesting given how I described my cocktail preferences - he explained that it was made with a full ounce of angostura bitters, whereas most cocktails have only a dash. It came in a super cute up glass, and was really delightful. Didn't know my socks off but it was fun & tasty and innovative. I got the current incarnation of the TUNA CRUDO (Charred brassicas relish, currants, lime segments, aleppo, radish flowers, fresno chile, kombu oil). It was beautifully presented and fun to eat; healthy and light. The brassico relish and currants on the tuna were a really nice combination. I approve! 9/10 ENTREES: I got the current halibut preparation (they always have halibut on the menu but they mix up how they do it): Yu choy, black trumpet mushroom, spring onions, date puree, buddhas hand marmalade, sumac, sunflower, green garlic dashi emulsion. Gorgeous, and who needs carbs! The fish was perfectly cooked and the other things worked really well with it: 9/10 WINE PAIRING: I decided to get a glass to drink with the halibut. Quinn suggested pairing it with a gruner veltliner - he said they had been playing around with pairings and this was a surprising match. It was a super fun food wine (also one of the cheaper wines by the glass, $15) and worked really well. I sipped it without the halibut, meh, not my kind of wine - but as soon as I was drinking it with the halibut (and then with my dessert), it was super delish and paired well. 10/10 here on the pairing. DESSERT: I love Chef Jose Alonzo's more fanciful creations, but we went old school & got the half baked chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream, which is a classic here for the reason. It's not like you never had this dessert before - but it is *perfection* here. The chocolate was really rich - and the ice cream is just the ideal texture and flavor. The vanilla bean comes through strongly and it's perfectly smooth. 10/10 to end the meal. Valets and hostess were nice too. We'll be back again, of course, even if it takes us a few months to put it back in the rotation!

Nine-Ten's once innovative menu has comfortably settled into a list of old-school favorites, but…read morethat's not necessarily a bad thing! IMHO, consistent execution of classic dishes is often underrated, making me appreciate it all the more when it's there and a bit more critical when it isn't. I recently attended a private event here, complete with an excellently staffed open bar. While my Grilled Filet with Cabernet Reduction was prepared as requested (medium rare) but not visually appealing as the juices made a rather large mess on the plate, the mini version of Nine-Ten's signature Half-Baked Chocolate Cake with Whipped Cream looked great but suffered from its size as it was slightly overcooked.
