We stumbled across it as we were walking in La Jolla and of course we had to try it It has an interesting outdoor indoor vibe. There was a line but it went pretty quickly. Walked to Better Buzz with my husband from where we were staying in La Jolla since he used to come here. He ended up getting the breakfast biscuit and coconut buzz while I got the bacon ciabatta. Coconut Buzz - Actually pretty good, it was a little too sweet for my taste, but I liked the coconut flavor to it. Wished the ice were a little smoother since it all clumped together in the middle. Bacon Ciabatta - For $10, I could have gotten something a lot better. It was pretty bland and didn't have much in it. The spicy aioli sounded a lot better than it actually was. Honestly, I would probably go to Starbucks instead of Better Buzz. It wasn't a terrible experience, but it was nothing amazing either. read more

I had Better Buzz door dashed to work, and I was not disappointed! I do think that in general, Better Buzz might be a little more expensive than other coffee places. HOWEVER, the few times I've gone-they never ever miss on my drinks. What I mean by that is, I take one look at the color of the coffee and I know it's perfect. Whereas at other coffee places, I take a look at the drink and I know that they added too much creamer or not enough, just by looking at it and Better Buzz is very consistent, 100% in fact. So because of this, I'm willing to come here and spend a lil extra. Price aside, the drinks are always very very good. My favorite is the hazelnut divinity, it tastes like the milk leftover in your bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios. It's so so so good! I also ordered a prickly pear lemonade and that was really good, too! This place has been my go to during my trip here in La Jolla. They are conveniently located by my hotel. The staff is super friendly and the ambience is really bright and lit. They offer many different choices such as a blackberry cheese, danish, scones, and cinnamon rolls. I went with a drink off their spring menu, the banana pudding best drink ever and it was so good! Just enough banana flavor to not make it overwhelming. I also got the better breakfast sandwich. It was so good. The arugula added such a fresh crisp and the pretzel bun was a unique touch I wouldn't have thought of. I see a lot of bad reviews about service. I went in November and had such great service! The ladies were so nice to me and even chatted with me because they knew I was traveling. We visited on a Thursday and it wasn't too busy. I can see if it were a weekend it would get busier. Their signature drink is the Best Drink Ever. It's a classic americano and signature creamy vanilla. It was cool to see the layers and mixing it was pretty good. We also tried the the Mint Infused Iced Coffee. The coffee place is nice to sit and enjoy your items without rushing and has nice areas to sit and enjoy it, love the overall decor of Buzz coffee. I tried the pink dragon smoothie and was love that I was able to add or minus ingredients. The staff answered questions about items and the service was quick. I tried their Buzz blended ice coffee and it was a very sweet slush that was overwhelming. Horchata Tea Latte (2/5): Coffee had a bitter, spiced acidic taste from and had a very faint hint of horchata flavor. It tasted woody, smokey and a burnt flavor that wasn't very pleasant. I wished there was a stronger horchata and sweetness presence to balance out the espresso flavor. Better Breakfast Sandwich (3/5): Hearty breakfast sandwich with a yolky fried egg and fair portions of ingredients. The arugula was a bit too bitter and overwhelmed the rest of the flavors and I wish there was a bit more garlic aioli sauce on the buns. read more

I was visiting La Jolla, on a mother-daughter trip to San Diego earlier this year. As we waited for the sunset after a long day of walking around town, we decided to grab a coffee and a bite. Better Buzz coffee is located conveniently just 2-3 blocks away from the beach. They had an open space that melted with the outside which was pretty cool. It looked really modern and inviting. Spacious, with lots of seating - it made for a perfect stop along our day trip. It appeared to be quite a popular spot too. The lines were long and seating limited due to the amount of people. My mom and I got our order within about 10 mins so not the bestest of times but considering the amount of people we were pretty patient and neither was the wait terrible. We also got lucky someone was getting up as we were passing by and we were able to grab a table to rest and enjoy our coffee and meal. The coffee was delicious. I got latte which was priced around $7 which is standard these days for a coffee house of this caliber. The peanut butter and jam sandwich was also reasonable priced at $7 a slice. The presentation did impress me, but at the same time I expected something aesthetic from a stylish shop like that. For sure very Instagrammable spot if that is what you're into. read more

I came here on a Saturday and it was very busy. This spot is a little difficult to get to because the parking is very limited. Street parking is the only parking available and on a Saturday it was as busy as it can get. We luckily found some parking on the side so I was able to grab some coffee. It was a cool store with the ambiance like you're outside with it being almost all open air. It's right by the beach so it was perfect to giving a beach feel. I got the ice blended caramel coffee which was very sweet. It tasted more like caramel than coffee so if you want something super sweet that's the one to get. This place is always packed and that is a good y that what they offer is great. We walked up while visiting downtown La Jolla. Our wait to order was about 10mins. We ordered 3 coffee drinks and 3 warmed up pastries. There was a table outside becoming available, which was nice, so we grabbed it as soon as the previous party left. After about 10 more minutes, our order was ready. We enjoyed our items and sat for about 15mins. They sent us the wrong banana bread and the turkey pesto was bland. the breakfast sandwich was good but even the avocado toast was a bit disappointing (avocado puree instead of chunky). We also ordered several coffees; the best was the caramel coffee and snickerdoodle coffee. Maybe we can try other options off the menu or come in person (instead of DoorDash). read more
