Stopped by Pinpoint Cafe in La Jolla on a Thursday morning with my girlfriend visiting from Charolette, and it was such a great start to the day. She wanted a coffee / cafe with a great view and this spot did not disappoint! The kind barista recommended her favorite drink, the maple brown sugar latte, and she absolutely did not steer me wrong. I got it hot in a small, and it was the perfect cozy pick-me-up -- smooth, flavorful, and not overly sweet ($7-8) The atmosphere was welcoming, and the location is even better since it's just a short walk from the beautiful views of La Jolla's Bay. Definitely a spot I'll be coming back to anytime I'm in the area showing friends around! read more

This is a hidden gem as well. The banana nut latte is a winner. Also the fresh breakfast burritos wonderful too. But the salsa is to die for, I wish we could move this place to Phoenix. Also the young gal who worked there a couple mornings I went was a doll. Told us all about recommendations and bragged on the owners. They have themselves a great employee doing all the right things when no one is watching. And she got a repeat customer who drove out of the way and brought two others. Small kiosk that serves up coffee staples (flat white, latte, etc) with some baked goods. Peep their hours before heading over as they close early. They have lots of outdoor seating to enjoy your coffee. If you're an early riser, this place is perfect to just grab good coffee with no frills. The person who made our drink was super kind. She asked if we wanted sugar in our flat white because they brew strong coffee. She wasn't kidding! The flat white was delicious. Definitely strong but not bitter at all. We stopped by La Jolla to checkout the pelicans and seals. Pinpoint had a nice little booth setup on one of the side streets. We got some açaí bowls, a flat white (with oat milk), and a bagel with cream cheese. Everything was great! Coffee was nice and strong but still smooth. Tried this coffee shack a couple times recently and really liked it. The hot mochas are excellent and the tomato basil avocado toast was great. Not cheap but well worth it. Also, I like going here because parking is it a bit easier around the post office with lots of 30 minute spots that often are available or open up soon. Lots of sun in the morning, too. read more

lady working register was great and food was good. I ordered the salmon and didn't realize it comes on bread since it says it comes with everything seasoning. Basically obsessed with this coffee stand. I love how unassuming they are tucked away looking like a coffee cart, but their little custom touches with homemade granola, homemade snacks and eats, and great service really sets Pinpoint Cafe apart. There are several cafes in downtown La Jolla. But I find myself looking forward to coming here the most. Lucky me I work very close to here! read more

A cool little cafe at UCSD. There's enough room and the coffee does the trick. I will say the view is not as great as some others think it is (blocked by lots of trees and there's a road in between. Still, if you're in the area it's a good place to get coffee. read more

I've been coming here for years and it used to be a daily staple for me but definitely has gone downhill in my opinion. The latte I used to get for around $5.50 is now $8.10, which is insane. While it is good coffee, it is not as good as Bird Rock, Surf Lounge & other nearby spots that still charge around $6. They've increased menu prices here to an absurd amount and I've heard other locals complain as well. It isn't justified. The food is also not as good as it used to be. I was a HUGE fan of the GOAT toast when it first came out, but the last 3 times I've had it it's been really gross. The avocados do not taste right at all. I keep retrying it thinking it's an off day but nope-just permanently bad now. It's sad to see one of my favorite spots become an over-priced, not satisfying place over the years. Little kiosk near a business area! Has some good on the go food. The acai bowl was good and decent. Already a premixed blend so I could not get my peanut butter blended it. It had an icy smooth consistency with blueberries. Filling size and normal price. I think this is the regular size. Wouldn't necessarily go out of my way for this açaí bowl again but if I'm close by! This place was a fantastic surprise find while in La Jolla. Just a block from our hotel made it even more convenient. The drinks and food were all amazing. The staff is very kind, friendly and accommodating. We went multiple times because it was so good. Highly recommended for taste of coffee, amazing food (we had the avocado toast and Nutella toast). We even went back mid day for a Açaí Smoothie that was just perfect. Loved it so much we brought back a souvenir cup that does a great job of keeping things hot and cold. read more

This a great little coffee kiosk and snack bar. They make most of the traditional coffees and a a lot of the trendy ones as well. I stopped by before heading over to Duck's for some brunch giving I had some time to spare before my party arrived. I ordered the Cafe au Lait made from a hazelnut flavor coffee. It was a smooth and rich cup of coffee with hazelnut overtones. The young lady made a good cup of coffee. They also offer some local baked good, salads, soups, and even burritos I hear. Service was top notch and quite friendly. I enjoyed the conversation with the young lady working the kiosk. They offer a few tables on the sidewalk and a mini traveling library. read more

We came here for an açai bowl and were pleasantly surprised! The food was fresh and well put together. There was a little place to eat right there, so we enjoyed our food at the picnic table. The person was very friendly and was even tolerant of rowdy children who needed a smoothie (which they enjoyed). By sitting there we could tell most people coming up for food/drinks were regulars, which is always a great sign. read more

First of all, the girls here are amazing. Carol, Mary (spelling) and Anna are who have helped me. Mary made incredible avocado toast, and Carol ALWAYS makes me the best coffee. I also like to get the Wake Me Up, which is a cold brew, banana smoothie that's more like a milkshake - add PB to it for like $1 extra and it's a dream!!! Oh, also, last but not least, the chocolate chip banana bread is clutch; I usually don't eat much food out, especially not sweet stuff, but this bread is delicious!!! I decided to try a new place today instead of going to one of my favorites, the living room cafe. Upon arriving there was one gentleman in front of me who was talking with the two young ladies behind the counter. I think he might've been a regular customer. The two girls did not acknowledge me whatsoever, and continued on with their conversation with the man. After five minutes of no acknowledgment I decided to leave. I heard that they're coffees are great but the lack of customer service is unfortunate. Hopefully management will bring this up to their employees. I will at some point down the road give it another try. For today, I decided to stick with my usual at the living room, and I am delighted that I did. I hope the customer service gets better there. Caitlin and Isa are wonderful and definitely make a cup of coffee that's worth waiting for. They do such a great job that the regulars always come by around the same times and they are always friendly enough to chat and make you feel like you're a regular in no time. Definitely my go to for coffee in la jolla as they make the mexican mocha better than every other place I've been to in san diego. Worth the wait, prices are pretty good too read more

We had their acai bowls today - so delicious! Fresh ingredients, sizeable 16oz, great price, and friendly service! They put granola at the top and bottom of the acai, which is how I like it personally since there's a better balance with the double layer of granola. This is a cute spot, super tiny, I appreciate where its located, its pretty much a stand you'd find at a boardwalk. When I was living in La Jolla, I came here every morning and ordered a Chai Latte with honey and an espresso shot. Consistently tasted great, no complaints at all. I was disappointed with my experience here after reading the great reviews. My açaí bowl was comparable to Jamba Juice and the coffee had a burnt taste to it. My favorite two sister's run this coffee shop! It's right next to Banc of California & is the total local spot. They have chairs out so it feels like a cafe in Europe. They have books so you can relax and read. They do fun things like give away kaboo tickets in participation with other local businesses! These girls (all four of them) make you feel like you are a VIP every time! The pastries are local & delish, the food organic & local as well. They have everything you could want from breakfast to lunch! Stop by- you'll see why Everyone loves this place and you will too! Oh! And they have coffee cubes! It's awesome! read more
