great place to hang out! i loved the atmosphere there, it was very relaxed and i liked to sit around and chat. the cafe is attached to a store as well, so there were things to check out while waiting for food/coffee! the staff were also friendly and able to help with any menu and allergen questions. the service was pretty fast and the portions were fair. there's a lot of options for seating outside with some umbrellas for shade. there's less seating inside but it doesn't matter as much on a nicer day. i liked the smoothie bowl i ordered and they had a pretty good selection of pastries available, even later in the day! i appreciate that they had vegan pastries as well :) i would definitely come back to visit again! just a warning that there is not much parking available so most likely you'll have to find street parking nearby. read more

Small parking lot but somewhat easy street parking to find in the area. Big walking strip of streets so it's easy to get to. They have a pretty concise menu and they will mark if something has sold out. This is connected to a store. Small section of indoor seating facing the street and a row facing into the store. It was pretty crowded when we went Saturday morning for brunch. Mainly an outdoor seating area with covered sections and some couches. The service is pretty quick though! Even though it's more than I'd usually pay for a simple meal I know it's the La Jolla cost so we decided why not. It's a yummy sandwich and the smoothie is pretty sweet but very yummy with chunks of the dragon fruit and mango coming through the straw. Beach vibes! Its all in the name. I came here Sunday Morning, I had an earlier appointment and wanted to find a spot to eat and have coffee, came across this cafe on my walk and it was welcoming. Stopped here last minute and decided to give the place a try because the bakery next door I usually go to was closed. The little shop attached is super cute and easy to browse while waiting for your order, which didn't take long to come out. Acai Bowl: (2/5) there were not enough toppings to go with the amount of acai there was. I'm personally not the biggest fan of organic hemp granola, it was more along the lines of rice crispy bits and had little flavor compared to traditional granola. Adorable coffee shop in beautiful bird rock. They have limited seating inside but a ton of outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is perfect for a beautiful sunny day. You can also shortly walk the coastline if you want to take your drink to go. They also do offer food, although I didn't get a chance to order anything to eat. I just grabbed a traditional drip coffee, which was prepared quickly, and it only cost $2.45! That's a great price these days for coffee. And it was a good cup of coffee to add. The staff was very nice and friendly. This place is a hidden gem overall! I would much rather go to this local surf vibe coffee shop, than than the franchise Starbucks that's two blocks down. Also, I didn't know until after the fact, but they have a parking lot on the side too, which is great compared to other places that only offer street parking. No idea how I've slept on this place for so long. Stopped in for a quick lunch and walked out with a funny story, a shirt, and smelling my favorite flowers the whole meal. I had the chicken pesto sandwich which was great! It came with chips and was fairly basic but the walnut cranberry mix really made it unique. While I waited for the sandwich to come out, I discovered bird rock surf shop attached and shopped around and found the cutest bird rock top! The outdoor space is so lovely to sit and enjoy your meal as well. Service was fine - everyone nice enough and it's an order and pick up at the counter situation so no real service to the tables. I do need to note that you need to monitor the counter when your food comes out because my friend and I both had our food taken. This wouldn't be much of a problem, however, they often run out of eggs and they may not be able to remake your order so watch out! They could improve that process so this doesn't happen as often. My friend and I were BAMBOOZLED by this place a couple days after Thanksgiving 2021 and I'm still confused. We decided to try this place because the sandwich shop a couple doors down had a line way too long for how hungry we were. I order a smoothie that was listed on the menu behind the counter at something like $7 and then I'm told my total is $12. I asked the woman working the front that I thought it would be $7 and point at the menu. She looks behind her, shrugs and was like "what? Oh yeah, those prices are super old". Alright, cool. NOT. I have to finish my San Diego reviews. Seaside cafe is great place for an inexpensive breakfast by the beach at La Jolla. After seeing all of the long breakfast lines by the main eating areas in La Jolla we decided to check out Seaside cafe. I had a breakfast sandwich and a smoothie and for the money, approx $12 it was a great deal. The sandwhich had ham and egg on some thick toasted bread. A strawberry/banana smoothie accomapanied the sandwich. Money well spent. I also noticed they offer acai bowls. A plus side is the other half of the cafe is a surf shop with rentals, men and women swimsuits, beach apparel, sandals and sunglasses which I had lost my pair the day before. I found a pair of polarized Madsons for under $70, I was totally stoked knowing that I found a pair for under $100 of good quality. They also offer Smith sunglasses. This is a cafe that has it all. The patio outside is perfect for sitting outside and eating your breakfast or lunch, or just having a smoothie and watch the beachgoers pass by. read more
